Portal & TREX Performance problems!

Hi All
I am having an issue with a portal we have just implemented, in terms of performance and TREX processes.
It appears TREXIndexServer.exe consumes a large amount of processor resource and causes the portal to stop working. When the process is killed off everything goes back to normal!
Can anyone help me fix this?
Thanks
Phil

We currently only have 7 indexes running on the portal and they run twice a day once at 8.00am and 12:30pm indexing and classifying a total of around 300 documents. These are all stored in the database!
The Server its self is quite high spec and should not have a problem.
It seems that the TREX engine !
Hope this helps!

  • Performance problem with WPF Viewer CRVS2010

    Hi,
We are using Crystal Reports 2010 and the new WPF Viewer. Last week when we set up a test machine to run our integration tests (several hundred) all report tests failed (about 30 tests) with a timeout exception.
    The testmachine setup:
    HP DL 580 G5
    WMWare ESXi 4.0
Guest OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit
    Memory (guest OS): 3GB
    CPU: 1
    Visual Studio 2010
Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 with 64 bit runtime installed
    Visual Studio 2008 installed
    Microsoft Office 2010 installed
    Macafee antivirus
There are about 10 other virtual machines on the same HW.
I think the performance problem is related to text obejcts on a report document viewed in a WPF Viewer. I made a simple WPF GUI with 2 buttons and the first button executes a very simple report that only has a text object with a few words in it and the other button is also a simple report with only 1 text object with approx. 100 words (about 800 charchters).
The first report executes and displays almost instantly and the second report executes instantantly but displays after approx. 1 min 30 sec.
And execute in this context means that all VB.Net code runs in the compiler without any exception or performance problem. The performance problem seems to come after viewer.Show() (in the code below) has executed.
I did another test on the second report and replaced the text obejct with a formula field with the same text as the text object and this test executed and displayed the report instantly.
So the performance problem seems to have something to do with rendering of textobjects in the WPF Viewer on a virtual machine with the above setup.
I've made several tests on local machines with Windows XP (32 bit) or Winows 7 (64 bit) installed and none of them have this performance problem. Its not a critical issue for us because our users will run this application on their local PCs with Windows 7 64-bit but its a bit problematic for our project not being able to run all of our integration tests but I will probably solve this by using a local PC instead.
Here is the VB.Net code Im using to View the reports:
Private Sub LightWeight_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs)
            Dim lightWeightReport As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
            lightWeightReport.Load(Environment.CurrentDirectory & "\LightWeight.rpt")
            ' Initialize Viewer
            Dim viewer As LF.LIV.PEAAT.Crystal.Views.ReportViewer = New LF.LIV.PEAAT.Crystal.Views.ReportViewer()
            viewer.Owner = Me
            viewer.reportViewer.ViewerCore.ReportSource = lightWeightReport
            viewer.Show()
        End Sub
Private Sub LightWeightSlow_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs)
            Dim lightWeightReport As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
            lightWeightReport.Load(Environment.CurrentDirectory & "\LightWeightSlow.rpt")
            ' Initialize Viewer
            Dim viewer As LF.LIV.PEAAT.Crystal.Views.ReportViewer = New LF.LIV.PEAAT.Crystal.Views.ReportViewer()
            viewer.Owner = Me
            viewer.reportViewer.ViewerCore.ReportSource = lightWeightReport
            viewer.Show()
        End Sub
The reports are 2 empty default reports with only 1 textobject on the details section.

