PPro cs6 - Audition cs6 - PPro, round trip problem

I'm having trouble completing the round trip. I got my audio tracks from PPro CS6 to Audition CS6 without problems, right by the manual. But I'm having trouble getting that audio work back  into PPro.
I'm working a mid-sized project (one hour class, two cameras, etc. headed for DVD). Got edit lock. Everything is done now except for cleaning up audio. After the audio I can send the whole lot to Encore for DVD making. But first, audio.
Took the entire sequence to Audition  via PPro's  "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..."  path. This worked just fine. It pushed all the audio files to Audition, Audition opened up and gave me a "make an Audition project" dialog box, etc. Nearly 100 files came over to Audition, on the right tracks, in the right order. Very nice. Made my changes. So far so good.
What I've read in the manual says that all I have to do when I'm done is "File...Save" in Audition, then PPro will have and use the changes. Sorta like Dynamic Link, but different. So I did the the project save.
At this point, things deviated a little from the plan. I started up PPro, opened the project, and no sign of the Audition work. Can't find a file anywhere in the project panel that says Audition on it. The files on the timeline are still the dark green of the multi-camera edit, not the lighter green of an Audition file. When I've done this for individual clips, I've gotten back a file with a name like "*Audio Extracted_1.wav" that shows up with the same green as the Audition icon on my desktop.
So I thought, fine. Not as easy as I had hoped. I'll just have to import it manually. But PPro doesn't seem to have any idea how to deal with a *.sesx file, which is the project file from Audition.
Should I be exporting, say, a *.wav file from Audition (how?) and import that into PPro? And if I do, is there a good workflow to re-sync this audio with my video tracks?
I'm confused. Don't know what I did wrong. Don't know what do to fix it. Don't know how to avoid this in the future. So any help gratefully received.
Bruce Watson

OK, now I *am* confused.
Just did it again (a different DVD project however), as described in my original post. This time PPro stayed open for me. So I sent all the sequence audio files to Audition via the "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..." comman, then did my editing in Audition, and saved it the Audition project. Go back to PPro, and... nothing. No sign of any file from Audition in the project panel. No sign on the time line. No sign of any Audition file anywhere in PPro that I can find.
What gives? What am I doing wrong?
What I did get was a folder at the same directory level as my PPro project file, a folder in it with the project_name I gave Auditon when it opened from the PPro  "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..." command, and then two files for every clip in the project (a *.wav and a *.pkf), and finally two more files, a project_name.xml and a project_name.xml.sesx.
I suppose I can export a *.wav file to PPro manually. Worked before. But I'd like to learn the "correct" way, the way Adobe intends it to work.
Darned if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong though. Help???

  • Round Trip problems with FCP, Motion and 16:9

    Hello all-
I've been having some problems with FCP5 and Motion 2. I am working with anamorphic footage (mini dv), and my problem lies in trying to use the "send to" feature in FCP to Motion 2. If I send some footage to Motion 2, edit it, and then go back to FCP to look at my edit, the anamorphic flag has been removed... the video is squished and there are black bars on the right and left sides of the film. I can easily fix this if I find the clip in the FCP browser and check the anamorphic flag, then drag and drop that clip over the original in the sequence, but I was wondering if there was an easier way. Is there a way to make it be anamorphic when it comes back into FCP from Motion 2?
    Thanks!

Yes, it loses the anamorphic flag on round trip. Just
ctrl/right-click on the Motion project in your
timeline, select Properties/Format and click on the
    anamorphic setting column.

    Patrick-
Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I've been doing, but I was just wondering if this was an actual bug or not. I guess we will have to wait for Apple to fix it...
BTW- Whenever I check the anamorphic culumn, I always have to re-drag and drop the clip in the timeline again. Is this right? Or should it go ahead and change it in the timeline automatically?
    Thanks again!

  • Round trip problems: Trying to remove "noise print"

    Hi,
I am having trouble understanding the nature of STP's round-trip capabilities.
I have a 40 minute FCP timeline (FCP v5.1.4 on an MacPro). I need to remove some camera "hum" from the majority of the clips (I have 6 clips total).
My problem began about a week ago when creating a sample clip for the client to see, I used the Send To > STP Multi-track project. I opened the audio clips in the waveform editor and did a reduce noise print for both clips (I had to do this twice for each side of the stereo clips). When going back to FC, I felt the reduce noise was too strong, so I tried to return to the ST Multitrack project and could not undo the reduce noise print. When I checked the actual "capture" clip in the FCP Capture Scratch folder - the reduce noise is saved onto the clip - How and why did STP make that a destructive edit?
My second issue is with regards to removing the noise print from all the other clips. Do I need to individually edit each clip segment to reduce the noise print? And if so - is there a way to do this non-destructively?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!
    -J

I'm guessing here a little . . . you may have done a save when in "audio file project". That will over write a master clip's audio. Simply return to the multitrack project and do a save there instead. Then, the effects will be saved to the sent file, not the master clip.
Also, anytime I know I'm going to be doing some "heavy duty" audio sweetening, I duplicate the timeline. That way, anything goes awry, I've got a clean timeline to return to.

