Post Cost of Sales in PS after Result Analysis

Hi SAP experts,
I'm testing SAP EC&O best practice solution at this moment.
I executed KKAJ (results analysis) and both Cost of Sales and WIP were calculated correctly.
COS: for a TECO WBS, which already have billing document
WIP: for other WBS which is still in progress.
I already saved this results analysis, however, when I execute settlement (CJ8G), I can only find the posting to FI of WIP. (Dr GL WIP account/Cr P&L WIP account). My expect is to have COS posted to FI as well (to recognize COS for the billing of completed WBS above).
Kindly help me to figure out what I was missing here? I don't know at what step COS will be posted to FI. I searched all configuration document in Best Practice but cannot find any configuration for Results Analysis & Settlement for COS account.
Thanks so much for your help.

  • Cannot post cost of sales to operating expense cost center

Each time I try to enter a journal (document type SA) using transaction code ZF02 I get the following error message"Cannot post cost of sales to operating expense cost center" Message no. ZABAP005.
Even though the message is appearing currently in the system there is an identical journal that was previously entered successfully using the same cost center and G/L account combination.
    Any assistance will be appreciated.

  • Cost elements not being recognized in results analysis

    Hi,
I have set up the RA update correctly as shown in this screen shot http://wikisend.com/download/465092/ra_log.JPG however i am not sure why the system still says it cannot find the cost elements assignment. I ran kka1 with full log to see what config parameters the system is considering and what are the cost elements which are still not mapped. The screen shot above is the result of kka1 execution.
If you cannot view the screen shot please see the following of the same KKA1 results :-

  • Business Content for Product Cost by Sales Order

    Hi,
We need to do reporting on costs associated to Sales Orders. The corresponding R/3 Area is "Product Cost by Sales Order" in Cost Object Controlling. We have looked at the standard cube for Cost Object Controlling (0PC_C01) but this cube only contain costs related to manufacturing orders, whereas we need to look at costs associated with sales orders after Result Analysis.
Have you guys any ideas which content that might support this, if any?
    Many thanks!
    / David

    Hi Christian,
please refer to SAP Note 584791: <a href="https://websmp208.sap-ag.de/~form/handler?_APP=01100107900000000342&_EVENT=REDIR&_NNUM=0000584791&nlang=E">BW-BCT-CO: Costs not extracted on sales orders</a>.
Unfortunately there's no DataSource providing the data you need for your analysis scenario. A custom development is needed (<i>awful!!</i>)
    <b>Note 584791 - BW-BCT-CO: Costs not extracted on sales orders</b>
    <b>Symptom</b>
In R/3, costs are posted directly to sales orders. The costs have to be analyzed in the BW system. In the standard system, however, this data is not extracted into the BW system.
    <b>Other terms</b>
    0CO_OM_OPA_1; 0CO_OM_OPA_6
    <b>Solution</b>
    1. There are currently no DataSources for costs on sales orders in the standard BW Business Content. Unfortunately, there are currently no resources scheduled for a new development in this area either.
    2. Therefore, the DataSources and the Business Content must be created in the customer project within the framework of consulting as a customer solution concerning the generic extraction options of the BW Service APIs or function modules you have programmed yourself for extracting data.
    3. Technical background information about costs on sales orders:
The transaction data is available in the following R/3 tables
COSS and COSP - Totals records or COEP - Line items.
This concerns records for the VB* object numbers.
The master data of the sales orders is contained in the VBAK and VBAP tables.
The 0CO_OM_OPA_1 and 0CO_OM_OPA_6 DataSources only extract costs for orders with master data in the AUFK table. These types of requests always have OR* object numbers. Therefore, these DataSources cannot be used for sales orders.
However, you may be able to assign requests from the AUFK table (for example, maintenance orders or production orders) to a sales order through the AUFK-KDAUF table field.