  • Performance Problems with Web Layouts in web interface

    Hello Gurus,
We have a a BPS web interface tool which has the following design:
1> A web interface with several tabs
2> Each tab has around 3-4 input layouts which are dependent on each other
3> In all there are 120-140 layouts that the tool uses...
My questions were in term of performance
1> Is there a limit to how many web layouts you can use per page/tab/view or if SAP recommends specific number of web layouts per page/tab/view ?
2> If there is a limitation...our intention was to convert all the display layouts into BW reports so as to increase the performance of the tool....
3> Would like to know the restriction on the number of users who can log into the tool as a specific point of time ? We may have 50-60 minimum using this tool.
I would appreciate your help in this regard.
    Thanks in advance

  • JSP causes serious performance problem in my EP

I have a native JSP application and running it on the EP. This application accessing a Oracle db (using oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver driver).
When this db not running, my EP doesn't open any page. The EP try to connect with this db, but not get success.
I modify this application with TRY and CATCH to treat the application problem, but the EP problem continues.
In the EP Thread Overview (System Adm -> Monitoring -> Portal -> Thread Overview), I see threads (locked) about this application. To unlock this threads, I delete the par file from the Portal and re-deploy it.
When this threads is deleted, the application treat the problem (display a error message in the iView container) and EP work normally.
    My questions:
    1) Exists some way that the problem with this application does not cause performance problems with the EP (via code or property)?
    2) Exists some property in the Config Tool where I configure the connection timeout for access the external DB?
    3) Exists some way to liberate these (locked) threads of the EP (I see the page Clearing the Portal Runtime Cache - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/d2/a216e1bd7b431c82fa5ff105187112/frameset.htm - but I don't know if I can use it for this)
    I use EP 6.0 SP 15.

  • Performance problem in loading the Mater data attributes 0Equipment_attr

    Hi Experts,
We have a Performance problem in loading the Mater data attributes 0Equipment_attr.It is running with psuedo delta(full update) the same infopakage runs with diffrent selections. The problme we are facing is the load is running 2 to 4 hrs in the US morning times and when coming to US night times it is loading for 12-22 hrs and gettin sucessfulluy finished. Even it pulls (less records which are ok )
when i checked the R/3 side job log(SM37) the job is running late too. it shows the first and second i- docs coming in less time and the next 3and 4 i- docs comes after 5-7 hrs gap to BW and saving in to PSA and then going to info object.
we have userexits for the data source and abap routines but thay are running fine in less time and the code is not much complex too.
can you please explain and suggest the steps in r/3 side and bw side. how can i can fix this peformance issue

  • Portal LDAP permission problems: Login causing "Insufficient access"

    Hello,
We have OID / Portal / 10gAS version 9.0.4.1 in development and production. We are using the 10gAS as a J2EE webapp server and the OID server as an LDAP server. Portal was working, but we had to make modifications to the default ACP's in OID for our DIT to be secure.
    Bottom line:
Logging in as a user to portal yields:
    " Unexpected error encountered in wwsec_app_priv.process_signon (User-Defined Exception) (WWC-41417)