  • 2 round trip problems.

We are working on three timelines that we are round tripping through Color....
Problem #1. Timeline in FCP is DVCPRO HD, 23.98 fps. Send to Color. Color project settings are now set to 29.97 fps DF, grayed out and can not be changed. When rendered and sent back to FCP, sequence settings are 23.98. Is this normal?
Problem #2. Only 1 of our timelines (the last one tried) will reconnect with the renders once we roundtrip back to FCP. Two will not. Render files do show up in the correct Finder directory. Sequences are conformed correctly in the (from Color) versions but do not link to the graded render files, they are not color corrected sequences.
I searched for these issues but did not come up with what we are experiencing. Any help is most appreciated.

OK, an update... Problem #2 was solved by saving all our grades in order, then re-sending the sequences to Color, applying saved grades, rendering and resending to FCP. Don't know why the first round didn't work.
Question #1 remains, why the mismatch in frame rate?
EDIT: SOLUTION FOUND... the culprit? PSD file as nested sequence (layered file) caused the frame rate issues, and possibly the roundtrip issue as well.

  • Logic 8 to STPro round trip problem.

    Hi all,
I hadn't used this in a while, but I seem to recall it working previously (a bit like the Apple Loop Utility used to work also, but that's another story)
Using the KC 'Open in External sample editor', I can send to SoundtrackPro and refine my sample (though I am still $%^& off that you can't turn off auto scrolling to make fine edits while listening in context), save it and return to Logic.... It used to update the file in Logic with the 'externally' edited version, but it doesn't anymore.... Not sure how long it has been like this.
Any one else care to share an insight in to this annoyance? Is it actually working for anyone else?
    Regards,
    Matt

No one else has this problem?
After using Final Cut Studio 2 for a while now, I am perplexed *** to why seamless integration doesn't occur in the Logic Studio 'bundle'... this is how they tend to promote the bundle products.

  • BPMN-BPEL round trip problem

    Hello,
    1) I am using JDeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.3.0 . Here I am able to create a new local BPA Server Connection, but once the
connection is created I am not able to see the connection in any view and so not able to see any Blue-prints of the
BPMN models I have created in Oracle Business Process Architect 11gR1.
    2) Also in JDeveloper when I am viewing any BPEL file, "BPA" view tab is always disabled. I tried updating JDeveloper with
    pcbpel_bundle.zip, but still no luck.
    Thanks, Yogesh

    Hi,
I got it from the link mentioned in this post Unable to download pcbpel_bundle.zip
But I guess you are right, http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/products/soa/pcbpel_bundle.zip is probably not meant for JDeveloper 11g.
As mentioned here http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/bpa/index.html, I could not find it under
JDeveloper-> Help -> Check for Updates.
    Thanks, Yogesh

  • Round Trip form Preiemer to Audition more than Once

Hoping someone can help.  I am struggling to work out how to send a project back to Audition more than once?  Basically I have a job that I sent from Premiere to Audition already but the client has come back with some further edits.  What I can't work out is how I can send that project back from Premiere to Audition for a second time once I have made the various edits requested Premiere so that I can just tidy up those bits back in audtion again.  At the moment it seems like I will have to try and re do all the work I had originally done in Audition or try and copy and paste clips form one Audition project to another and re align all the wave forms.
I am sure I am being stupid and missing something really basic so if someone can shed any light on how I can do this that would be great.
    Thanks in advance.
    Mark

    Hi Alan
Your right the files are there but all as separate wav files that were created when the Audition project was first created and I have the original Audition timeline that was created when I first sent the project back to Premiere. What I can't seem to figure out though is that when you send the project back from Premiere to Audition the new audio tracks that were created don't link back to the originally extracted wav files or the Audition Project that created them.  Instead Audition creates a new wav file for each complete track (for those tracks that came from Audition first time round).  However if you click on one of the single track clips from the original Audition to Premiere round trip and choose edit original it opens the original Audition project with all the clips in that created. Which isn't the behaviour I was expecting  I was hoping for something a bit like the dynamic link relationship between after effects and premiere so if you have round tripped your audio any further changes in premiere are reflected in the audition project or a copy of the audition project. Is there away of doing this?
    Thanks

