Premier Elements 7.0

I've installed Premier Elements 7.0.  No Problem.  When I connect my camera to my PC to do video capture it activates the old Premier Elements 4 program.  The Read Before Installing file says we can keep old versions loaded but not to run simultaneously.  I find no advantage in keeping the old version but I am concerned that by uninstalling it along with Premier Elements 1 that it will affect the operation of Premier Elements 7.  Can I safely remove 1 and 4 without damaging Premier Elements 7?

Technically, there is no such thing as an upgrade version of the software, Dr. Even if you bought it for the upgrade price, you got the whole program.
So just re-run the set-up without uninstalling. Once the installation starts up, you'll see the option to run a repair.

  • Unable to load project (prel file)  into Premier Elements 7.0

just installed 7.0 ..when attempting to load a project (slide show for play back on a DVD) created in Elements 3.0 .. get error that "The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements" .. I have no problem loading the same project in Elements 3.0. Also seems specific to this file, an other project create under 3.0 appears to load with out error. I  should point out that  the project that will not load was created in Elements 5.0 and exported over to Premier Element 3.0 to create a playable DVD .. the file that will load was created in Premier Elements 3.0 (not sure if that is significant but more information is better then less) .. any thoughts / suggestions would be appreciated ..thanks

"The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements"
Unfortunately, the last part of that error says it all. Something is used, that no longer is in PE7, or has been changed significantly. Could be an Effect, a Transition (though those usually just disappear, and the file still Imports - PrPro gives a warning, and tells you which Transition is missing, and the TimeCode of where it was used), or something else.
If you have PE3, you can do two things:
1.) finish the edit there and Export to your delivery format
2.) Export a DV-AVI file and bring THAT into PE7
Neither is quite as good as being able to Import the .PREL and work on it in PE7, but those are about the only choices that I see. Now, if you have any clue as to what the Effect (whatever) is, that's causing the problem, you *might* be able to open a COPY of the .PREL in WordPad, search for that Effect, eliminate reference to it, and then Save as a .PREL. That might be a lot of work, and might well destroy that COPY of the file - that's why you work on a COPY.

  • Downloaded Premier Elements 9 It does not have SartSound in the Audio Tools Button. How can I get it

Having pruchased Premier Elements vis download, I obviously have not installations disc. After working on a project, I went into audio tools to open SmartSound Quicks. It was not included in the tools menu. I know you can add it to tools if you purchased Pre 9 retail and have the disc. Is this an error in that it is not included in the download version? If not, why was not downloaded and how can I get it? Is there a plugin available. Smart sound shows one I believe for Pre pro. Will that work for Pre 9?

I hope what I am telling you responds to what you would like to do.
As one of the respondents mentioned, you can't use AirPlay.  What was not mentioned is you can use HomeSharing.
You need to activate Home Sharing on both your computer's iTunes/Prefs/Sharing and in Settings/iPod in the iPad.  Using the iPod app, select your computer's library and initiate any requests (music) on the iPad.
Personally I believe Airsharing and Homesharing are some of the worst work I've seen come out of Apple.  Its inconsistent between devices and is needlessly complicated by having two different capabilities essentially doing the same thing.  Throw in the Remote app and you now have three capabilities essentially doing the same thing with different interfaces and inconsistent functionality.

  • Can I download a DV tape to Premier Elements without a firewire connection?

I recently purchased a new HD camcorder as well as Premier Elements 10.  One of the tasks that I'd like to accomplish via Premier Elements is to download my old DV tapes to my hard drive, which the software seems to support.  The instruction manuals and video tuitorials mention that this transfer / capture must generally be done with a firewire connection (which my computer does not have).  However, my new HD camcorder downloads via a USB connection without a problem.  I tried to download from the DV camcorder using a USB connection and (sure enough) Premier Elements wouldn't recognize the old camcorder.  Does anyone know why is this a problem / what the compatibility issue is?  Is there a way to download the DV tapes to my hard drive without having to purchase and install a new firewire connection to my existing computer and buying a new firewire cord?
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

