Possible to add comments to a file?

Is it possible to add a comment to a File?
I need to be able to add comments (short sentence) to some archives (TAR and ZIP) that I'm creating, but I don't see any native way of doing this. The best I can think of is to create a log that lists all of the archives in the directory, and records the comments associated with each.
Anyone have a better idea?
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply!
Won't that just set a comment for each entry? I need to be able to tag each archive (both ZIP and TAR) with a comment.

  • Possible to add comments in Pages?

This weekend at a seminar I read all the papers on my iPad, instead of printing them out. Which was wonderful. The only issue I faced was while taking notes, which I eventually did using the Notes app. It would have been wonderful though if it were possible to add "Comments" to the Pages documents, the way we can do in Pages on our Macs. Is it possible to do so in the iOS version of Pages? If not, are there any good alternatives available? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Sure, there is only one version of Pages in iOS for iPad, iPhone and iPod. That's clear enough. If Pages cannot help in inserting comments, are there any other good alternatives that might be helpful--in adding comments on Pages, perhaps also Word (.doc and docx) and even PDF documents? I don't anticipate a single app doing all this but perhaps different apps dealing with these different file formats? All suggestions welcome. Thanks.

  • Add comments to a file name

    Hi
In my VI when I want to collect and save data to CSV , I use curremt date and time for the file name but I would like to also use a popup message and ask if the operator wants to add a comment to the file name ( just a string ) . Could u plz help me how can I implement it in LabVIEW
    thanks

I call BS.  Express VIs are newer than Event Structures by at least 1 version (Events in 6.0, Express VIs in 7Express).  I think what was missing was the scripting capability to manipulate the event structure and they haven't revisited the express VIs for a while.

  • How to add "Comments" and attach files onto a form?

My server is LiveCycle ES 2.5, trial version, Turnkey install / Express mode  with  Reader Extensions.
Client side has IE8 and Reader X 10.1.2.
User interface is the standard out-of-the-box WorkSpace ES.
I have an application that routes a PDF form through a Workflow,
the input/output of the User Tasks is a Document variable that points to the PDF form.
I know that in the WorkSpace, ther's a built-in Attachment "tab" where the user can attach files and get them routed along with the form.
But how about Reader's "attach file" (the paper clip) and annotations (the yellow sticker)?  how to allow users to use those features?
I tried it in the WorkSpace, and when the form is loaded in the IE window, those features were disabled.
    How to enable them?
Do I need to modify the standard Render service? and add 'Apply Usgae Rights' or something?
is there an easier way that I missed?
    thanks

Attachments are lost if your form submits as XDP. If you change the submit type to PDF then server that same PDF back to the next user, the attachments will be there. If you decide for other reasons, you still want to submit as an XDP, take a look at this: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4316578#4316578

  • Is it possible to add path to .property files at runtime?

I have 3rd party jars that require access to property files. I won't know the path to these property files until I execute some discovery code at runtime. Is there some mechanism to add these directories to the path at runtime?

    Hi Marco,
I assume your requirement is :
At design time bind Inuputfield IP1 to ATTR1 and at runtime bind IP1 to ATTR2 on some condition.
Instead of changing the binding you can have two input fields IP1 and IP2 bound to ATTR1 and ATTR2  .
Hide IP2 initially ( Bind attributes of type WDUI_VISIBILITY to the 'Visible' property of IP2 and IP1 )
On the event or condition you want it to change , hide IP1 and unhide IP2.
    I hope it helps.
Please revert in case of issues.

  • Add comments to multiple files w\different existing comments

    hi all,
i've got several thousand songs that i'd simply like to add the word "album" to in the comments field. the problem is, most of them already have comments in that field, and most of these existing comments are unique to each song. so, when i select all the songs i want to add the new comment to and select "get info", the comment field defaults to an empty field. i'm afraid that if i type "album" in the comment field and press the "ok" button, it will over write all of the selected songs existing comments and replace them with the word "album" only. is that true? if so, is there a way to simply append comments to multiple songs with different existing comments?

Welcome to Apple Discussions, Lance. Yes, it's true that if you mass-update any of the ID3 fields you will replace whatever used to be in that field. All your comments would read "album."
I know of no way to append new info. You could, however, display the Comment filed in your library, then sort by it. All blank comments will be together at the top. Select them all, and add "album" to them. At least you'll have "album" on many/most of your songs.

  • Is it possible to allow guests to add comments

I have been searching for a possibility to add comment to a document, there is generally published. I am testing Buzzword as a place for tutorials, and would love to catch attendees comments, without having to manually share it with them, but just give them the publish URL.
    Any insight, work-around is appreciated.
    /Karsten

If I understand your question correctly, the answer is no.
To add comments to a Buzzword document, the user must be signed in and be a Co-author or Reviewer on the document.
If the document has not been shared with the user, or is not in a shared workspace that the user has access to, then the user will not be able to comment on it.

  • How to get crop tool in comment enabled pdf file?

    Hi,
I want to place comments in pdf file using Reader 9. So i opened the pdf file in acrobat 8 and did 'Enable for commenting in Adobe Reader' so that i place the comments in Reader. I need all advanced editing tools. But when i comment enabled Crop tool will disappear. How can i enable crop tool in comment enable pdf?
    Thanks in advance...

