? possible to control server connection

When I first got ATT Uverse, download speed per speedtest.net was dramatically faster than previous DSL, and screens changed very quickly. At that time, use of Google maps and several restaurant rating apps was problematic because each seemed to locate me in a city hundreds of miles away. I decided that the ATT name of my home WiFi was probably similar to one in that city, which was the one Speedtest was then using also?? More recently, my Speedtest speeds have dropped very close to the old DSL speeds, online screen changes--newspapers, etc are again slower, news videos sometimes hang for 20-30 seconds, and Google now knows where I am. In trying different servers with the Speedtest app, all others seem to give faster results than the one 30 miles away now being used by Speedtest by default (and, I assume, the Ipad in routine use?).
Is there anyway to change a setting on the Ipad so my WiFi use will use one of the apparently faster servers? Any useful comments will be appreciated.

Not at the moment.. it is a bug.

  • Possible to disable "server connection interrupted" message?

I have a mac mini (running lion) connected to the TV as a media center with a Time Capsule 4gen. as a router with all my media on. Connected to the Mac mini via cable. The problem is that I verry often get the message "server connection interrupted" on my mac mini. it could be in the middle of a movie playing from the TC and it does not stop playing but the message pops up (internet and wireless also works normal when this happens), witch is really annoying! I then have to do share screen on it from my macbook and press ignore. So my question is; does anyone know what could be the reason for this and have any ideas i coud try to fix it? if not does anyone know if it is possible to disable the message in question or make it "autoignore" it or anything?

  • Using control reference with a Sub-vi over a TCP VI Server connection

I tried to use a Call by Reference Node to run a sub-vi on a remote PC through a TCP VI Server. An output of the sub-vi is connected to an indicator in the main vi using a control reference.
The sub-vi started on the remote PC, but the information from the sub-vi was not passed to the control reference in the main vi. However, if I change the client name to the host PC, ie. running the server and client vi on the same machine, the code works as planned. I wonder if control reference is not suppose to work over a TCP VI Server connection?
Any suggestion would be very much appreciated.

Thank Jean-Pierre for pointing out that Refnums are local to an application and so control reference doesn't work between different applications on separate machines.
In addition to the method shown in Jean-Pierre's example vi, I found that the use of "invoke method: GET control value" and "invoke method: SET control value" can produce similar results. See the attached files for an example. In this example, the indicator on the local vi is used to monitor the progress of the remote vi and the local control is used to stop the remote vi. So the data synchronisation between the two vi is not important here.
However, you may notice the indicator "current counter" in main1_vi.vi doesn't properly interpret the binary string from "invoke method: GET control
value", can someone shed some light on this, please?

is it possible to control users home page in firefox from server?

Maybe OP means for their network users using Workgroup Manager?
I don't think there is a way to do it for firefox.
Unless you can put in a Firefox pref file in their directory when they log in.

  • Dedicated Server Connection Vs Shared Server Connection

    Hi Gurus,
I have few doubts regarding Dedicated Server Connection Vs Shared Server Connection -
    1) How do I know which connection mechanism is configured in my system.
    2) Which connection faster and reliable.
    3) Is there any risk to using shared server connection?
    4) Which concept is new comparatively?
    5) It is possible to restrict specific user for Dedicated Server Connection and other for Shared Server Connection in a same database.

    2) It is possible to restrict specific user for Dedicated Server Connection and other for Shared Server Connection in a same database. You might be able to do something like this by using the RULE parameter with cman, limiting specific users (via local security setups) to specific client IP's and forcing them to particular service names. This is a net services issue, so does not conflict with what Billy said. It assumes you control whether your users will query the db appropriately, too. Many apps don't do that right.

  • Managing Server Connections

I have a variety of machines on my network - Linux, Windows and Mac.
I connect to them using Finder from my MacBook Air using the Connect to Server option.
This is fine except that it seems like I have no control over the credentials it uses when it connects. Although sometimes (first time, but sometimes subsequently too) it prompts for userid and password, and I have valid userid/password connections saved in the keychain, it doesn't seem to use them when it tries to connect afresh. Looks like it tries to connect as guest first even if I've explicitly set userid/password.
So I often find that on connecting to a server I've connected to before, the Finder window sits there for sometime trying something, and ends up with connect failed. Clicking on Connect As... doesn't do what I'd expect with the "..." I would expect a subsequent dialogue box allowing me to specify userid/password, but I don't get that, if I click on it after a failed connection it just tries something again without letting me choose anything.
It must be possible to control the credentials used and stop it wasting time connecting as guest - can someone tell me how?

