PRC Collab Java API - external op job?

I am looking into using the PRC Collab Java API (to add calendar tasks programmatically) and want to know if that could be called as an external operation. It would probably be possible if the latest version edk.jar with the Collaboration API was on the Automation Portal Server. We have Automation Portal 5.0.4 installed and it comes with an older version of the EDK.jar.
Any comments and recommendations on on the best method way to accomplish what I am trying to do, would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Vanita

Collaboration Server API support is added to the EDK since v 5.1.  It provides support for Collab Project, documents, tasks and disucssions.  You can use methods in com.plumtree.remote.prc.collaboration.tasklist.ITaskListManager and ITaskList to create tasklists and tasks.  However, if you want to manage Collab Calendar events, you cannot use PRC Collab API, since there is currently no Calendar support in the API.

  • Multiple Data Sources and Accessing External Java APIs

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a couple of questions for which I was not able to find satisfactory answers in the forum search, so here they are. I would be really grateful if you can help us out with this.
    1. Accessing two Data Sources in the same report: We have a requirement to access two data sources in the same report, and use the data from one source to run a query on the other source. Our product (OIM) has its own DB. And it integrates with BPEL (another Oracle application) for some functionality. BPEL has its own DB. A few reports need data from both these repositories. For simplicity, consider that we need to join two tables, but one table is in OIM DB and the other is in BPEL DB. I guess such a join is not possible. So to work around it, we would like to run a query against one DB and then use the results to run a query on the other DB, which will basically simulate the join by running two queries.
    Is something like this possible in BIP? If not directly available, can you suggest something which can act as a work around to achieve this?
    2. Calling External Java APIs from BIP: We need to call some external APIs (for achieving Data Security) 'before' we run the queries in BIP. Basically the Java API will specifya set of keys which will have to be used in an 'in' clause. I looked at the section "Building a Data Template" in the BIP User's Guide (http://bipublisher.us.oracle.com/doc/prod_docs/BI_Publisher_10_1_3_3_3/bip.1013/b40017/T421739T434255.htm). As far as I can see, it discusses how to invoke a PL/SQL procedure using <datatrigger> but the usage is not clear to me. Is there any other document that discusses this in detail? Also, I am not sure if it is possible to access Java APIs. Has it been done before? If yes, then can anyone provide some sample code (sample report bits) which I can refer to to get this thing working?
    Also, the data coming from the Java API may not be in the correct format. We may have to do some additional processing (like converting data in a Java Object to something like comma separated list to be plugged into a query). Is that possible? What will be the best approach here?
    Sorry for the detailed post!
    Thanks,
    Jatan

    Yes you should be able to use both - for example using a Flash Variable to pass in the URL of the XML that you want to load.
    FlashVars are only supposed to be passed in on startup and they are defined as part of the OBJECT/EMBED tag for the HTML.
    Actually it was possible to update FlashVars at runtime in Xcelsius 4.5 with certain JavaScript calls but not in Xcelsius 2008 (because Adobe Flex which Xcelsius 2008 is based on does not allow the same mechanism).
    FYI, for those that are interested in Xcelsius 2008 you pass values into/out of Xcelsius at runtime using External Interface and JavaScript instead.

    Matt

    The IAS product contains two Java Virtual Machines (JVM) within it's
    architecture.
    They are called :
    1) APACHE JSERV servlet engine
    2) ORACLE ENTERPRISE JAVA ENGINE (EJE)
    APACHE JSERV servlet engine
    The APACHE JSERV servlet engine is an EXISTING product licensed from the
    apache group which supports the servlet api 2.0.ONLY.
    The APACHE JSERV product does not support ANY JSP's unless the customer
    installs a third party jsp engine.
    The IAS 8i/9i which has the APACHE JSERV product embedded in it, comes with
    Oracle's JSP engine (OJSP) already integrated into it. OJSP supports JSP's up
    to the specific JSP engine version documented in the Oracle Universal
    Installer (OUI) for the 8.1.7 RDBMS or the IAS products. It is also documented
    in the product's release notes.
    Oracle ENTERPRISE JAVA ENGINE (EJE)
    The EJE formerly known as :
    1) Oracle 8i Java Virtual Machine (JVM)
    2) JSERVER component,
    3) Aurora JVM
    was originally releas ed in the RDBMS 8.1.5 database with jdk 1.1.6 based java
    support.
    The currently supported versions of the Oracle 8i RDBMS, versions 2 and 3,
    also known as Version 8.1.6 and 8.1.7, respectively, provides a jdk 1.2.1
    based java virtual machine support.
    "EJE" Version 816
    This EJE, found in rdbms 8.1.6 and IAS 8i, contains support for the ejb
    api 1.0, corba, and java stored procedures.
    "EJE" Version 817
    This EJE, found in rdbms 8.1.7 and IAS 9i, contains support for the ejb,
    corba, and java stored procedures as well as the Oracle Servlet Engine (OSE)
    which provides support for the servlets 2.2 api and JSP 1.1 api.
    Note :
    EJB support in the "EJE" Version 817 has been upgraded to comply with the EJB
    1.1 api specification which includes "entity beans" support.
    What is the bottom line ??
    1) Servlets deployed to the APACHE JSERV must comply with servlet api 2.0.
    2) Servlets 2.1 or higher are only supported in EJE's OSE component found in
    the rdbms 817 or ias 9i products. Servlets api 2.0 can also run in the OSE.

