Premiere PRO CS4 " unexpectedly quit error" since loaded Sorenson squeeze 8.5 is there a bug fix
CS4 is old, and there will be no more updates, past the ones on the update site
All Adobe updates start here and select product, read to see if you need to install updates in number order, or if the updates are cumulative for the individual product http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
Ask Sorenson if 8.5 is even supposed to work with CS4

ICal gives "unexpectedly quit" error when loading
I submitted a topic question earlier because I had a problem with iCal not loading. I received an answer that worked for a little while. Now it does not work. On my original user, iCal will not load the calendars I was using. It always eventually times out with an "unexpectedly quit" error. I created a new user which loads all of the calendars perfectly each time. I copied the calendars to the original user, but iCal still will not load them. I tried reloading iCal from my Tiger disc. I have asked several very knowledgeable Mac consultants, but they are stumped. Anyone have a clue? I am tired of switching back and forth between users.
I am having the same issue and it just started in the last week. One day, iCal just wouldn't load. I thought it might have something to do with Syncing up with .Mac so I tried to restore to my previous sync. This didn't work either. Deleted plist files as well with no results. Has anyone tried reinstalling Mac OS X from their original discs? I'd hate to go this route because of all the updates I have installed. Here's a short section from the 'Submit Bug Report'.

Premiere Pro CS6 unexpectedly quits whilst opening windows
Oh wise ones!
I am having trouble with a premiere project, it is a simple logging project with about 100 video files that has worked previously on an edit share based raid system, but today has decided it will not open & will not re-link media files without crashing.
What version of PP? 6.0.0
Have you installed the recent updates? No (cannot update software without administrators permission atm)
What operating system? 10.8.4 OSX
What kind(s) of source footage? Apple Pro res LT .MOV files
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)? See below!
What were you doing when the problem occurred? trying to re-link media files that were offline due to changing computer locations on edit share.
Has this ever worked before? If this worked before by doesn't work now, what has changed on your computer in the intervening time? The project file used to work, however a collegue opened the file at a different location on the edit share, which for some reason has un-linked the media and not the file won't open.
Do you have QuickTime installed. (You should.) If so, what version? Yes, Version 10.1 (501.29)
What other software are you running? I have BRU PE running & proxymill and firefox.
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed? Video co-pilot & twixtor
Tell us about your computer hardware. Include CPU type and number of processor cores, amount of RAM installed, GPU, number of disk drives, and how any external drives are connected. Mac Pro 2008, 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 16 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM, ethernet network connected to edit share servers, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.4 (12E55), internal 9TB drive RAID.
Do you have any third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU)? edit share
I have attached the end of one of the crash logs and an error message. Could it be the DDR2 problem? At the moment I cannot restart as the LTO tape is backing up!

If not the latest, then download and install that. Note: there have been some issues reported with some of AMD/ATI's latest drivers (mostly in the PS CS6 forum), so it might be necessary to roll-back to an earlier video driver.
If that is not the cause, in your case, then you have at least ruled out one of the main causes.

Graphics Card issues with Premiere Pro CS4
Hey there,
I've placed the screenshot of my problem at the bottom of this post.
I'm having lots of issues with premiere pro CS4 and editing videos since I upgraded to Windows 7. I have some .mpg and .MP4 videos. Both of which play fine in WMP, VLC, WinAmp, VirtualDJ etc. But when I load them into PPRO CS4, as you can see in the screenshot they go green and pink. And they don't move. I.e you see one still image and hear only audio.
Now a fix I have found for this is to uninstall my graphics card. But this is no way an option to edit videos, as the resoultion goes from 1920 x 1080 to 1024 x 768.
I should add that I am runnig the following system:
Dell Vostro 1000 Latpop
Windows 7 Ultimate 32Bit
2.00Ghz AMD Sempron Processor
2GB RAM
ATI Radeon XPress 1150 Graphics card
I have the latest graphics card drivers installed. I am just wondering what the problem is, and a potential fix. Would be great to hear any advice,
Regards,
Adam.OK, here are some other things to think about:
ATI/AMD Catalyst seems to have an issue with one of the latest versions, maybe rollback to an earlier version.
Depending on your OS, check Hardware Acceleration (though this usually affect smoothness of playback) in Control Panel>System>Hardware>Advanced.
Check your OpenGL settings.
In Catalyst, turn OFF any GPU Acceleration
That's about all that I can think of for now, and those are shots in the dark.
Good luck,

Premiere Pro CS4 Installation Failed - Again!
Hi all
We are currently using an old version of Adobe Premiere which I would like to upgrade to the latest version. I want to show everyone in the company how good the latest version is and get them to pay for an upgrade/full version.
I then noticed a free trial download for Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and thought great idea. Well done Adobe I can now show everyone how good the latest CS4 version is.
5 days later I still can not get the damn thing to install and work!! :-(
In a desperate move I even tried it on a new Windows XP Pro SP3 - 3Gb RAM - Quad Core - 1Tb HD etc.. and when I try and install the Premiere windows 1.3Gb trial installation it eventually says at the end of the installation process (which takes for ever) "Installation Failed - One or more required components of Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 failed to install correctly." and it shows the following error log:

