Power Problems- Where's the "Book" in my Powerbook?

I recently purchased a PowerBook 180c, and started it up. It couldn't find any System Software, so I placed in the software installation disks that came with it. When I tried to install, it couldn't find the hard drive! I have contacted the person I bought it from, but I would like to know. How can I find out for sure if a hard disk is installed on my PowerBook? There doesn't seem to be any way to open it, and the included manual was no help at all. Any answers will be appreciated. The person from whom I purchased the Powerbook from said he used to bring it to work with him, so I would think it would have a hard disk inside. Please post any ideas on how to fix this problem

Please note that a plain System 7.1 is not sufficient to start the PowerBook 180c. This computer requires an additional system enabler (which will be there already if the system floppies are specifically for said model).
Before you try anything else, you may want to test a PRAM reset.
A hard disk not appearing on the Desktop may be linked to a bad hard disk drive driver. If you have access to a Disk Tools floppy for the PB 180c, or if you use the SCSI Disk Mode variant suggested by Denis, you could check whether Disk First Aid is able to detect the hard disk (if so, verify/repair). Then, as Denis also indicated, you could try Apple HD SC Setup or Drive Setup (look for the button or menu command used to update the driver). Alternatively, you could reformat (initialise) the hard disk (this will erase the information on the disk).
If necessary, a startup floppy (the Network Access Disk 7.5 here) can be downloaded from Apple. The NAD 7.5 does not contain any utilities, but can be modified to hold e.g. Drive Setup 1.7.3 (here).

Where is the books tab on iTunes?

I have a new MacBook air and I am trying to take the books from my hard drive and load them to itunes so that I can sync them to my ipad.
I have been struggling with this for days. All the books are Kindle, and I have the Kindle app. This is worse than SAP.

Iphoto I have problem to print the book

EReader - where are the books and is this the original 'reader'?

If I sound confused, it's because I am. First, I have a Sony Clie NX70V, but this confusion isn't really related to that. Sony says to do whatever I feel like with ereaders, and the fact the people refer to having been given 'ereader' as a TXT and PDF reader, on some of their Clies seems irrelevant. Mine did not come with 'ereader'. I downloaded software with that name both to my XP desktop and to my Clie, without a hitch. (In fact, I want to say that the whole Palm experience has been a complete pleasure.) But it seems that, like Fictionwise, of which it is a branch, Ereader.com is purchase only, more or less, and the software itself does not allow you to just browse for a directory of txt books and open them. (Even Mobireader allows that, though it's a bit hidden.) It says no books are installed, on the Clie, and that's it.
So, is there some OTHER software named "ereader" out there that was originally put on Palms and Clies? If not, can someone point me towards it?Orjustexplain?Thankyou!

Where have the books-pdfs gone

before iBooks for mac, books and pdfs were easy to maintain and locate and transferred via iTunes. Now, after moving these to iBooks, I cannot locate them anymore on my hard drive, though they are still in iBooks...? Where are they???

Where is the book mark list icon with the star

The bookmark list with a star that normally appears on the right side does not show up. Where is it

Note that the screenshot shows that you have the Menu bar visible.<br />
The Bookmarks Menu button will only stay visible when you hide the Menu bar as you can access the bookmarks via the Bookmarks menu in that case.

Safari 3 preferences window problem: where did the other tabs go?

i'm running an up-to-date leopard mac with the latest version of safari. however, since installing leopard, safari 3 has had NO PREFERENES PANES besides general.

the preferences were alive and well on a guest user account; I copied that plist file into my user account and put it in the prefs folder, and it works fine now.

Wallstreet Power Problem

I recently acquired a Macintosh Powerbook G3 Wallstreet in pristine condition. I have heard of a documented problem where if the AC Adapter and Battery are removed, along with other combinations of removing/restoring power, the system will not boot solely on battery power, even though the battery is fully charged. Once I reinsert the adapter, the sleep light lights up and the fan kicks in full speed before shutting down. Then the system operates normally. No one seems to have the definite solution so I turn here.
My system is a Wallstreet II, 233MHz, 14.1in screen, OS 9.2.2. A little more about me since I am new here, I also own a G3 Pismo, 500MHz, 640MB RAM, OS X 10.4.7

Xserve Power Problem

i have an xserve g5 single 2.0ghz. it is having a new weird power problem where it restarts after about 2 hours. i am almost positive that it isnt the power source (the wall) because i have tried different plugs and still the same problem. although it could be because it has never done this a couple of months ago when it was in a different part of the room. i do not leave it on 24/7, it is only on for max 3 hours a day. it also really only restarts when i do video editing and use it as a scratch disk. i need to know if its the power supply or my wall plugs or the power cord

Your two best tools here are monitoring and logging.
Server Monitor will report way more than you want to know about the internal hardware of your Xserve. Run it on another machine (so you can read the log after the Xserve shuts down) and it will monitor temperature, memory, voltage etc and any hardware anomalies should register here first.
Open Console and check out the log right before the shutdown for any messages - short of yanking the cord out of the wall just about any strangeness should be registered in log messages from one source or another. If you computer is deciding to shutdown because of anything it detects it will definitely be in there.
If you can find no apparent cause the only way to rule out the electricity is to put a UPS between the computer and wall and see if the behavior changes.

Hi, I'm using ORDSYS.ORDDoc as column type of my upload file colum, because is the only way to do upload with UIX without programming. All is Ok with this type of colum (I wish to do the same with blobs), but I have a problem: where is the name of the file? I need to get the name, I read about one attribute for this, somebody know about it?

but I made all automatic with UIX, I need that the link when I listing this colum, don't say a fixed name, I want that this link save the file with the original file name. 2 things, maybe when the file was saved, the info about the original name not was saved too, or the method that write the link, don't use this name, only a fixed name.

New to PE 12. Where is the "Browse" feature?

I had to get a new computer to replace my XP unit before MIcrosoft support ended and this meant an upgrade to PE 12. Prior to this upgrade I was using PE 2.0 (What can I say, PE 2.0 was great software and it worked flawlessly for many years).
Problem: Where is the "Browse" feature on PE 12? I don't want to "Import" photos into collections, I just want to manipulate, move, and edit my photos straight from my computer's File Manager like I did on PE 2.0. I use a version of Photoshop CS for work and it offers "Adobe Bridge" that offers this functionality. Is there a function like this on PE 12?

PSE12 comes with Organizer, not a browser. However you don’t need to use Organizer. Simply continue with Bridge and right click on thumbnails and choose:
Open With >> Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor 12.0