    which jvm is used by jserv ?? EJE or a separate jdk ?
    The Jserv servlet engine is running in a separate jdk JVM external to the EJE jvm which is embedded within the "database" component of ias and the RDBMS.
    See the reference below for more details ...
    if jserv only support old apis, why it is in oracle's products ?
    i would assume that the oracle servlet engine was under development when ias 8i was released and became available in time for the ias 9i and rdbms 817 products.
    looking back in history leads me to believe ias 8i was a migration path to get to ias 9i or rdbms 817.
    Based upon the long history of new releases of every oracle product being upgraded with new features, it's reasonable to assume that these products will continue to evolve.
    when I deploy a jsp how to deploy in the right servlet container ("EJE") ?
    as documented in the reference below, you can deploy JSP's to either the apache jserv jvm or the EJE since the ORACLE JSP engine functionality is in both jvm's.
    there are many posts where you can see that people have deploy in jserv and they have problems because they don't use the right container (servlet 2.0 instead of
    servlet 2.2) http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum2/HTML/006349.html
    when ias 8i came out this was clearly an issue since servlet support was at api 2.0, and the current servlet api was probably at 2.1.
    oracle clearly made every effort to get ias 9i released quickly to supply a servlet 2.1 and 2.2 capable engine to resolve this issue.
    since ias 9i and rdbms 8.1.7 are available this is no longer an issue.
    The reference below explains the architecture and understanding it would eliminate a lot of "deploy to the wrong ias 9i component" issues.
    so why jserv is bundled with oracle 8i/9ias since EJE support the right api version ?
    if in ias 9i release , oracle had removed the jserv component without any advance warning, many customers would have been very upset since oracle makes every attempt to give advance notice before removal of functionality.

    I assume here that your application is deployed on a different physical machine of where LCES is deployed and running.
    Do the following test:
    - Say that LCES is deployed on machine1 and your application is deployed on machine2. Ping machine1 from machine2 and note the ip address.
    - Ping machine1 from machine1 and note the ip address.
    The two pings should match.
    - Ping machine2 from machine1 and note the ip address.
    - Ping machine2 from machine2 and note the ip address.
    The two pings should match.
    Usually this kind of error would happen if your servers have internal and external ip addresses.

  • XI interface with third party using Java API

    Hi All,
    We have the following requirement:
    XI needs to interface with an external third party system which has JAVA API capabilities and the corresponding JAR files available to us.
    I have seen a few threads where it was mentioned that we could call the Java methods directly in User Defined functions:
    Process Integration (PI) & SOA Middleware
    My question: Is this approach feasible in our scenario? Also I guess we do not need to configure any adapter for this Java Method call within the UDF.
    Your help will be greatly appreciated and rewarded.
    Regards,
    Jai.

    Thanks Stefan.
    Our requirement has slightly changed. We have installed a thirdparty application on XI Server (within our network , inside filrewall). The application with Java API Jar file. All it does is a Lookup and retruns a value.
    We are planning to import the Jar file into imported Archives and call the method within a UDF.
    Is this feasible? I am going to give it a try.
    Your expert comments are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jai

    Hi Suresh,
    You can have the MDM JAVA API javadocs from the link
    http://help.sap.com/javadocs/MDM/SP06P2/index.html
    There you can see a package named com.sap.mdm.examples.The classes in it contains some examples using which you can start understanding the code.
    You need to have MDM JAR files for it. And these JAR files to be used at build time can be added to the project thru :-
    Right click on project-> properties->Java Build Path - > Add external JARs
    At run time you can add them the reference in
    Right click on project-> properties->web dynpro references->library reference.

  • How to initialize a replica by using Java API?

