Possibility to export or place InCopy file to represent an inline text frame.

I need to unique a text which is in an inline text frame by representing it with a unique InCopy file.
So I can make if I needed in future one modification to that InCopy file and then all the necessary action is to update the links inside all the InDesign files...

I asked this question from two years and no one gave me an answer because there was no answer.
But I have developed an add-on represented by a menu:

  • Is it possible to export chapters into video files or final cut?

    Hello,
I was wondering if it is possibly to export chapters from DVDSP of I would have to rework the chapters again when I edit. Bascially I have chapters, but they all end with a cutoff transition, I've decided to re-edit the 4 hrs of footage on final cut, but was hoping there was an easier way to have the chapters already there. Hopefully this makes sense...
Can Final Cut edit .m2v files?

No, I don't think that you can carry chapters from DVDSP into FCP. I may be wrong. You can however, do the opposite, carry chapter markers from FCP into DVDSP.
    Yes, FCP can edit MPEG2.
    Good luck.

  • How can we place an image in already created inline graphic frame?

    Hi,
    AIM::
To place an image in the inline graphic frame.
    OBSERVATION::
As i have analysed the snippet Runner,i came to know that it allows to load the placegun with the file(in my case image). but in order to place it,we need to click on the document..and then the image is placed at (0,0) of the page(I suppose Indesign does it automatically).
what is needed,is to place image in already created inline graphic frame. i have created a inline graphic frame at some position in the story, but now i required to place image in this created frame.

I have the same problem. Can you give me a short code sample for that.
I have an image and want to place it in the currently selected frame...

  • How about the possibility to export a CONSOLIDATED BACKUP FILE ?

    Hello you all !
Like many others, I feel the need to own a backup file of my activity on Spotify. It's not at all that I don't trust Spotify, but issues can (and sometimes do) occur with data, and having a simple comprehensive file would really bring peace of mind to me :-)
Personnally, I would like to create this backup file every month or so, in a .csv, .xls or .txt format, via a simple export function.
It would include playlists artists and titles of course, giving some more details as : playlist addition date, local file or not, if it happened mention of deletion from the Spotify database (contract changed between artist and Spotify), if it happened mention of automatic title switch in the Spotify database (same reason), title lentgh, album name. Furthermore, this backup file would also include the whole list of followed artists, also mentionning here when an artist would disappear from the Spotify database (hopefully in rare cases :-)).
My personal music is very important to me, and being certain that I can keep a reliable backup of my likes, dislikes, and music choices is crucial for users like me. THANKS FOR SHARING THIS IDEA IF YOU LIKE IT !

  • InDesign Crashing When Exporting Stories for InCopy

When trying to export a single story, or just 3 or 4 text frames, my system is hanging up. Is there a problem with InDesign or is it a system problem? I have 2gb of memory on my system and enough room on my hard drive. However, I am saving this file and working directly on a external hard drive that is connected to the Internet so that my client and I have access to this server. We would like to work in Layout Mode and thought that since all of the files and links were on this drive, there would not be a problem.
I am not sure why InDesign is hanging up so badly. I do not have a problem with InDesign otherwise.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did not try to save this file afterwards to the external hard drive, but created and worked consistently off this drive with all of the files.
Thank you so much for all of your help.
    All the best,
    Aleda Downs

    Hi Bob:
The Drive is connected directly to the DSL modem and not to my computer. We
are using the Western Digital Worldbook drive and the software Mionet. The
software creates a virtual Drive on your computer which you can access like
any other Drive. It is actually mapped like your C, D Drives and when you
view My Computer, you see this drive listed and are connected.
If you think that this type of server will not work then I will try your
method. However, I still do not understand why this is bombing out. Does the
InDesign files need to be on local drive only? I have no problem opening or
saving the InDesign files to this drive, it appears as a local drive on my
system. I tried a test file using this method and it seemed to work, but I
cannot export any stories from this document.
One thought came to mind, and I am not sure if this has any bearing on my
problem, but this document is created from a copy of prior issue. We
generally use the prior month's issue, delete all of the content and start
the next issue. All that remains from the prior issue is the masthead and
some repeating items. So in this document, I opened last month's issue,
(there were no InCopy stories, they had been previously unlinked) deleted
all of the text, and then saved it in a new folder. Once I finished the
layout, I packaged the file so all of the links would collected in a new
project folder. Then I opened that document from the packaged folder, and
tried to make the InCopy stories. Could that be part of my problem too?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks so much,

  • DPS Export Folio single-folio-file

    hi
is it possible to export a single-folio-file to desktop?
in the beta-programm was it possible > its very useful to test the app
    thx 4 help

The Product ID doesn't matter for free folios. It only matters if you'll charge money for the folio at some point. We recommend the "reverse DNS" naming approach: com.publisher.magazine.issuename, such as com.adobe.indesignweekly.2012january.
Why do you want the .zip file? That's useful only for creating Single Edition viewers.

  • How do i export a single video file that also contains ac3 audio

    Hi Guys,
Is it possible to export a single video file that also contains ac3 5.1 surround audio?
I can create seperate audio and video files ok, but not a single file?
    Please help...
    Regards
    Andy

You won't be able to do this with just FCPX by itself. You should be able to use Compressor to do this, or you can use Quicktime Pro to create a single .mov file from the separate video/audio files exported from FCPX.
If you use Compressor, you can save the preset and make it available inside FCPX for future use.

  • Can an InCopy editor add, remove and edit a text frame placed inside the main story text frame?

