  • Deployment of 11g ADF Faces on Oracle 10g SOA Server

    Respected All,
    I have Oracle 10g SOA Server , I want to develop one Portal with ADF Faces and deployee on Oracle 10g SOA Server.
    1) Which ADF Faces Version i can Use? (10g or 11g)
    2) do i need to take license of JDeveloper 10g or 11g for my Development ?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vijay Chavan

    Vijay,
    1) 10g. NOT 11g - it's well documented that 11g won't work on the 10g server
    2). I am not a Oracle license rep, but as I understand JDeveloper licensing, you only need to license for deployment of ADF, not development. You may wish to purchase support for JDeveloper, however. Best thing is to get an official answer from your Oracle Sales Rep, though.

  • How to configure my oracle jdeveloper 11g preview 4 with oracle 8i database

    hi every one
    my requrirement is to configure my oracle jdeveloper 11g preview 4 with oracle 8i database with (thin driver)
    thanks in advance

    Prapan,
    JDev 11g TP4 comes with 11g JDBC drivers, which do not support connecting to any database v 9.0.1 or earlier.
    So, back to you... depends upon what you want to do. If you want to write your own code to connect to a database using 11g, get ahold of some JDBC drivers that support 8i and have away. If you're talking about getting the database development stuff (e.g. the embedded SQLDeveloper) to work, you're probably out of luck.
    So, please define "configure my oracle jdeveloper 11g preview 4 with oracle 8i database"

  • JDeveloper 11g/ADF Faces Rich Client

    Hello,
    We are trying to decide between using JDeveloper 10.1.4 and JDeveloper 11g for developing a new application - we plan to use just the ADF Faces layer of the ADF Framework along with Spring and TopLink for other layers.
    On one hand we think that is is safer to use 10.x version of ADF Faces as it may be more stable and on the other hand we are tempted to use 11g as it provides Ajax-enabled JSF Components.
    Has anyone used ADF Faces Rich Client Framework for developing applications? Is it stable enought to be used for production-level applications?
    I would love to hear your thoughts!

    Hi,
    don't use 10.1.3.4 to develop a new application now unless you have browser constraints with your user-base.
    ADF Faces RC / 11g requires:
    FireFox 2, 3
    Internet Explorer 7.0
    Safari 3.0
    11g is a significant update and they have vastly improved/redesigned a lot of things that were difficult/complex to do in earlier versions.
    Plus the 11g user interface is way better from a users perspective.

  • What previous knowledge need to learn oracle jdeveloper 11g (adf faces&jsf)

    hi plz tell me, what are all technologies and languages i want to knew before i learn adf faces with jsf in oracle jdeveloper 11g

    Hi,
    Although the blog post is ok, I would certainly add a good JSF book/tutorial before the "Developing RIA Web Applications with Oracle ADF" part. For even better results, I would add a Trinidad book/tutorial before it as well. If you want to be future proof, add a Facelets tutorial between the JSF and Trinidad part. If you go right away to "Developing RIA Web Applications with Oracle ADF" you'll only make yourself a robot not understanding what happen behind the scene, often resulting in performance and memory issues as well as not so good looking application since you're going to force yourself into the Oracle LaF only.
    For the JSF part, check out http://horstmann.com/corejsf/ and, if you can handle really technical stuff: http://jcp.org/aboutJava/communityprocess/final/jsr314/index.html
    For Facelets: https://facelets.dev.java.net/nonav/docs/dev/docbook.html and http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-facelets/
    For Trinidad: http://myfaces.apache.org/trinidad/devguide/index.html

  • Using Reports 3.0.5 with Oracle 10G database

    We are in the process of upgrading from Oracle 8.0.5 to 10g running under Windows 2000..
    Everything has been done using Developer Forms(5.0.6.8.0) and Reports(3.0.5.8.0).
    In testing the Forms seem to be OK.
    Some of our reports work and some don't.
    When I load them in the reports developer, and try to recompile, I either get a Windows error (R30DES32.exe) or it keeps telling me 'Report contains uncompiled PL/SQL' and if I open a PL/SQL block from a function it displays:
    Error 0, at line 0, column 0
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [17069], [52974580], [], [], [], [], []
    I know this is an older version of Reports, and Oracle states that it is desupported and has not been tested with version 9 or 10.
    Do I HAVE to upgrade my version or Developer or is there any other work arounds or things I am missing?
    I've been trying to get upgrades for a while but the person in charge has been having other ideas.