    Hi, I used to initialize a replica by adding the attribute nsDS5BeginReplicaRefresh=start to the replica agreement and it works fine by using the ldapmodify commandline utility. Now I am trying to use the Java API to do the same, but I always get the Object class violation error. And I noticed that when I use the Java API to create the replica, it has the different attributes than the one created by the commandline utility. The former has the serializedJavaData and javaClass, ... And I can't find any documentation on this issue. It's really frustrating! I am wondering if the replica agreement has different attribute for initializing? If so, why it's never documented?

    Things to check -
    1) Does the user you specified in the connection have the role OLAP_USER
    2) Does the user you specified in the connection have access to an OLAP schema (analytic workspace or CWM2 ROLAP schema)
    3) Have you installed the correct JDBC files from your database instance into the BI Beans JDBC directory

  • Help with Essbase 9 and the Java API

    Hi, I am trying to connect to Essbase from a Java desktop application and I am unable to do so. I need to know if I am in principle doing the right things and if I have the correct environment set up.
    We have a server with Essbase version 9.3.1. We normally use essbase via the Excel Addin, and I have already written Excel applications that utilise both the addin and the Essbase VB API. Now I need to connect to Essbase but from outside Excel and using the Java API. I have no idea what APS is nor does my Essbase Administrator.
    My application has the following code (adapted from a post in this forum) -
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    String s_userName = "user";
    String s_password = "password";
    String s_olapSvrName = "ustca111";
    String s_provider = "http://localhost:13080/aps/JAPI";
    try{
    IEssbase ess = IEssbase.Home.create(IEssbase.JAPI_VERSION);
    IEssDomain dom = ess.signOn(s_userName, s_password, false, null, s_provider);
    IEssOlapServer olapSvr = dom.getOlapServer(s_olapSvrName);
    olapSvr.connect();
    System.out.println("Connection to Analyic server '" + olapSvr.getName() + "' was successful.");
    olapSvr.disconnect();
    }catch(EssException exp){
    System.out.println(exp.getMessage());
    I am running my application on my computer, not on the Essbase server, and the username I am using is the same one I use (as a user of Essbase) via the Essbase Addin in Excel, not an admin login.
    When I run the app I get:
    "Cannot connect to Provider Server.Make sure the signon parameters are correct and the Provider Server is running."
    Please can you confirm:
    1) Do I need an admin login for my client application to connect to the Essbase server or can I use a normal read-access login, like the one I use in Excel?
    2) Is the provider always the same regardless of the computer, i.e. "http://localhost:13080/aps/JAPI"; How do I know what this has to be? Where do I get this information from?
    3) How can I make sure that the Server is running the necessary "Provider Server", is this just a service that will show on services.msc of the server? What should I ask the Essbase Administrator for him to tell me what I need?
    Thank you very much.
    Leo

    Tim, when I look in my computer's Essbase installation path I can only find the following jar files (from the ones you have listed).
    C:\Hyperion\AnalyticServices\JavaAPI\external\css\log4j-1.2.8.jar
    C:\Hyperion\AnalyticServices\JavaAPI\lib\ess_es_server.jar
    C:\Hyperion\AnalyticServices\JavaAPI\lib\ess_japi.jar
    I do not have css-9_3_1.jar or interop-sdk.jar.
    In order to try the embedded mode, I added the three jars I have to the classpath, and have re-built and ran with "embedded" as the provider. This is what I got in my output screen:

    Now that I can get both modes to work I intend to write a Windows application, place it in a shared drive, and allow multiple users to use it. Which mode should I use?
    By the way, I found the essbase.properties file in C:\Hyperion\AnalyticServices\JavaAPI\bin, but when I add it to my app and test it in embedded mode, I get even more errors, but it still gives me the result...output below:

  • Merging any type of documents into existing PDF using Adobe Java APIs

    We know that latest Adobe Acrobat tool can convert any type
    of documents into PDF. We need the same functionality to be built
    in into our java code by using Adobe's Java APIs. I am sure that
    Adobe has some readily available Java APIs to handle such
    requirements.
    FYI: We don't want Adobe's tool to handle this and we want
    Adobe's available Java API to handle this merging functionality
    programatically. We are ready to pay for it.
    Thanks,
    Ashok Hottin

    I'm not 100 percent sure but I'm afraid the way you want to use this Web-service is far from what SAP/Adobe thought it should be used. Take a look at SAP Library [here |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/f2/21021b911f4c0cae11459a4ce0bc62/frameset.htm] and [here|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/8d/1cbf69fff9454ca9c5de84182e4bfb/frameset.htm]. This solutions relies on previously created PDF Form Template - that means, e.g. tables are not rendered as if being printed with any number of columns and rows, but components of data tables coming from SAP are injected in rows/columns of the form where they were planned to be during template design.
    Additionally I think your idea of such usage of Adobe Document Services is not covered with software license you have as SAP customer/partner. Once again, I'm not 100% sure about it.
    Still, my opinion is that you won't succeed in it anyway due to the logic of the solution.
    Special PDF manipulation components will do the job better and easier, and nearly of them have demo/trial versions. So, if you ask me, don't waste your time and check special components.

