POV Functions

We are currently setting up reports with a Current Year and Last Year using prompt for time for each. Is there a function or formula that can be used to automatically set Last Year to be one less than the current? This would eliminate prompting the Year in 2 columns. Ex. Current Year = prompt for time; Last Year = Current Year - 1.

EsstoolYou could use standard Excel functions - Year -1, that will populate the field and then retrieve. Not sure if this is what you want, but worth a try. Hope it helps________________________Andy Kingwww.analitica.co.uk

  • What's user variable name using Smart View POV function (ex:HypGetActiveMember)?

    Hi,
We want to use Smart View POV function (ex:HypGetActiveMember) to get the active member of user variables from HFM forms selected into Excel, but we don't know the user variable name in the following paragraph of Smart View developer guide:
"To uniquely identify the user variable, provide the user variable name rather than the dimension name."
For example, what's the user variable name of Year dimension? How to get the user variable name?
Any information would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi,
I guess user variable name is set by users/developers. I am not very clear on your question. If you have defined some variables to select any members from a dimension then it will be in HFM only. In planning we have two kinds of variables User Variables (we set it from Planning Preferences) and Substitution variable (we set it from Essbase Consol in the backend). Without looking into your application it is difficult to say the user variable name. Like for Year the user variables can be "PreviousYear", "CurrentYear", or "NextYear" etc.

  • User POV does not pop up from Report in task list

    Hello,
I've created a report within Related Content in HFM and added it to a task list--the problem I'm experiencing is when I run the report the User POV does not pop up, rather it simply uses the default POV (ie, whatever is set up in data grids or process management)--this happens if I try to run it directly from Related Content or from the task list. My preferences within Financial Reporting have already been updated to 'On' to preview the User POV and if I run the report from Financial Reporting (ie, Explore) the User POV works fine--so, it seems like adding a report to Related Content disables the User POV from popping up. I'm running on Financial Reporting v11.1.2.1 and HFM v11.1.2.1.104.3701. I can't find anything about it within this forum, knowledge base or as a known issue in the ReadMe for the .104 patch set for HFM.
Can anybody fill me in on if this is functionality by design or a defect?
    Best regards,
    Jason Call

Financial Reports do not work as you might expect when they are used as a related content item. As you already have realized, you will not be able to adjust the FR POV items from inside of HFM.
A 'work around' would be to link to the report and put that link in the Tasklist. This will then open the report 'normally' and you will get the POV functionality that you expect.
To find the link to a report, open the report's properties and look at the 'smartcut' value. (That is a URL directly to the report)

  • POV is stuck for some users in Smartview 11.1.2

A couple of my users go into Excel, log into their Smartview connection and try to perform a Manage POV function. When they do so, various aspects such as Custom 2 and Entity are filled in whereas mine are set to [None] (which mine is functioning properly). When they double-click to change the POV detail in one of the dimensions, it displays an error "Function parameter is missing or misspelled" and they are unable to change any of the settings in their Manage POV function. I know these settings should be pulled from Reporting, so I had the user go in and open up a report from workspace and change their POV around. We were able to get the Custom 2 to now display [None], but Entity is still populated with a value and they still receive the "Function parameter is missing or misspelled". We also tried to change this via Ad hoc but were unsuccessful as well.
I connected to the user's machine and logged into the Smartview connection on his sheet and my POV shows correctly, but when we disconnected and had him log back into the Smartview connection on the sheet, the same problem still exists. The Entity is still showing populated with a specific value. We would like to get this reset to [None] but I am unable to figure out how to do so.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • SmartView 11.1.2 not remembering the last selected Planning page member

    Am I missing something here?
In Planning web forms, if I have a dimension called "Cost Center" in the Page section of the POV of Form A, and I select Cost Center 12345, and then navigate from form A to form B, and form B has Cost Center in the Page section of the POV, Cost Center 12345 is still selected.
This is standard Planning behavior and is selected in the Preference "Remember selected page members".
However, when I do this in SmartView, all of my POV selections are reset to the last level zero member, every time, for every dimension. I am using IDescendants(dimname) to populate my Page selectors, and then using security to limit the members.
I am logged in as the application owner.
The version of Smartview is 11.1.2.0.0.1 (Build 003).
The connection to Planning is shared.
I have tried this on ad-hoc and "normal" forms; the behavior is the same.
Someone please tell me I'm overlooking some incredibly obvious setting. If you come to KScope, I will gladly buy you the beverage of your choice.
    Regards,
    Cameron Lackpour

    Hi Cameron,
I can confirm seeing this as well. It reminds me of the (IMHO) quirky behavior of the Copy POV functionality. It seems like a functionality disconnect somehow.
This sounds like a a good subject to discuss at the Kscope Symposium! :)

  • Hyperion Financial Reporting - Promt & Offset

    Hi Guru's
    Just need one small help.
I have a column in which I want to display month which will be prompted but in second column I need it's -1 offset value. Like If user selected April, then in first column it should display corresponding values to that and in second column it should display March values.
I tried some of the options like Relative to Same As Col A offset by -1 or Relative to Prompt Period offset -1 but none of them is working.
    Kinldy help me out!!
    Regards
    --

    Hi
It sounds as though you are on the right track. I've not tried using the 'Relative' function with either prompts or the 'Same As' function. I know that it works with 'Current POV' function in the way that you describe and have used this extensively.
Make sure that you are selecting a relevant member range for the relative function (this tends to be Lev0, Dimension) as see how you get on.
Personally, I much prefer using the POV to prompts as there are fewer clicks to get to your report and it is easier should you need to automate your reporting.
If I can help further let me know.
    Regards

  • How to use POV values from one worksheet in functions?

