Premiere Elements 12 installed sign in cycle welcome screen no launch

For the last two days I have been trying to install and run Adobe Premiere Elements 12.
Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1
Dell Precision T5600, on an Intel Xeon CPU E5-2609 @ 2.40 GHz
16 GB of RAM
64-bit operating system
NVIDIA Quadro 4000 graphics card
I selected the 64 bit version to install.  It launches the Install Wizard.  After several windows it asks for the serial number.  I enter the serial number and it completes the installation.  I restart my computer.
I launch the program and after a few moments the "welcome screen" pops up.  I select "new projects" under the video editor.  It then asks for me to "sign in" with my Adobe ID.  After a few seconds it seems to be verifying the serial number.  After sometime, nothing happens.  The program does not launch the video editor.  Instead, it goes back to the welcome window and continues the cycle over again.
No error messages.  It just continues in this loop.
After rebooting my computer and relaunching, it repeats this process, but it sometimes does not even return to the welcome window.  It just exits quietly to the desktop.  No error messages.  If I pull up the "task manager", I can see that the application is not running(therefore not listed) in the task manager.

Had lots of problems with Premiere Elements 12/12.1 and Sign In after an uninstall reinstall.
See if any of what worked for me works for you also.

I set the preferences in InDesign to NOT show the welcome screen upon launch, but it will NOT hold the preferences i choose. Anyone else have any other ideas? I am about to lose my mind... I hate you ADOBE!!!

that s just the problem, that is why my level of frustration is boiling over ... I have told InDesign over and over again "Do Not Show Again" but it will just not hold the settings. It might hold it for a day or so, but then suddenly there it is again on another launch. Very very annoying.

  • Premiere elements 12 organizer blocked by revel screen

I just installed Premiere Elements 12.  When I open the organizer, immediately a screen promoting Revel comes up, blocks organizer and there is no way I can find to close it.  Can anyone help?
    Thanks

Could you provide a screenshot of this Revel promotion that you are seeing when you open the Elements Organizer?
Are you using purchased or tryout Premiere Elements 12 and on what computer operating system?
What are you doing to initiate the promotion?
    a. You open the program to the Welcome Screen and select Elements Organizer and then the Revel pops up blocking the Organizer?
    b. Something else?
Let us start here and then decide what next.
    Thank you.

  • Stop installing Tiger before the Welcome screen appears

I would like to give my Mac away as a gift to a newbie and consider it nice to give him a Mac that feels like being delivered from the factory.
This means: I would like him to see the welcome screen first (the one where all the Welcomes in hundred different languages appear immediately after you power up your Mac for the first time ever).
Unfortunately, after following the usual process of starting from recovery disk, erasing the Hard Drive and installing the OS it starts this screen automatically. I do not see a way to stop it or make sure that it appears again upon next power up of the Mac. On the contrary: You must enter your personal settings immediately.
I read something about this years ago and think I remember it was a UNIX-Code which had to be entered. But even if so: Where can I enter? I cannot open Terminal in this stage?

    @Steve:
The good news: I do not have to be ashamed of myself.
The bad news: No, you cannot go up to Setup Assistent menu bar.
After the installing process is finished the Mac runs into the described "Welcome" windows and asks for registration and setup of an administrator account. There is absolutely nothing you can do to avoid that. There is no menu bar, no button, no nothing.
All the good advices here and elsewhere are talking of entering commands or starting in single-user mode or other, but you simply cannot go into anything. Even the keyboard shortcuts (cmd-alt-esc, etc.) do not work.
I have found a workaround which I really hesitated to use but it obviously works: During the floating around of the "Welcome" logos I pushed the On-Off switch for 8 seconds thereby killing the Mac. After a restart it starts exactly with the "Welcome" window and asks for registration. But this is really not a nice way to treat a Mac.
    Thank you anyway.

  • Premiere Elements Install Issue

From the Photoshop and Premiere Elements 9 package have successfully installed photoshop but Premiere is proving difficult.
It skips the 'serial number' step and goes straight to 'options' and then cancels the install. When I click 'help' it diverts me to a help page about installing a serial number (which I have) but doesn't allow me to enter it.
    Tips please!
    Thanks

Install in trial mode, then use Help --> Activate.

  • Premiere Elements 11 won't launch at all.

I installed Premiere Elements 11 from a disk that also has Photoshop Elements. Photoshop Elements launches successfully. When I try to launch PE 11, either from the Start menu or the desktop icon, I get the round "swirl" for a moment, then it disappears and nothing happens. I also right-clicked and selected the option to run as administrator. I got the User Account Control message and I clicked OK.
I have Windows 7 Home Premium on my HP desktop. I tried to update the driver (ATI Radeon HD 5450) but it said I have the latest driver.
I appreciate any suggestions or help.

