PowerBook 800 Audio Issue

Hello. I have a PowerBook 800 DVI. I have owned this computer for several years and have recently noticed that when I press on the bottom case or slightly move the PB the audio usually goes out completely, input and output. However, it does not hinder performance at all. Sometimes, it will make a terrible high pitched sound as well. I have changed MIDI settings and reset pram, PMU, nvram, etc. I tried the HD in a PowerBook 500 and had no issue. I also tried using the speaker connection from the 500 with no avail. I'm assuming it's the logic board. Does anyone have input in this? Thanks.

Hi m,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It's obvious this is hardware related, and it's not the HD. Go to ifixit.com and look at the user guide to identify the sound board on your machine. Then open up the bottom panel on your PB and look to see if the panel itself is bent in the area where you press to make the sound. If so, unbend it and don't press on that spot any more. You may also wish to lay a thin piece of insulating material between the bottom cover and the logic board in that area.
If that doesn't do it, with the bottom cover still removed, I would boot the PB and, with a non-conducive instrument (plastic, wood, not metal) carefully and gently poke the area where you notice the issue. If you can ID where two hardware components are flexing to touch each other and causing the issue, you may want to try insulating that point if it is practical (mylar is a good material if you have it available).
If this seems too risky and/or too much work for this issue and you can simply live with the issue, then that may be a good plan for you. Good luck.

  • HP Slate 21 audio issue after KitKat update and reset

I have upgraded my HP Slate 21 from JB to KK. Now the sound quality is very bad!
I came directly from xxx.11 kernel and made factory reset but didn't get a good result. Please how can I fix this tremendous issue?

    Hey @PauloTxR ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand you're experiencing issues with sound quality on your Slate 21 PC.
Please review the following thread: HP Slate 21 Kit Kat OTA Update Fix for Audio Quality and LAN Connectivity.
This fix will resolve audio issues of a software nature resulting in the KitKat update. If your issue persists after applying the specific update mentioned in this thread and have done a factory reset, the issue is likely hardware related and not the result of the KitKat update.
If you have done the above and continue to have problems please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the following link to get the support number for your region: Phone Assist Worldwide.

  • More Audio issues...

Along with the sounds / tones truncating / cutting off, I was listening to some mp3's today and the sound was constantly cutting in and out of stereo mode.  Left ear worked most of the time, right ear worked maybe 1/4th of the time.  Whatever happened to the sound coding in the latest update, it needs to be fixed.

I have searched in vain for an answer to this
    problem. I have a 15" Powerbook Aluminum, 1.5 Ghz G4
w/ 1.25G RAM and 10 GB available on the harddrive.
I am working with iMovie 6 with all my movie files on
a LaCie external drive connected using a FW800
connection. 195GB capacity, with about 20GB being
    used up with iMovie files.
Here's my issue. When I import video alone into a
project, we have joy. When I try to add audio clips
(either AIFF or MP3), the playback slows to a crawl,
the video is severely stuttery and the audio is
distorted and plays at about half speed (like playing
    a 33rpm LP at 16rpm).
If I delete the video and import the audio clips,
    same issue w/slowness and distortion.
If I import the audioc clips singly, they play and
sync well with the video to a point, but there's a
threshhold at which the playback begins to degrade
    and the audio issues return.
Very frustrating. Who can point me to some likely
culprits? Of, and this began happening in iMovie 5. I
was hoping iMovie 6 would solve. no joy.

OK - here's an update. I dumped my caches, fixed permissions, made changes to QT settings and reset the MIDI settings and the result? The audio is now running fine BUT the video is now not running (or at least ex-treme-ly sl-ooooooow-ly).
Any thoughts folks? I'd be eager to hear your input!