For Capture of tape in PrE, you will need FW. If your computer does not have FW, then you have a couple of choices:
    Add a FW (IEEE-1394) card
Add a FW connection to a laptop via either a PCMCIA, or ExpressCard

  • I downloaded some videos to Premier Elements 13 from external hard drive but now the external hard drive is damaged. I tried to open the videos on the organizer which it shows the video but with a yellow ? and says missing file. Is there anyway I can open

I downloaded some videos to Premier Elements 13 from an external hard drive but now the external hard drive is damaged. While setting up my new MAC the external hard drive was dropped and I have been told by an outside source they could not retrieve the files.  It had 4 years of photos and videos on it. I remembered that I had downloaded some of the videos from the external hard drive (before it was broke) to Adobe Organizer 13 when I installed the Adobe 13 on my MACOS X 10.9.5.  I tried to open the videos on the organizer which it shows the video but with a yellow ? and says missing file. Is there anyway I can open these videos?
Any input is greatly appreciated!! I am sick over losing the videos and had a little hope on Adobe Organizer until I was unable to open them.  I am thinking it is due to my external hard drive not being plugged in. I thought when I transferred from the external hard drive to Adobe 13 that it would be there without the external hard drive needing to be attached but maybe I did something wrong.
    Thanks again for any help!!!!

It had 4 years of photos and videos on it.
To what did your camera record those photos and videos - camera's internal memory, inserted memory card, other?
Any remote chance that the latter may still exist for you to use to download the camera files to your new external hard drive?

  • AVHCD my HD experience so far with Premier Elements 7

    Hi
I thought I would try and contribute to the ongoing discussion about HD video, and in particular the use of AVHCD media with Premiere Elements 7. I
wandered into this arena rather than planning my way in but luckily I am having a good time. I hope my experiences may be useful to others here.
My aim is to shoot and edit video at the best quality possible but remaining comfortably within the current capability of my PC and its
    operating system.
I am no editing expert by any means but I have been editing my home movies for several years using various bits of software and operating systems
    along the way.
I am brand new to the world of High Definition and I currently intend to playback my movies on a Sony PS3 and a high definition tv. I archive my
finished movies on hard disk rather than burn to DVD. I dont yet have a blueray burner.

    Current workflow
    ================
I have only been experimenting for a couple of days but this is my current
    workflow.
I shoot my video in HD HQ.
I use the supplied Sony software to get the files into my PC
I convert those files into MPEG2HD using Free AVCHD Converter V1.0 as recommended on this site.
I leave the output format as standard except I raise the Video bitrate to 2500 Kbps as recommended in other posts on here.
I use the HDV 720p 25 preset for my project
I output as a PC file, MPEG HD720p
Using these settings I have a pleasant editing experience and the finished product is certainly much better than using standard definition. When I add my clips to the timeline I don't get the red bar across the top of them unless I add an effect. This saves rendering time and provides for smooth playback within Premiere Elements 7 as I check my edits.
Now, I have no idea if what I am doing is correct and I would dearly love to hear suggestions for how I can improve things further. The good news for me however is that I can use my new camera without having to upgrade my PC.
    Regards
    Ken

    Ken,
Welcome to the forum, and thank you for taking the time to post your workflow.
While the CPU could be beefier, it's comforting to see that your I/O sub-system (your HDD's) are set up better than 99% of the people out there, for editing. Way to go! BTW, if your CPU is doing it for you, I'd not worry about it, until you build your next machine. You are getting more out of yours, than many with Quad-core chips, and some with dual-Quads. That is a testament to a strong machine and a clean one too.
With your sucess, I feel that your workflow might well be a useful baseline for others.
    Thanks for posting,

  • AVI files loaded in Premier Elements 7 only show audio and not video.

I am a new user of Premier Elements 7 and am having problems getting the video into a new project I set up. I have 6 AVI v1.0 clips that play both audio and video in Windows 7, but when I set up a project and import them, I only get the audio side and not the video side. I can drag the audio to the timeline and can play the audio just fine. But it is missing the video. I must be doing something wrong, but am new enough that I don't know where to turn.
I have been reading the forums and taking tutorials, so I think I know the steps to import a video into PRE7. I've tried many things, but still no video. I downloaded GSpot and found that my files have video H264 (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC) and audio oxooo2 (ADPCM). The codecs seem to be installed on my Windows 7 computer.
Can someone point me in the right direction on what to do next. I'm a computer professional with 50 years of experience, so am no dummy, but am new to PRE7. Thanks in advance.

