PPRO CC 2014 CRASHING, EXPORTING AND RENDERING ISSUES

So Im finally back on track and working well except for the sequence thumbnail regeneration issue.
Once I started rendering in Software vs OPENCL including projects already rendered in OPENCL I was able to EXPORT again,
Render without issues and a heck of allot less crashing.
I also had to go back to Pluraleyes 3.0 vs 3.5 because it was so unreliable.

  • What sequence setting would you use to edit 1280 x1080 DVCProHD (P2) and 1920 x 1080 AVCHD (Sony) in FCP. Experiencing Quality and rendering issues.

What sequence setting would you use to edit both 1280 x1080 DVCProHD (P2) and 1920 x 1080 AVCHD (Sony) in a single timeline in FCP. I'm experiencing quality and rendering issues.  I've tried numerous settings but can't seem to figure this one out.  Thanks for your assistance.

Although you can combine the avchd 1920x1080 material with prores 1920x1080 in the same timeline, you might land up saving time just converting everything to 1920x1080 prores 422.   You'd probably reduce the amount of rendering while you're working and exporting when you're done by a great deal.  This workflow will require much more drive space.

  • PPro CC 2014 Crashes and More Problems

Posted on Twitter and Adobe Help said to post our issues here....
Ever since we've updated to CC 2014 we have lots of issues on our systems:
    1. Routine crashes.
    2. System really lags, especailly after having PPro open for a few hours - btw, talking the entire computer slows down, along with PPro.
    3. PPro won't OPEN some previously saved projects (saved in CC 2014).  It tries to open them and then at 99% there the program crashes. This has been scary.
    4. When we shut PPro down it often won't shut down completely and has to be Forced Quit.
We've been very happy with CC, and so hopefully Adobe will update the software soon so they don't lose they're goodwill.
Btw, this is happening on three computers... a two-year old iMac, a six-month old iMac and a brand new Mac Pro.

  • Standard and Non-standard exports and queries issue

    Hi,
We have created a few STANDARD books with standard exports in them. The standard exports use standard queries.
The ISSUE is that in the Verifications/Filters tab, where we have put in a lot of queries - ONLY the STANDARD queries show up. We would like to have all the queries show up. I am the adminsitrator and still only the standard ones show up.
I am worried that if I "Save As" the export as a non-standard export, it does not allow me to uncheck the standard tick column and save it but I have to manually change the name of the export. Can we change this in anyway?
Is there a system preference where I can allow all the queries to show up in the verifications/filter tab at least for the admnistrators if not for all? Thanks
    - Ad

Thanks for your input but DRM does seem to be behaving what you said or may be I am still missing something here.
    I created a standard query.
    I have a standard export.
Now, in the verification/filter tab of my Standard export, I am able to see my standard queries.
    But,
I am unable to see the Non-Standard Queries.
    HOWEVER,
If I have a Non-Standard export --> I am able to ALL the queries. This makes it a lot more flexible in doing things.
My question is the WHY are my standard exports not able to reach the non-standard queries. What I wanted to do a twist in my export for analysis purposes for a particular use. If non-standard exports have access to Standard and Non-Standard queries --> it just makes more sense to always use a non-standard export and create non-standard queries.

  • FCPX constantly backing up and rendering issues.

FCPX makes an automatic backup of almost every single change I make. It's really slowing me down. Every clip I select and drop into the timeline is backed up and I have to wait for it to process or the program grinds to a halt. It's essentially backing up every few seconds as i work.
Also noticed that when i open a current project it re-renders the whole thing. And often sections of a project I'm in the middle of working on just suddenly start rendering again. I might make a change to a clip near the end and suddenly the first 30 clips start re-rendering.
Another rendering issue is when I have made a change to a part of a multicam clip, say a colour correction or added an effect etc. It won't render the change until I adjust the clip length and return it to normal. As in, stretch the clip out by +2 seconds then pull it back in -2 seconds, then the render will begin.
These problems are costing me a lot of time and money and would love to hear if anyone else has experienced similar and has solutions.

