Presets in PRE7

I have a JVC Everio GZ-HD30 which shoots in full HD.  I did not fully understand the presets and made the mistake of choosing the PAL widescreen preset under DV instead of the HD1080i preset.  I have only realised this way after finishing 3 DVDs of holiday footage.  I don't have an HD tv but plan to get one soon.  WIll I have lost HD by using the wrong preset?

Part I. Burning your Timeline to Blu-Ray Disc in Blu-Ray format.
For this you will need a Blu-Ray burner that Premiere Elements 7 recognizes and a Blu-Ray disc.
If you are going this route, forget about exporting your Timeline to .m2t with Share/Personal Computer/MPEG using preset H.264 1920 x 1080i30 or MPEG-2 1920 x 1080i30.
Instead, burn your Timeline to Blu-Ray format on a Blu-Ray disc using the Premiere Elements built in software. The route is Share/Disc/Blu-Ray where you select the preset of either H.264 1920 x 1080i30 or MPEG-2 1920 x 1080i30. Then with your disc in the Blu-ray burner tray, hit Burn. With this route, you could have applied menus to the project prior to heading over to the Share area.
Part 2. Obtaining your AVCHD on a DVD Disc in Blu-Ray format.
I thought that we had this all covered in the previous post where I referred you to details of Heinz and Gossamer and posted the link. But, let me focus in a little deeper on what I believe needs to be done to get your AVCHD on a DVD disc in BluRay format for viewing it on a BluRay player or any player that will support that disc type and video format.
There are several popular ways to get this done:
1. Heinz and Gossamer Route
You will need to download the free tsMuxer software and the free ImgBurn. A step by step is given for using the .m2t from Premiere Elements and getting to your AVCHD on a DVD disc in BluRay format.
http://www.isobuster.com/tips.php?tips_page=16
Try using the .m2t as is. If you have any issues with audio, then try renaming the file extension from .m2t to .ts. You do that by right clicking the .m2t file, select Rename from the drop down list, and rename JUST the file extension from .m2t to .ts.
If the page does not open directly to the specific instructions, find and click on where it says:
“Recreate a BD or Mini BD (DVD) from recovered HD video (*.m2ts) files Febr. 16, 2009”
2. Paul_LS Route
You will need to buy the Corel Ulead DVD Movie Factory Plus software with its HD Pack.
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Product/1173965700889
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Content/1190954650114
In the last link, there is a link for the HD Pack User Guide which gives step by step instructions.
3. Nero Burning ROM
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/burn_avchd_with_nero_burning_rom.cfm
This link, like the others mentioned above, tell you what you need and gives you step by step.
Now back to your question about what you have in your .mts file that you exported from your Premiere Elements Timeline. Concentrate on the settings that you went with in the export choice and dialog. Example:
If you exported your Timeline via Share/Personal Computer/MPEG
(1) with the preset H.264 1920 x 1080i30 , click on the Advance button to see the description which includes:
a. File Type: H.264 Blu-ray
b. Frame Size: 1920 x 1080
c. Video Codec = MainConcept H.264 Video
d. Audio Codec = Dolby Digital Stereo (program will not export as Dolby Digital 5.1 channel if that was the audio on the Timeline)
(2) with the preset MPEG-2 1920 x 1080i30, click on the Advance button to see the description which includes:
a. File Type: MPEG-2 Blu-ray
b. Frame Size: 1920 x 1080
c. Video Codec = Main Concept MPEG Video
d. Audio Codec = Dolby Digital Stereo (program will not export as Dolby Digital 5.1 channel if that was the audio on the Timeline).
So from your point of view, which one of the MPEG presets to select. Either one, BUT H.264 requires far more processing power/time than does the MPEG-2 one. So, for now, I would go with the Share/Personal Computer/MPEG with the preset there = MPEG-2 1920 x 1080i30 to generate your .m2t.
Now if you had a Blu-Ray burner, you could use Premiere Elements’ built in burn software to burn your Timeline directly to a Blu-ray disc in Blu-ray format via Share/Disc/Blu-ray. BUT, notice that the export presets there include names like H.264 1920 x 1080i30 or MPEG-2 1920 x 1080i30. However, in this dialog there is no Advance button to peak under to get further details. So, I am assuming that the video and audio codec specified in Share/Personal Computer/MPEG are the same.
When you go to buy that HD TV and associated player, be sure to check out the disc type is accepts and the format on that disc. For the purposes of your project, I suggest that you start with a DVD-R (4.7 GB/120 min) with a project that can be fitted with that capacity.

