Presets in CS6

How do I ensure custom presets will be available when I install CS6 upgrade? (Photoshop)

Chris,
i have figured it out.
somehow, during using various versions of photoshop, i now have aliases  of presets scattered around and photoshop wisely ignored these.
fault is my own. sorry to bother.
thanks, vince

  • Load, edit or delete PDF presets in CS6 InDesign not possible.

Load, edit or delete PDF presets in CS6 InDesign not possible, it says: The folder may be write protected.
How do I solve this problem? I also work with Adobe Acrobat Professional X.

    OK.
Lets back up a bit and take things step by step so we all know exactly what's going on, and what you've tried and haven't tried.
First, what version of Windows are you using? The use simple file sharing is the very last option on my system (XP Pro) if you open Explorer and then use Tools > Folder Options > and select the View tab. This is also the tab where you will need to make hidden and system files visible, and I strongly recommend showing extensions for known file types as well. As far as I know this option (not to use simple file sharing) is available in XP home, too.
Second, once you've taken care of the first part, please do a search using the search in Windows Explorer, for *.joboptions under all files and be sure to select more options to search hidden and system files. You may find these files in more than one location, but the bulk of them will be in \Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Adobe PDF\Settings (note that this is the same directory as the one in the tree called "shared documents" -- I have no idea why the name is displayed differently in the folder tree than in the path in the address bar). Right click on one of those and select "Open Containing Folder" option.
The folder should open in a new window. Click the go up one level button in the toolbar (looks like a folder with an upward arrow on it), then right-click the settings folder icon and select either Properties or Sharing and Security (both open the properties dialog) and click on the security tab.
At this point, in all probability, the allow options are all grayed out because they should be inherited from the parent object. On my system the only user listed is "everyone" and they have full control. If yours is different, please let us know, and we'll go from there. If it's the same we'll try something different.

  • I lost most of my codec presets in CS6, how do i fix this?

About a week elapsed between using CS6 and the last time i wanted to use it the codec presets were mostly gone.  How can i fix this?

The driver update didn't have any effect on premiere pro cs5.5 which i resorted to using instead of 6.
But it may on all that Mercury stuff, which I guess is the whole point, since OpenCL/ CUDA is also used for encoding. Check your prefs and revert to other modes.

  • Where are the Gradient color presets in CS6?

    Hi,
I've gone from CS4 to CS6 and when using the Gradient tool, there used to be a properties box that you could open with a whole list of preset color gradients to choose from, i used to use the 'Black - White' one all the time, which kinda blurred the edges, made a transparent gradient and allowed, for want of a better word, montages to be created easily, but now this function seems to have gone. Is it hiding somewhere that I don't know about? Or alternatively, can someone advise me on how to get the same effect that the Black White Preset used to give me?
    Thanks a lot
    Jules

Yeah, those gradients are gone in CS6. On the one hand, most of them were pretty cheesy; on the other hand, it's a bit surprising they took away those presets but still didn't offer users a simple way to save gradients.
One way that you can save gradients is as Styles. As an experiment, I actually did this one day for the classic Fireworks gradients. Once created, styles can be saved as a library, where you can call on them from within any FW document.
Another way to quickly create a black and white gradient is by setting the fill and/or stroke colors, which are the basis of gradients. You can reset the default fill and stroke colors within the Tools panel. However, this can be tricky, at times, depending on what objects are selected and what type of fill they already have; it can be easy to accidentally apply a stroke to an object this way. Alternatively, if Stroke is set to None, then setting Fill to Black will result in a black and white gradient when you switch to a gradient Fill type.

  • How do i migrate actions and presets to CS6?

Is there a way to migrate actions and presets from CS5.1 to CS6 yet?

I belive Chris is referring to this:

  • Lost my PDF Presets in CS6

I lost my PDF Presets (CS6) so when I try to save to a PDF format, the std presets are not there.  How do I reload them?  I previously created a custom preset when building a book for Create Space and that is the only preset there - & I have not used this since.  (Just background info).

Hi. Because the forum you originally posted in is for beginners trying to learn the basics of Photoshop, I moved your question to the Photoshop General Discussion forum.

  • Write File Name from Selected Preset? CS6

I'm batch exporting video in five preset versions from AME CS6, ie. _240base _480base _720main etc. Is it possible to automatically append the output file with the name of the selected preset? "examplesequence" would become "examplesequence_240base.m4v" etc. I would save a tremendous amount of time. Any direction would be much appreciated!

Unfortunately it is not possible. It has been already added Asa feature request.

  • I need to load export presets from CS6 to my Premiere CC.

The presets do not seem to exist anywhere on my Mac Mavericks anywhere.

