you are allowed two installations and activations with each single user license.
just use your installation cds and your serial number to install on your new computer.
if you no longer need cs6 on your old computer or that old computer has your 2nd installation/activation, open one of the adobe programs and click help>deactivate. you can then uninstall from your old computer.

I had iTunes installed on one computer but the program was removed so I reinstalled it on another computer and thought that the songs on my iPod would automatically be uploaded into iTunes. Pressing "Yes" when iTunes brings up the dialogue window asking whether you want to replace the songs on your iPod with the songs in iTunes unfortunately does exactly what it says. If you linked to an empty iTunes it will have erased your iPod as there were no songs to replace yours with. Would it be possible to move the CS6 program from an old laptop to a new one somehow? Someone told me that I could unregister the program from the old laptop and transfer to the new one and reregister there. I still, thankfully, have the package and the CDs that I downloaded the program from. I don't know how to go about transferring and setting everything up again since it's been a while. I have three computers: a desktop, an old laptop, and a newer laptop. I would love more than anything to try to get the CS6 on the new laptop so can just have two computers to juggle with instead of three. The CS6 program is the only reason why I'm hanging onto the old one, which I don't know how much longer it can/will last since it's about 7 years old and the harddrive isn't passing the monthly inspection it does and the USB ports are somehow crooked inside since it takes a while for it to recognize a USB. Bought a new battery recently just to keep it running a little bit longer. I'd appreciate any suggestions on the CS6 if have any!

I know that LR is licensed so you can have it on two computers. I'm currently using an older powerbook. I'd like to buy LR now to take advantage of the discount, but I know I'll get a new computer soon -- is there a mechanism in place to deactivate the installation of LR on the older computer when the new one comes around?

I would just uninstall on the old computer and install on the new one, using your serial number. I don't think there is any other sort of validation. I hope not - I'm moving my Lr to a new hard drive on Thursday.

Welcome to the forum.
I can think of three basic ways to accomplish what you wish to do:
Use the Project Archiver to archive your Project (and check the box to gather the media files), to an external HDD. Probably the easiest way to do it.
Copy the Project and ALL media files to an external HDD, but be prepared to relink the media files to the Project, as the drive letter (part of the Absolute Path) will have changed.
Edit loosely, and Share to an AV file, which will be Imported into a New Project on that second computer. Or, edit VERY tightly, and do the same. I like the first, as removing, replacing Transitions, etc., can be much more difficult, unless that "tight edit" is 100% done.

This really depends on how technical you want to get, and how much of the library data you want to retain. First, there is getting the actual song files over to your new computer. If both computers are on the same network and are on iTunes 9, you can use home sharing to transfer the song files to your new computer.
Once the files are transferred, now you have to get all of the metadata transferred, like Playlists and Song Ratings. There is a method for doing this that involves editing your Library.xml file to transfer Playlists, Playcounts, etc..
If all you want to transfer is your Playlists and song files, there are programs that will back up your playlists so you can transfer them to a new computer, but if you're able to do the above XML edits (which are pretty simple), that is preferred (and cheaper).

I dont know if you have your music on your other computer was on itunes, but if it was, make sure that you signed into your itunes account on your other computer. If you are signed in then your music should show up in your library.

Have both computers running and have iTunes open on both computers.
Now, in the iTunes on the computer you want to transfer music to, select the library that you want to transfer music from, as per the following screenshot:
Once the other library loads, go down to the bottom of the screen and in "Show:" select "Items not in my library":
If you want to import all of the songs you can now see, head up to the iTunes menu bar and go "Edit > Select all". Then head down to the bottom of the screen again and click the "Import" button in the bottom-right-hand corner.
If there's a lot of stuff in the library you're transferring from, the transfer may take some time.