The interpretation of this is that the service account "(orclapplicationcommonname=portal.040405.1647,cn=portal,cn=products,cn=oraclecontext)" does not have sufficient privileges to "Op id:(1) Filter Access to entry" or, "Browse the entry" with the DN "uid=saitken,cn=Users,dc=tekelec,dc=com". This is the user I am attempting to log in as.
The current ACP entries against the "users" container that is causing the deny.. "Filter Accees denied by ACP: (cn=users,dc=tekelec,dc=com)" seems to be the problem.
The real issue is that "entry level" access should be possible by all users in the system. The ACP entries I have on the 'users' entry / container is as follows:
    - orclaci: access to entry by self (browse)
    - orclaci: access to entry filter=(objectclass=tekuser) by * (browse) by group="cn=service accounts,cn=groups,dc=tekelec,dc=com" (browse,delete) by group="cn=it - user admins,cn=groups,dc=tekelec,dc=com" (browse,delete)
    - orclaci: access to entry filter=(objectclass=inetorgperson) by group="cn=oracledascreateuser, cn=groups,cn=OracleContext,dc=tekelec,dc=com" added_object_constraint=(objectclass=orcluser*) (browse,add) by group="cn=oracledasdeleteuser, cn=groups,cn=OracleContext,dc=tekelec,dc=com" (browse,delete) by group="cn=oracledasedituser, cn=groups,cn=OracleContext,dc=tekelec,dc=com" (browse) by group="cn=UserProxyPrivilege, cn=Groups,cn=OracleContext,dc=tekelec,dc=com" (browse, proxy) by dn="orclApplicationCommonName=DASApp, cn=DAS, cn=Products,cn=oraclecontext" (browse,proxy) by self (browse, nodelete, noadd) by group="cn=Common User Attributes, cn=Groups,cn=OracleContext,dc=tekelec,dc=com" (browse)
All users under the "Users" container are of objectclass 'tekuser'. The last ACP point was massaged from the original install of Portal.
The real clincher that I don't understand is that the single entry "access to entry filter=(objectclass=tekuser) by * (browse)" should be allowing browse access to my entry to everyone! (Including the service account for portal!)
So, as I wind around this ball of wax, I deparately seek assistance. I understand the complexities of ACP's and know of a few problems, but nothing that would cause this.
Does anyone have any insight? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
The best thing that I could have right now would be a spec (or requirements) of permission configuration against an LDAP server (or OID) for Portal to perform it's normal tasks. Unfortunately, I have yet to find any docos on ACL requirements of Portal. :(

  • Using portal metadata repository for portal content - performance impact?

Oracle provides the Oracle Drive utility as a way of moving portal content directly into the portal metadata repository. The Oracle Portal Center site (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/index.html) provides links to several demos and technical papers that describe the use of Oracle Drive to copy file-based content into the Portal Metadata Repository (e.g., http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/pdf/cm_webdav_10g_webdav_clients.pdf). My questions are: (a) is this a best practice (b) are there potential performance problems with loading up the portal metadata repository with large volumes of file-based content?

    Hello
It depends on what you mean by "large volumes".
I use webdav scripts to create/update my files every night and it works fine. But it's rather slow.
    Questions are :
    - is it a one-time transfer to initiate Portal, and a regular one ?
    - how large are your files ?

  • WAS JAVA 640 engine is giving performance problems.

    Hi,
We are facing the performance issues in WAS java 640 SP19 engine. Pages are taking much time to load.
Kindly suggest if there anything do with jco connection parameter changes and recommended values. Is there any parametes to check at the backend system level.
    WAS version: 640, SP19
    OS : SUN 5.9
    Oralce: 9.2.0.8
    Thanks,
    Hareesh

    Hello Hareesh
You should find the root cause of  your performance problem first.
Start with checking the server (cpu, memory, paging) and by checking if your portal runs on the recommended parameters (check oss notes).
A killer for portal performance is when you have a lot of paging going on, make sure the portal has enough extended memory available to avoid any paging.
If those don't give a result, you can still analyze garbage collection logs with third party tools.
Check if heapdumps are being generated and analyze them.
Once those checks are done, I would recommend installation of Sol Man Diagnostics + Wily Introscope so you get a better view on what is going on and troubleshoot further from there.
    Kind regards
    Tom

  • Forms-Performance problem

I running Portal version 3.0.8.9.8 on Sun Solaris and I have perfomence problem when running forms. I have created a form against emp table and it takes over one minute to open the form. When I try to run a report against the same table it only takes a second to open and execute the query.
    Does anyone have solution?
    null