  • Product cost by sales order - conceptual clarity required

    Hi,
We are a manufacturing company with both Make to Stock and Make to Order Scenarios. In cost object controlling, we have made the settings for product cost by order. Now, the question is whether product cost by sales order is a mandatory setting in MTO scenario. I understand this is a conceptual question but i never got the clarity after reading help files, threads and blogs.
I'll put down my understanding - pls correct me.
If i do the product cost by sales order, there will be a statistical cost object ie sales order. Now every cost incurred (with a component split) will be recorded stastically in the sales order in case of production orders created from S.O.s
If I don't do the setting i cannot get a component wise split for the cost of sales order to do any analyses. but still I'll have the COGS which i'll capture to COPA and take the profitability.
Can you please give me some more clarity on this scenario? Are there any other factors/ advantages/mandates in product cost by sales order?
    Best Regards
    Vimal

    Hi  Vimal
Prod Cost by SO is done in the case of MTO.. Here, you have 3 possible scenarios
    A. Only Qty i.e. GR from Prod order is tagged to Sales Order.. Sales order is not a CO Object....
This scenario is as good as MTS... Only that GR is tagged to SO....
Your costs are collected on Prod order....
PGI uses GBB-VAX i.e. does not post to sales order... Billing updates revenue and COGS to costing based COPA
    B. SO is cost obj with non valuated stock (SAP recommends this)
    C. SO is cost obj with valuated stock...
    B -
Prod Order is settled upon sales order.. GR from prod order does not update any acc doc
Sales order is settled to COPA.. Here you can use a PA Trf Str where in you have replicated your Cost Comp Str... i.e. You can create as many assignment lines in KEI1 as your CCS in OKTZ and assign each one of them to a separtae value field
No question of variances in this case
    C
Prod order is not settled upon sales order.... GR from Prod order updates acc doc.... However, variance from prod order can be settled to the sales order if you create variance account as a cost element... Else, it is settled to COPA
Upon PGI, the COGS is posted to Sales Order as a single line item
Here, in your PA Trf Str, you would create an Assignment line and tick "Qty Billed/Delivered".... This would update the Billing Qty to COPA upon settlement of Sales order
This Qty update will trigger KE4R.... i.e. You need to assign CCS to VF in KE4R for PV=01 and Rec Type = C.... This would update the CCS in COPA as per the Sales Order cost estimate
The Costing Key in KE40 should refer to "Sales order cost estimate" and not "Std Cost estimate"

  • Results analysis data is calculated through sales order

    Hi All,
I m trying to calculate WIP of one process Order through KKAX. But I am getting the below error
Results analysis data is calculated through sales order 300002423 001000
    Message no. KJ112
    Diagnosis
The order you selected for WIP calculation or results analysis is assigned to a sales order. A results analysis key was entered for this sales order.
    System Response
The system determines results analysis data for orders assigned to sales order items through the results analysis for the sales order.
    Procedure
Carry out results analyis on sales order 300002423 001000.
This process Order is related to Sales Order and I have checked the Result Analysis key is attached to Sales Order.
Please help me out in this issue.

  • Technical Result Analysis Cost element - OKG2

    Hi,
Need some inputs on Techincal Result analysis cost element(Whats the purpose and its use)
How is it different from those which we assign in Line ids.
    Thanks & Regards,

Cost element created for the following internal purposes:
For calculating work in process ( WIP calculation)
    For results analysis
    Work in Process
When work in process is calculated, the following data is updated under this cost element:
    Valuated actual costs
    Calculated costs
For the calculation of work in process, the valuated actual costs and the calculated costs are only used for internal purposes and do not require separate cost elements. All that is needed is a technical results analysis cost element.
    Results Analysis
In results analysis, the following results analysis data is updated under this cost element:
    Valuated actual costs
    Calculated costs
    Capitalized profit
    Calculated revenue
    Revenue in excess of billings
    Revenue surplus
    Reserves for imminent loss
    Creation of reserve
    Usage of reserve
    Value adjustment
Results analysis data calculated by the
    POC method such as:
    POC Profit increase
    POC Profit decrease
    POC Loss creation
    POC Loss cancellation
    POC Loss realization
    Other cost elements
Valuated actual costs for complaints and commissions
Variances in variance calculation for collective orders
The results analysis cost element for the results analysis data is only for internal purposes, so you don't need to create a separate cost element for each piece of results analysis data. You only need a technical results analysis cost element.