The comment "you can also connect to any mailbox whose owner has delegated access rights to the login user name" is too generic and doesn't provide the level of detail needed.  I understood that to mean that if the owner delegates just calendar access rights to my user account that I can query their calendar. However this doesn't appear to be the case. The user had to delegate both calendar access and inbox access to my user account before I was able query just their calendar events.
The other way I found to accomplish this is by creating an Exchange account with Exchange Administrator privileges and granting it access to the users mailboxes. I would then use this Exchange account for the username and password in the cfexchangeconnection and could query the events of any users that the Exchange account had access to.

How do I use the time capsule to share itunes music between multiple apple devices? Also, is it possible to control the music on one device using another, and how do you set this up?

unless i'm missing something, i think you got mixed up, this is easy google for walk throughs
i'm assuming this is the new 3tb tc AC or 'tower' shape, if so, its wifi will run circles around your at&t device
unplug the at&t box for a minute and plug it back in
factory reset your tc - unplug it, hold down reset and keep holding while you plug it back in - only release reset when amber light flashes in 10-20s
connect the tc to your at&t box via eth in the wan port, wait 1 minute, open airport utility look in 'other wifi devices' to setup the tc
create a new wifi network (give it a different name than your at&t one) and put the tc in bridge mode (it may do this automatically for you, but you should double check) under the 'network' tab
login to your at&t router and disable wifi on it
add new clients to the new wifi network, and point your Macs to the time machine for backups

  • Is it possible to control itunes dj from other computers on the same network?

is it possible to control itunes dj from other computers on the same network?  we have a computer running itunes connected to our speakers here at work, and we'd like to be able to control it through the other comptuers on the network.  is this possible, or do you have to use iphones/ipads/etc?

AC is corret you can do that.  It might work a bit better for you if you use a wired connection vs a wireless one for the ATV's.

  • Scan to email server connection error for HP Envy 5530

    Hi, Everyone!
I LOVE my printer.  But, I had to add another laptop (both WIndows) - and then had to add a couple of monitors to that laptop (and a docking statiion) and now it doesn't want to scan to my emails any longer after working like gangbusters for months.
I am connected just fine with an excellent signal - but now when I try the Scan to Email feature - a RED X immediately shows up on the right of the control pad and the message says: Server Connection Error. EVEN though I am wirelessly connected just dandy.
I am not a technical person in the least.  I have no idea what to do.  I tried all the turn off, turn on stuff.  Nothing is working.
    Thanks for our help!

    Hello MisoSilly,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand when you scan to email, you're receiving a message stating server connection error using the Envy 5530. I will do my best to assist you! Follow this entire thread on: Re: server connection error.
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
    Have a great night!

Can you connect to the MSSQL database from inside Oracle in (say) a SQL*Plus or SQL Developer session?
In other words, is the problem in the Java or the database linkages? Are you using Heterogeneous Services or Transparent Gateways?

  • Is it possible to control a GPIB instrument by the instrument through GPIB

I'm having a Function generator, it has an in built GPIB, I'm writing an application on oscilloscope which also as GPIB, I have connected the GPIB port of oscilloscope to the FG GPIB port. I tried to send a GPIB command from the oscilloscope to the function generator. I wanted to know whether it is possible to control an instrument from a instrument through GPIB.

The answer is yes and no. There are three categories of devices:
    talker/listener
    talker/listener/controller
    talker/listener/controller/system controller
Most instruments are "talker/listen-only". All they can do is act like a device on the GPIB.
You do run across a few instruments that are "controllers' as well. These instruments can be passed control from the system controller to temporarily control the bus, perhaps to calibrate themselves with a collaborative instrument. To find out if your instrument supports this, you probably need to look in the instrument's user manual.
The other option is for the device to be a system controller. This means that the device can control the bus at bootup (system controller) and run a host-side API (i.e., NI-48
8.2) to control an instrument. This sounds like what you are interested in.
    I hope this helps.

  • In BD87  T /c  is it possible to control user based in Comp code...?

In BD87  T /c  is it possible to control user based in Comp code...?
    Thanks
    Mahi

BD87 is a transaction to work with IDOCs.
one IDOC e.g. for vendor master can have several segments with different company codes.
But you cannot post an IDOC only partially, that is technically not possible and does not make much sense.
Further the IDOC segment in the table is just one huge field, It does not have single fields like company code.It is a generic field that can keep the segments of any IDOC.
In my opinion there is no way to control it at company code level.
In any case you posted it in the wrong forum. BD87 is not a MM transaction.
Hence, moving it to the Abap Connectivity forum