Have you answered the classical question yet, that is, do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 11 Windows 7 64 bit? And, did you right click the Premiere Elements 11 desktop icon and selected Run As Administrator.
What about deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file? Have you been there and done that?

If deleting just the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file in that 11.0 Folder does not resolve the problem, then try deleting that whole 11.0 Folder.
In all of that, make sure that you are working with Folder Options Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives on so that you can see the complete path.
Have you checked your antivirus program to make sure that it is not involved in this issue?
Have you already gone down the road where you deactivate in Help Menu/Deactivate, close out of there, and uninstall (Control Panel) and reinstall?
Have you tried launching the program from Adobe Premiere Elements.exe file in the Program Files. The desktop icon goes to Adobe Premiere Elements 11.exe which opens the program to the Welcome Screen. The Adobe Premiere Elements.exe file bypasses the Welcome Screen.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 12 start up problem.

I just purchased and installed Adobe Premiere Elements 12.  I have a new pc with windows 8.1. Premiere required that I run the program as an administrator (???).  So I ran it as administrator and it starts up, but then immediately closes itself.

Thanks for the update on the issue details.
Bottom line: I am suspecting an Open With directive problem.
    Details.....
Please excuse the questions, but I do not want to take anything for granted
Checking the Creation of a New Project
    a. If you double click the desktop icon of Premiere Elements 12.1, does the program open to the Welcome Screen?
In the Welcome Screen can you then select Video Editor followed by New Project to open a new project?
    b. Can you open the program and a new project by double clicking on the Adobe Premiere Elements 12.exe or Adobe Premiere Elements.exe found
    Local Disk C
    Program Files
    Adobe
    12
and in the 12 Folder are these two files. The Adobe Premiere Elements 12.exe should open to the Welcome Screen and the Adobe Premiere Elements.exe opens bypassing the Welcome Screen.
Checking the Opening of a Saved/Closed Project
Now for your workaround...You right click a video file on the hard drive and select Open With and have the opportunity to select specifically Premiere Elements 12. It works. You have a new project, edited, and you save/close it. But, it is the re-opening of that saved/closed project.prel file that I suspect as being at the core of the problem.
so I double clicked the project file I had been working on and it said 'The project is not compatible with current version of Premiere Elements' (even though I had only just saved it from that version).
Where is this project.prel file that you are double clicking to re-open your saved/closed project? And, how do you get to it? What is its hard drive save location - Libraries/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Elements/12.0? If so, what happens if you right click the project prel there and select Open With, followed by Premiere Elements 12?
    Please review and consider.
Looking forward to your follow up.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Elements 11 stops on Startup

    Hi,
I just reinstalled my whole OS (Win 8.1) and so also reinstalled Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements 11.  I reinstalled because I added an additional Harddrive
When I try to run Premiere Elements I can see the welcome screen and select Organizer or Editor but then nothing happens....
I was able to run Photoshop without any problems and I installed both one after another. Plus, I was able to run the Organizer from PS and when I tried to open a video with Premiere Elements it said that to run the trial-version I would need to install the application manageer (I bought both programs, so it is not the trial...)
So I uninstalled PE and reinstalled, nothing changed. I also reinstalled the application manager, still nothing...
I also tried to run as a admin but didnt work.
    Any Ideas ?

    Ok, lets go throug this:
At this time are you still getting the trial version messages to buy? No it says that I am about to start the trial version and the app manger is needed
I have Premiere Elements 11 installed on Windows 8.1 64 bit, and it is running well, so I know first hand that version 11 works in that computer operating system. I also had Win 8.1 installed before, so that shouldn be the problem, I know.
Please take a look at the following Adobe document that is referenced lately even though Premiere Elements is not specifically mentioned in the title
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-i ssues.html
By the way, how did you install the program, from purchased installation disc or purchased installation files from an online download (from Adobe?)? From disc
Have you gone through the basic drill
    a. Latest version of QuickTime installed on computer with Premiere Elements , Yes
    b. Running program Run As Administrator and from a User Account with Administrative Privileges, Yes
    c. Latest version of video card/graphics card driver according to the manufacturer of the video card/graphics card. Yes
    d. ccleaner run through, regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts , Just did it, didnt help.
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
I even installed it with deactivated bitdefender but it also didnt help. And since Photoshop is working I assume that it should not be the problem.

  • Display the Welcome screen when Photoshop CC starts up?