I found a mini-CD that came with the product. When I loaded it on my computer, one of the options was to install a device driver. I did this and now I can see the video in PRE7. So, I think this solves my problem.
I applaud the mfgr. of the Insignia. This is the way that it should be with ALL cameras, that do not use a miniDV tape, or precise CODEC, that is mainstream. All too often, the mfgrs. tweak an existing CODEC, and just leave the customer hanging, trying to find a way to edit the footage. A couple of major mfgrs. come immediately to my mind.
Others, who use CODEC's, like Xvid, that is so heavily compressed, that even converting it to an editable format/CODEC results in such horrible footage, that no one would ever be satisfied with the finished product.
    <Soapbox Mode Off>
Glad that you are now up and editing. For my education, what does G-Spot say about the CODEC in the Insignia footage? At least next time that I encounter it, I can say - "look in the box, and install the driver to get the CODEC."
    Thanks for reporting,

  • Problems with Premier Elements 7 Opening Earlier Projects

I have used Premier Elements 3 to create many 15-60 minute videos, most built from Photoshop Elements slide shows imported into Premier, and most with DVD output designed. After installing Version 7, I attempted to open these projects which it is supposed to do. A minority will open fine. The balance either cause the error "The project cannot be loaded - it may be damaged or contain outdated elements".
Does anyone else have these types of problems? I have tried all of the various methods outlined in the KB, like deleting preferences, etc., removing and re-installing, booting with nothing else loaded, etc. Nothing has any impact. I have talked to Adobe support and they are clueless and just walk me through the usual install/uninstall, etc. can anyone help? I have an enormous investment in time in these 3.0 videos and I bought Version 7 to upgrade and now it does not work! Thanks.

    Just a thought....
How are you opening the Premiere Elements 3 project in Premiere Elements 7?
According to the Adobe party line Premiere Elements 7 PDF, you can open projects created in earlier versions of Premiere Elements in Premiere Elements 7, but you cannot open projects created in Premiere Elements 7 in earlier versions.
Do you have Premiere Elements 3 and 7 on the same computer at this time?
The Adobe suggestions is, if problems in this regard and instead of right clicking the project file in its saved location, then:
    1. open the project from with Premiere Elements 7
    or
    2. right click the project file in its saved location and name Premiere Elements 7 as the Open With program
Check it out to see if I have interpreted this info correctly

  • Premier Elements 7 - confusion over mixing video formats

    Hi
I have been using a DV camcorder (SD quality) for some time, originally recording in 4:3 format, and more recently in 16:9 format (as we bought a wide screen telly).
I have just treated myself to a new AVCHD Panasonic video recorder recording High Definition footage in 1080 16:9 PAL format onto an SD memory card.
I wanted to take all this footage and put it on my computer to edit it together and start making some films to keep for the future - on DVD for now, and at some point on Blue Ray. To this end I have just purchased Adobe Premier Element 7.0, with Photoshop Elements 7.0 bundled together.
My confusion is that it appears I can only use one format in a "project" as I need to define the parameters for the "project" in terms of SD vs HD and 4:3 vs 16:9. I was hoping to be able to store all of my footage of various quality definitions and screen ratils into a "library" (which I see is called "Organiser" in Adobe terms) on the hard disk, and then pick and choose from the "library" what to put into each "film project" as I make them, mixing formats as I wish. I realise that in this way, the output would itself switch from 3:4 to 16:9 etc on accasions as I switch scene to use a different format, and so may not appear to be the smoothest edit.... but I thought that would be my decision to do if I wanted it. Instead it appears I cannot mix a few minutes if 4:3 SD footage of my son as a baby, with more recent 16:9 1080 HD footage of him as a boy - which is a real shame as it is what I wanted to do....
Have I misunderstood, or am I right in thinking I am limited in this way?
Why can I mix still photos of any format with video , but not mix different formats of PAL video?
    Many thanks

