It has been very widely reported that Rosetta support was being dropped. Adobe CS4 and CS5 work fine and I think I have seen reports of CS3 working as well. Your programs that are not working are well out of date and if they are that imortant to you then revert to Snow Leopard with your SL Time Machine backup.

And to the other poster, I haven't seen anybody use Real Player for so long, I'd forgotten about it. A much outdated and unsupported program that was superseeded years ago by many superior audio/visual programs.
Good Luck

I get a "power PC application not supported" when I try to open migrated files from my old mac to a new one, Any suggestions?

If you still have any legacy PowerPC software that you were using with your old Mac, it will no longer operate under OS X 10.7 LIon or OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.
OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard was the last OS X version to support and run legacy PowerPC Mac software under the PowerPC emulator software Rosetta.
Rosetta is no longer a part of newer versions of OS X.
So, if you have any old applications that you still use, you will need to upgrade these to new Intel CPU compatible application versions.

Drag the newer iTunes icon from the Applications folder to the Dock and remove (control key / Options) the older version.

  • Power PC applications not supported by Mountain Lion OS?

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion OS and my existing Microsoft Office 2004 applications on my MacPro are no longer supported.  Would more recent versions of Microsoft Office be supported by ML OS or not?

Mountain Lion supports Microsoft Office 2008 and 2011.

  • Why is the Power Pc application Not supported on Maverick?

The MS product is not supported on Maverick Why?

Here is the summary I often post to answer your question:
Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta.  Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion).  While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 7 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion and now the "free" Mavericks.

  • TS3274 ipad connecting to laptop----not charging? to power----charging is not supported with this accessory.

anyone assist me. it was ok every time .now the charging very slow . one hour charge 1%. it is 1st generation. battery life running out?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Lion WARNING Power PC apps not supported :-(

    Hi all,
I just wanted to warn everyone that if you install Lion you will nolonger be able to use PowerPC programs!
If I had known this I would never have installed it. I have seen no warning of this anywhere.
Hopefully Apple will sort this out..

Yup, it's been discussed a lot. Discussed in a bunch of forums us techie guys love to read. So everyone who knows are those that should know. ..Oh wait! Hmmm, what of the average user? Those who dont CARE to read tech forums like we do?
I understand our points that it is well documented in the forums and in some tech specific outlets, but the average user doesn't read these. Designers, movie editors, the flower shop owner don't care because they only use a Mac as a tool to run their business. Some have invested countless hours developing on those legacy applications/programs. Some people don't find easy just dumping their old application with perhaps thousands of files they have developed through the years.
Many have a Mac simply because they find it easier than using the complicated and ever changing Windows. Not that they are loyal to the Apple brand, it is simply because that "thing" runs my favorite application better than Windows or that "thing" runs the application that Windows doesn't. Many don't have the budget to buy whatever is out there that replaces their legacy program, they don't have the time to convert or the know how to relearn something different and apply it to their business.
On the other hand, I also understand that the company that developed the application would provide an upgrade for Lion compatibility. That is not true on all the cases. For example, one of my customers (and no I don't provide PC consulting only IBM Systems) uses Corel draw, he has hundreds and hundreds of files and now they don't work and Corel is no longer supporting CorelDraw for Mac nor will they provide a fix. Second example, I have a friend that uses EffectsLab Pro. FXHome will not rewrite their application because they say and I quote "sales are not good on the Apple platform to put resources (programmers) on it and they will concentrate on their Windows customers". -dead end.
Even though WE KNEW Lion was not going to support PowerPC, the average user did not. Actually, that information should be clearly specified in the product info when buying Lion. It's not explicitly expressed, anywhere in there. And I'm talking about a CLEAR statement like "PowerPC applications are NOT supported in Lion" or "Some of your applications will NOT be compatible with Lion" with a link to a page with Applications found so far during the developer and UAT period. All it says is: "Some features require apps developed to work with Lion". From and average user's perspective it says nothing. It says "some features", not that the whole application will not run.
I dislike Windows with all my heart, I honestly do. I work with IBM Systems and lots of client side apps run on Windows. But one thing I still find interesting... some of the IBM shops I support still have crazy old DOS programs running on the new Windows Server...

  • SQL Server Reporting Services SharePoint Integrated mode - Power View is not supported

    Hi there,
    My environment is the following:
    SharePoint Server 2013
SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enterprise edition
I am getting the following message when trying to open BISM item with PowerView icon:
"The feature: "Power View" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services."
My problem is that the first time I installed SQL Server Reporting Services SharePoint integrated, I used the SQL Server 2012 Standard edition ISO. But then I learned that Power View is only available with Enterprise and BI editions. So I uninstalled Reporting
Services Add-in from Control Panel, Reporting Services from the installation media and deleted the three Reporting DBs in the SharePoint DB server.
Then I used SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enterprise media to install again Reporting Services but not sure why I am still getting the message:
"The feature: "Power View" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services."
Anyone can advice me what could be the problem? Maybe I have not complete deleted  the previous SQL Server Reporting Service Share Point integrated mode from the previous installation? What would be the proper way to uninstall Reporting Services?
    Any help will be welcome.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Joss

    Hi  Joss,
I am in the same situation,
SQL Server was installed in the standard mode because of that the powerview option is not working.
I have changed teh edition using maintenance --> upgrade edition. the sql server components like DB engine, SSAS and integration services are now showing in enterprise edition. The reporting services are installed from the application end still showing
as the reporting services are standard.
we reinstalled the reporting services but still persists the issue.
suggest me is there any work around to fix the issue other than reinstalled the whole SQL Server.
    Thanks
    Ramu

  • Why does Corel Suite 10 does not work with Lion OS?