I have researched and found lots of incidences where people want to keep the Welcome screen from displaying but I am want it to display and it will not.
The checkbox under Edit>Preferences>General that says "Do Not Show Welcome Screen on Launch" is unchecked. I have tried checking that box saving, then unchecking saving again and restarting Photoshop. I have tried uninstalling Photoshop twice, once saving my preferences, the second time discarding my preferences and re-installing. Still no Welcome screen at launch. I have read that there is an option under Help>Welcome... to reopen the Welcome screen. I do not see that option and believe that is on the Mac only.
By the way the Welcome screen opens/works perfectly in Illustrator CC 2014.
I am running a Windows 7 PC with the latest version of Photoshop CC 2014.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

I believe you have an installation problem.  Others have had problems  with the Welcome Screen and I had a problem after the 15.2.2 update.  Others were not able to Play the video tutorials from the welcome window.  Photoshop seems to use CEPHtmlEngine.exe to display the Welcome screen.  The CC 2014.2.2 update installed on my machine without a problem.  CC 2014 worked and I had turned off the welcome screen.  However I did not have the new Photoshop CC 2014 preference Do not show Welcome Screen on launch and when I tried to use menu Help>Welcome I received a popup error stating Photoshop could not start the plug-in because it was not signed.  The way I was able to fix this problem was to download the direct CC 2014 installer and install CC 2014 on top of the CC 2014 currently insall.  CC 2014 installed and was installed activated and after I used menu Help>Update  to get CC 2014 up to CC 2014.2.2 all worked my Add-ons and preferences were still there.  However if I start CC 2014 and immediately try to open the Welcome screen I will get the pop-up your getting Welcome Dialog not installed. But when I click OK and try menu Help>Welcome a second time it works.  The new Preference Do not show Welcome Scree on launch is there and I can set it there or from the welcome screen option.

  • If Premiere Elements 8 does not properly exit or does not restart, try this

Pending a fix or advice from Adobe, I've written a tiny program to help with problems of Premiere Elements 8 not shutting down properly.
"PE8 Runner" is a small utility which...
    - Asks you whether you want to run Premiere Elements 8.0 with or without the welcome screen
    - Checks after you close the program whether it really has closed, or whether its process is still running
    - Asks you whether you want to terminate the unclosed process (so you don't have to use Windows Task Manager to do it).
    INSTALLATION
None.  You can run PE8 Runner.exe from anywhere on your PC.  But it assumes you have Premiere Elements installed
in the default location (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0)
    USE
    Run PE8 Runner.
Answer yes or no to the question about using the welcome screen.
(If you choose not to use the welcome screen you will go straight to the program
and then you must open or create a project using the normal menu).
Use Premiere Elements 8 as normal.
After you close Premiere Elements 8, about 10 or 20 seconds afterwards
you may see a window pop up telling you that the Premiere Elements process
is still running (and using your PC's resources), and asking you if you want
    to terminate the process.
Unless you are in fact still using the program, answer "yes".
    LIABILITY
The author (me) has developed and tested the program on a virus-protected system
using Windows XP SP3.  Every precaution has been taken to ensure that
it is reliable, but it's up to you to choose whether to use it or not, and the author
accepts no responsibility for the outcome.
Please test it on an unimportant project before using it on something real.
I have not been able to test it on other versions of Windows and would be interested in any reports.
Download link http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/22/1451533/PE8%20Runner.zip - it's a small download.  Source code is included.

I really can not understand their logic.  It is showing in Task Manager because the process (Adobe's exe) is still running and using the CPU.  I know this because it causes a slowdown on my system as well.  They are either assuming that Task Manager is reporting a ghost so it is an OS system, or they are claiming that they are making a call to a Microsoft function in a redistributable .dll or a function in a compile time library written by Microsoft, and that function is not operating as specified by Microsoft.
I know that it isn't a ghost report; the process is running.  If it is a failure in a .dll or library, Adobe will still have to issue an update to us after reporting it to Microsoft and MS putting out a developer's update. We can not report it to Microsoft because we do not know what functions they are calling.
It really sounds like their application is not distributing the exit call to all of its processes.  Without a design map and the code, it is all conjecture and I really shouldn't be guessing at what I really don't know.
Based on how many folks all see this, I can't imagine how this slipped through testing.  Oh well, it did and most organizations have one slip through every now and then.  The real important thing is how Adobe responds to the discovery.  I personally would be happier with a "We have been notified of this issue and our developers are working to recreate it and then correct any problems we identify."  It sounds like tech support has been outsourced and is too far removed from the situation to really respond with anything more than deflection. I have run into this with Digital River and their overseas call center.  They could answer by the script, but they really could not get to the folks who could provide answers or solutions. This kind of support is what turned me away from a large scale installation of Adobe consumer applications.  I have found better stability and support with the professional line of products.
I am looking forward to fix for this and any other issues.  PE is fun to play with.