  • Pan & Zoom in PRE7

I have Photoshop Elements7 and Premiere 7 and I have a few basic questions.
I prefer the pan & zoom effects in PSE7 over the presets in PRE7 when I make DVD slide shows.
I don't like the black box effect surrounding the image when zooming in PRE7 so is it possible to duplicate the PSE7 effect in PRE7?
Is there any "ideal" image size when importing my images?  I understand the final image size would be 720 x 576  for a PAL system.
I note PRE7 manual states it can handle up to 4096 x 4096 pixels but I think that would use up an incredible amount of space on the DVD however as I understand it providing the files are in PSD format PRE7 will size them automatically to 720 x 576 for the PAL system.  To allow for upsizing in a zoom I would need to have the image sizes say 1200 x 800.
    Are my assumptions correct?
    Regards,
    Doug.

I don't know about your manual, but my books recommend you keep your images no larger than 1000x750 pixels in size. 4096x4096 would likely stop all but the most powerful computers right in their tracks -- and even if it did work, the program would likely choke during output to DVD.
So trust me. Keep it at 1000x750 or smaller.
There are a number of ways to do pans and zooms in Premiere Elements, so I'm not sure what you're comparing when you say pan & zoom effects vs. pan & zoom presets.
The presets are set up for various sizes of photos, as can be determined by the names of the preset For instance the 920x1280 Zoom In preset will work perfectly with a 920x1280 pixel photo. If you match the photo sizes with the preset you won't get a black box around the outside.
But the best way to get good, custom pans & zooms is to use keyframing.
I cover keyframing in my books -- and show you some advanced tricks with keyframing in my new "Cool Tricks & Hot Tips for Adobe Premiere Elements." I've also got a Steve's Tips article "Basic Keyframing PDF" you can download from the Muvipix.com site for free. I also cover it in my free "Basic Training with Premiere Elements" tutorials.
Finally, if you prefer to use presets, I've got a set of free presets made to fit perfectly with 1000x750 pixel presets. Instructions on how to use these presets are included with the download. You can download it here.
http://Muvipix.com, by the way, is a great resource for learning and mastering this program!

  • Opening PRE8 file in PRE7

Does anyone know if there is a way to save a PRE8 file as an older version.  I've had so much trouble with PRE8, that I'd like to go back to PRE7, and see if I can at least complete the DVD.
    Thanks,
    Shama

For backward compatibility, the best that one can do is to Export/Share from PrE 8, and then Import that resulting file into a PrE 7 Project, with the proper Preset.
    Good luck,

  • Presets in Premiere Elements 7

I have just recorded my first video on my Sony HDR-XR500V. I want to transfer my video from the camera to my computer using Pre 7. To open a project I must set the presets. My camera specs do not match the choices in Pre7's box i.e. my camera captures at AVCHD 1440x1080/60i. The choice is 1440x1080/30i. Does anyone know if I can choose that setting? Thanks, DH

    DH
If you are recording your AVCHD to the hard drive of your camcorder, some people use the software that came with the camcorder to transfer the video from the camcorder's hard drive to the computer's hard drive and then bring it into Premiere Elements  with Premiere Elements' Get Media/Files Folders.
Premiere Elements 7 does offer a Premiere Elements 7 route Get Media/AVCHD or other hard disk/memory camcorder and the Media Downloader. In the Media Downloader, there is a Get Media from: and a Select a Device. Sometimes the device is not recognized. If it is, then go with this route first.
Once you have your media on the Timeline and edited, you can go to Create Menus and then Share/Disc/Disc to create a DVD Video widescreen. But, remember that your project preset determined which set of DVD Menus would be available to you when you got to Create Menus in this project, namely HD menus. You will not be getting the standard or widescreen versions of the menus that would normally be associated with DVD-VIDEO standard or widescreen. If you were burning the Timeline to a BluRay disc where HD menus would be more appropriate, that would be another story.
But, if you want a DVD-VIDEO, Share/Disc/Disc (make the best of the menus) and select the burn preset for the widescreen (16:9) version of the DVD-VIDEO.
Remember that you started with AVCHD 1440 x 1080 (4:3) with HD Anamorphic which stretches the video 16:9 on display after encoding. In this situation you end up with 1920 x 1080. With the DVD-VIDEO product, you will end up with 720 x 480 with a 16:9 flag to stretch the video 16:9 on display after encoding.
Check it all out and see what works best for you. If you had a Blu-ray burner, Blu-Ray disc, and a Blu-Ray player, you could take full advantage of the high definition of with the Premiere Elements software. There are also methods for burning AVCHD in Blu-Ray format to a DVD disc. There you export your Premiere Elements 7 Timeline as a .m2t file and then use that file and other software to get your Blu-Ray format on the DVD for play back on many TVs and PS3.

