Possible to create a second handle on a point without moving the first one?

Just had a question about something that often drives me crazy. Sometimes when I'm modifying an object (especially text that has been turned into outlines for logos etc) There are points on the path that I want/need to remove. Many of the times the points I'm removing had part of the curve that made the path look nice and smooth. For some reason Illustrator likes to create two points overlapping each other with a handle extending in opposite directions for each instead of one point with two handles...
In the cases where I have a point on a path with only one handle, whether it overlaps another point or not, is there a way to create a new handle on the opposite side where a handle doesn't exist without moving the handle that is already there? I hate fiddling with the path for 10 minutes afterwards trying to get everything back into the same position again. I would like to be able to drag out a new handle while locking the old handle in place, but the initial behavior of the convert anchor point tool seems to be to get rid of the old existing handle and recreate two new handles which resets everything.
Is there a way around this? A tool behavior option or maybe even a different tool that will let me just add the one handle to the point that is missing without moving or deleting the existing handle on that point? If it matters I'm using Illustrator CS5.5. Thanks for any help in advance!

Thanks for the responses guys! Unless someone comes along with a completely native Illustrator solution I think the Pathscribe tool is what I'm looking for. The unify command in that other post sounds like just the thing for the randomd weirdness Illustrator does when you convert text to outlines etc. and I'll probably mostly use that method for the overlapping points that are created in those case. I would say close to 50% of the time though I need to add a handle to a point that isn't overlapping like where a letter shape curves on one side but is straigh on the other. I guess a good example of that would maybe tip of the "v" shape in stylized or script fonts, they often have a straigh side and curved side. Sometimes it's also me because I'll go with a more straight line concept for a portion of the letter shapes and then change my mind back again, by which time I have removed some of the handles that I want to put back. It sounds like VectorScribe will do exactly what I want the way I want it and save me a lot of time having to zoom way in to get the fine control I need to restore the paths orginial curve.
All in all a pretty solid solution between the two. I'll have to pick up VectorScribe and will use unify where applicable. I don't understand though why this isn't something that Adobe hasn't made a native provisioin for? Seems there would be many times while making a design that you might want to change your mind without having to completely redraw the entirety of a curve, especially if you're doing an illustration from scratch. I thought there had to be a native solution and I was just somehow missing it completely... maybe they don't want to step on the 3rd party vendor's toes who have made plug-ins to deal with this sort of thing? Illustrator has been around a looong time now, seems like they would have come across this more than a few times... maybe I'm just not creating illustrations using the "proper" methods.

In panorama, when I left click and drag to open a new tab group, unclicking doesn't create the new group and left clicking again only creates another group without finalizing the first one.

In Firefox 4.0 beta 11 (Windows 7 Professional) left clicking in panorama creats a new tab group but letting go doesn't finalise the group. I have XP mode on my computer and firefox b11 works fine in the virtual PC.

As long as shes signed in to her Apple ID on her iPad, if she goes to the iBooks app and then to the Store, there should be a section labeled Purchased there, and then she can download the book she wants straight to her iPad since she already puchased once and is authorized to download it to any other iOS device.

Is it possible to create a second Guest network on a Time Capsule?

I have found a few similar posts but they are pretty old and not exactly what i want. In the Time Capsule there is an option for a Guest network. Would it be possible to create a second guest network with the same time capsule? So that it would have internet but would be isolated from the other components on the system?

Not exactly.....as things get tricky. You could add another Apple router...but it would need to be configured in Bridge Mode to work correctly with the "main" router.
A separate Guest Network feature cannot be enabled when the Apple router is set up to operate in Bridge Mode.
This would apply to the "main" Time Capsule as well. So, you would need to insure that the Time Capsule was connected to a simple modem......not a modem/router combination device that is commonly offered by most Internet Service Providers.
Check with your ISP to make sure that they provide you with a simple modem if you want to be able to use the Guest Network feature on any of the Apple routers.

Deleting the account on your phone only removes if from your phone. The account and it's data remain intact and doing so will not effect your daughter's phone.
To do this, first go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn any synced data (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off, and when prompted, choose to keep the data on the phone. When finished, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Then set up a new iCloud account with a different Apple ID and turn any data you want to sync with iCloud (contact, calendars, etc.) back to On. This will upload your data to your new iCloud account.

In the article, you have to click Expand All at the top, then scroll down to the instructions for creating an account on an iPhone, etc. There it says:

This is a part of the larger MacBook Pro connectivity issue. There are several related threads dealing with the MBP's networking problems. If your unit is suffering from this type of difficulty, good luck ... (or a long ethernet cable)
(PS Everybody please make noise on this one so apple comes up with a solution.)

Open a second window from the first one

Hi,
The problem of my application is loosing control when I open the second window, so I know that the problem is the run of the sub VI but I don't find an other possibility to open a second window from the first one knowing that the first sends its vales to the second one. In an other way I want to open two windows simutaneously.
NB: I attached a simple verssion of my application.
Can someone help me please.