  • Welcome screen never comes up when starting Pre 12

At first it did but then stopped. I trashed the Prefs and no help here. I uninstalled and did a clean install and still no Welcome screen? Yes I can select it from the Help menu and tell it to start with e Welcome but it still does not appear. Anyone have a clue?

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on?
First go from the 12 to 12.1 Update (See Help Menu/Update).
Assuming that you are running your program on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit and that the program was installed to the default Local Disc C location
    Go to
    Local Disk C
    Program Files
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements 12
and in the Premiere Elements 12 Folder are:
    Adobe Premiere Elements 12.exe
    and
    Adobe Premiere Elements.exe
Double click the Adobe Premiere Elements 12.exe file. Does the program open to its Welcome Screen?
You say that you are instructing the Welcome screen to open with Welcome screen by going to settings and selecting Welcome
Screen, followed by Done. Are you hitting Done as your final action there before you close out of the program and reopen it?
If so, if you cannot set for Welcome Screen, can you set for Organizer or Video Editor with the Welcome Screen settings?
    More later.
Looking forward to your follow up.
    Thank you.

  • Why won't Premiere Elements 8 launch on windows 7?

I have installed photoshop and premiere elements 8 onto my new computer from the original disks that I purchased a few years ago.  Photoshop launches fine.  Element, however, goes into the welcome screen and all looks well...that is until I try to launch 'New Project' or even 'Organize' or 'Open Project'..I click the icon, it seems busy for about 20 seconds, then simply goes back to the welcome screen.  The program will not open..period!.. I have made sure the video driver is up to date, that Quick Time is up to date, I installed the update from the Adobe website to 8.1, even tried reinstalling the program..still nothing.. My kids rock band is coming out tonight to start their music video, and I am not ready to rock n roll over here...HELP!!!  ANY SUGGESTIONS?........

    Welcome to the forum.
This ARTICLE offers a checklist of things to do, to get PrE to run most smoothly, then goes into several links on tuning up one's computer and their OS, and finally has links on troubleshooting, which rather work up in "degree of difficulty."
Also, you state that your audio and video drivers are up to date. Did you check on the mfgr's. Web sites, and compare their latest drivers with those that you have installed? If not, that would be my very first step. If one relies on Windows, or any utility to tell if they have the latest drivers, they will likely be at least 6 mos. out of date. Same with a new computer - the drivers will likely be 6 mos, or more, out of date. One needs to go to each mfgr's. Web site and check.
Also, if there are Audio editing programs on the computer, see this ARTICLE for some possibilities.
Good luck, and if nothing is helpful, then please list the full specs. of your computer.

I would like to offers some suggestions for when there is a gap in the troubleshooting plan that you and SG are engaged in.
    At that time, please consider:
    1. Are you working from the 8.0.1 Update of Premiere Elements 8 Windows? If not, please do so.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4653
    2. Work with the automatic Background Rendering and AutoAnalyzer Off. Check to make sure that they are Off. For Automatic Background
Rendering option, see Edit Menu/Preferences/General. For the AutoAnalzyer options, go to the Elements Organizer accessed from the Premiere Elements workflow, and there select Edit Menu/Preferences/AutoAnalzyer Options and shut them all Off if they are not Off already. If you cannot get into the Elements Organizer that way, put that action on hold for now.
    3. Close the program. Go to
    Local Disc C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Elements Organizer
    8.0
    Organizer
and in the Organizer folder change the name of the psa.prf file to psa.prfOLD and close out of there and try to open the program and the Elements Organizer.
Make sure that your computer is set for Folder Options Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drive active so that you can see the path described.
    4. Assuming that you can open Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 to the Welcome Screen even if you cannot open the Elements Organizer, go to the Welcome Screen
    a. hold down the Ctrl+Alt+Shift (altogether) as you click on hold (about 15 seconds) that click on the Organizer tab in the Welcome Screen. After those 15 seconds, release the click on the Organizer tab, but not the Ctrl+Alt+Shift, and look for the Catalog Manager dialog which should have popped up. It has a nasty habit of hidding behind the Welcome Screen, so, if necessary, move the Welcome Screen to one side to see if it is behind it.
    b. Create a new catalog using the Catalog Manager dialog.
Please review the above when you have finished other troubleshooting that you are currently pursuing.
We will be watching for your progress.
    Thanks.
