Preflight not catching all RGB images?

Hello.  New to the forums, here!  I thank you all in advance for your help.  Now, I completed a project in InDesign and conducted a preflight, as  usual.  After correcting all of the issues I relinked the images, and  then conducted a final preflight to make triple sure all of the issues  were corrected.  I then packaged the files, put them on a thumb drive,  and sent the drive to the printers.  Today, I receive word that  everything is fine except for the printers had to correct 4 images that  were left in RGB.  Confused, I rechecked the indesign files I sent and preflight still didn't show any problems.  I then tried to check each image file in the "link" folder in my pacakged file and nothing showed up there either.  I mean, I did copy and paste an image or two from another InDesign file (but I believe they ended up being linked), and also copied and pasted a few vectors from Illustrator into InDesign (so I could make small edits and change colors), but I didn't think it would be a problem.  Could those copy and pasted images or vectors be the cause?  If not, what could?  I'm using CS4.

Pasted material would NOT show in the links panel, but that shouldn't be affecting preflight. Are you using the Live Preflight, or the old preflight that you access through the File menu?
I've seen cases where prepress mislables spot colors as RGB, too. It would help if you could get more information from them about what was really found.

  • The library module in 4.3 version does not show all the images

The library module in the version 4.3 of Lightroom does not show all the images. They are marked with gray boxes instead of images. This is especially true of the images which I tried to import to Lightroom since I downloaded 4.3 a few weeks ago. If I want to seen an image, I have to go to the develop module to see it. What should I do?  Get this fixed now!!!!!!!!

My bet would be on a corrupt preview folder.
Your preview folder is located in the same folder as your catalog. It has the same name as your catalog with the word Previews.LRDATA at the end of the name. Rename this folder and let Lightroom rebuild the previews. Go to Library>Previews>Render Standard-sized Previews.  See if that fixes it.
If it doesn't, you may want to have a look here: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/photos-appear-black-gray-rectangles.html

  • Firefox is not displaying all the images on any of the websites that I access. I upgraded to 4.0 and it worked correctly for about a day and then reverted back to the problem.

When I open a website using Firefox it displays the text but none of the graphics. I upgarded to 4.0 and it was temporarily corrected. Now it has reverted to no graphics,

    Hi there,
I have the same issue: FireFox is not showing all images on the page.
Noticed this in FireFox 5.0. Now I installed FireFox 5.0.1 and still have the same issue.
The missing images do not even appear in Tools > Page Info > Media.
The images are usually accessed using DIV tag with a CSS class which contains background-image style. Often, when page opens, the DIV is initially hidden, and JavaScript displays it. Sometimes, jQuery.html() adds such DIV tags, and images rarely appear. Sometimes they do, but more often they do not.
If I install FireBug and use Inspect Element to find such a DIV, it is there, it contains the CSS class, the definition of the CSS class contains background-image style. If I click the icon to disable this style, and then click it again to enable it, the image immediately shows up.
Seems to be caused by some optimization which does not detect images like these.
Hope this helps you reproduce it.

  • Safari not showing all the images in my Facebook feed

In the category of “small and annoying problems"…
For the past while (since Mavericks?) I’ve noticed a tendency for the images not to load in Facebook. Not all, just some. and they do come back if I hit refresh…but it is unusual in performance. This, I freely admit, could be a Facebook problem. But I was curious if anyone else out there was having the same problem…

iTunes is indeed using the second feed you list but this immediately redirects to the first feed when you enter the URL in a browser. Presumably you have a redirect in place on the server? There are 115 episodes in the Store, and though I didn't count the ones in the feed they seem to match. So it all seems to be working and you could probably just leave it alone - since you have added episodes to the feed and iTunes has (presumably) picked then all up, the redirect seems to be working there OK. (Next time you add an episode to the feed, make sure it does indeed appear in the Store - after a couple of days - and when subscribing - this latter is immediate).
If you really want to change iTunes to the feed directly you are going to have to go through a bit of a process:
    1. Copy the feed at http://construct.wickedbad.net/feed/podcast to the other location at
    http://construct.wickedbad.net/archives/category/mixes/jaime-le-dubstep/feed
    2. Add the redirect tag to this copy feed as indicated here:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#changing
    3. Remove the server redirect.
    4. Leave the copy feed in place until iTunes has swapped over (check this by subscribing from the Store page, clicking the line for your podcast (not an episode) and clicking the 'i' button at the right-hand end.