Over the last 5 days I have looked through this forum site and tried every recommendation it suggests to fix the problem including:
1) Uninstalling / Re-installing serveral times the Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 which eventually comes up with the above error.
2) Turned off all Anti-Virus applications and disabled all running windows applications.
3) I have also tried the WinCS4Cleanupscript process
4) Manually deleted and removed the premiere folders
5) I even rang up adobes technical support line and they said use the forums to solve the problem. Cushy job they have...
None of the above fix the problem...
So here I am. Has anyone got any ideas how to make it run up in trial mode ?
Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated as I suspect im not the only one having this problem.Day 8 - OK I have finally fixed the problem. I got fed up and purchased the full Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 product and it installed and worked 1st time!!!
I must admit im very annoyed that the Trial version failed but the full product works. The 2 x Premiere Pro CS4 installation CDs went through the installation process without a hitch and I did not get any installation error messages at all.
So my no 1 question is why does the online Adobe Premiere CS4 Trial version fail to install but the full product can ?
For what its worth, here are my final observations from this whole saga:
1) The first thing I noticed on the Full Product CD Installation is it defaulted to and installed the "en_International" version and not the "en_US" language version. For some reason the online trial version defaulted to "en_US" language and I used this option during the trial installations. Maybe this language option upsets the installation process on my UK PC.
Now I have it working im not going to risk re-installing it all again. But if your a UK user and you encounter problems during the trial installation process then try selecting the "en_International" language option. You never know.
2) Another obvious observation is the trial version has numerous features removed and hacked out of it So did the Adobe engineer get carried away with the hacking process and also remove some important installation code and procedures.
After several days of trying to get the trial version to work there is obviously a problem with the trial installation process and it needs looking at. I must of installed and reinstalled it 15+ times and during this time it upset my Dreamweaver CS4 app so forcing me to re-install this application as well.
Please Adobe just give the online users the option of 2 x CD ISO Images to download and burn onto a CD as this could save other users the same frustrating time I have had and maybe give you more revenue. -

I read on the Internet that switching to "English (International)" might fix, but the choice is greyed out and preset to "English (US)". I don't know what else to try. I'd use my copy of CS5, but that requries 64 bit processor, and I only have 32 bit.If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, read A fix via Virtual XP

Problem loading premiere pro cs4
Hello everyone,
I've been trying to open premiere pro cs4 and everytime it gets to "Loading AAF.prm" it unexpectedly quits.I was able to open it before, but recently, I've been getting this problem. Has anyone encountered this problem? Do I have to uninstall the program and reinstall to fix the problem?
Please advice.
Thank you.Actually, partitions present themselves to the OS as physical HDD's, and the OS cannot understand why it's taking so long to get reads/writes. They are hold-overs from OS's many generations back. Other than some esoteric backup schemes, there is no reason to utilize them A program, like Partition Magic, will help rid your system of those.
I do agree that a minimum of 3 fast HDD's is the minimum for Video editing. More, properly allocated, will be better.
Now, with 6x HDD's, I have many Projects with a lot more Clips, and no issues.
Good luck,

Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 crashes on load with project
When I try to load my CS4 projects the application crashes with the error:
"Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project."
I have my hard drive partitioned: C drive for my OS; D drive for my data; and I also have an external hard drive which is H. I installed Adobe Premiere on my D drive and saved all the my project files and data on my external drive H. A couple weeks ago I got a virus and I wiped out my C drive. So, I reinstalled Windows XP. After reinstalling XP and getting my machine back up and running I removed Premiere Pro CS4 from my D drive and installed it on my C:drive. I connected my external drive to my computer and Windows assigned the drive letter F to my external. I launched my project file and it said it could not find my data and it crashed with the above message. I opened my project file in a text editor and I saw that file path was H:\... for all my data so I reassigned the drive back to H hoping that was the reason for the crash. Much to my chagrin it was not as I try opening the project file now and it finds all the files but it still crashes. I'm all out of ideas at this point. Is there a log file that I can look at to try to troubleshoot this any further? Has anyone seen this happen before? Should I reinstall Adobe Premiere Pro? I am under a time crunch here as I need to open this project and make some edits.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
-JeffJeff,
The Page File is MS Windows' "virtual memory." It gets activity, when physical RAM is not available. Especially with video editing, this happens a lot. It can be set via Control>Panel>System. Windows can either dynamically create and size the file, as is necessary, or it can be set to provide the necessary size statically - always the same, and is *usually* set to ~ 2.5x the physical RAM.
With one physical HDD, that is partitioned, you have about 4-5 operations going on at the same time, and your I/O system is basically telling the heads of your HDD to be in different places/platters at this same time. Unfortunately, this is impossible, and one gets system hangs, sluggish performance, crashes or worse.
There are several good threads on suggested HDD setups for NLE work on this forum. I'd step back a level, so you get all Premiere forums, and search for some of these articles. There are a lot of worthwhile suggestions for number, type, connection and configuration of HDD's.
Good luck,