Suggest that you download TimeTracker to reveal exactly what is being backed up on each pass.
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
The application is not fancy, and it will probably take 5-10 minutes to load depending on how much data you have on the Time Capsule.
Once you identify the file that is causing the bloat, you can elect to exclude that file from backups if it is not needed, using Time Machine Options.
It might be a backup history for your browser or something similar if you do not clear the history on a regular basis.
Please post with your results to share with other users who may be experiencing a similar issue.

  • Premiere CC 2014 playback and rendering issues

Definitely having problems that I wasn't having just a couple of days ago.
Timeline, 4 minute music video mainly7 all on V1 and then V2 with just a few short shots overlayed using opacity/screen.  I use this technique a lot and always worked more than fine in Premiere CC.
So, I made some minor changes today.  Select in/out on entire project and hit render in/out.
First thing I notice is the progress bar keeps jumping back and forward; ie - 20.0% then 19.8% then 20.2% and so on (two steps forward one step back).
Then noticed...  I hit render and it says rendering 1 of 20 previews...  ie 500 frames.  Then it gradually changes... 1 of 21 previews 510 frames.. 1 of 22 previews 520 frames etc etc and etcetera... and basically never end... just hangs around 98.8% until I was waiting for over half an hour for something that would usually take seconds in the previous version.  I keep having to hit cancel on the render.
Then, I look at the render bar on the timeline.. all is green (zoomed in, no yellow anywhere).. hit play and it pauses for a split second here and there.  Completely randomly.  Also certain shots just completely freeze.
I didn't have any of these problems in the previous version of CC and at present it's not suitable for client playback.  Nowhere near it.
    Any updates?
    Thanks

I selected the entire project that was completely rendered and hit render and it did 0 of 2 frames 1 video preview.. then 4 frames 2 video previews up to about 50 previews.  Eventually looks like it has rendered.  Hit play and the video clips its pausing on are now completely green shots.  Not had this on PPro or CC before.  I have a Quadro 2000 and usually runs perfectly.  In fact there is not chance of it being my card.  It's definitely to do with the update.

  • Premiere exports and rendering too slow

I’m using Premier Pro CC on a 2012 MacPro (aluminum box) with 16gigs or RAM.
I have to say that being a long time Avid Media Composer editor I am very, very pleased with the UI and overall capability of Premiere. It’s loaded with tiny nuances that Avid should have incorporated a long time ago. I am in love with this software.
Or at least I was until I went to export my files. What a slog! I’m sorry but the exports are out to lunch. A six minute 1080p 23.976fps sequence with a few titles, a basic colour effect and two tracks of audio takes…. 3 hours?!?!?? What the heck? If I was rendering an equivalent sequence in the Avid I’d be done rendering any effects and exporting a source QT by the time I finished this sentence. And if I set that QT up to encode in Sorenson I’d have my MP4 done by the end of this email. And the Avid doesn’t need to use any external hardware to ramp things up. In addition, just typing this email while Media Encoder pushes through the output (even with Premiere closed) is causing my whole system to slow down to a point that I find my computer basically unusable for anything else. 16 gigs of RAM and 2x six core processors and it’s acting like it’s 1996 running OS7.
Now wait, I hear you say, you can do so much more in Premiere. Yes, I can. But the moment I drop, for example, an After Effect link in there…I can feel the system trying to race glaciers - and losing. What I don’t get is if I were to use the the equivalent clips in After Effects doing the equivalent type of effects the render would be way faster than Premiere --- and it’s the same company! And don’t get me started on Speedgrade. I’m better off doing an oil painting of each frame than using that Dynamic Link function. And teh dynamic links are what encouraged me to try all this in the first place.
Pre-rendering everything is not only awkward but appears to have no effect on the export time - or playback for that matter. In fact I find the rendering of effects rather confusing and horribly inaccurate - both in its estimate of time to go and the number of frames to process. And what is a 'video preview’ anyway -is that the number of clips? Effects?  Effects and clips? Grains of sand on a beach? And why does it’s number keep going up too? It just keeps climbing for no reason I can see. C’mon Premiere…it’s basic math- you count how many frames and then that’s the total number of frames. Why are you recalculating? And did you borrow your time estimate code from Windows 98’s progress bar? One thing it does tell you accurately is how much time you’ve been waiting. That’s handy (not). Oh and I sooooo love the fact that if I quit the rendering process it keeps NOTHING from what it did before. So i have two choices: quit this seemingly endless render to try something else only to find it didn’t help ... or stay put and watch my life drip away into nothingness. Right now, on a second sequence, it says "ETA - 13 seconds left" for, like the LAST 2 hours.
I can’t help but think Premiere is too caught up on render-free editing and it’s glorious Mercury Engine when they should be making it faster & easier to render effects for smoother playback and much faster exports. In my Media Composer I may not have as much robust real time function as I would like but it doesn't choke on the basics (title, colour crrection, dissolves) and the renders are so fast I don't care that I even have to render.
Maybe I’m doing something wrong but I’ll be damned if I know what. And no one else is talking. As I skip around the Google-sphere I’m amazed how many people are posing about speed issues (very common Google search result) and so many other editors are retorting “seems pretty normal to me”. No it ain’t. This is NOT normal. This is painfully slow and in no way reflects the current state of speed for import & exports in NLEs.
I’ve watched every tutorial I could find, picked over every preference, closed every other application, tried different media types, purged every bit of cache and even restarted with no discernible difference. At this stage I’d be thrilled to find out if I’m doing something wrong. But until then I’m afraid this software will not be a regular part of my tool set. This is very disappointing from Premiere given how everything else seems to work so well. Such a shame. This software could kick some serious butt otherwise.
Maybe Premiere will announce that they have a new render engine at NAB?…crossing fingers? Don’t think so.
    ><({(º>