Why does Corel Suite 10 does not work with Lion OS?

Either it's incompatible or it's a PPC-only application. PPC applications are no longer supported in Lion because there is no longer a Rosetta emulator. Contact Corel for support.

  • Microsoft Office will not work with Lion!

Have just installed Lion, now I can not use microsoft office (Word,XL,PPS), message says "POWERPC applications no longer supported" Any help appreciated.

Sounds like you are using Office 2004 or earlier and if so, as the error message provide indicates, PowerPC applications are no longer supported with Lion, and Office 2004 was witten for Macs with a PowerPC processor. The reason PowerPC applications worked on Macs with Intel processors prior to Lion was due to what is called Rosetta, which is no longer supported with Lion.
I believe Office 2008 or whatever the next version was after 2004 and Office 2011 is supported since these are witten for Macs with an Intel processor with OS X.

  • My new iMac is not shipping with Lion installed. Will I be able to do a Migration from my PC to my iMac without installing Lion first?

My new iMac is not shipping with Lion installed. Will I be able to do a Migration from my PC to my new iMac? I only want to transfer photos and my music, currently on my PC (and on my iPod Touch & iPad).
Can anyone give me a list of steps to follow or let me know if Migration Assistant is available prior to Lion for PC to Mac?
Thank you so so so much!
    -SweetDee

    SweetDee,
I'd be VERY surprised if your machine was not shipping with Lion installed. However even if it doesn't when you initally install Lion it will launch into Setup Assistant, if you follow the prompts it will ask if you are migrating from another machine. You can use Pondini's Lion Setup Assistant tips for help, look for the section(s) on MS Windows migration. Also I would strongly recommend bookmarking and studying the following sites:

  • HELP!!! "Charging is not supported with this accessory" suddenly happening CONSTANTLY with iphone 4

Suddenly without warning my IPhone 4 has been giving me a "charging is not supported with this accessory error" every time I plug it into ANY charging device.  That means my car charger, USB to the PC... USB to a macbook pro... Directly to the wall with the included charger, etc.  It doesn't matter.  I guess I'm past the 1 year warranty so Apple is not any help.  Essentially I'm supposed to accept that my $200 (with a contract) phone has a 1 year life span and that I should be completely fine with it becoming useless out of nowhere.  Here's some facts.
#1 - It has nothing to do with 3rd party accessories.  One day it was working... one day it wasn't.
#2 - I cleaned lint out of the charging port on the phone.  That was the first thing I tried. I used compressed air to blow it out, I used a soft bristle tooth brush...  It's lint free.  It has nothing to do with lint.  I understand this is the most likely cause of the problem.
#3 - When I plug it into a PC or macbook via USB, I'm able to access the IPhone 4 like I ALWAYS have.  In other words, I can see pictures, I can back up the phone, I can restore the phone, I can transfer music, sync, etc.  So this would presumably rule out the idea that it's the dock connector, right?  Why would USB work, but the charging function will NOT work?
#4 - On that note, I was able to update the software to the latest version 5.1.1.  That was one of the first things I tried.  No dice.  I still get the "charging not supported with this accessory" error literally every time I plug it in with a yellow triangle icon... Seen here for example: http://tapatalk.com/mu/4c5f44af-af20-d86c.jpg .
#5 - So since it's not charging, the phone inevitably dies.  Here's the weird part... if I leave it plugged into the wall/pc/mac/car when it's dead... eventually it will charge enough to turn back on.  But once it's back on... that **** error will pop back up, it will stop charging... and inevitably die again.  So then... that would suggest that it actually IS capable of taking a charge... it's just that something in the software is preventing it from charging when the software is active, no?  Am I off base here?
#6 - So I decided I'd take it to the genius bar to have them look at it.  Right before I did that, I got the brilliant idea to try using an alcohol swab on the dock connector just to make sure it was super duper extra clean.  Oddly enough, it suddenly started working without the error.  It was working on every charger I tried.  Wow.  I thought I had fixed it.  A day later it started happening again, though.  Bizarre.  I've tried the alcohol swab thing again and it didn't make a difference... maybe it was just a fluke.... the one day I take it to the Apple genius bar and it works.  Go figure, right?
#7 - The only helpful thing the tech at the Apple Genius Bar was able to tell me was that the phone did NOT have any kind of water damage.  That rules that out.  No water damage in the charging dock OR the headphone jack.  So there's that.
#8 - Since it's no longer under warranty... I took it upon myself to buy a replacement battery via Amazon.com and installed it myself.  Didn't make a difference... still the same error.
What, if anything, can I try?  Could it really be the dock connector?  Should I try replacing the dock connector?  Is there any software-related thing I can try?  Has this happened to anyone else?   Apple has essentially told me it's my problem.  From my perspective... any product that randomly stops working a little over a year is a faulty product.  I'm not pleased at all.

Tried at least 6 different cables.  It isn't the cable.  All of them worked one day... then stopped working the next day.  My girlfriend has an identical Iphone 4 and all of the cables still work for her.
Interesting point on the data and power using different pins.  So your suggestion would be to replace the dock connector?  Found this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iPhone-dock-connector-cable/dp/B003UGVOO2/ref=sr_1_1 ?ie=UTF8&qid=1338277549&sr=8-1 ... and found a tutorial online:  http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-iPhone-4-Dock-Connector/3147/1#.T8SG_sXWu -o  ... Sounds like that might be my best bet here.
It's just odd to me that the phone gives me that error and refuses to charge... then inevitably dies.  But once the phone is dead, it starts charging enough to actually turn back on.  Isn't that slightly odd?