    Thanks Paul
I have been having go, as you suggest, and as you said, I cannot edit my AVCHD footage in Scene mode as it has 5.1 audio (which I cannot change on the videocam) This is very disappointing as I really wanted the simplicity of the scene editing rather than timeline.... This is compounded by the fact that timeline editing seems even more complicated than normal as each new AVCHD clip I add is placed onto a different video track (not all on track 4 as you thought)- so it is real mess to work out on my screen.... Is this a bug, the way PRE treats 5.1 tracks - or is it just oversight and poor design? Do you think it might be addressed by Adobe?
Anyhow, thanks for explaining what is going on, as without your warning, I would have assumed that the PRE 7 sceneline feature was broken - you would have thought there would be some warning / documentation from Adobe about this, as effectively, a big feature is now unavailable to me as an AVCHD user - and the product claims to be compatible with AVCHD!
Would you be able to advise on a couple more of my "newbie" file format questions?
How do the settings work between setting the initial PROJECT format, and then choosing the various OUTPUT (sharing) settings. For example, if I want to edit a project using AVCHD clips only, and output it to DVD quality to watch on a PC or burn to DVD disk, do I get the same thing if I set the project setting to PAL AVCHD High Def 1080 5.1 and then the share setting to DVD quality output, as I would if I set the project settings to DV 48hz and the share setting to DVD quality output?
My ideal would be to retain the High Definition of the footage through the editing process and then be able to output to DVD quality now, but to be able to come back to the finished edited project in the future and choose to output it to Blueray when I have upgraded my TV and bought a blueray player. i.e. I am trying to make my filming and edited projects a bit futureproof....
Finally, I am just not up enough on all the different format lingos (Mpeg1, MPeg2, H.116 etc) to know what I should be choosing from the list for:
    1) outputting edited footage to burn onto a DVD to be used on a DVD player
    2) outputting edited footage to save onto a PC to view in the best possible quality on a PC
    Do you know?
    Many thanks

I recently had some 8mm film transferred to DVD. I am trying to edit the film clips using Premier Elements 4.0. so I can reburn the films on a single BluRay disc. Some of the film clips copy into the project but others don't. I tried copying the VOB filed onto my hard drive and then changing the file extensions on the VOB files to MPEG but this was no help. What do you have now.....
What computer operating system do you have?
We can go into the finer points of source and your intentions, but for now it would appear that you are using SD 4:3 source media to get to a HD 16:9 result. Lots to discuss in this regard.
What was given to you on the DVD disc? DVD-VIDEO 4:3 or something else?
If DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, you should expect to find on the disc a folder named VIDEO_TS. That is your target for your video files.
If you were given a DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, then all you want from it are the video files, specifically
VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, and so on through that series until possibly getting to
VTS_02_1.VOB, and so on. How many files you have beyond the VTS_01_1.VOB file will depend on the size of the DVD-VIDEO.
Does the above scenario apply to you?
The alternative might be someone giving a DVD disc (data disc) which contains just the VTS files mentioned which were copied from
the VIDEO_TS Folder. So, you do not get the whole VIDEO_TS Folder, just the essential video files. Does this scenario apply to you.
I see no need to replace your Premiere Elements 4 with a later version unless you have a huge project and need a later version that will be a 64 bit application running specifically on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer.
Consider...Premiere Elements 4 and if you have DVD-VIDEO on DVD....
    1. Place the DVD disc in the burner tray
    2. Open Premiere Elements 4 and set the project preset for NTSC DV Standard (assuming you are working in a NTSC setup)
    3. Go to
    Get Media
"DVD, Digital Camera, Mobile Phone, Hard Drive Camcorder, Card Reader"
"Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader" and its Advanced dialog.
Set the Source in the latter dialog for the drive which has your DVD disc inserted in its tray
You should see your VTS_01_1.VOB thumbnail in the "Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader" Advanced dialog.
With this VOB selected, click on Get Media to get the file from there into the project.
    Should work fine.
Complications may be involved if the people who processed your footage gave you something other what is described above.
Please review and consider, and then we can plan our project strategy accordingly.
    Thank you.