I think I already know the answer to this which is - no. I'll explain why I am asking the question in a second, but the reason I think the simple answer is no is because - text frames are controlled by a designer in the layout file, an editor using incopy can only edit the text and images placed inside text frames, and so cannot resize them, add or delete them.
Ok, so the reason I have asked this.
Is there a way around this so that editors in incopy can edit certain types of text frame that are contained within the main text frame? I'm using these text frames to contain specific paragraph styles, giving them a boxed look and also with an anchored icon in the top left of the text frame depending on the type of paragraph it is. See screenshot as an example of a green text frame that I am using to contain paragraphs of type "tip".
If it is not possible for editors in incopy to add, edit or resize these text frames (green tip frame in the example above), then how else can I style these paragraphs to give the same visual appearance, but without the use of wrapping them in a text frame?
One (not so good) way around this is for the designer to add the text frames in the layout file after he gets the content back from the editor, then moving the "tip" paragraphs into these newly created text frames. However when the editor updates the content in incopy and gets these new text frames in their copy, they can not then delete them if they wish to, or if they add or reduce content inside of these green text frames then the frames dont grow to fit their edited content. So I dont think its a solution for the designer to control the adding, removing and resizing of these frames.
UPDATE: I have just discovered that once a text frame has been placed into the document by the designer and the editor updates their copy in incopy-  they can then use the "Position Tool" to select that text frame - allowing them to resize it, or delete it! Fantastic. But would the editor be able to add these frames in themselves to begin with? Maybe have a document containing all of the objects available to them, copy and paste one of them into the main document and edit its content? Does anyone have any advice on how to go about this? Essentially I would like the editor to control the insertion, editing and removal of these inline text frames.

True. But when all I am trying to achieve is a border around a paragraph, use of a table seems overkill to me. But if thats the only solution I have so far then I will have to go down that route.
It would be useful to have an object libraries panel in InCopy so that editors can drag across predefined text frames into their doc via InCopy, but I cant see that option in InCopy. is there one? I have also thought about exporting the frames as seperate InDesign Snippets and saving them to an objects folder, then when an editor needs to insert one into their doc they simply use File > Place > "Choose required text frame snippet". However I have found that InCopy can't place InDesign snippets so that theory was a failure. Is there another format I could use to save the objects and bring them into InCopy? List below shows my findings so far for trying to save/export a text frame from InDesign and then import into InCopy:
InDesign Snippet (.idms) - can't import into InCopy
InDesign Document (.indd) - imports content as an image - only editable in InDesign
InDesign Template (.indt) - imports content as an image - only editable in InDesign
InDesign Library (.indl) - can't import into InCopy - no panel available in InCopy for object libraries (that I can see...)
InCopy Markup (.icml) - only imports the text, loses the text frame

  • Problem with text frame dropshadow not completely printing to pdf file.

Hi and thanks for your speedy replies!
I am editing a file that had altered corner text frames with a .25 inset and a drop shadow added, .05 stroke and paper swatch. When I deleted text everything shifted so I had to recreate the special frames on select pages. These new text frames are not showing the top and left sides of the frames when saved to pdf file. The right and bottom drop shadow are showing.  What am I missing?
    Cheers!

I am using the latest version in CC. I tried several exports directly from ID, PDF/X-3:2002, PDF/X-1a:2001 and the low res setting, all with no changes.  None showed the left or top border on the frames in question.
So I was getting the first screen shot instead of the second which other similarly formatted frames showed.  I checked every setting I could find and they were all the same.  The problem just occurred after the point in the doc that I had made changes resulting in some pages being deleted and the page formatting being thrown off which I corrected with the appropriate saved page formats.  But when I went to set up the frame dropshadow and accompanying stroke and swatches, the outline just would not show in the pdf although it appeared to be showing in ID.
I've since discovered a work around for the editing so no pages were deleted, but I need to figure out why this happened and what I am not seeing. Perhaps a setting to show the border? Or maybe it is some overall setting that I need to be looking for? Just weird, weird, weird...

  • Is it possible to export a file from Organizer with the list of all the images in an album?

Is it possible to export a file from Organizer with a list of all the images in a certain album? In filling one of my albums I did not save my edited images to the same file... they are spread out a bit.... Now I want them to make a book with them (outside of Elements).

As far as I know, Elements does not have the ability to create lists.
The solution to your problem of making a book outside of Elements is to place all the desired photos in an Album and then select File->Export->As New Files which gives you the ability to make a copy of every photo in the album in a new folder, from which you would create your photobook.

  • Is it possible to export/save Muse pages as PDF files?

As a Web Design / New Media student, the curriculum at my school teaches a combination of Illustrator, Fireworks, and Acrobat Pro for design, wireframing, and prototyping new websites. Muse seems capable of streamlining the process, but is it possible to export the file in PDF format for sharing (assignment submission; offline viewing)? Maybe after publishing, one can convert the wepage to a PDF?
    Any suggestions are appreciated!

Not natively, but you can always screenshot your Design or Layout page and convert that JPG or TIFF to PDF, but Muse does not export pages in that way.

Is it possible to export the page activity report to a pdf file?and is there any api or samples to be reference

Do you mean audit history?   One method would be similar to the following sample that you could extend to create a PDF from the data returned:
    http://www.eyelock.net/blog/archives/533
BUT the method used above via JCR Query is an implementation detail.  For future proofing, you should use the ReplicationStatus status = page.adaptTo(ReplicationStatus.class in your code to get the audit logs for a particular page, rather than a straight JCR query.