    Hi Hanse,
    Thanks for your suggestions, in fact this is my third upgrade to 6.0 and want to apologize for not writing this before but this is my first one with such a large database, the other upgrades I have done were with 150Gb and 210 Gb but they did not took much during the downtime. I found this info https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/upgradedb where we can see the SAP Upgrade Database and the media time for a 1300 Gb with the downtime minimized is 86 Hours! that is more than 3 days and this company is 7x24x365 and is one of the biggest enterprise in this country so more than 3 days is  a big money lost, in fact the test run they did took 7 days! so you can imagine the scenario.
    Right now I agree the only option is to do Archiving first but the people here told me it is not possible.
    The upgrade will be done in a new server so I don´t know if exists some way to use this (Parallel server) to rush things out like doing upgrade on the new server and then move the changes from the old server to the new one, I know it sounds crazy because we are talking of two different versions but in this cases I have to look for all kind of solutions.
    What do you think?
    Thanks,

  • ADF Faces with NetBeans

    Hi,
    This is Sandip Kulkarni.
    I want to know that, how can we use or integrate ADF Faces with NetBeans 6.1 or NetBeans 6.5?
    Please assist me with the solution as early as possible........
    Thanking you

    Sandip,
    In all honesty, if you want to do ADF development - JDeveloper is the only game in town... yes, I know you can make it work, but it's not going to be productive. If you are talking about ADF Faces only, you may be able to configure the taglibs + etc in Netbeans, but not sure it's going to be fun. If you want to bring ADF Business Components into the mix, it's going to be unworkable.
    One thing you could look at doing is to use something like maven - and then use Maven to generate the Netbeans artifacts.
    Caveat: I've not done this before and cannot comment on how workable it will be.
    Why don't you want to use JDeveloper?

  • Oracle 11g compatibility with oracle 10g and 9i?

    Hi All
    I have some queries on 11g compatibility.
    Is oracle 11g client compatible with oracle 10g client which is already installed on desktop?
    If yes any changes to be done and where?
    Is oracle 11g compatible with oracle 10g/9i on the same server where 10g/9i are installed?
    Regards

    Thanks Justin Thats right ...
    Problem elaboration is as follows
    We currently have an application which requires oracle 10g(10.2.0.3) client to connect to database from user desktops. As
    part of new application development the oracle 11g clients need to be installed on all the user deskotps.
    The complete application software along with oracle client 11g has to be roled out on these desktop as part of
    implementaion of new application besides the existing application(The application software is packaged along with oracle
    10g client).
    We would like to understand if there is any software provided by oracle using which we can switch between different oracle
    versions while accessing the respective applications simultaneously. Also are there any known bugs/issues in running
    oracle 10g client and oracle 11g client together on the same user desktops with different oracle homes?

  • Sqlj runtime error with oracle 10G in Websphere6 or 5.1

    We are trying to migrate from oracle 9i to 10G and we are compiled all our sqlj code with codegen = -oracle option.(previously we used to use codegen=-jdbc which for some reason doesnot work).it compiles fine with out any erros.. But when we try to run then get this exception.
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: SQLJ programs translated with the option -codegen=oracle must be run under Oracle JDBC 9.0.0 or higher. If the Oracle JDBC driver is wrapped, then the wrapper must implement all of the oracle.jdbc.OracleXxxx interfaces. Alternatively, you can translate SQLJ programs either with -codegen=iso. java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: SQLJ programs translated with the option -codegen=oracle must be run under Oracle JDBC 9.0.0 or higher. We are using ojdbc14.jar that came with oracle 10G.
    Hope any one can give any pointers.

    I'm having same issue - but I'm having it when I try to invoke a method that contains a database Object type from a Tibco Business Works Process called a Java Method.
    How exactly do you do the codegen=iso configuration?
    I've tried:
    1. Project Properties / Compiler SQLJ and then select from Code Generation drop down iso.
    2. From Connections / Database / Navigate to package / right-click / Generate Java / Browse to my custom jpub.properties file where I have tried multiple entries such as (by themselves and in some combination.:
    - jpub.codegen=jdbc
    - jpub.codegen=iso
    - jpub.compatible=9i
    - jpub.compatible=8i
    - compatible=both8i
    - jpub.usertypes=oracle
    - jpub.compatible=customdatum
    - jpub.compatible=sqlj
    I've also played with changing from the default some of the Mapping Options in Connections / Database / Navigate to package / right-click / Generate Java / Mapping Options.
    This doc here, says that code should change (section 6 JPublisher Input Files - based on configuration of Input files)
    Oracle® Database
    JPublisher User's Guide
    10g Release 2 (10.2)
    B14188-01
    No matter what I do, the code that gets generate is the same.
    Also, the documentation talks about running things from the command line but how exactly do you do that? Do I need to be in specific directory? I tried the c:\ C:\jdev\system and c\jdev\ and c:jdev\bin and always get error message: 'jpub' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
    I've built a java client in JDeveloper to successfully call the same method and I don't see the error.