    Hi all,
First, regarding 3.0.8 performance degradation, it is BUG # 1721741, the workaround:
    Create 2 additional indexes:
    CREATE INDEX WWA_MODULE_BINDINGS_IDX1
    ON WWA_MODULE_BINDINGS$(
    SUBSCRIBER_ID,
    MODULE_ID,
    MODULE_VERSION,
    MODULE_BLOCK_ID,
    MODULE_ATTR_ID)
    CREATE INDEX WWA_MODULE_LOV_BINDINGS_IDX1
    ON WWA_MODULE_LOV_BINDINGS$(
    SUBSCRIBER_ID,
    MODULE_ID,
    MODULE_VERSION,
    MODULE_BLOCK_ID,
    MODULE_ATTR_ID)
Those indexes are missing in the standard fresh install but present if you run an upgrade from versions 3.0.6 or 3.0.7.
*****!!!!! Please note: This workaround can be applied ONLY to Portal forms version
3.0.8.9.8. Earlier versions of the Portal do not need those indexes !!!!!******
This bug is fixed in 3.0.9.
    Now, 3.0.7 performance problems:
    Is this normal?
    No.
Is there anything that I can change to speed this up?
That's what I'm trying to figure out. Can you provide me with as much details as possible about your slow forms? Anything - form types (MD, forms on tables) any remote DB tables involved?, # of fields in the form?
Is there an index missing in the PORTAL30 schema?
    No. Not in 3.0.7.
The more columns in the underlying table the longer the form takes to appear,
is this a general rule of thumb?
    Yes.

  • Critical performance problem upon bulk load of groups

    All (including product development),
I think there are missing indexes in wwsec_flat$ and wwsec_sys_priv$. Anyway, I'd like assistance on fixing the critical performance problems I see, properly. Read on...
During and after bulk load of a few (about 500) users and groups from an external database, it becomes evident that there's a performance problem somewhere. Many of the calls to wwsec_api.addGroupToList took several minutes to finish. Afterwards the machine went 100% CPU just from logging in with the portal30 user (which happens to be group owner for all the groups).
Running SQL trace points in the directions of the following SQL statement:
    SELECT ID,PARENT_ID,NAME,TITLE_ID,TITLEIMAGE_ID,ROLLOVERIMAGE_ID,
    DESCRIPTION_ID,LAYOUT_ID,STYLE_ID,PAGE_TYPE,CREATED_BY,CREATED_ON,
    LAST_MODIFIED_BY,LAST_MODIFIED_ON,PUBLISHED_ON,HAS_BANNER,HAS_FOOTER,
    EXPOSURE,SHOW_CHILDREN,IS_PUBLIC,INHERIT_PRIV,IS_READY,EXECUTE_MODE,
    CACHE_MODE,CACHE_EXPIRES,TEMPLATE FROM
    WWPOB_PAGE$ WHERE ID = :b1
I checked the existing indexes, and see that the following ones are missing (I'm about to test with these, but have not yet done so):
    CREATE UNIQUE INDEX "PORTAL30"."WWSEC_FLAT_IX_GROUP_ID"
    ON "PORTAL30"."WWSEC_FLAT$"("GROUP_ID")
TABLESPACE "PORTAL" PCTFREE 10 INITRANS 2 MAXTRANS 255
    STORAGE ( INITIAL 32K NEXT 160K MINEXTENTS 1 MAXEXTENTS 4096
    PCTINCREASE 1 FREELISTS 1)
    LOGGING
    CREATE UNIQUE INDEX "PORTAL30"."WWSEC_FLAT_IX_PERSON_ID"
    ON "PORTAL30"."WWSEC_FLAT$"("PERSON_ID")
TABLESPACE "PORTAL" PCTFREE 10 INITRANS 2 MAXTRANS 255
    STORAGE ( INITIAL 32K NEXT 160K MINEXTENTS 1 MAXEXTENTS 4096
    PCTINCREASE 1 FREELISTS 1)
    LOGGING
    CREATE UNIQUE INDEX "PORTAL30"."WWSEC_SYS_PRIV_IX_PATCH1"
    ON "PORTAL30"."WWSEC_SYS_PRIV$"("OWNER", "GRANTEE_GROUP_ID",
    "GRANTEE_TYPE", "OWNER", "NAME", "OBJECT_TYPE_NAME")
TABLESPACE "PORTAL" PCTFREE 10 INITRANS 2 MAXTRANS 255
    STORAGE ( INITIAL 32K NEXT 80K MINEXTENTS 1 MAXEXTENTS 4096
    PCTINCREASE 1 FREELISTS 1)
    LOGGING
Note that when I deleted the newly inserted groups, the CPU consumption immediately went down from 100% to some 2-3%.
This behaviour has been observed on a Sun Solaris system, but I think it's the same on NT (I have observed it during the bulk load on my NT laptop, but so far have not had the time to test further.).
Also note: In the call to addGroupToList, I set owner to true for all groups.
Also note: During loading of the groups, I logged a few errors, all of the same type ("PORTAL30.WWSEC_API", line 2075), as follows:
    Error: Problem calling addGroupToList for child group'Marketing' (8030), list 'NO_OSL_Usenet'(8017). Reason: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-06510: PL/SQL: unhandled user-defined exception ORA-06512: at "PORTAL30.WWSEC_API", line 2075
Please help. If you like, I may supply the tables and the java program that I use. It's fully reproducable.
    Thanks,
Erik Hagen (you may call me on +47 90631013)