  • Problem round tripping dpx PPro CS6

hi, I'm having problems finding the correct dpx export settings to maintain the levels as the original video files.
The project is from the 25fps 1080p DSLR template.
I've tested the exporting dpx at 8bit, full range (LOG)  and over range (LOG)  options and at max bitdepth where available.
When reimporting the dpx images into the same project to check levels and setting source characteristics to match exported characteristics for each file, ie: LOG where necessary including black and white points, on dropping them along side the original video the levels in each dpx are within the 0.0 to 1.0 range in the YC Waveform. My original video source file is > 1.0 in the YC Waveform.
I expected to see the same waveform as source in particular for the LOG exports. My understanding is that an inverse LOG op would be done, (preview in bin certainly shows gamma applied preview on LOG sources on setting import characteristics) that the result would be identical in levels to the source. The whole point of transferring 8bit full levels video as RGB image sequences at 10bit is to be able to round trip without clipping or clamping? I've tested the various dpx import options like 8bit levels, 16bit levels or 0.0 to 1.0 all show the same compressed waveform compared to original.
    Source files are here:
The original Canon T2i MOV remuxed to remove full range flag metadata to avoid Premiere h264 codec messing with luma levels on import. So get the full 0 - 255 luma. Used in the project above.
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/74780302/MVI_0907.mp4
The original Canon T2i MOV to compare with the mp4 above full range flag still on. Premiere mess's with luma levels in the naive file on import giving 16 - 235 luma. Not used in project.
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/74780302/MVI_0907.MOV
    dpx exports as described above:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/74780302/dpxs.zip
I wonder if someone could explain what settings are necessary to round trip dpx.

ProEXR plugin (Trial) solves the problem, round tripping full range video to levels > 1.0 (over IRE 100%) in image sequences works, first time no hassle. DPX in CS6 appears to be incapable of doing the same even in LOG. OpenEXR better route anyway.

  • Audition CS6 files not showing in PPro

From PPro, I did the "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence" command. This opened the all the clip audio files as a group in Audition as expected. Got done with editing in Audition, saved projected in Audition via "File...Save" command.
Go back to PPro (which has been open the whole time). Nothing. Not a trace of change. Not anywhere I can find.
    1) What is supposed to happen? I thought I'd see the newly edited audio files in the project panel, and the newly edited audio file on the timeline. But, what am I supposed to see?
    2) If I'm supposed to get files in PPro from this operation, and I didn't, what did I do wrong? Said another way, are there any tutorials out there that illustrate the correct way to do this PPro -> Audition -> PPro dance?
    3) At this stage, I suppose my path forward is just to export the project from Audition into PPro manually via the "Multitrack...Export to Adobe Premiere Pro" command. Is there a better way?

If you R click on the sequence name in the Project panel in Premiere and select Edit in Adobe Audition > Sequence, a set of .wav files (one for each clip in the sequence) called  "{file name} Extracted.wav" is created in a folder which has the name of the sequence, and is located within the folder which contains the video clips.
What i do is Edit my clips and save each one.
Now go back to Premiere and import the edited files.  You will have to place them on the Sequence.  I usually place them on Track 2, leaving the original audio on track 1, and turn this off to mute it.
I have never used the AA Export back to PPro command.
Oddly, if you do this for individual files, you do not have to import the extracted files, the file appears in the Premiere Project Panel as soon as you click Edit in AA.
    This is worth looking at:
    http://www.video2brain.com/en/lessons/editing-audio-with-adobe-audition
It is for CS5.5, but it looks as though the adding the edit tonew Audio tracks has gone in CS6.  It is replaced by a command in Premiere which appears when you have sent the session back to Premiere.

  • How do I import PPro CS6 presets into PPro CC?

Would appreciate help in moving my PPro CS6 presets to PPro CC. Thanks.

Please read this for the details of how to do the Import
    http://www.lightroomqueen.com/ready-move-aperture-iphoto/
With regards to whether or not you should "import the whole megillah", I am a big believer that you want all of your organizing in one catalog. You do not want some in iPhoto and some in Lightroom. By having everything in one catalog, you eliminate the problem caused by fallible human memory where you don't remember which organizing tool contains a particular set of photos. It also eliminates the problem that if things are in two (or more) organizing tools, there is no way to search for all items that meet a specific metadata search.

