Prblem with iSCSI on Win Server 2012R2 with HyperV role

Hi all,
I have some problems with iSCSI on Win server. The problem is the following.
When I restart server it cannot find the path with VMs configuration and VMs can't start. After few minutes all problems are gone and HyperV can find everything but I must start VMs manually.
The server is DELL R710 with Broadcom NICs. I tried to configure LAN interfaces for iSCSI in two ways. First - from OS and second - from Broadcom BACS with disabled NDIS/Ethernet and enabled iSCSI. The results are the same.
I have two more servers connected to the storage in the same way and everything is fine there.
 Events are following:

Hi Sergey,
>>When I restart server it cannot find the path with VMs configuration and VMs can't start. After few minutes all problems are gone and HyperV can find everything but I must start VMs manually.
As a workaround you can set the "startup delay" for VMs .
>>Initiator failed to connect to the target. Target IP address and TCP Port number are given in dump data.
The possible cause may be the network stack is not fully prepared when the initiator was trying to connect to persistent targets. The initiator will try to connect. When the network stack is fully prepared, the connection should be successfully established.
If you receive this error when the iSCSI target device that is listed on the
Favorite Targets tab no longer exists, you can resolve this issue by removing the iSCSI target device from the list of favorite targets.
If you receive this error, and you cannot access an iSCSI target device that is still configured on the network, make sure that the client computer has network connectivity to the iSCSI target. Additionally, make sure that name resolution is working correctly.
If you have successfully connected to your iSCSI target device despite this error, it indicates that the connectivity issue was temporary. Therefore, you can safely ignore this Error event.

  • CAL's Terminal server 2012R2 with existing Terminal servers in 2008R2

    Dear Everyone,
I'm installing a new terminal server 2012R2 for our dev team. I need to configure CAL's on this server to allow poeple to connect. The thing is we already have 2 servers in 2008R2 that are activated with CAL's (46).
My question is, may I add this new server in the same pool of CAL's ? I see in our volume licensing portal that they are already for 2012R2 BUT I don't want to kill the access to servers in 2008R2 !! (Production)
    Regards,
    Vincent

    Hi Vincent,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
See with RD License server it’s like that you can access any lower version of RDS CAL (Such as 2003, 2008\R2) with Server 2012\R2 but the vice versa scenario is not possible. So you need to install and configure RD Licensing server 2012\R2 and then manage all
other lower version from there. You can check interoperability article for RD License server.
RDS and TS CAL Interoperability Matrix

    Hope it helps!

  • Hyper-V Role deployement with MDT2013 on a Server 2012R2 Trial Version

    Hello,
when i deploy a custom image that i add the roles install Hyper-V, everything works fine, added the SkipRoles=Yes,
and the role Hyper-V is installed at the end of my new server 2012R2 Trial version, HOWEVER,
there's no icon that appears on the desktop, on the manager, the Hyper-V Manager option is not there,
all the Hyper-V related services are installed.
Seems there's a GUI issue, however in server manager the roles appear on the left side
I reboot, and yet nothing appears, i uninstall the Hyper-V role manually, reboot, re-install manually and the missing shortcuts appear.
Can someone provide me a hint to fix this, i've tested other roles and they also don't appear (DNS).
Thanks in advance for your replys

You are talking about two different things here. The Hyper-V Core, and the Hyper-V Tools. It appears that you want both. Run the following command:
    dism.exe /online /get-features
and verify that all hyper-v components are installed:

    State : Enabled
    Feature Name : Microsoft-Hyper-V-Offline

    Feature Name : Microsoft-Hyper-V-Online

  • CAS with WSUS(SUP)upstream server connected with microsoft for updates and 3 downstream servers Primary with WSUS(sup)

    hi aaa
WSUS in the same site server with sccm but we have one cas and three primary with WSUS
how much traffic will generate due to this process , as our CAS with WSUS will be in the same box and it will provide updates to downstream Servers in three primary sites. IS it good to have WSUS and site server together as we have SQL in different box for
    all three primary and CAS.

     Hi Torsen
35000 clients with CAS 16GB memory and  300GB Hard disk same for all primary sites
Germany with 6000 clients ,norway with china with 15000 clients and UK with 10000clients
As the client wanted to Use CAS ,we have created CAS otherwise it could be standalone primary site.
CAS in China with each region having Primary site so we have three primary.

