Possible to share an FCPX Library on a single server?

So we are currently in post-production on a presentation, and our deadlines require us to have multiple editors working off a single FCPX Library. I'm wondering if it's possible to upload a single library bundle to our server, so two editors can access it at the same time. If possible, will all the added timelines, synced files, and assets from each editor be saved to the library simultaneously (i.e. As if the server were acting as a Cloud)?
If anyone has experience or feedback regarding this, I would appreciate it very much!
Specs: FCPX 10.1.2
iMac OSX 10.9.4., 3.4 GHz i5, 24GB ram

I have itunes match. its good but its not perfect. it downloads wrong versions of songs. for example it downloads the censored version of many of my songs. plus it doesnt do podcasts, movies, tvshows, books.
plus it doesnt show my smart playlists in the same track order as on my computer. its good but it has bugs and shortcomings.
thanks for the suggestion but i'd like to try the way i initially posted about.

Not really.  You should not be sharing an Aperture library over a network.  It's not designed for that and you'll likely corrupt your library at some point.

  • Can I share an iTunes library on a Mac Server?

What I would like is to have one iTunes library on my home Mac that is accessible on my MBP, iPad, and iPhone.
I would like to be able to be away from home, on my iPhone, iPad or MBP connected to the internet, and open iTunes and it be the identical iTunes library that is on my Mac running Apple server software at home. Is this possible without third party software?
I know it's possible to share designated folders, but is it possible to share one iTunes library similar to how its possible to share one Contacts library on the server? So that its seamless and invisible.
in other words, does the Apple server software make it possible to use home sharing over the internet?
    has anyone done this?
I have never done this so thank you for your help in advance.

  • Hi. I have a MacBook Pro, my wife has a MacBook Air - is it possible to share a photo library and still be able for both of us to access it when not on the same network?

For example, she often works away and we both obviously would like access to the photo library while she is away.
Upon her return I would then need to sync the library with any new photos either of us has taken. We also both have iPhones with separate apple id's so would need to sync both to a single library if possible?

There is not yet a reliable way to keep an Photo library on a network volume, that you can access remotely and share between multiple users. The syncing over the network will corrupt the libraries, and merging two iPhoto libraries requires third party tools, like iPhoto Library Manager.
With Aperture instead of iPhoto you could merge libraries, but still not have the library on a server for remote access.
It would be easier, if both of you kept your own copies of the iPhoto library on your macs and used the shared photo streams to add any new photos taken by each other.

  • Is it possible to share an iTunes Library?

I have 3 macs and the airport extreme. I would like to have one iTunes library on an external drive attached to the extreme where I download and rip all music and then be able to share it across all 3 macs.

  • How can I share the FCPX library so another user on the same iMac can access and edit it?

I need to let another user access our Library file to add some subtitles to a video I'm editing.
This is a breeze with iMovie now, as I moved the Library to the Users/Shared folder and changed permissions so the other user can read+write.
I tried the same with FCPX and then tried to launch FCPX from the other user's profile, but it wouldn't work saying it needs permissions, even though I did the thing with permissions.
After some playing around, I broke it and had to use that Preference File eraser because the Library stopped working even on my account.
Is there a way to ensure the library can be accessed by both of us, on the same iMac? (Note: I was logged out while trying to get the second user to work).

    Thanks.
If it's in the Shared folder, then for whatever reason FCP is busted and won't work?
Have a 1TB Fusion drive, wouldn't this make editing stuff slower if it's an external drive?

  • Is it possible to share an iTunes library on 2 Macs with 10.5 & 10.6?

I use Dropbox to sync my iTunes library between my MacBook Pro and iMac and I'm thinking of upgrading my iMac to Snow Leopard and leaving the MBP on Leopard for a bit.
Will this work? Or, am I foolish for even thinking about this?
The MPB is a work computer so I have to convince my PC tech department that the upgrade to 10.6 is necessary but I'm sick of waiting to upgrade my home computer.
Thanks for any replies and I did extensively search for this problem both in this forum and the wider internet,
    Chris