    YES!
I have now tested with insertion of the missing indexes. It seems the call to addGroupToList takes just as long time as before, but the result is much better: WITH THE INDEXES DEFINED, THERE IS NO LONGER A PERFORMANCE PROBLEM!! The index definitions that I used are listed below (I added these to the ones that are there in Portal 3.0.8, but I guess some of those could have been deleted).
About the info at http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum70/HTML/000894.html: Yes! Thanks! Very interesting, and I guess you found the cause for the error messages and maybe also for the performance problem during bulk load (I'll look into it as soon as possible anbd report what I find.).
Note: I have made a pretty foolproof and automated installation script (or actually, it's part of my Java program), that will let anybody interested recreate the problem. Mail your interest to [email protected].

  • RTMFMessaging causes performance problem

    Hi,
We have a performance problem with the component:
    EP:KM:COLL:class com.sap.ip.collaboration.core.api.rtmf.core.RTMFMessaging.ReceiveJMSQueue
This component according to the Request overview is executing literally billions of requests each day. It is also not closing many of the requests. I wondered if anyone could give some hints as to performance settings for RTMF in a load-balanced landscape that would prevent this behaviour?
We have a Central Instance with 3 nodes, each running a web dispatcher and 4 application servers in a load-balanced environment - so it's meant to be a high availability Portal until this problem makes it fall over!
The symptoms are also that the performance degrades over time as the RTMF requests are not always closed, until they consume enough resources that the system stops responding.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Marc

    Hi
As one of the authors has mentioned previously this is not a problem but the way RTMF framework works.  It has a polling mechanism that polls the server for messages.
By default this polling mechnism is set to Constant Interval which is set to 3 seconds.  So the RTMF will poll the server for messages every 3 seconds.  However, depending on the number of users etc this polling mechanism can be changed to Linear Interval or maximum HPS (see SAP Help for further information).
This can be changed under: System Admin > System Config > KM Content > Collaboration > RTC > RTC Engine > Polling Policy
You can certainly look at changing these!  If you have changed this already and still having problems with the requests get back to SDN.
    Cheers
    Ankit

  • PL/SQL Performance problem

I am facing a performance problem with my current application (PL/SQL packaged procedure)
My application takes data from 4 temporary tables, does a lot of validation and
puts them into permanent tables.(updates if present else inserts)
One of the temporary tables is parent table and can have 0 or more rows in
    the other tables.
I have analyzed all my tables and indexes and checked all my SQLs
They all seem to be using the indexes correctly.
There are 1.6 million records combined in all 4 tables.
    I am using Oracle 8i.
How do I determine what is causing the problem and which part is taking time.
    Please help.
The skeleton of the code which we have written looks like this
MAIN LOOP ( 255308 records)-- Parent temporary table
    -----lots of validation-----
    update permanent_table1
    if sql%rowcount = 0 then
    insert into permanent_table1
    Loop2 (0-5 records)-- child temporary table1
    -----lots of validation-----
    update permanent_table2
    if sql%rowcount = 0 then
    insert into permanent_table2
    end loop2
    Loop3 (0-5 records)-- child temporary table2
    -----lots of validation-----
    update permanent_table3
    if sql%rowcount = 0 then
    insert into permanent_table3
    end loop3
    Loop4 (0-5 records)-- child temporary table3
    -----lots of validation-----
    update permanent_table4
    if sql%rowcount = 0 then
    insert into permanent_table4
    end loop4
-- COMMIT after every 3000 records
    END MAIN LOOP
    Thanks