    Thanks for the reply SAFEHARBOR11.
I agree, something isn't right. I've watched tutorials where the renders appear to happen in a "reasonable" amount of time and the numbers of frames and videos prviews never increases. So I don't know what is going on with me.
While I have researched into render/don't render workflow with Premiere I can say I tried both ways only out of desperation.
For my system, a MacPro from 2012, we got only one choice for a video card from Apple - ATI Radeon HD 5870. I tried to get a CUDA enabled card (3rd party) installed but despite tremendous research I could not find something that was authorized to work on my system. At the time I wanted the CUDA to accelerate by Sorenson encoding.
One 2011 post suggested  that my issue was related to corrupt media. They had suggested that I try and isolate the timeline down by testing one section at a time with exports until the exports went from fast to excruciatingly slow. As I was working on multiple sequences without common media between them I had reasoned that the software may not have liked my Sony F5 native media (although it plays it just fine). So I took the time to transcode all my footage and use that instead—  with absolutely no difference. Even if it did make a difference I’d be disappointed because working natively with my media in Premiere was a huge time saver, unlike the Avid which claims to work with native media but really it leaves the system and editing sow & unresponsive so I usually end up transcoding anyway.
My media encoder settings were the template h264 as a Youtube 720p, 23.976 file. Nothing remarkable there. (Although I did  try other settings to see if that affected anything - it didn’t).

