Post Leopard Installation - Transfer data from "Previous System" folder

After the first attempt to install Leopard and got the evil blue screen, I had to reinstall my old Tiger from the original installation disks, then attempted a new installation of Leopard. This time I chose Archive and Install as one support article suggested, and chose Preserve user and network settings as instructed. This time the Leopard installation was successful, but now how do I retrieve my data (photos/itunes/mail)etc. from the "Previous System" folders?

There should be no need to sync the files. A previous system folder happens when you do an archive and install, so what's in that folder is identical to what your Mac was when you last did one. Presumably you've changed a lot of things since then and wouldn't want to go back.
Unless there are a few files you deleted and want back, then just copy them over. Then delete the entire thing, it's using up disk space.

  • How to transfer data from legacy system  to SAP

    Hi Friends,
I would like to know the process and the steps followed to transfer data from my legacy system to SAP.
Suppose if i have all the data in the form of Excel sheet or doc type. How can i transfer this data into SAP.
    Please explain the steps followed.
    Appreciate your help
    Anil

    Hi ,
Conversion of legacy data into SAP can be uploaded using a standard SAP Tool called LSMW ( TCode:LSMW).
the below link gives a brief explanation of the LSMW tool
    http://tutorialsap.com/abap/sap-lsmw-tutorial-with-steps-to-create.html
There are various methods to upload data within LSMW. If the number of records are very high like Article Master or  Conditions for Retail the IDOC method must be used.
    Standard IDocs
    1. Article Master - ARTMAS
    2. Conditions - COND_A
    3. Source list - SRCLST
    4. Customer Master or WRF3/WRF6 tables - DEBMAS
    5. Vendor master- CREMAS
Etc. Use transaction code WE60 to see the structure of each of the idocs. New enhancements can be done for the idocs if the required field is not available.

  • Ical data from Previous System

I recently had to 'Install and Archive' my G4 10.2.8, in doing so it archived most of my data in the new folder 'Previous System'. I now open my Ical and can't seem to get any of my previous data. Does anyone know where the past Ical data is stored once the system has been archived, and where should I put it once I have found it.
Thanks for any help you can give.

    Hi,
    you can create the same...
but normal practice what we do is create swc for each system so that it is easy to maintain and easy to extend in the future..
or else follow some conventions if you are just starting the things..

  • Can I copy newer system (10.6.8.) from previous system folder after archive and install with (10.5.4)?

    Rightyho,
had trouble with extensions in 10.6.8 and had to re-install with original disks 10.5.4.
    Did an archive and install.
In my (dated) Previous System Folder are Appl / Library / System / User folders.
Copied my User folder back no problem.
Can that also be done with the newer system? No info in support.
Time Machine won't migrate because of newer system and I have only a disk image of Snow Leopard and can't burn double layer DVDs.

  • How can I restore folders and files from Previous Systems folder

I have been unable to migrate files (or even find the option to migrate files) located in my Previous Systems folder. I've been able to change the Privilege of these files to Read & Write (though my Permissions still indicate "You can only read.") and drag them from my previous Users folder to my current desktop, which creates a situation where I have them but am still unable to alter them (or delete them).
    thanks, all.

Here's my exact issue: I've spent many hours converting vinyl records to mp3s, which were then stored in the iTunes folder of my previous system. Upon performing the Archive and Install, all of these files were located in my Previous Systems>Users>"X">Music folder, which initially could not be opened, prompting the notice, "The folder Music could not be opened because you do not have sufficient access privileges." So, I clicked "Get Info" and changed the Privilege from Read Only to Read & Write. From there I could open the folder, and as you pointed out, move these files wherever I chose. The problem is that I can't use them in any practical sense; I can't import them to my iTunes library and I can't delete them, being notified, "The operation can't be completed because backup items can't be modified." Which, would lead me to believe that I have yet to restore them properly.

  • Transfer data from legacy system to sap through rfc

There is an Excel-sheet where a user will enter some records, this excel-sheet should be automatically transferred to SAP. How it can be done? How can I see that records and how this link would be stablished?Give me the detail example! please help...!

    hi,
You can write a program which will be run at scheduled intervals. You can crate a job for this.
This program will read the file either by OPEN DATASET, READ DATASET
for GUI_UPLOAD ... depending on where the file is located.
Then you can do the processing of each record using a BDC to insert recordsinto SAP. This will be done by doing a transaction recording in SHDB.

  • Trashing Previous System Folder??? Question

Did a archive/install of OS about a week ago.. It was successful.]
Fixed my corrupt issue/Everything is working great.
I've reinstalled applications that I need to...
I've checked to see that everything I want to be here now--is here.
(Music, Photos, Documents, Bookmarks, etc.)---It's all here.
My question is: Is it safe to trash the "Previous Systems" Folder?????
It's presently sitting on my HD. It's (understandably) a big file---I'd like to toss it.
    Can I? Safely?
    Thanks for your help.

    jonnylovemac,
    Apple Says:
You might wonder "What do I do with the Previous System folder?" It may contain items that you need. To determine this, once you've finished configuring, installing, and updating your applications, you can compare the Previous System to the new System. If there are things in the Previous System folder that aren't in the new System folder, copy them over or reinstall. If you're not sure what some items are (and don't seem to need them), leave them in the Previous System folder. Once you're comfortable that you've got everything you need out of it, you can delete the Previous System folder (or leave it around if you have enough free disk space).
Based upon what you listed in your post, you can safely trash the Previous System folder.

  • Want to transfer data from 2 source systems

    hi everybody ,
i want to transfer data from 2 source systems into a info cube, how can we do that and  i dont want to transfer duplicate data from two source systems. like i have 1,2,3,4 records in one source system and 1,5,6,7 records in the other system.i want to transfer 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 in to the cube. can u help me to solve this problem?

    Hi
The solution given by Paolo will not work 100% correct.
Even if you create ODS and with record number as key of  ODS the data in ODS will be record no 1,2,3,4,5,6,7
But data of record 1 will be overwritten (first it will hold data from 1st source system and then from 2nd source system) since record number is key. Also you can not differentiate the values of data that means which data is coming from which system.
For this you need to use compouding of infoobjects. In this expample, record number should be compounded with Source system ID infoobject-0soursystem. Then your ODS will contain source system ID along with record number as keys and record 1 will not be overwritten.
Have a look at SDN threads on compounding-

please , help me out , i wanna transfer data from dot net to sap system. i have no idea abt it.

    Hi,
You need to create a RFC(Remote Function Call) to achieve this.
    Goto Transaction SE37
Import Parameters(What all data you are going to pass from JAVA to SAP)
EXPORT parameters(What all data you want to pass from SAP to JAVA)
TABLES parameters (What all tables you want to pass from JAVA to SAP)
Goto Attributes tab & select Remote Enabled.
Do the coding to insert records in ZTABLE.
    Activate the RFC
Now, in JAVA code to login to sap & call the RFC with the required data.
    Best regards,
    Prashant

  • I have a Mac with 10.5.8 installed, trying to transfer data from it to new machine, can't do it.until i upgrade to higher system?

I have an older Imac with 10.5.8 installed, (I have been told this is the highest version this machine will accept) I just purchased a new Imac and am trying to transfer data from one the old one to the new one, Migration assistant says I can't do it until I install a higher operating system??????????. How do i transfer data if I can't upgrade???

You will need an external USB drive at least the same size as the one in your old computer.
Make a clone of your old computer's hard drive:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
      1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag
it to the Destination entry field.
      5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
          the Source entry field.
      6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the old computer's startup drive.
Connect the drive to your new computer. You can transfer what you want using Migration Assistant. Just select the option for migrating from an external drive.