  • Powerbook (digital audio) and 1/8" jack NOT getting along

ok see if you can help me troubleshoot this.
i bought two of these cables:
    <http://www.cablesforless.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2779>
"Our Custom Made 3.5mm Male to 2-Male 1/4 inch phono plugs audio cables are perfect for connecting your speakers and microphones. These cables feature Belden's 1800B digital XLR cable and Steren® precision machined connectors. To ensure maximum signal integrity and protection from RF and electromagnetic interference the cable also features a Beldfoil® shield and fully shielded connectors. Professional termination using high grade solder ensures optimal signal transmission. Designed for optimal sound quality, Belden's performance speaks for itself. Compare Belden's specifications (below) with those of other digital XLR cables and see for yourself how Belden cable is unmatched. Belden Brilliance® teamed with Steren Connectors brings audio to life!"
sounds good, right? they both exhibit the following symptoms.
i'm using it in the headphone jack of my powerbook g4 15" and going out to a little mixer so i can hear system audio, itunes, etc. through my system. this longer cable is replacing a monster cable of the same kind (but shorter).
i'm getting absolutely HORRIBLE buzz when i plug it into the headphone port. if i jiggle it a bit i can get it to behave but only if it sits just right.
on a crt imac and an older titanium powerbook G4 the issue is much better. i still hear a line hum. i wouldn't want to record like this, but it's not a nightmare.
on an ipod plugged into the power adapter it works beautifully. however, i CAN get it to buzz horribly if i jiggle the plug as i insert/remove it.
eyeballing it with the monster cable tip, it looks exactly the same.
so on one hand, the monster cable works great in all uses.
the cablesforless cable works terribly on the powerbook but nowhere else.
now here's a clue: the powerbook G4 has combination analog/digital input and analog/digital output jacks. i haven't been able to repeat it reliably, but the cablesforless cable seems to be able to trigger the digital interface part, as evidenced by a red light shooting out of the port.
unplugging the powerbook totally removes the buzz.
i get the buzz when this cable is in EITHER the input or output jack.
tried a different power supply in a different jack in the same room... same results both ports (slightly different tone to the buzz)
if i remove the little mixer and plug the 1/4" cable ends into two inputs on a practice amp, i get the same issue.
finally, i got another digital audio powerbook g4 15" and the connection seems to be slightly more reliable, but still problematic.

For starters, EPUB is a profile of XHTML, not HTML5. Further, audio and video support are part of the recently-approved EPUB3, which the release notes for ADE 1.8 explicitly say is not yet fully supported. Specifically, <epub:trigger> will allow you to use audio and video: http://idpf.org/epub/30/spec/epub30-contentdocs.html#sec-xhtml-epub-trigger
Do these EPUB files that you're not seeing in ADE pass validation? http://validator.idpf.org/
Basically, it sounds like you're trying to do things that ADE isn't supposed to support yet, and in a way it is unlikely to ever support (since ADE is known to be pretty conformant to the EPUB standards, it's very likely it will support the EPUB3 version of doing things rather than the hackery I've seen for Apple's reader).

  • Audio issues - MANY

I have a Satellite L745D-S4220RD Laptop, which I bought in September.
Sound - is there NO control on the keyboard for this anywhere?  Actually it really doesn't matter since the sound that's there is barely audible.  If I stick my head down next to the speakers I can tell there's something coming out of it.  Volume - and it's turned all the way up - is mostly non-existant.
I use Adobe Audition.  I've used it on various versions of IE from 98SE to my new W7 machine.  I know it works on W7 since I've installed it in other people's PCs at work as well.  However, it seems that for me to record into Adobe Audition - I can't unless I use the internal mic.  I tried to record a County Council meeting from their webstream - got nothing.  Tried to record anything from winamp - got nothing.
Played with the settings and discovered something to boost the audio - which makes things louder, but to try to record with anything - now I'm getting errors, which are reminiscent of soundcard issues I had back in the old W98SE days if I tried to use anything but a mic or Real Player to record from into Audition.  It couldn't handle Winamp either - course that was nearly 10 years ago and audio has advanced in nearly every PC I've had but this one.
Do you mean to tell me that in this day and buying a new laptop in 2011 the soundcard is this crappy?
Existing audio that I try to play is herky jerky and goes in & out and likewise sounds just as crappy.
I'm in radio - and planned on using this for work when I'm in the field - what I have is completely useless.  I've used the laptop maybe 4 times - all of them trying to remedy the multitude of sound and audio issues that it has to mostly no avail.  I get one thing working - and it screws up other aspects of the audio and sound.
    Really regretting buying this laptop...........

You could try reinstalling the sound driver.

  • Bootcamp 3.1 and imac windows 7 64bit update not installing. Audio issues!