Adobe premiere pro CS4 installation error
Hi guys so I have just Download adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and when the Installation comes Like, the Overall Progress something like that and This error appears like "Please Insert the Disc 1" -- ( It may be the exact text that I have encountered but still the same content) and I pressed ok but still it appear,
Though the disk is inside the CD drive
Steps I tried:
I tried to restart the PC and restart the installation but it still appears
They say when Installing unplug your Internet connection or disconnect from the Internet but still appears
i hope someone can help meI am confused... first you say you downloaded CS4 (which means to connect to an Internet server and download from there to your computer) and then you say you have a disc in the drive... which is it?
If you do have a disc, and you use Windows Explorer... does it read the disc contents?
I am not sure (I went from CS3 to CS5 and did not ever use CS4) but is that a DVD disc or a CD... and do you have a DVD drive?
More computer information would help

Premiere Pro CS5.5 Quit Unexpectedly. Mac 10.10.2.
Hey there,
My Mac just started popping up with the "Premiere Pro CS5.5 Quit Unexpectedly" box. Nothing has been done differently and the program has been working for years. Any help?
My Mac is a 2011 17" and currently has OSX Yosemite 10.10.2.Hi Rotorbound,
Nothing has been done differently and the program has been working for years.
You updated OS X and that's a pretty significant change to your system. Have you tried common troubleshooting techniques?
Try the following:
Choose Help > Sign Out. Restart Premiere Pro. Choose Help > Sign In
Update any GPU drivers
Trash preferences
Ensure Adobe folder preferences are set to read/write in all 3 locations.
Delete media cache
Delete preview files
Remove plug-ins
If you have AMD GPUs, make sure CUDA is not installed
Repair permissions
In Sequence Settings > Video Previews, change the codec to one that matches your footage
Disconnect any third party hardware
If you have a CUDA GPU, ensure that the Mercury Playback Engine is set to CUDA, not OpenCL
Disable App Nap
Reboot
Report back if anything here worked for you.
Thanks,

I had to replace my hard drive and so I had to re-install Premiere Pro CS4. I tried to do that with the files I had downloaded before, but the install failed and gave me the error message "The Installer Database is corrupt. Please contact Adobe Customer Service".
I assumed that the files I downloaded had become corrupt, so I logged on and re-downloaded the ADBEPPROCS4_LS7.7z and ADBEPPROCS4_LS7.exe files. I ran ADBEPPROCS4_LS7.exe and it also failed and gave me the same error message. I tried another download from a different page and got the same error again.
Can anyone suggest what I can do to get my program installed?Error "...Installer Database is Corrupt..." when you install Adobe Creative Suite 4 or point product

Error installing Premiere Pro CS4 trial version
Hi all,
i've just downloaded Premiere Pro CS4 for testing.
During installation the files were extracted and setup was starting. But after the system check the installer says that an error occured and that i have to look in the log file. So i'm not able to install the trial.
Any ideas?
It can't be a problem of the installer, i've downloaded the sources twice.

ThanksIf you have not done so, make sure that your Account is an Administrator. Turn off ALL Anti-virus, pop-up blockers and sypware programs.
As later Adobe installers rely heavily on Flash, I'd make sure to have the very latest Flash Player (free from Adobe).
If this fails to resolve the issue, you might try to install from Safe Mode. IIRC, PrPro will NOT allow for this, though PS still does. Still, you can test my memory here.
Good luck, and I'm sure others will have additional ideas for you,

Exporting from Premiere Pro CS4 using Media Encoder gets stop error
I am trying to export my timeline from Premiere Pro CS4, using the Adobe Media Encoder CS4 to export my timeline as an MPEG2 HDTV 1080 24, and it goes for about fifteen minutes then I get the blue screen and my computer restarts, telling me the program had a stop error. Is there a way to go around this step? Another method to get the mpeg2 without losing quality? Anything I can do?
Please offer any knowledge you have before I scream at my computer again.
Thank youas I know Adobe products are buggy no matter what hardware you have.
I am sorry, but my experience has been the absolute opposite of what you have heard, or experienced. I have used many, many Adobe programs for almost 2 decades (maybe even more than 2 decades?), and have never observed such. I do have to admit that over those many years, I have always had a "state of the art" computer, but have made plenty of $ using Adobe software. Even with my now aging workstation, things work great. Time to upgrade though.
When troubleshooting issues, they shake out like this:
1.) system
2.) Assets
3.) Project
4.) OE
5.) Bugs
This is after troubleshooting Adobe issues from almost the time that PS hit the PC, when they were only NNTP, in what, 1985?
Now, I am not saying that your issue IS hardware, but only that that is the most likely issue, given a BSOD. Also, system is the #1 cause of issues, so that is where I start.
Good luck,
Hunt