  • How do I convert all RGB images to CMYK for PACKAGING - InDesign CC?

I understand that they can be exported as a CMYK pdf - but I'm splitting a project with another designer and she needs to get me all of her files - many of which are RGB - need them CMYK.  Thanks!

You can't convert the color mode of links during packaging -- and you don't need to, most likely. Why do you think you must have CMYK? Unless you know the correct output space now, and have no plans to re-purpose the file in the future (and even if those things are true and you don't need to make post conversion adjustments to the color) there is no advantage, and plenty of disadvantage, to converting to CMYK before export.

  • FIM Password Synchronization Not Catching All Password Changes

I have a FIM 2012 R2 environment and I'm about to start synchronizing password changes from AD into our legacy systems.  I have PCNS installed on my DCs and the AD MA in FIM configured as a password sync source.
Everything works - just not all of the time.
I've enabled PCNS verbose logging on the DCs.  I'm getting "The password notification has been delivered to all targets - (Event ID 2100)"
success messages for all password changes but the FIM sync engine ony appears to be acting on ~25% of the incoming changes.
I had thought it was my password extension code that may have been having issues but I stripped it down to simply dropping an event into an event log and it's still dropping 75% of the changes.
Has anyone else seen this behaviour before?
Is there any way to correlate PCNS events with some form of log in FIM?  I can't seem to find anything in the event log that's tied to password changes.
    Cheers,
        Ian

Looks like I managed to solve this one myself (it's alot easier once you manage to get logging to work correctly (doh!)).
The problem lies in the way we're currently provisioning AD accounts (out of band through a scripted process).  This means that accounts show up in AD before FIM knows that they exist - FIM isn't having a problem finding the user in the password target
connector space, it's having a problem finding them in the password source connector space.
The 25% that are succeeding are the individuals who have already been recognized by FIM in both the source and target connector spaces.

Are you sure that there is no 'invisible' character embedded ?
Seems likely that non-graphic/non-imageable control character(s) in Unicode are the cause, if
    a. control characters are identified and input from the Character Palette such as spacing control characters and joining/non-joining control characters for ligation, or
    b. characters are identified from a non-default keyboard whose key codes generate combining character sequences that don't map to a specific writing system in script.
But if so, then assigning a spelling dictionary to the selected character string ought to show a lot of red alerts where the spelling dictionary fails sections of the character string, no?
Another way of working this is to ask the person with the problem to open the Character Palette, insert the cursor in the string of characters, press shift and right arrow once and once only (left arrow once and once only, respectively), press the Advanced icon at lower left, and select Show Character Selected in Application, and see what character is shown. However, this will not work if a combining character sequence is inserted, see previous discussions from time to time since the turn of 2008.

  • LR not showing all images on card during Import

I have the latest version of LR.  iMac and Canon 7D.  With my camera tethered directly to my computer, I start the Import Photos process.  When the thumbnails begin to load, it seems like if I have a large amount of photos to import (from 8GB card), it always leaves off the last hundred or two (approximately).  They just don't show up.  I'll import what is visible, then go back and do another import immediately.  All the ones that have been imported show up as greyed out thumbnails, then the remaining images on card will be avavilable for Import.
Why is Lightroom not seeing all the images the first time??

    Yes it is.

I have a webpage which is trying to render more than 300 images, but IE is not rendering all the images. I have detailed the exact scenario below.
I have a aspx page with a asp:Panel. I'm adding new aspx pages to this panel,
    Image image = new Image();

  • Converting a document containing RGB images to CMYK (with a profile)

    Hi,
I am trying to use PDDocColorConvertPage to convert all RGB images in a PDF document to CMYK (with a color profile).
I can see the API is performing some changes to the PDF however it is not performing the conversion in the same way as Photoshop or Acrobat.