  • Result analysis for Direct Postings

    Hi All,
I have a new requirement for Result Analysis determination at service order level
Requirement is while posting cost to service order we have two costs, one is through Activity (KP26) and another is direct posting using KB11N.
    Both have different cost elements
615000 is for activity pricing using KP26 which posted 120 $
195009 is for direct cost posting using KB11n which posted 150$
Now after the actual cost is posted to service order we are doing result Analysis using KKA1, I am getting 120+150 in WIP. But requirement is system should ignore cost of direct postings using KB11N from WIP and it should calculate 120 alone  in WIP
I hope there is no settings using DIP profile to control this, i read some help and it says using OKG4 and OKG5 this can be controlling
I tried using OKG4 with Line id and assigning Category as N , but it is not ignoring
Could you please guide on how to ignore direct cost entries being determined to WIP. I have a vague idea on OKG4 and OKG5
    thanks for your help
    santosh

    Hello,
While OKG4 can achieve however please bear in mind that since you are not going to settle this cost anywhere, cost will always seat of Service order. When you try and close service order you will get error that not all cost is settled, this will further impact your month end RA / Settlement job.
I know we can still close service order having cost but that requires setting on Settlement Profile and most of organization have SOX which does not allow them to close Cost object which has balance onto it.
I am side tracking bit but wanted to bring this up as down steam issue.
    Thanks
    Parth

  • Cost-of-sales accounting / DUMMY-substitution for CO posting w/o func. area

    Dear experts,
we activated Cost-of-sales accounting (special ledger - no use of NewGL functionalities).
We use the SAP "Standard substitition" in FI to make sure that all postings on P&L accounts go to special ledger. If no functional area can be derived, posting is assigend to Dummy functional area.
    So far so good.
My question is: Is it possible to set up a "similar" substituition in case of CO postings with secondary cost element (e.g. Internal activity allocation, Overhead Rates) on other CO-object without functional area.
e.g. Internal activity allocation from Cost center to production order. No functional area assigned to production order.
I hope you unterstand my question for this issue.
Thanks in advance for your reply.
    regards,
    Butch

    thanks for your answer.
I added the filed FKBER in table VWTYGB01.
Now I can select field "functional area" for CO Substitution.
nevertheless substitution does not work and set functional area on Dummy FB 9990 for CO postings to CO-object without Functional area.
Thats curious because I maintained exactly the same Substitution on an other SAP System (IDES Test System) and here it works.
    Any ideas?
Are there further settigs required after maintenance of table VWTYGB01??
    Thanks in advance

  • How to keep the overall sales price same after basic material cost changes

We have a below requirement from clientu2026
Sales Order with quantity 100 created. Letu2019s say the Basic material cost is $10  each and after the pricing procedure of SD (i.e taking condition types etc in account) overall sales order price came to $1200 .
After sales order creation material cost has changed to $12  each. Now if the same sales order line item is split to 80 and 20, we still want the overall sales order price ( i.e taking both the line items of 80 and 20) to be $1200 .
Is it possible to achieve the above requirement? If yes, pls share the possible solution.

    1)  Letu2019s say the Basic material cost is $10 each
    2)  overall sales order price came to $1200 .
    3)  we still want the overall sales order price ( i.e taking both the
line items of 80 and 20) to be $1200 .
I think you are confused over material cost and selling price.  From SD perspective, whatever you maintain in VK11 for your pricing condition type (PR00), that will fetch into your sale order.  This means, I presume, you have maintained in VK11 for the given material as USD 1200 and this will only fetch into your sale order.  Cost will vary automatically depending upon the material valuation type and you need not bother about this
    thanks

  • Result Analysis(WIP) not posted after 4 cycle run

    Hi,
Every month value is posted in Result Analysis GL account for WIP. But we found in period 10 and period 11 value is not posted Result Analysis GL account after running 4 cycle run (Overhead calculation, WIP calculation, Variance calculation and Settlement). What may be reason ??
    Regards,
    Samrat

    Hi Christian ,
One question related to Cut-Off period regarding WIP calculation which myself and Ajay were discussing 15 days  back..
Is it required to change the cut-off everymonth when we calculate WIP . In my client.. then donot do that .. but still we calculate the WIP..
Is the significance of cut-off period is to tell the system the first period to calculate WIP .. during implementation .. My client never changes that and its in a MTS ( Process Order Senario )... but calculates WIP every month.

  • How to post costs after project close?

I wish to post costs to a project ( WBS/Network) after the status is set to close?
Can you please tell me how we can do it.

In the Closed status you can no longer make any changes to the project hierarchy. The status is passed on to subordinate WBS elements.
    The status allows
You to post actual costs to orders and networks that are assigned to the WBS element, as long as their status permit this
    The status prohibits
You from assigning networks, production orders or CO orders to the WBS element.
You from posting actual costs to the WBS element
The status deactivates assets in construction that are assigned to the WBS element.
You can cancel the Closed status. In this case the system sets the Technically completed status.
However, it is best not to post costs to the subordinate WBS/network either. If required, undo the CLSD status and post.