  • Premier elements 7.0 installs but won't run, please assist

I have tried many times to install Premier Elements 7.0 on my computer. I have a very large hard drive and large ram capacity. It is able to run Premier elements 4.0 very well, with no problems. To try to resolve the problem, I uninstalled all Adobe Premier Elements components, cleaned the registry, removed almost all programs from the hard drive in order to make sure there was ample room. I checked and my resources say I have plenty of capibility to run the program. I checked for viruses.
I am able to install 7.0 and load the program. I am almost able to open a project (I have tried several projects of various sizes) and every time, just as it is completed loading the project, there is an error message and the program shuts down.
The error says there is a problem with module: ad2mpgvdec.dll and then it tries to send a report to windows online. I ran the program compatibility program with no luck. I am out of ideas. I can't understand how the older versions of Elements run just fine but 7.0 will not.
Any thoughts? I would love to use this program for editing a Christmas video for my daughter.
One other thing, the compatibility wizard says that settings for Premier Elements 7.0 are: DisableNXShowUI Not sure what that means and have been unable to google it. Other than that, it gives me no hint as to how to fix the problem.

Are you saying that the program crashes as soon as you try to start a project -- not when you try to import video into it? This is a very important distinction.
You also say you tried to run the program in compatibility mode? Does this mean you're running it on a less-than-preferred operating system?
Meantime, a Google search on that driver turns up some pretty strange things. Lots of references to Torrent downloads and spyware. Have you run a program like Spybot Search & Destroy lately? It might be a good idea.
Otherwise, if all else fails, this might be worth a call to Adobe Tech Support. There's obviously some sort of conflict going on somewhere, and they'll be able to walk you through the necessary troubleshooting.

  • Error Message when trying to open prodect in Premier Elements 10

I created a slideshow on Premier Elements 10, and saved it.  When I try to open the project I get an error message
"This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed"  Help please.

What steps are you taking to open it? It sounds like you may be trying to import the project file into your project.
To open a .prel file, go to the File menu and select Open.
Also, when creating a slideshow, be sure to downsize your photos to no larger than 1000x750 pixels in size, as I say in my books! This will save you a lot of struggles later.

  • Can I add a Tivo codec to Premier Elements?

I have Premier Elements 11, on a Windows 7 (64 bit)  machine. I also have Tivo Roamio, with their transfer software which will copy shows from the Tivo box onto my computer hard drive. I have recorded some movies I want to share with my kids when they come home from college this summer (one-time viewing, strictly private, in-home only). The video transfers show up as FILENAME.Tivo files; if I want, I can convert those into mpg files, via software by Pavtube. However, some shows will not convert completely; and, if I could avoid a time-consuming (and possibly lossy; not sure about that) conversion step, that would be nice.
So, the question becomes, can I install some codec into Premier Elements, that will allow it to recognize and handle filename.Tivo files?
If anyone can tell me where to find that kind of codec, and give me the basics of a step-by-step installation, to get the codec into a location where the Premier software can find and use it, that would be very appreciated.

    Another quick update -
I've been trying the ctivo software, and have not seen any advantages over the combination of "Tivo Desktop" to transfer the files, followed by Pavtube to convert them into other formats that Premier can handle. Both software types seem to fail on the exact same files, and the 12 minute mark is a common, almost thematic failure point. Neither one provides any indication (at least, none that I can find) of why, and/or what went wrong, or whether I can do anything to fix it. Each time I have I tried one or more additional attempt, I have always gotten the same result.
ctivo provides a yellowish "Failed" color and message on its progress bar, with no other info.
Pavtube doesn't, and I have to check each converted file, to see if it's a good file. On occasion, the converted file size is only a small fraction of the expected number, and I'll know it's bad without checking further. More commonly, I have to check the final seconds of any file, to see if it still has a good picture. If any file conversion fails at some point, the entire screen shifts into static gobbledy-****, and I have never seen any converted file shift back to a good signal after a failure point like that.
I'm going to start looking into posts and threads at videohelp.com, to see if anyone there can help.