After many days of work getting the windows 7 working in bootcamp in my imac 27 (still with audio issues) I eagerly awaited the bootcamp update and imac updates.
    Neither will install.
Then I find that according to tech support as of now I have to reinstall Windows 7 again for the updates to work!
It took me 5 full 8 hours days to get all my scientific programs installed and working, now I find I can't even simply update the drivers I need. I don't want to reinstall.
    My only issues are audio.
    Here they are:
    1) The headset jack works fine on the Mac side, but in Windows 7, it causes the i7 intel CPU to go crazy. There is no CPU spike on the mac side.
    2) The headset jack in the imac is a trrs jack. The same as in the iphone, a tri-band jack that has three bands, two audio out channels and one mic in channel. A trrs headset works fine on the mac side with using the headset mic (as in iphone) rather than the built in mic. (this provides much better quality for sound recording). I don't want to use a usb mike.
In Windows 7 the mic part of the trrs headset does not work.
    3) In Windows 7 when going into audio devices recording, no audio mixer shows up, so when I do video or audio screen capture the only way to capture the sound is through the speakers and then back through the imac built in mic, rather than directly through the unit. (terrible sound quality) On the mac side the mixer element works fine.
Now I find from other imac users that even the new updates for the imac on windows 7 don't address and fix the audio issues. I am sure not going to go through 5 more days work only to find the audio issues still don't work.
I need these audio aspects to work properly though!
I have tried to get drivers for the cirrus logic audio card, but guess what there are none available and cirrus logic doesn't even recognize the board or offer drivers.
I have many windows programs I must have for my scientific research!I bought the top of the line Imac with all the bells and whistles because Apple promised that the machine could run Windows 7 in bootcamp natively!
It doesn't. This has been a nightmare of problems.
Is Apple going to step up to the plate and make good on their promises?
Does any one have a fix for any of the audio issues, or know how to install the new drivers without a complete reinstall of Windows?
Installing a few sound drivers and software should not require a complete reinstall. Getting the proper drivers for the headset jack audio in and audio out jack should be the most basic of fixes. Making the audio mixer work should be elementary.
If you are an Apple tech person or an Apple user that can help on these issues, please do!
    Thanks, Dr. Duke
    An American profesor in Europe.
PS I will post this under Imac windows 7 updates without a reinstall and under
    imac Sound issues.

On another thread a few people have responded saying that their imac has the same situation, the cpu is going crazy and the imac gets hot with headphones or speakers plugged in. But this doesn't happen in the mac side.
If you have an late 2009 imac and don't have these audio issues, let us hear from you. If you don't, lay out the problem here.
Here is my last two cents in to the inquiry.
Not only does the cpu run crazy but the imac 27 gets very, very hot. Since I unplugged the headphones, it runs much, much cooler.
Certainly, some Mac engineers should take care of this problem, it seems it is universal on all the imac 27's and from what I gather, the smaller screened cousins too.
Also, we certainly want a stereo mix option for audio in or out, or what is called "what you hear" or wave out. Imac is supposed to be much geared to multimedia apps.
Finally, the mic jack part of the trrs set up MUST be fixed! A lot of manufacturers are going to headset combo jacks as they call them, mic in and stereo out on the same tribanded plug. But, the old single jack for mic in and single jack for stereo out are two tiny parts of the hardware and super inexpensive for the manufacturer. Why in the **** to go to the "advanced" triplug if the **** thing doesn't work.
Mac has a great reputation. I hope they remedy these problems right away.
Anyone whose imac 27 or 24 whose headset plug is working correctly. Let us know! I don't think anyone's is, but I think that few people understand that their cpu is running so much faster with the plug in, plus few even understand the combo jack and the triband, or trrs audio jack! Out of 4 audio technicians I talked to, not one of them knew what a trrs jack was or that you even have a mic in jack as part of the headset jack!
When I told one senior that it worked on the Mac side, he didn't believe for a while, thought my sound might be recorded from the onboard mic, but I proved it to him by tapping iaudibly on my iphone mic headset and and it showing up in garage band clearly and listening to big difference in audio.
As for a usb audio adapter, I am in a neon light environment and find that those adapters are more sensitive to electrical interference. Besides I want to use the headset jack as it was meant to be used!
    Thats it.
Again, if anyone using an imac 27 and windows 7 64 or 32 doesnt have these problems, let us know! We are all anxious for a fix!
    Best to all!