Second digital signature invalidates the first one

Hello to all,
I'm having some troubles adding a second digital signature to an already digitally signed PDF. The library that I'm using in order to handle the PDFs is an open source one, so I'm programmatically editing the PDFs. The first PDF I produce, PDF1 (the PDF with one signature), has a valid digital signature. The second PDF I produce, PDF2 (the PDF with the two signatures), has the second signature marked as valid, but the first one as invalid with the following error:
Error during signature verification.
Unexpected byte range values defining scope of signed data.
Details: The signature byte range is invalid
I've read and applied all the "best practices" on PDF digital signature, so I'm adding the second signature in incremental mode and I'm sure that the second PDF has no changes in the first part, this because if I make a binary comparison of PDF1 and PDF2, the first part of the PDF2 equals PDF1. So if you remove the incremental part from PDF2 (after the first %%EOF), you obtain PDF1 again with the valid digital signature. So the problem seems to be in something new in the incremental part of PDF2 that makes Acrobat Reader X thinks that the first digital signature is invalid.

I'm not sure if this helps, but I found something unusual with your PDF2. Just at the beginning of the second incremental update (with the new signature), the first object is added without a carriage return. This make the last line of the previous update looks like this:
%%EOF3 0 obj
May this leads to incorrect parsing and then invalidates the signature? Not sure about that, but as far as I can read offsets, your byte ranges are correct.

Here are two screen shots to show you what I am seeing. The first screen shot shows it allowing me to select (highlighted in blue) my admin user (which is what I am locced in as). The second screen shot shows it allowing me to select the "Guest" user (highlighted in blue). However when I click on the user "Orion" nothing happens. It will not change to highlight that user.

Playing a second swf when the first one's finished

I have 2 swf files (the FLA's too) and want one to play then
the second. - I'd add the second to the timeline of the first, but
the second is a complete site and contains many referenced
"gotoandplay" links which would all need changing. So....I really
just need a way for the second swf to play after the first one's
finished. I tried using the load external movie clip behaviour, but
couldn't make it work. Can I use the first swf as a preloader
without affecting the timeline on the main swf? I canspare a couple
of frames at the start of the second movie for that, but don't know
how to set it up - can anyone help?
I also want the custom cursor to remain only in the first
swf, and go back to default on the second.

I think you may want to create a 'master' loading swf, rather
than loading the second movie into the first, and use the
MovieClipLoader class to call and load new movies into the master
container.
Set up a new swf, that is the same size as the others. you'll
set up a function on the first frame and then use that function to
load all subsequent content into the master document. You can also
use methods of the class to add things like preloaders and other
event handlers. so for instance, at the last frame of the intro
swf, you'd add a 'call' to the function in the master telling it to
load the next movie in the sequence. I'll add the call you will
need on the bottom of the code example below.

I'm not one to solicit, however I have (awhile ago) developed
a Component that you may be interested in for your site, although
it has not been package and ready for distribution, it does
function - called 'glitterMouse', and produces a twinkling mouse
trail effect when you move the cursor, mush like the onRollOver
animation that you'd painstakingly made (ouch) except that it use
random twinkle generation at run-time, and has many property
settings, like color, quantity, gravity, and so on. It might be a
nice addition to your 'wand' cursor, and would not 'replace it' as
it's not a 'cursor' but an effect generator.

OK the code for you, add this to the first frame of the
'master' swf, then add the code at the bottom to the end of the
intro swf in the last frame.
EDIT: this is AS2 code, to use AS3 code do something more
like the methods as described above, yet I would still consider
placing all content within a 'master' loading doc, and replaceing
or removeing previously loaded children.

In case anyone keeps track of such things, I'm among those folks who really doesn't recall ever being asked to create an iTunes backup password, but that's irrelevant to my question.
I'm not in any bind. I don't need my backup files to restore anything. I will shed no tears as they are moved to the Recycle Bin (indeed, I will gladly do the deed myself).
That said, it appears impossible to create a new backup password without knowing the previous one.
If the only "solution" is to wipe my iPhone's memory and start from scratch, I will be a sad camper.
Any help? Are backups to iCloud encrypted?

Be super critical & meticulous (and whatever other synonym I missed) when you get a new password:
Write it onto your bedroom wall, or someplace off of a computer that you will always find.
If you active 2-step verification, the key is VERY important. Lose it & you may be toast.
If you don’t 2 step verify, & use the Security Question instead --> do not lose, or forget the answers.
Very nearly the same outcome!!!!!: Bad experience.
If you add a 2nd email address, make sure its a RESCUE address not just an alternate address.
If you lose these, you lose access to your 3rd party purchases via Appstore for future upgrade. That will make you VEWY, VEWY UNHAPPY. Apple new OS versions do update, but add a new device & likely you will be unable to use your content on that device. It will never load if the ID locks up.