  • Performance problem in Zstick report...

    Hi Experts,
I am facing performance problem in Custoom Stock report of Material Management.
In this report i am fetching all the materials with its batches to get the desired output, at a time this report executes 36,000 plus unique combination of material and batch.
This report takes around 30 mins to execute. And this report is to be viewed regularly in every 2 hours.
To read the batch characteristics value I am using FM -> '/SAPMP/CE1_BATCH_GET_DETAIL'
Is there any way out to increase the performance of this report, the output of the report is in ALV.
May i have any refresh button in the report so that data may get refreshed automatically without executing it again. or is there any cache memory concept.
Note: I have declared all the itabs with type sorted, all the select queries are fetched with key and index.
    Thanks
    Rohit Gharwar

    Hello,
SE30 is old. Switch on trace on ST12 while running this progarm and identify where exactly most of the time is being spent. If you see high CPU time this problem with the ABAP code. You can exactly figure out the program/function module from ST12 trace where exactly time is being spent. If you see high database time in ST12, problem is with database related issue. So basically you have to analyze sql statement from performance traces in ST12. These could resolve your issue.
    Yours Sincerely
    Dileep

  • SQL report performance problem

I have a SQL classic report in Apex 4.0.2 and database 11.2.0.2.0 with a performance problem.
The report is based on a PL/SQL function returning a query. The query is based on a view and pl/sql functions. The Apex parsing schema has select grant on the view only, not the underlying objects.
The generated query runs in 1-2 sec in sqlplus (logged in as the Apex parsing schema user), but takes many minutes in Apex. I have found, by monitoring the database sessions via TOAD, that the explain plan in the Apex and sqlplus sessions are very different.
    The summary:
In sqlplus SELECT STATEMENT ALL_ROWS Cost: 3,695
In Apex SELECT STATEMENT ALL_ROWS Cost: 3,108,551
What could be the cause of this?
I found a blog and Metalink note about different explain plans for different users. They suggested to set optimizer_secure_view_merging='FALSE', but that didn't help.

Hmmm, it runs fast again in SQL Workshop. I didn't expect that, because both the application and SQL Workshop use SYS.DBMS_SYS_SQL to parse the query.
Only the explain plan doesn't show anything.
To add: I changed the report source to the query the pl/sql function would generate, so the selects are the same in SQL Workshop and in the application. Still in the application it's horribly slow.
So, Apex does do something different in the application compared to SQL Workshop.

  • JRC 2: Performance Problem

    Hi.
Our reporting component used JRC 1.x before we upgraded to JRC 2.x. We got two issues after upgrading.
First issue I solved already with a workaround which I published on stackoverflow.com. (1) Does anyone knows where I will find the issue management system to report this issue?
Second issue occurs big performance problem within our project. We opened a report with 6 subreports (which includes 1 upto 3 tables) in 2-4 seconds using JRC 1. If we will open same report using JRC 2, we wait upto 60 seconds.
This methods requires more time with JRC 2 comparing to JRC 1:
    ReportClientDocument#open(String, int);
    SubreportController#setTableLocation(String, ITable, ITable)
    DatabaseController#setTableLocation(ITable, ITable)
Each invocation of one of these methods requires 2-4 seconds.
    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards
    Thomas