  • All my images in finder

I have a MacBook from 2008.  I originally had snow leopard and updated to mavericks.  In snow leopard when I wanted to save my pictures to an external hard drive I would go to all images on the side bar and could easily transfer the pictures.  Now that I have updated to Mavericks I can't find this option.  I tried to make a smart folder but when I search for images I know it did not show all the images that are in iPhoto library.  Does anybody know how to solve this

    hi tim1427,
Im not quite sure what you want to do. Move Photos you have in your iPhoto library on an external hard drive?
Anyway the following points may help your understanding:
In your home folder->pictures is a file that is called iPhoto Library. All Photos you import in iPhoto are stored in there. The only proper way to acces these pictures and move them to an external hard drive or the finder is by exporting them directly from within iPhoto. (Drag and Drop from the iPhoto to a Finder Window would also work)
Any other photos you can access in the Finder as .jpg or any other format are not in iPhoto.  If you see them also in iPhoto you have them double. (once in the file iPhoto Library and once in the Finder.) You may want to delete the ones in the finder then.
I hope based on this you can formulate your question new or describe what workflow you have in mind.
Just in case you are doing this for backup reasons, you could also just import all photos to iPhoto and just copy the iPhoto Library to your external hard drive. BUT, and this is important, as soon as iPhoto is not anymore on your Mac accessing these photos gets unpleasant. Therefore i would go for the export version. Then you can share and import your photos into other applications with ease. All from your backup drive.

  • Preflight profile not catching RBG colors

    Hi everyone,
    Mac OS 10.7, CS5 7.0.4
I created a preflight profile that includes the setting that should catch RGB colors (Colors>Color Spaces and Modes Not Allowed>RGB box is checked). The problem is that it doesn't flag colors that are in use but weren't added to the swatches. For example, if you get a color from an image using the eye dropper. It uses an RGB proxy and loads that color into the cursor but doesn't create a new swatch.
Is this expected behavior or a bug or an oversight? Any way around it? Our production team has PitStop, which caught the problem in the PDF but it would be good to catch these things prior to passing off the file.

I must second to OP, some printers do... The sense is: "place cmyk images only, work with cmyk colors natively, and you won't need any conversion on export."
But what will you do when preflight catches an RGB color—convert it to CMYK right?
It doesn't matter whether you take the time to look for RGB colors with preflight and then convert them in the ID layout or Photoshop, because the conversions you make on export or saving to postscript will be the same as the ones you make in the application. The printer would not know how you made the conversion.
Here I've made a frame filled with an out-of-gamut green (94|255|0), copied it and converted the color to CMYK (81|0|100|0) via the Color panel. If I export or print postscript to my document's CMYK profile, the 2 greens have the same CMYK value in the PDF:

  • Lightroom 5.5 is not cataloging all images in some folders

    Version:
    Lightroom 5.5 CC 2014
    System:
    Windows Pro 8.1 R2 64 bit
When I last updated my catalog in Lightroom, I discovered that in at least two folders, Lightroom did not catalog all of the images in the actual folder on my computer. Because of the number of images I have on disk, I don't know how prevalent this problem. I found two folders where only one image was cataloged. One folder had 12 images, the other had over 200 images.
All of the photos are the same format, both the single cataloged image and the uncatalogued images. The are Pentax RAW format (PEF). As far as I can tell, PEF images are cataloged fine in folders I've checked.
    Solutions tried:
Reimporting the entire photo collection to capture "new" images. The missing images display in Windows Explorer and in the Lightroom Import window. However, the images say "This appears to be a duplicate of another image," which is not the case. If I right click, the "Import This" option is grayed out, as are the images themselves.
    I've tried syncing the folder.
I actually deleted my catalog and re-created a new catalog in a different folder with a different name. This time, the missing images in one of the folders imported, but not the other.
What's the work-around to force an image import?

Download the Lr 5.2RC from Adobelabs. There was a bug in exporting which is fixed in this release candidate.