  • SoftPhone over VPN audio issue

Having a "one-way" audio issue when IPC connects over VPN to any Main Office IP Phones (7960). Remote IPC (softphone) shows "0 Received" Packets, but the IP Phone shows them as being sent.
This does NOT happen if IPC contacts another IPC on a PC at Main Site, or any kind of phone at the other branch offices.
Have looked at all of the audio settings on the VPN IPC unit, they are correct.
    Any ideas?

Try to sniff the Ethernet traffic during call setup at the CallManager. When Callmanager sends Call Control messages to remote party, it could send wrong IP address or UDP port as an RTP parameters.
Another components could block the traffic are firewalls. How do you have your VPN tunnel built? Do you use Cisco VPN Client? What terminates your VPN traffic at the central location? PIX, VPN3000 or Router? Traffic may go one way without a change, and some protocol FixUp may be triggered for this traffic on the way back. If you have access to firewall logs, check if you have any traffic dropped.
    Good luck,

  • Logic 9.1.8 & Mainstage 2 - crashing frequently/audio issues

I have just uprgraded to this set up (though using the same sound card as I did on my Mac Book with Logic 8 & Snow Leopard prevously) - in order to avoid overloading which was happening on my previousl set up.. only to find that this new system seems very buggy - crashes frequently on Logic  (Sudden Motion Sensor error - have disabled that now) and Main Stage freezes. Then a wierd echoey sound can happen - whereby any audio is echoed back from DAW, in Logic AND Mainstage.
I have down loaded two plug-ins/VST's since starting to use this new set up - an XILS Lab L.E. verision and a Crystal synth. I've downloaded the up to date Duet drivers from Apogee. (I have an Duet 1.5 that I used with my old set).
Have looked at the Console system log to try and understand what might be happening - it is FULL of text on occasions when Logic crashes  - I am not tech savvy enough to unpick it though.
If anyone has any suggestions to help I would be grateful, thanks.
I do wonder if it is a Core audio issue though - given the echoiing that seems to occur...

My IPad 2 external speaker does not work and the original headphones have popping sound when used. This all occurred at the same time as my IPhone and IPod headphones only plays mono (and no, the "mono" option is not on) with the original headphones, as well as, other headphones tested.  How can there be audio issue for all these devices at the same time?
As you may have noted from the list of Apple devices I own, I believed in the Apple and the products it was producing; but it is hard to believe from my experience and the other voices within the Apple Community that we are all experiencing the same hardware issues. Especially since I recently, I upgraded to an IPhone 4g (no, my faith in IPhone 5 series is very little) and is experiencing the same audio problem as described above. So now, I am off to the Apple store again to be told that it’s a hardware problem on new IPhone. Really? Apple, what happen to the pride in the product you were producing?

Everyone does things a little differently. I love to "jam " along with iTunes ( or old Lp's) . Always have. That's where/how I've learned to play .
I'm sure leonieDF is giving a proper way to jam along on a keyboard with an iTune. He blows my mind all the time with what he knows. Nuff respects to him !
What I do is make a GB project I call "Jam With". I'll make several new tracks that are blank. Just has a few instruments named in the blank tracks. You can change those per song ...
Because I'm not concerned about changing the pitch / key.... of the iTune or the tempo ... I can simply play along with it.

  • IMovie audio issues. Fine in timeline, but when rendering to iTunes or Media Browser, audio from certain portions of movie files are heard in places where it shouldn't be !

iMovie 11  audio issues. Fine in timeline, but when rendering to iTunes or Media Browser, audio from certain portions of movie files are heard in places where it shouldn't be !
I have created a project where I have a montage of photos and video clips edited together with music under. Some audio portions of the video files are being muted in some areas and those portions are being heard in another part of the project. This is not for all video clips only certain ones.
The project plays fine in the timeline, but when I render the project thru iTunes or Media Browser, this is when the project goes corrupt.
I tried detaching the Audio from the video clips and this somewhat worked, but the original problem still exists with certain audio still being heard where it's not supposed to be.