  • Can I share an iphoto library on a hard drive

    Hi,
I want to share pictures between two macs at home. Rather than have the iphoto library on one of the computers I was wondering if it's possible to share an iphoto library from my TimeCapsule hard drive. I've tried this but each time I launch the library on the hard drive it opens the library file on my laptop.
Any ideas/suggestions on how I can share an iphoto library on an external hard drive between computers?
    Thanks,
    Jason

Why create one if what you really want to do is move the one you have?
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
Other than that, to move albums/rolls/events and pics plus accompanying metadata between libraries use iPhoto Library Manager

  • How to share a object library

    Dear Adobe Community,
I am using the Adobe (JetForm) Output Designer Version 5.4.0. 130
As we are working in a team on several forms (IFDs), which include
some objects from a object library, we would like to share the same library
within the team. I could not find any option to export / import objects from one
    library to another one.
Is there a possibility to share the same library with multiple users, for example on a
network-share-drive? If yes, how can we implement this?
Thanks in advance for your input.
    Best regards
    Jan

    hi Michel,
Here is all the info I have on sharing.
    SHARING IPHOTO LIBRARIES
Sharing libraries between users on the same local network
You can also share a library on the same machine between users the same way.
Sharing libraries between users on the same machine...
-both users must have sharing enabled in their iPhoto Preferences
-both users must be logged in and have iPhoto running
-Remember that you can only view the other library. You can't edit the photos or play the saved slideshows or view the made books or burn them to CD or DVD. The books and slideshows will show up as an album. You can play that album as an "on the fly" slideshow. You can drag images from the sharing library to your library in the source column to import them to your library. You can then edit, add to albums, books, slideshow, etc.

SHARING ONE IPHOTO LIBRARY BETWEEN USERS ON SAME MACHINE
You can try one of these three methods:
1- Use iPhoto Library Manager-the paid version
The documentation page will give instructions on how it is done.
2- Sharing one iPhoto library between several users on one machine
3- Share an iPhoto Library in tiger Using ACL's
4- I have also read about ShareAlike
There is no other info on the site about how it works.
I strongly urge anyone wanting to try any of the methods for sharing one iPhoto Library folder among more than one user to backup all iPhoto Library folders before attemptin anything.

  • Can I share my iTunes library with my iphone

I thought it might be possible to share my iTunes library with my iphone. I turned home sharing on in my iTunes, but apparently my laptop needs to stay on yo share. How can I share my music with my iphone from my laptop without physically putting them on phone?

    1. Your iTunes on computer must be running and Home Sharing is activated.
    2. On iPhone's Settings > Music > under HOME SHARING : the same Apple ID as on computer.
    3. After the above are done, start iPhone's Music app > More... (bottom right) > Shared > select your computer iTunes Library.
    4. After the circle completed, tap Music and choose whatever music you fancy.

  • How can I share my iPhoto library with my wife's iPad?

Is it possible to share my iPhoto library (Yosemite) with my wife's iPad? She doesn't have a separate mac, but she does have her own apple ID.

    No
You can share selected photos using PhotoStream - you can not share the library
Next year the Photos App for the Mac should be able to share the library on iCloud using iCloud photo library

  • Share iphoto'13 library to ipad or iphone

Hello, I would like to know if it was possible to share iphoto'13 library to ipad or iphone, and which apps to do it?s

You can't do with photos the same way you can with music. The only way you can share those photos with your iPad and not have to upload those photos to the iPad is to create Shared Photo Streams from iPhoto on your Mac.
Each shared PS can hold up to 5000 photos.  You can have up to 100 shared streams.
See this Apple document for further details: iCloud: My Photo Stream and iCloud Photo Sharing limits.

  • Is it possible for two apple IDs to share an iTunes library?

Me and my brother each have our own apple IDs. Is there anyway we can share an iTunes library for all the media available including apps and not be able to see each others emails and keep our own progress in games? The devices we use are iPhone 5 and iPad mini.

o I installed from our 10 server license pack.
Note that it's actually a 10 client license, not a 10 server license. As Templeton said, for each system on which you want to install the ARD administration application, you need to purchase a separate copy of ARD.
How do I get different serial numbers on each machine from the same license pack?
You don't. If you want to have the administrator application installed on two systems, you will need to purchase a second 10-client copy of ARD.

You can't connect directly to the external drive, but should be able to use iTunes Home Sharing via the laptop.