I have a Smart View free-form Excel report based on an Essbase cube with 13 dimensions.
Am using 1 dimension in columns, 3 in rows, 5 as page dimensions, and 4 in the POV. The member values in the rows, columns, and page dimensions are "fixed" in the layout of the free-form report.
The 4 four dimensions in the POV need to have changeable member values.
This layout works fine on the worksheet where it is built, where there are over 20 columns and 150 rows.
However, within that large grid (20 columns x 150 rows), there are about 60 individual cells where I need to use a different value (not the one that would be retrieved based on the row/column dimensions for that cell in the grid).
I think that I can use functions to obtain the values for these 60 cells, but cannot figure out how to update the formulas/functions based on the values for the 4 dimensions in the POV that are changeable -- it seems as if my functions are "fixed." (In my functions, I am listing all 13 dimensions as: Dimension#Member.)
I read in the user guide that I could not list all 13 dimensions and the default for any unspecified dimensions would be the value in POV Manager. But as far as I understand it, POV Manager does not have the same values I see in the POV menu/toolbar on screen where member values are selected.
Any help would be appreciated -- am a new Smart View user. Thanks.

  • SmartView 11.1.2.103 POV usage

Hello, i just installed the new release and now i have the issue that when i'm starting an ad-hoc-analysis i don't see the POV any more (Excel 2003). The dimensions are placed in row 1. This is ok and i can activate the POV via the menu. But i was exptecting that SmartView next time remembers this settings when i start a new ad-hoc-analysis. this is not the case. In addition when i switch to the POV the first row disappears. When i display the first row again i see all dimensions from the POV still in it? Is this a bug? Because i want to start analysis with the POV and i don't want the row 1 to disappear. Thanks for hints and help!

This is by design. There was strong customer feedback asking for the ability to show the POV in the first row and not have the POV toolbar on. This feedback came from longtime Essbase customers and partners. If you click the POV button this row gets hidden and you can use the toolbar just like you did in the past in Smart View (no loss of functionality). For Essbase the default is to show the POV on the sheet.
We have continued improvements planned but here are some of the key point that drove this change:
1 - Printing the POV - Having the POV on the sheet gives the user the ability to format and print using native Excel functionality.
2 - Flexible Freeform - With the POV on the sheet the user can easily change their POV or the grid orientation by typing or using native Excel formulas, list features, or VBA.
3 - Ability to copy grids from one sheet to another with no loss of the POV. Simply copy and paste.
    Hope that clarifies things.

  • Display Currency Value of User POV for Entity & Value in Text Box (Header)

I am looking for a function in Financial Reporting Studio that operates the same as the HsCurrency function in Smart View. This would allow batch reports displaying the currency value of the User POV for Entity based on the User POV for Value. Right now I have to have Member Lists for separate reports and different currencies as I am only able to display the Value dimension in the heading of a given report. Users will not be certain of the currency if the Value dimension is <Entity Curr Total>.
I tried the HFMCurrency text function, however the entity is not defined in a Row / Column / Page reference as the entity is determined by the User's Point of View.
Is there a way to display the currency value of a User's Point of View for Entity based on the User's Point of View for Value?
Reference from Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office, Fusion Edition, User's Guide:
    HsCurrency
Data sources: Financial Management, Hyperion Enterprise
HsCurrency retrieves the currency value of the specified dimension member. Entity and Value are the only valid members for the HsCurrency function.
    Syntax
    HsCurrency (“Connection,Entity;Value”)
    Example
In this example, HsCurrency retrieves the entity currency where the currency for the East Sales entity is USD, and the currency for the UKSales entity is GBR. The EastSales entity displays USD, and UKSales displays GBR.
    HsCurrency(“Comma”,”Entity#EastRegion.EastSales;Value#<Entity Currency>.”)
    HsCurrency(“Comma”,”Entity#EastRegion.UKSales;Value#<Entity Currency>.”)

    Hi,
the easiest way to check it is to redirect your SQL query to text file and then execute in a SQL tool.
You should write the value of strSQL (which actually seems to have missing the SELECT clause)
In any case, your SQL statement seems to be incomplete:
    strSQL = strSQL & "From ODI_WORK_MARS.dbo.TMP_HFM_DATA_EXTRACT_TIN1 "
    strSQL = sWhere & " And YearID =  '" & strSelectYear & "'  And PeriodID = '" & strSelectPer & "'"
    - You have not initialized strSQL with SELECT clause (maybe sSelect?)
    - You have not initialized sWhere with WHERE clause
In addition to this, your source year is in FYYY format while you are taking year from POV as YYYY.