    I have a fix - or rather, a workaround.
WARNING: It is lengthy, but still far better than starting a new project from scratch.
I had this same issue and none of my transitions/clips were at custom speeds, nor did I have anything else weird going on. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do within iMovie to fix this, at least there wasn't for me. iMovie is BY FAR the buggiest software I have ever used and if you haven't already spent hours slaving away on a project, you are so much better off using just about anything else to edit your video.
...But let's assume you have already spent many hours working on your project and you don't want to start all over. Well then, you have at least one option.
It's a pain in the neck, but it's infinitely better than restarting your project from scratch.
    This will require:
A software called Soundflower (which is free) and some kind of audio editing software (I use Logic, but really any should work).
1.) You're going to need to export your video with the messed up audio. Typically if you're audio is messing up, you're video is at least usually working just fine (at least it always does for me).
2.) You're going to need to open that video in your audio software and import only the audio. If your software doesn't give you this option, then you're going to need to record the audio from your video using the audio software and Soundflower. You can find tutorials on how to do this, but it's honestly pretty straightforward once you start playing around with you Mac's audio I/O settings. Remember to have your computer's volume all the way up when doing this.
3.) Watch/listen to your video and make notes of where the audio errors occur. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND writing down times too,  as they will be extremely helpful later.
4.) Now were going to rip some working audio from the iMovie project itself. Go back into your iMovie project and only play back audio while in the edit window for this step. Do NOT play your project back in full screen.
This part is key: if you try to play back your project from the beginning the audio will usually still mess up. So, what you're gonna have to do is go back on your edit window timeline right before these errors occur and play that specific clip back while recording this working audio with Soundflower and your audio software. Essentially we're only recording the parts of the audio where these errors occur, so try to do this in order if you can. Try to leave several seconds of audio in before the error - that way we can use it as reference when we construct our new audio track.
5.) Now in your audio software you should have your original error-filled audio track and the new clips that we just captured. This part can be painstaking if you're not familiar with audio editing softwares, but as you'll learn, it's really not that hard.
You're going to look at your original audio track and compare it to your new working audio clips. You should be able to notice where those new clips are supposed to go by looking at the identical (or close to identical) waveform shapes in your original audio track. The two should correspond with one another. If you don't understand what I mean right now, you will when you start playing around with the audio. This is why marking times is very important.
Take your new clips and split them up if you haven't already, that way you can drag them around and edit them separately from one another. Essentially your going to line these new clips up with original and then replace the original parts with new ones.
We need to get this as precise as possible, so start off by getting them as close as you can with your naked eye, and then use a zoom tool to zoom in as much as possible so that you can get them lined up PERFECTLY, or at least extremely close. In some softwares you can just drag these new clips on top of the old track, but most of the time you will need to actually cut out the old piece and replace it with the new one. In doing this, zoom in and make sure that you are NOT cutting out a bigger space than your new clip will fill - otherwise you will have small gaps in your audio.
VERY IMPORTANT: Also make sure that this new audio track starts at the EXACT SAME time as your original - otherwise your new audio will be out of sync.
I know this part can really suck if you're not used to audio editing, but at this point, there is little other choice.
6.) Once you are done with this, export your newly pieced together audio track.
7.) Now open iMovie and create a NEW project. Re-import the video that you exported earlier that has the messed up audio. This might take a while, so just be patient.
8.) Then right click the clip and select "Detach Audio". This will do just that - allowing you to edit the audio separately from the video. Now delete this audio.
9.) Now, import the new, perfect audio track that we just made and make sure that it starts at the start of the project. Make sure it's in sync and that everything works.
Now just export your new video with the working audio and you should be done. Since we have given iMovie the audio with no editing actually being done in iMovie, it does not have to generate its own audio now and you should have absolutely no errors now - unless there is some that you forgot to take out earlier.
    YOU'RE FINALLY DONE!!!
I know this entire process *****, but if you're that far into your project, there is little else that you can do. Now you've learned your lesson:
    DON'T USE IMOVIE EVER AGAIN.
    I hope this helped!

  • My iPhone 5 is suddenly having audio issues through the headphone jack.