  • Lightroom 5 Exporting and Plugin Issues

Hello Everyone ! I would like to express my gratitude in advance for any advise or solutions the adobe community might provide me with these issues.
I've been using Lightroom 4.3 for the last year with no issues. I decided it was time to try out Lightroom 5 and it's new features. So I installed a trial of 5.6 via creative cloud .  When I launched 5.6 it required me to update my catalog, which I did and didn't encounter any problems with the update.  The first problem I encountered occurred when I attempted to export an edited raw file. The export  progress bar stays at zero and never completes the export process, if it helps anyone , the files I am exporting to JPEG are Raw Nikon D600 files. If I attempt to do anything else while Lightroom is stuck in the export process , the program will become unresponsive and  I'm not even able to kill the process via windows task manager. My second problem is the Plugin manager , on Lightroom 4.3 I use the Smugmug upload plugin . On 5.6 the plugin manager crashes every time I attempt to setup the Smugmug plugin. I've tried other third party plugins and those cause Lightroom to crash as well so I don't believe it's just the Smugmug plugin. I've tried every possible solution I was able to find doing web searches but nothing has worked so far...
The following is a list of steps I took to try to resolve the issues.
-In the export screen I made sure that "Do nothing" was swtiched to "go to explorer" in post processing
    - uninstalled all plugins
    - Unistalled and reinstalled Lightroom 5.6
    -Uninstalled Lightroom  4.3 (perhaps a conflict ?)
-Created a new catalog and imported new files to that catalog
    -disabled firewall and antivirus
    - Tried various JPEG re-sized dimensions
    - Tried to export to various Drives ( local, and external drives)
-Ran Lightroom 5.6 as an administrator
    -Deleted Preference File
Hopefully everyone can see I've tried my best to find a solution but to no avail , it's quite frustrating since I really want to upgrade to 5.6 .  I hope someone can provide a solution or point me in the right direction ! Sorry if this post is too long!

I never had a problem with it in LR4. The example I gave was one of many options I tried. At the other end I asked it to produce smaller files (eg 1500pixels long edge) with a 1000k maximum and I could only get them to output at around 160k.
I have since realised that I neglected to mention that I was using LR/Mogrify2 plug in to add a text graphic to the images. I experimented with turning that option off and I was able to produce a 2500px long edge file at 996k. As soon as I turn that option on again the file ouptuts at 1600k (where I have specified at 1000k limit).
This was never a problem with LR4 so there is a conflict or a bug somewhere.
Is anyone else using a LR / Mogrify 2 plug in and experiencing unpredictable results? I have the option to use LR / Mogrify 2's version of ImageMagick checked.
    Message was edited by: Shipp
So I just did further testing. It seems that LR5 cannot control the maximum file size when working with Lr / Mogrify 2. If I ask the plug in to resize the image and control the maximum file size I can produce a file with long edge 2500pix, 1000k maximum size and the text graphic with no problem at all, as I used to be able to do with LR4. I will contact the plug in developer and see if they are aware of this.

  • Photoshop CC2014 in OSX Yosemite (Mac book pro retina 2014) crashes frequently and Merge to HDR does not work

My photoshop CC2014 on my Mac OSX Yosemite crashes all the time with random tasks. Now almost nothing works. Sometimes it stops working after doing random tasks like starting photoshop and i have to do a hard reset by putting the power off of my Mac pro retina (2014). After logging in again i got the message from Photoshop that  graphics problem occurred with a Problem report I will post here. I also cannot merge to HDR from lightroom to photoshop & also in Photoshop in the file menu > automate merge to HDR pro. It 8 of 10 times it stops working and I won't select one of the brackets. I have to force quit photoshop. I think these instability problems started after updating to Yosemite but become worser everyday. I also disabled the graphics driver, put it on basic and enabled/disabled open gl, sometimes photoshop disables it automaticly. My osx is up to date so I don't have to update my graphic driver because these updates or done within the OSX update pane. I cannot add the Problem report file in this topic, How can I do this???

Have you installed all the Photoshop updates and MacOS 10.10 updates?
Disabling GPU usage in Photoshop should help with the video driver bugs in MacOS 10.10, until Apple can solve all the driver issues (yes, Apple knows about them and is working on solutions).
What does the long, detailed crash log say?
Also, anything that freezes, shuts down, or reboots the machine is not an application error - but caused by an OS bug, a low level driver bug, or faulty hardware.  Applications simply cannot cause those symptoms on modern OSes.

  • Playback and Rendering issues when GPU acceleration is enabled

I'm using the new MacPro with dual AMD FirePro D300. When I enable GPU Acceleration (Open CL) I can no longer play through an entire sequence. It specifically has issues playing through any layered graphics or titles, but seems to play with those disabled. I have tried having "Composite In Linear Color" enabled and disabled, and neither seemed to make a difference. It's the same deal when rendering. If I have titles, and use GPU Acceleration it jumbles clips, cuts to black or static, all manner of weirdness. Is there something I'm missing?
An example of what playback looks like if I have titles and GPU Acceleration enabled.