You can't. By enabling commenting, you're adding certain usage rights to the document. In order for those usage rights to be preserved, certain types of changes (most) need to be prevented. If such changes were allowed (and actually made), the usage rights would be invalid and Reader would no longer be able to add comments to the file. So you can enable commenting in Reader, or allow for other changes in Acrobat, but not both with the same file.

  • Want to allow commenting in PDF file ?

So how to inable the commenting and how i could i add my comments in the PDF .

The first thing that comes to mind is Adobe Interactive Forms, but since your requirement is way to general, there is no way of telling you how to use it.
So, first read up on Adobe IF to see what it can do for you.

  • In Numbers 08 is it possible to add a link to a file on the local disc within a cell?

In Numbers 08 is it possible to add a link to a file on the local disc within a cell?

As it's a feature asked several times, maybe it will be available in the next version.
I don't know features available in Excel.
Sometimes ago I posted an AppleScript which may perhaps fit your needs.
If you insert in a table pathnames of files stored in your HD, select the cell, trigger the script, open the file.
Here is an updated version :
    --[SCRIPT open_a_file]
Enregistrer le script en tant que Script : open_a_file.scpt
déplacer le fichier ainsi créé dans le dossier
    <VolumeDeDémarrage>:Utilisateurs:<votreCompte>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Numb ers:
Il vous faudra peut-être créer le dossier Numbers et peut-être même le dossier Applications.
Sélectionner la cellule contenant le chemin d'accès
Aller au menu Scripts , choisir Numbers puis choisir  “open_a_file”
    ouvre le fichier.
    --=====
    L'aide du Finder explique:
L'Utilitaire AppleScript permet d'activer le Menu des scripts :
Ouvrez l'Utilitaire AppleScript situé dans le dossier Applications/AppleScript.
Cochez la case "Afficher le menu des scripts dans la barre de menus".
    --=====
Save the script as a Script: open_a_file.scpt
Move the newly created file into the folder:
    <startup Volume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Numbers:
Maybe you would have to create the folder Numbers and even the folder Applications by yourself.
Select the cell containing the pathname
Go to the Scripts Menu, choose Numbers, then choose “open_a_file”
    open the file
    --=====
    The Finder's Help explains:
To make the Script menu appear:
Open the AppleScript utility located in Applications/AppleScript.
Select the "Show Script Menu in menu bar" checkbox.
Save this script as a … Script in the "Folder Actions Scripts" folder

  • How do colleagues add comments and review .psd files in Acrobat?

i work in Photoshop, would like to be able to collaborate with assistants and clients online - like, i believe, Adobe Live used to do...
    thx,
    c.

    Hi Bonus Studio,
If you'd like folks to comment on your files in Acrobat, you'll need to first save your .psd files as PDFs. Then, your assistants and clients can open the PDFs in either Adobe Reader or Acrobat and use the commenting tools to add their comments.

  • SharePoint 2010 Allow User to Add Comments to Files in a Library and to the Header of the Web-Page

    (1) I need to allow an end-user to be able to add comments to files either when they are added to a library or after they are added. I didn't see a Column available for adding to a Document Library for "Comments".
    (2) I need the same user to be able to add text/comments to the Header of the web-page that contains the library (above the library at the top of the screen).
When I (the SP Admin) add the "Content Editor Web-Part" to the top of the web-page that contains the Document Library, the Toolbar disappears. The Content Editor Web-Part would be ideal to allow the end-user to add comments to the Header, but I
    really need the Toolbar available.
Is there another Web-Part that I could use for allowing comments to be added to the Header of a web-page without disabling the Toolbar, or is there a known-fix for allowing the Toolbar to be available and functional after adding a Content Editor Web-Part?
    JCashon

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to add Comments to Files in a Library and to the Header of the Web-Page.
(1)If you use the document content type in the library, it will contain the “Comments” field automatically. When you add the document, you can enter the conments. You can also edit the “Comments” field after the document added.
(2)If you add the add the "Content Editor Web-Part" to the AllItem.aspx Page, you can add the text to the web part as the Header.

  • Is it possible to add pic/diagram to SP file with link to another SP file?

    Hi,
Is it possible to add a diagram, picture, or table to a SP file with link to another SP file?
I know this is possible in, say, Word. For example, I can add a diagram and check a box to include a link to the source file - so that when the diagram in the source file updates, the diagram in my document also updates.
This is also my goal in SP - instead of simply including a link to a document elsewhere in SP (or on the same site in SP), I would ideally like to display a diagram, picture, or table and include (behind the scenes if possible) to the source SP file
so that, when the diagram/table in the source SP file updates, my SP file also updates accordingly.
    For example:
    Instead of:
           The diagram is located in:
           link
    I would ideally like:
Diagram, picture, or table (with link associated with it) - users can click on the diagram or picture if they desire.
The diagram or picture is updated whenever the source SP file containing the diagram or picture is updated (the source SP
file will only contain a diagram, picture, or table)
    Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thank you very much.