So this is a strange situation, and I'll try to explain in depth so that someone might be able to suggest a solution. As reference, I have an iPhone 5 that I purchased in late-February. I've had every other model of iPhone except for the first iPhone, so I am pretty familiar with the device. I used to be on AT&T, and switched to Verizon when I upgraded to the iPhone 5.
Two days ago, I was on a six hour road-trip, and I'd been playing my music like normal through my car's auxillary cable. After stopping for lunch, I went to plug my music again, but once the music started to play, I realized that only the drums were playing at normal levels while the vocals were very, very soft. I switched through a few different songs, and realized that all the songs were being played at different levels; sometimes the backup vocals were normal levels while the instrumentation and lead vocals were quiet, or vice versa. I decided to plug my iPhone in to charge, and when I did this, the audio levels were all normal. However, the iPhone was NOT charging. I removed the charger, and the audio went back to being weak and distorted. I went back and forth at this for a bit, trying to figure out what was going on.
Since then and after some testing, I realize that my iPhone will now only charge anywhere EXCEPT in the car charger (I simply use my USB cable that came with my iPhone and plug it into the power adapter I have in the car). This morning, I tested the audio in my home speaker system, and I had the same audio issues. Only half the song's tracks would be at normal audio levels, while the other half would be at a very quiet, almost nonexistent level. I tried plugging my charger into the phone to see if that'd make a difference, but instead of the audio going back to normal like it does in the car, the music stopped and there was just crackling and very noisy distortion sounds.
I'm super confused and not sure what to do. This has never happened to me with any of my iPhones. I am updating my software right now, and am hoping that that may help somehow. Otherwise, I'm at a loss. Any suggestions as to what I should do would be greatly appreciated!

Do the new iMacs have digital audio out through the headphone jack?
    Yes.

  • STILL have MBP audio issues after Bootcamp 3.1

I have a mid-2009 MBP 13" with Snow Leopard, running 32-bit XP Professional with SP3. I just updated to Bootcamp 3.1 after dealing with low audio, robo-voice from the internal microphone, and spooky red light/trackpad nonsense for months. While 3.1 fixed the red light and the trackpad, my audio issues still remain; I get very poor volume on the Windows side and my voice is still distorted, slow and generally crappy when I use the built-in microphone in the microphone test. The mic doesn't work at all in Steam, which is the whole reason I want it. Was 3.1 supposed to fix these audio issues? It doesn't explicitly say so on the download page, but it seems like it's been quite effective for other people, so if it is supposed to fix the audio I suppose I'm going down to the Apple Store.
If 3.1 wasn't a magic bullet, can anyone suggest a fix? I'm pretty fed up by now with this issue. I tried reinstalling the drivers after extracting them from the BC 2.2 update (found that process on these forums), and it did nothing. The link to the New Jersey school's site (another suggestion from the forums) no longer works for whatever reason.
    Thanks!

Use Driver Sweeper and the tips on how to use and troubleshoot
    http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/
You may also want to use Windows Installer Cleanup as I mentioned.
    Also CCleaner can help.
MSCONFIG.exe can lead you to the services and startup items being loaded
Programs control panel of course to uninstall the program
Device Manager to rollback; or uninstall and manage device drivers
Apple installs a number of drivers, services, startupitems so you really have to get familiar with the OS and where/how to manage things.
Windows 7 supports RESTORE POINTS. Use 'em! and set one before just in case (any good installer or update should create a new one but good to have your own), and make sure there is 10-30GB of space for restore points.
System control panel advanced protection -> configure your boot volume settings

  • Audio Issues - Sound stops on youtube vid after a few seconds. Please Help?