  • Strange behaviour of OS X Server DNS with IPv6 reverse zones

I am running a full IPv4 / IPv6 dual stack setup across several machiens including a server (OS X 10.9.1 / OS X Server 3.0.2). I also have IPv6 Internet access via TunnelBroker and have a /64 prefix assigned to me. All my systems have valid and correct IPv6 addresses (not temporary ones) from the range denoted by that prefix.
I have setup IPv4 and IPv6 addresses for all my systems in OS X Server DNS and that works fine. However, when I add an IPv6 address for a system, the DNS server (or maybe the server GUI) insists on creating a reverse zone for the /127 version of the address. This means I pretty much have a separate reverse zone for every system, which seems crazy to me. it is especially annoying as I have another DNS server where all my zones are defined as slave zoes (for availability reasons) and thsi makes the process of addign a new IPv6 host somewhat tedious. I tried pre-creating a properly named reverse zone for the /64 prefix but the DNS server would not use that and still persists in creating these strange zones.
    Here is a (fictitous example)...
    My /64 prefix is 2001:fd0:f19:2ab::/64
I have a system with an address of 2001:fd0:f19:2ab:7e6d:62ff:fe8a:a84c
I add this to OS X Server DNS and it created the reverse DNS zone:
    4.8.a.a.8.e.f.f.f.2.6.d.6.e.7.b.a.2.0.9.1.f.0.0.d.f.0.1.0.0.2.ip6.arpa
whereas I would expect it to instead add it to the zone
    b.a.2.0.9.1.f.0.0.d.f.0.1.0.0.2.ip6.arpa
    if that zone already exists.
Has anyone else noticed this? Or do you have it working as one might expect?

    Chris..
I, too, have the same problem.  I take issue with much of the OS X "Server" after it has been so completely dummed down that it is virtually useless for anyone that would actually like to utilize it as an actual, as the name implies, "SERVER."  I won't get into all of the details of everything that drives me crazy with Apple's decisions here but, suffice it to say, I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with Apple more than ever.  They should, at a minimum, offer a full-fledged server like they used to have, for an additional price, for people that need more than a nice looking interface and a worthless box.
That being said, the DNS server, like the rest of the OS X Mavericks Server, is dummed down to the point of allowing very little customization.  Short of using the command line, which I have decided to do (I scrapped the OS X server all together, and just set up BIND, openLDAP, DHCP, Quagga, etc. from the CLI just like I do with all of my Linux servers), there is not much you can do to get the correct prefixes to show up in IPv6 reverse zones.  The reason is that when you enter the forward record, the interface does not give an option to enter the prefix.  So, it seems that for EACH AND EVERY v6 entry (AAAA record) you have (or at least every 10 entries), you will get a separate reverse zone.
To be completely honest, I don't even know why they included IPv6 zones in this implementation because it is totally out of compliance with the RFCs and, obviously, will not provide proper and correct reverse lookups.  How could it? As you pointed out above, with a /64 prefix, you're getting a 31 digit long reverse zone (which, btw, is a /124)...***???  I've never heard of such a thing.  There should be 16 digits in a /64, 12 in a /48, 8 in /32 and so on.
I don't think it is anything to do with your using a tunnel broker -- all of our systems are native IPv6 and all reverse queries to the Mac Server fail.
I can tell you how to use the CLI to manually enter the zones with the serveradmin tool, if you like, but my advice is to just move to a full fledged BIND implementation .... and, if you want some type of interface other than the console, use something like Webmin which has a GREAT DNS zone interface...and it also keeps up with the RFC compliance.
Just message me back if you'd like the shell commands.  I hate to say this, it literally pains me, but I administer a ton of servers (physical and virtualized)... roughly 1000 +- to be exact...and WINDOWS Server has a DNS server that is so much further ahead and ADVANCED than Mac, it is disgusting.  In fact, we are running 12 Win Server 2012R2 Active Directory Domain Servers, each running synchronized DNS records and even with over 250,000 DNS records, it works like a champ.  Still, our primary and fail-safe DNS servers are all BIND v9.  Like I said, it is awful to say that about Mac, but dude, they need to wake up and either get back to the real-deal systems or just get out of the advanced product arena all together.  (one exception...my new MacPRO is AWESOME and the most advanced piece of computing equipment money can buy for the price...so kudos there)
Sorry about the rant, but when i read your post, I was reminded how frustrated I am at all of this nonsense.
    Take care...and good luck.