  • Adobe Audition CS6 Record Voice Problem

Hello Friends..! I've a problem :S My problem is record voice..! I don't save my voice on Adobe Audition CS6..! And There is an error..! Error İs " The sample rates of the audio input and output devices do not match. Audio cannot be recorded until this is corrected.
Use the appropiate operating system or audio device control panel to adjust the sample rates of the input and output devices to use the same settings." that! Please Help Me..! I edited   Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware...! but it's not been..!

If you are using an onboard soundcard such as a Realtek then you have to make sure that Windows has it set correctly before Audition can see it correctly.

  • Adobe audition cs6 play problem

    Hello!
i've just installed audition cs6, but when i open a song and hit the play button nothing happen, if i want to create a tone, same thing, i just cannot play anything on cs6, i have windows 8 and i updated audition to the latest version, what is the problem ?
Maybe it's a windows 8 problem, that wouldn't be the fist time, but i check the technical preferences and windows 8 is there, i've changed some settings in the audio hardware (in the preferences menu) but still nothing, i still cannot play something in cs6
Can somebody help me to solve this 'bug...'
    Thank you
    Stephan
you can email me at [email protected]

    Hi Stephan
Thank you for the additional information on your sound card.
it is always helpful to give as much information as you can about your setup so that
people can give you more appropriate help.
Are you on CS6 Adobe, this supports MME cards.
If you are on CS6, go to edit, preferences, Audio Hardware,
MME should be shown as the device class.
Below this your Default input and output should be your Soundblaster sound card.
The Master clock should also be the Soundblaster, if you haven't got any additional cards
attached to your computer the Soundblaster should be the only option.
Set the latency to 200 and the sample rate to 48,000, The Soundblaster cards are usually set to 48Khz
sample rate, so make sure this is selected.
Then go to Audio Channel mapping and make sure that the input is showing Soundblaster for both left and right
    channels.
The output should be set the same, depending on the model of card, both input and output may show
more inputs and outputs, Always select input Channel 1 Left (Mono) and Channel 2 Right
    Hope this helps
What you need to do is to download Asio4all from the internet,

  • Adobe Audition CS6 and Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire multitrack problem

I have the Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire mixer and am using Adobe Audition CS6 for my recording program.
I'm trying to connect 4 microphones via XLR and have them run in individual channels in Audition but I can't get more than 2 to show up on the program even though I have 3 plugged in right now. On top of that, I have to run input 1 and input 2 as mono channels instead of stereo channels to get it to work at all.
I'm looking to do a Podcast with my set up, is there a better program to use to record and edit? Or am I missing a driver for Audition or the Multi Mix?
    Thanks!

Well, first the easy bit.  Microphones ARE mono devices so using mono channels is absolutely correct.
Beyond that, you mention drivers.  There are no special drivers for Audition but it is worth going to http://www.alesis.com/multimix8firewire to see if there are any driver updates for your mixer.
You don't mention what Operating System you're using but whichever it is, you should go to the Audio Setup page for Windows (i.e. not in Audition) and make sure it's detecting all the channels from the Alesis properly.  You may have to set the Alesis as your default audio device for this.
On the Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware Setup menu in Audition, make sure you have the proper device type selected--I'd guess ASIO for a start.  Make sure your Alesis is selected as the default hardware.
On the Edit/Preferences/Audio Channel Mapping menu, make sure you can see all the channels from your Alesis.
Finally, on the Multitrack screen, set the Input for each track to be the appropriate channel from the Alesis.  If you're going to do this regularly, I recommend you get everything set up then save it as a Session template.
And I can't think of anything better than Audition for what you want to do...that's why it's used in thousands of radio stations around the world!

  • Problem Singing Up for Individual Subscription for Audition CS6

I'm an educator and have had a Creative Cloud subscription for a year. By chat I had a staff person cancel my Creative cloud subscription, but they were unable to help when it came to signing up for a monthly subscription to Audition CS6. Since then I've discovered one broken link, but have only been able to find Audition CC, but no CS6 for a monthly subscription for educators. This much I know, it should be available somewhere for $19.99 a month. Can anyone help me?

Just to be absolutely clear, Audition CS6 is the one you buy outright; if you want a monthly subscription it'll be Audition CC (and that's likely what you were using if you had a subscription to the whole Creative Cloud.
If you were using CS6 even though you had the subscription, I'd suggest you try CC.  There's no huge changes from CS6 (so no big learning curve) but it DOES have a bunch of nice added extras.  I have both CC and CS6 on my computer (and AA3.01 for that matter) but, other than checking things to answer questions in here, I can't recall the last time I used CS6 for real.