What's been happening is weird audio issues, especially youtube  related though not only (other web video content has been messed up, but  mostly youtube). Right now I am using headphones (1/8" or 3.5mm)  through the back of the computer and when I turn on  the computer, at first I can hear sound from videos. When I open the  speaker icon mixer window in the bottom right, I see green bar moving  with the sound on the "speakers" mixer and "Adobe Flash Player" mixer  simultaneously.
Then after a few minutes or after having a few tabs open, all of a  sudden the audio stops. Oddly enough, usually the video keeps going even  thought the audio has stopped. I verified this wasn't a hardware issue  with my headphones by opening the Speaker Icon  Mixer window, and acutally was watching it at the moment the sound  stopped and saw the green bar disappear exactly when the sound stopped.
If I restart the computer, or firefox only sometimes (mostly need to  restart cpu though) then videos will play again with sound. Once the  sound stops however, if I open a new youtube video in another window, it  will sometimes cause an "An error occured.  Please try again later" crash.
I'm at a loss of what to do.
Running latest version of Firefox (26.0) and Adobe Flash (11,9,900,170  installed). Windows 7 64 bit system, Intel Core I7 Processor.
I have tried many things include "reset firefox", clear cache,  changing to an earlier version of Flash (11.3). Tried to update sound  cards. Even tried to restore computer to an earlier setting ( I only  went two days ago, could go farther back I suppose). When  I reverted back, the problem went away for a few hours but then came  right back.
I scanned pc with ESET online antivirus, no viruses, Malewarebytes  Pro, no issues. Cleaned with CC cleaner. Plenty of hard drive space  (using an SSD boot drive btw).
I am not very knowledable about plugins or "addons" or extenstions.  Nor do I know if it has anything do "Firefox Options -> applications"  (gives content type and then option...essentially a bunch of sound file  types and then which plugin plays it). I can  give my list of all this out if necessary but there are quite a few and  I dont know how to copy/paste that info so it would take. Even though  its gonna take forever to hand type these guys all out, I will give my  list of "plugins" that may be audio related:
    QuickTime Plugin 7.7.4 7.7.4.0
    RealDownloader Plugin 1.3.3.66
    RealNetworks (tm)
    RealDownloader Chrome Background Extensions Plug-in (32-bit) 1.3.3.66
    RealNetworks (tm)
    RealDownloader HTML5VideoShim Plug-in (32-bit)
    1.3.3.66 RealNetworks (tm)
    RealDownloader PepperFlashVideoShim Plug-in (32-bit) 1.3.3.66
    RealPlayer Download Plugin 16.0.3.51
    RealPlayer(tm) G2 LiveConnect-Enabled Plug-In (32-Bit) 16.0.3.51
    Shockwave Flash 11.9.900.170
Shockwave for Director 12.0.7.148 (for netscape plug-in)
Shockwave for Director 12.0.2.122 (for netscape plug-in)
    Silverlight Plug-In 5.1.20913.0
    VLC Web Plugin 2.1.0.0
When I open my device manager and look at "Sound video and game controllers" I see 4 options:
    1)AMD High Definition Audio Device
    2) Bluetooth Audio Device
    3) High Definition Audio Device
    4) Intel (R) Display Audio
I'm not sure what this means, if I have 4 sound cards or if they are conflicting somehow.
I tried to update drivers on each one. No change.  I've tried  "restarting firefox with addons disabled" and "check here to see if your  addons are up to date" (they were except VLC which I did update before  restoring to previous day and it didnt help).
None of the fixes work for me, same issues. Extremely frustrated!! Help?

I'm having a similar problem with flash audio. After a few minutes of watching a video or playing a game the audio cuts out but the video keeps working. The audio does not return until I refresh the page. The issue occurs regardless of which browser I'm using (have tired both Firefox and Chrome). Oddly enough, when the audio cuts out from whatever flash application is running, my entire system loses sound until I refresh the webpage or close the browser. For example, I was playing Minecraft with Chrome open in the background and suddenly the sound cut out from both. Once I closed the browser my audio came back. I realized that there was a graphic on the webpage that was flash based which likely triggered the issue.
I do not have any Real plugins.
Incidently I also have Intel (R) Display Audio listed in my device manager
Edit: I forgot to mention, this issue only seems to occure when I watch videos that have been uploaded recently. For some reason the audio does not cut out when I watch a video was uploaded a few months ago.

  • Mavericks 10.9.1 Upgrade = Audio issue (lost 5.1 through HDMI)

    Hello guys and gals,
I've Macbook pro 15" retina connected as follow
Macbook Pro -> Sony HT -> LG LED TV (55LA7400)
The connection is made via HDMI port. Everything was working fine, no issue when I was using previous OS. Apps such as XBMC, etc was able to output 5.1 fine.
I just upgraded to 10.9.1 and experience Audio issue.
With TV OFF: I was able to see the 5.1 Selection via Audio Midi Setup. Using the built in test feature, was able to check all 6 speakers fine.
However, as soon as I turn on the TV, Macbook screen flickers (as usual when ie tries to recognize the TV and enable Video out) I can only select 2CH via the setup.
This apparently, wasn't the issue prior to the upgrade.
    Please advise,
    Thanks

I should have said - I tried that earlier but I just get:
'This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.'
My 17 inch Macbook Pro is pretty old (2009) and I took it over from my son 3 years ago so I wasn't involved with the initial installation.
    Thanks.