It occurs to me that Shooter & I have been making the mistake of addressing your question exactly as asked rather than recommending a feature that should serve your purposes better. In other words, we're obsessing about getting in through a side door when there's a perfectly good front door.
    1) In AME CS6, select your custom presets in the Preset Browser.
    2) Preset>Export (or click the Preset Browser's Export Presets button)
    3) If CC happens to be on a different system, copy the exported presets there.
    4) In AME CC, Preset>Import (or Import Presets button)
    5) Browse to the exported preset(s), select them, and click Open.

  • Illustrator actions stopped remembering pdf preset in CS6

    Hi guys,
I used to have my actions set up so i could easily save PDFs with different pdf presets, depending what the work was for (print, magazine ad with bleed, newspaper ad without bleed etc).
Now when I try CS6 and set up these actions in Illustrator it seems like the action wont use the preset I set it up with, and just defaults to the last one used.
Is there something I'm missing or is this indeed a flaw in CS6?  Its pretty time-saving for me so it would be a big deal-breaker upgrading to CS6.
    thanks

I had pdf actions that saved them to my desktop in CS5. Imported them into CS6, they did not work so rerecorded them in CS6 and they work.

  • How do I install a .smp preset in CS6?

My client has provided a preset for importing Word styles into InDesign. They are using InDesign v10 and I am using CS6. The instructions I was given to install in Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version X/en_US/Word Import Presets don't exist on my system. Is there a CS6 workaround for this?

CS 6 is version 8, so look for that path as Version 8.0 instead of Version X. Also, I imagine they really said ~Library, which is your user library, and it's hidden. See Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 and later

  • Import previous presets from CS6 to CC

Setting up new Adobe CC, and too hastily clicked "no" when asked about importing settings from last version. How can I retroactively do this?

Thank you, PECourtejoie. Will this fix the problem I'm having when I open a file I created in Ps CS6 that now in CC doesn't include the color palette I had created? Just curious before I drop my project to jump into the background stuff. I appreciate it.

  • Presets Missing CS6

    Good day all,
Don't use the program too often but discovered today while installing Jarle's Presets that my Magic Bullet presets are missing.
Also when I close the Effects window and then reopen it the recently installed Jarle's Presets are missing as well.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks, in advance,
    John

I think this is about Adobe's presets... Missing Presets/Activation http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1050730?tstart=0 so I don't if it covers other vendor items

  • CS6 Three-Way CC not importing setting from CS5.5 Timelines or from Saved Presets from CS.5.5

    Hello,
I had created two presets for the CS5.5 Three Way Color Corrector that I use in almost every project for dealing with sun shadows and hightlights on talents's skin and they no longer work in CS6.  I've tried loading the old project/timeline/sequence into Premiere CS6 but the TWCC just acts like it is at default settings. No changes to the video at all.
I also had saved my two TWCC settings as presets (from CS5.5) to the hard drive to I would not loose them.  I tried reloading those presets into CS6 but same problem.. they do nothing now.   I guess no one checked to see that the new CS6 TWCC was backwards compatible with CS5.5.   Major problem when loading / converting cs5.5 timelines to update client's projects.   Adobe, please take a look at this and fix as soon as you can.  Thanks!  Wayland
    Version info:
CS6 Cloud (last update as of friday Sept. 28, 2012)
CS5.5 Master Collection (previous version - now uninstalled)
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

    Hi Jim,
I've spent the better part of the day trying to redo what I had before and frankly the new TWCC sucks!  The previous one was sooo much better.  I can't even get close to what I had before. Many of the controls show up when you select 'show' but have little or no effect on the real video.  I wish I could just delete the current one and replace it with the old one.  If I still had CS5.5 I'd try that.  Not happy at all.  I'll be up all night trying to catch up due to time wasted on this stupid redesign of the TWCC as I have a ton of work due tomorrow.
Thanks for the reply and Best Wishes,
    Wayland

  • CS5 to CS6 Preset issues for Mac.

I had CS5 and downloaded CS6 and now I need to get my presets into CS6 and I followed directions to export and import and migrate as well even drag and drop and only one pattern comes up from the 22mb folder file I had in CS5 that we exported? Any reasons why this would happen to to fix the issue as well??

Moving this discussion to the Photoshop General Discussion forum.  Auruora68 based off your inquiry I believe you are referring to Photoshop CS6 is this correct?

  • CS6 Presets, Plugins & Workspaces

Okay I give. How the heck do I migrate (import) my presets from CS6 to CC? When I first opened Photoshop, it asked me if I wanted to migrate my presets. Illustrator never asked and I can't find a way to do it. I also need to migrate/import my plugins and workspaces. Thanks for your help.

I'm having the same issue.  PS asked me if I wanted to migrate right as it started up.  Can't find anything for AI CC.