This computer thing seems complicated enough that if your system works better with GPU accel off, that's you best performance. I understand they've been trying to sort out these sorts of issues but there's so many dang variables, and trying to build software that interlinks with other complicated software is something no other NLE or Grading program does. That throws even more kinks into the list.

  • Export and Import issue in Oracle 11g

    Hi All,
I have exported data using exp command in oracle 11g by keeping deferred_segment_creation FALSE.
Even then my zero records tables are not coming in export.
What could be the reason or what other thing i have to do to make it work.
    Thanks in advance
    Mohsin J

Tables that were created before you changed deferred_segment_creation to FALSE and do not have any rows would still be segment-less tables --- i.e. not exported.
You need to issue an "ALTER TABLE tablename MOVE" for each of such tables (after having set deferred_segment_creation to FALSE) to force a rebuild of these tables with segments before the export.
    Thus, the sequence is
    1. set deferred_segment_creation to FALSE
    2. identify all tables with 0 rows
    3. issue an ALTER TABLE tablename MOVE for each of such tables from step 2
    4. Re-run your export
alternatively use conventional export (exp) instead of datapump export.

  • Exporting and YouTube Issues

So frustrated. For 6 months I have been able to export my iMovie videos to YouTube, no problem. I have also been able to export my iMovie videos into QuickTime format so they can be viewed on PCs without having to import them into iDVD. Now all of a sudden i can do neither. What is going on...seriously?
Anyone have a fix for either of these issues?

What happens when you try to share to YouTube? Is there an error message?
If you are still experiencing failures you might want to try (as a test) creating a new YouTube account and exporting one of your projects to the new account. That would help narrow down whether the problem is with iMovie or with your older/existing YouTube account.

  • Cross Dissolves and Rendering Issues

I am having trouble with FCP 5. My cross dissolves don't work. When I put on in (to fade up from black), they don't do anything. This is not a huge deal because I can just use opacity key frames.
However, I am having another issue. I have three layers of video set up to make a sort of "grid effect" . I have three layers of video, on the left, middle, and right. They are cropped so they do not overlap each other.
When I play back the timeline in preview mode (without rendering) everything plays back fine, but at lower quality.
However, when I render my sequence, the middle box vanishes.
I am using Unlimited RT. I have tried setting the sequence in all three video processing options (RGB, YUV, and high precision YUV).
I have tried making a duplicate copy of my sequence, I have made a duplicate copy of my project as well.
I have trashed my preferences and have restarted my computer about 10 times.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Hey there Jim--thanks for the thought,
yeah, I'm famailiar w/ that mode of attack--
essentially, the images are scans of a childrens book made into a DVD---all of these images will be 'deep-etched' and 2.5d'd in AE then re-imported so for all intents and purposes, I'm just slamming together a rough, (pre-photoshop/AE) and just trying to get an approximate timing/flow of each image. So it's easier/faster for me to have 'snap' toggled and be able to slam clips/slugs next to each other as opposed to 'stacking' them, 'checkerboard' style, and approximating where to place them---
I guess if it's just a rough, it doesn't matter either way, to each his own.
I was just looking for a shortcut--but what a cool feature that would be eh? ..being able to lock keyframes to crossdisolves?
so, how are things in Milford??
    thanks for re:

  • After Effect cs4 export and render issue

When I tried to render or export a video, After Effect(CS4)
become no respond and close, after that, my computer shut down too!
    My computer:
    Althon 64X 4600+
    2GB DDR2 Ram
    ATI HD5870 (500mb video Ram)
    Windows 7 32 bit
Can anybody can slove this problem for me?