  • Use of JAVA API

    Hi Experts,
    I created a java program by using java api for getting  item details from MDM. Its working perfect.
    I need to download the output of the program & send to external system as file for reporting.
    how can I get output of program into file. I need to setup the program it has to run once in a day.
    Where I need to setup the configuration for running of the program once in a day( should be automatic).
    how to download the output of the program to a file.
    Please provide me the ideas how to achive the above functionality.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thank you,
    Kiran.G

    Hi Kiran!
    as a nice solution u could write simple java program which
    -generate report
    -put it in file
    -archive it if necessery (it's really simple with help of Rar )
            Process arch = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c rar a -m0 -df -v10240 " + dir + ".rar " + dir);
            InputStream stdin = arch.getInputStream();
            InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(stdin);
            BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(isr);
            String line = null;
            while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) {
    -send file via mail (just use JavaMail, it's not necessery to use external application as sendmail for example)
    -after that with the help of cmd of your OS delete file
                arch = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c del " + dir + "*.rar");
                arch.waitFor();
    all example for win nt command line
    and after that u can use any Scheduler of your OS to run your program once in a day
    if u need some example how to attach and send files via JavaMail - ask for help, i'm glad to help u

  • Inetgrating MDM Java API's with Java proxies on XI side

    Hello friends
    Can anyone help me on integrating MDM JAVA API's used for talking to MDM Server and the Javaproxies we generate from the XI side.I am having an application class inside the Java API's (it contains the main function)which triggers the functionality on the MDM side.But how to trigger it from the Java proxies side??I can get the different fields that I have to send  in the impl.java program of my generated proxy,but how to trigger the MDM Java API's from inside this.Also there is one problem I needed to pass the datatype fields from the Javaproxy(XI)side to the CRUDMAINTABLERecord program..Since importing the javaproxy package is giving me an error(I don't know why)I don't know how to pass these datatypes to the CRUD program.Please help me out on this urgently.Thank you all in advance.

    Hi Deepthi,
    I had used the below code for retrieving the workflow's id's
      RetrieveWorkflowsCommand RetriveworksFlows = new RetrieveWorkflowsCommand(connections);
    RetriveworksFlows.setSession(session);
    try{
        RetriveworksFlows.execute();
    catch(Exception e)
    WorkflowProperties[] workflowpro = RetriveworksFlows.getWorkflows();
    WorkflowId[] workflowid = new WorkflowId[workflowpro.length];
    for(int n=0;n<workflowpro.length;n++)
    workflowid[n] = workflowpro[n].getId();
    String workfloName = workflowpro[n].getLaunchType()+"";
    System.out.println("id--"workflowid"name"+workfloName);
    and for creating the workflow job id i had written the below code
    CreateWorkflowJobCommand workflowjobcommand = new CreateWorkflowJobCommand(connections);
    workflowjobcommand.setWorkflowId(workflowid[0]);
    workflowjobcommand.setRecordIds(recordId);
    workflowjobcommand.setSession(session);
    try{
        workflowjobcommand.execute();
    catch(Exception e)
    then to start the workflow what  i  have to do .
    please expain me

  • Call a Java API inside a java mapping

    Hi,
    I have a web service in SAP PI 7.0 that recives a PDF coded in base64. I need to call an external Java API provided by a partner for extract its digital signature and return it as Web Service Response. It's possible to do the call to a Java API inside a Java mapping for doing this? What is necessari for doing this call?
    I think that I Need to install the Java libraries in SAP J2EE stack and import its inside the java mapping. Need I something else?
    can you show me any exemple?
    thanks.

    Hi,
    Put your jar files on your servers java path. Doing so you can have direct access into an udf for your libraries.
    Another option (for testing purposes is a good idea) is to attach to the scenario your jar file. Go to mapping objects, imported archives, and import your jar file there. By this way it will be visible only on the context of the software component and namespace where you put the file.
    Regards.