  • Server 2003 with two network cards problems

We have a win server 2003 with two network cards. From the server we connect using a vpn client from cisco to another server. When we do that we can NOT RDC to our server because it inherits the remote IP from the vpn connection. We installed an additional NIC. We gave an static IP to connect to our local network. How can we or is there a way to tell the vpn client to use one nic card and leave the other so we can RDC to it? thanks

It is possible to configure server to use on nic for incoming and other for outgoing, but it is not possible when vpn client is running. Also it cannot be specified as to which card to use.

  • I can not sync my iCal in my Mac Book Pro with other iOS5 Devices. The server responded with "507" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.

The iCal in my Mac Book Pro does not seem to sync / push in iCloud. I can not synchronize the iCal in my iPad2. A window pops out with the message: The server responded with a "507" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.

That may not be what you want, but it's what's going to happen if you sync it to your Mac.  You are trying to sync media to your phone from an iTunes library other than the one it is set up to sync with.
Transfer the data from the computer you have been syncing with to the new one, then set up a new sync relationship.

  • How to copy the International settings from current user to default user/welcome screen on Windows 8.1/ Server 2012R2 via PS script?

    Hi,
I have to script the international settings in virtual machines which are Win Server 2012R2 or Win 8/8.1.
For the current user, it's quite easy.
    new-WinUserLanguageList nl-BE
    set-WinUserLanguageList nl-BE
    Set-WinSystemLocale nl-BE
    set-Culture nl-BE
But how can I copy these settings to the Default user/Welcome screen? I cannot find a solution for that. Even on the site of Microsoft,
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh852115.aspx all CMDlets are only for the current user.
Maybe I'm looking with the wrong keywords, but... With Powershell v4 it should be possible, isn't it?
Thanks for looking together and hopefully we can find an answer.
    Kind reg,
    Dirk

Questions like this would best be answered in the deployment forum.
The default lock screen tracks the current user.  The system lock screen tracks the local system admin account.
There is a SYSTEM profile which, I believe, can be set via registry.

  • Multiple WINS server registrations

I have an Xserve running 10.4.11 Server which acts as a standalone server for Windows file sharing. However, it disappears from the network browser on the PC workstations at regular intervals.
I have found that most likely the issue is the cycling of the WINS registration servers of the network this Server operates under. There are a primary and secondary server which switch positions and the server disappears from the network browser because it is now registered with the secondary WINS server only.
In the Server Admin, is there any way to specify 2 WINS servers? There is only one box and commas don't appear to work either. All of the PCs register with both WINS servers by DHCP.

I should also note that the Server is configured with DHCP and a manual IP address.

data (home folders) to the New Partition.  How do I go about without doing a fresh install. pl help

    Hi Journville,
Do you mean you have install a server 2012R2 but used up all your current disk and you want to migrate the current user profile data to another partition? It is not support
    scenario.
    User Profile folder relocation
Folder Redirection is partially supported by OS:
Correct functionality of redirected folder is delegated to third party applications and could generate problem after OS installation
The Directory Database can be moved to others partition, you can refer the following related KB:

  • Context Directory Agent server 2012R2

    Hi,
Win server 2012R2 is not offically on the supported list for Contex Directory Agent ( CDA  ) , anyone tested this setup ?
I have been following the Installation guide for 2012 : http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ibf/cda_10/Install_Config_guide/cda_install.html but I the server stays red in the CDA gui. No error messages in the log though.
CDA is patch1 and CDA user is within the Domain Admin group and necessary priv changes according to the installation document is in place ( registry key ownership etc,) , firewall on the server has been temporarily disabled.
Just wanted to see if there is anyone who got the combination CDA/2012R2 running and/or when there will be an official patch to CDA to add 2012R2 support.

I opened a case and they refer me to bug CSCun10631.
    (CDA doesn't support 2012R2).
the good news is that a new patch (3) should be release this month (July) and will include support.