  • ClassNotFound Error with Oracle 10g...please help!

    Hello everyone!
    I am currently using jdk 1.4.2_10 with Oracle 10g. I tried to connect to the database, like this:
    try{
    String driverName = "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver";
    String serverName = "***.***.*.*";
    String portNumber = "****";
    String sid = "****";
    String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@" + serverName + ":" + portNumber + ":" + sid;
    String usr = "*****";
    String pwd = "*****";
    //Load the JDBC driver
    Class.forName(driverName);
    //Connect to the base
    connect = DriverManager.getConnection(url,usr,pwd);
    catch(ClassNotFoundException e){
    System.out.println("Error---No database driver");
    catch(SQLException s){
    System.out.println("Error---No connection to the database");
    Here is what's in my classpath, (i added the ojdbc14.jar) :
    c:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_2\jdbc\lib\ojdbc14.jar;
    C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\QTJava.zip
    Can anyone please help me?
    It's really a problem, i've been searching for 2 days now.....
    thank you

    Most likely it is about
    oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    You need to include Oracle JDBC lib.
    If you are using JDeveloper then:
    In Project properties click on Libraries
    Click AddLibrary
    In the list that appears choose Oracle JDBC

  • Q : Using column level VPD policies with Oracle Jdeveloper ADF BC ?

    For one of our big customer, we already successfully developped a new java application using Oracle Jdeveloper with ADF, ADF BC and the Virtual Private Database (VPD) with row level policies.
    Our customer has new business requirements that could be fullfilled using column level VPD policies.
    Has someone already successfully (or not) developped a business application using column level VPD policies with ADF, ADF BC on Oracle 10g R2 database and OracleAS 10g (10.1.2) ?
    Is it supported by Oracle ? what are the pitfalls, difficulties, problems you've met ?
    Is it a viable solution and if not, why ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Rémy

    Tomas,
    my 2 cent:
    if you know how to get the info from the db during run time you should be able to overwrite the frameworks message bundle look to get the description from the db instead of from the resource bundle.
    Or you load all descriptions from the db into a resource bundle and use the keys in the tooltip directly.

  • How to use ADF Faces with struts1.3.8

    Hi
    Can anybody guide us how to use ADF faces with Struts 1.3.8.
    Your help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Chetan

    Xpp,
    Have a look at the ADF Developer's Guide for specific instructions on menus (the ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers has the information in section 19.2).
    You can put javascript handlers on the components to get keyboard event handling.

  • Did anybody used ADF Faces with Apache Struts?

    Hi
    Can anybody give some guidelines of how to use ADF Faces with Struts?

    I think you'll get a better answer for this on an iBatis forum.
    I think I knew one customer who used this combination.
    We don't have a specific tutorial that shows you how to use iBatis with ADF Faces, but at the end of the day any of the tutorials we have that shows you how to use POJO or a session facade to front POJO will be applicable to iBatis.

  • ADF Faces with Facelets (Menubar)

    Hello experts,
    i using ADF Faces with the jDeveloper (11.1.2) and currently i have a little problem. The menu bar is not usable when i using facelets. It seems to me that the component isn't working.
    This is my little testproject:
    http://www.axxg.de/Facelets.rar
    Thanks for your help
    Alexander

    Alexandar,
    You could have just explained your problem rather than making us download something.
    You have a few issues:
    1). You are using Facelets templating to include your content and header - however, content and header are full pages, not fragments - thus you have multiple f:view tags and af:document tags (this is why you have problems with the menu not dropping down). Have a look at ADF templates in the documentation if you'd like to see how ADF templating works.
    2) Your menus aren't set to do anything. <af:commandMenuItem text="open" id="cmi1"/> - there is no action/action listener associated with your menu item, so indeed it does nothing - this is what you will see when you fix problem #1