Mylenium asked very pertinent questions.  I'll make some educated guesses, which may or may not apply.
First thing: 2 GB may seem like a ton of memory to you, but in AE-Land, it's NOTHING.  You need to trick that machine of yours out with memory.  On a 32-bit system, that would mean bringing it up to 4 GB.
If you're trying to use multiprocessing, turn it off and leave it off.  On a 32-bit system, you'll never have enough memory to make multiprocessing work efficiently.
Trying to speed rendering by using Open GL acceleration?  Turn that off, too.
Since you're on a 32-bit system, the most recent version of AE you can run is Version 9.  Make sure it's fully updated.
But if you shot video on a DSLR, HDV Camera, XDCam or Flip Cam, you could still have problems.  Since you can't be running AE 10, which pretty much solved the problem of long-gop footage, here's why:
    Dave's Stock Answer #1:
If the footage you imported into AE is any  kind of the following -- footage in an HDV acquisition codec, MPEG1, MPEG2, AVCHD, mp4, mts, m2t, H.261 or H.264 -- you need to convert it to a different codec.
These kinds of footage use temporal, or interframe compression. They have keyframes at regular intervals, containing complete frame information.  However, the frames in between do NOT have complete information.  Interframe codecs toss out duplicated information.
In order to maintain peak rendering efficiency, AE needs complete information for each and every frame. But because these kinds of footage contain only partial information, AE freaks out, resulting in a wide variety of problems.
I'm a Mac guy, so I like to convert to Quicktime movies in the Animation or PNG codecs; both are lossless.  I'll use Apple's Compressor, Adobe Media Encoder or Quicktime Pro to do it.

  • PRS-T1 Crashing, Freezing and Touchscreen Issues

I'm getting A LOT of crashes and freezes using the PRS-T1. Sometimes the onboard reader software wants to close, other times the touch screen will die and I then have to do a reset. Yes, I fully charged the device before using it. It's VERY annoying. The Reader has probably crashed 10 times in the last 2 days.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I bought my T1 directly from Sony. I have had it for three days, and in that time it has crashed at least sixty times. Unbelievable. This is worse than any other device I have ever used.
The error messages always tell me that ContentManager has stopped working. I have loaded 1800 books onto the reader from my PC, and I have 293MB of free space. The most frequent crashes occurred when trying to add books to my collections on the device.
On my PRS350, which is a wonderful device in every way except for the fact that the screen is a little too small (which is why I bought the PRST1), I could page through my entire collection and select literally hundreds of books, then press the DONE button, and the reader would add them to my collection.
On the PRST1, if I select more than 30 books, ContentManager freezes up and dumps me back to the home page. All my work is for nothing. I have to start all over. This has happened to me at least 40 times. I nearly smashed the reader in disgust.
During all of this my wifi was not enabled, and I didn't have an SD card installed, and I wasn't listening to MP3s, so the problem was not caused by any of those things. It's the firmware itself.
It's unbelievably frustrating to have to build a collection of over 500 books, 30 books at a time. I can't believe Sony released firmware that was so awful. YOU GUYS NEED TO FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY. LOOK HOW MANY OF US ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS. LOOK HOW MANY PEOPLE SAY THEY EXCHANGED THEIR READER FOR ANOTHER ONE AND THEN HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IT'S NOT A DEFECTIVE DEVICE. IT'S THE FIRMWARE. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED.
    Provide an update *now*.
Attention users: please try to post EXACTLY what was happening when your crashes happened, how often they happened, how many books you had loaded, and especially, what error messages you see.
Nearly all of my error messages referred to ContentManager, and included a "Force close" button.
Here are the good things about the PRST1 compared to the PRS350: the screen is bigger. Highlighting and setting a bookmark takes about 15 seconds apiece on my 350, which is horrible. On the T1 they happen almost instantly - and that's great.
Here are the good things about the 350: The brushed aluminum case is wonderful - it looks and feels like quality, and it never shows fingerprints. And it never crashes. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever.
Fix the firmware, Sony. Fix ContentManager. Fix it. Make the @#$%^ reader do what you claim it can do. Right now, the firmware can't cope with 2GB of books. You, Sony, have an obligation to do better.
Are you going to fix the firmware?