  • PE7: Project Presets missing

I searched for previous threads on this topic and performed the recommended steps to fix it:
    1. Tried reinstall>restart.
    2. Tried uninstall>restart>cleanup>restart>install>restart
    3. Deleted pref file and forced PE7 to create a new one.
None of the above steps helped. The project presets are still missing when I try to create a new project. I am forced to stick with 'DV NTSC Standard 48khz'. Can someone help me with this? Maybe someone can upload their presets in a zipped file and tell me where I should unzip them in my PE7 install structure.

Premiere Elements 7 missing project settings...

Re: Premiere Elements 7 missing project settings...
See the last post on this.
    Hi all,
There is an even easier way to do this - avoiding the installation and all
that... Just follow the steps below:
    1) Download the Premiere Elements 7 trial version from adobe.com (or even
better - I have attached the file to this post)
    2) Run the extractor but cancel the install-process. Now all installation
files are extracted in a folder. In my case I extracted to "\desktop\Adobe
    Premiere Elements 7"
    3) Open the folder '\Adobe Premiere Elements 7\CoreTemplates' with in the
    folder you extracted to.
    4) Extract the file 'settings.zip' to a folder of your choice
    5) Now copy the folder (and subfolders) with the same language code of your
PRE7 installation (In my case I copied the 'en_US' folder) into the Adobe
program folder in a subfolder you name 'Settings'. (In my case running a
danish windows the path is 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements
    7.0\Settings'
When finish you shold have a folder called 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
    Premiere Elements 7.0\Settings\en_US' with subfolders..
And voila - settings is back in the startup window...

    Hope this clears things up.

  • Is there a way to create a renaming preset where the sequence starts at the number "0" zero?

What I am trying to achieve is the following:
Fro example, I am photographing a handbag and I need to rename the file using a barcode and a barcode scanner.
My sequence of images goes like this:
    Image 1: Tag shot
    Image 2: Front
    Image 3: Back
    Image 4: Inside bag
Let's say the barcode once scanned produces a code such as TRE8801AZT16-Z
Right now my current preset is "Custom Text_Image # (1)"
This results with the images being renamed as:
    TagShot: TRE8801AST16-Z_1
    Front: TRE8801AST16-Z_2
    Back: TRE8801AST16-Z_3
    Inside bag: TRE8801AST16-Z_4
What I need is the sequence to start at zero so the tag shot is _0 and my images are named like this:
    TagShot: TRE8801AST16-Z_0
    Front: TRE8801AST16-Z_1
    Back: TRE8801AST16-Z_2
    Inside bag: TRE8801AST16-Z_3
Is this possible? If yes, how?
    Thanks for the help
    Cody

About as close as you can get is to right-click on a single clip and Make Multiclip Sequence. Hit OK to make an sequence out of the single clip. Open the sequence made and delete the multiclip and edit the clip you want back into the sequence.

  • How to add folder/project name to a File Naming preset

Here's a tip to automatically add the name of the Project or its parent Folder to the filename during Import or Batch Change.
I always used a custom field for adding my client's name to the filename upon Import or Batch Changing versions or masters. But often I would forget to change the custom name, and since it's auto-populated with the previous entry, I'd end up with a bunch of files with the wrong client's name on them. That looks kind of bad. So once I saw with Aperture 3 you can add the Project name or Folder name when relocating referenced files to the new folder structure, I was excited to be able to do the same for the filenames at import. Well, no such luck. They're not an option when you create a custom File Naming preset.
However, I recently decided to poke around inside some plist files, and found a workaround. I discovered the format string for Folder Name is %F and Project Name is %P. The trick is getting the code into the Format Field where you create the preset.
Create a new File Naming preset by choosing "edit" from the Version Name menu during Import or Batch Change. Drag everything you want in the name into the Format field, and enter %F or %P where you want the Folder or Project name. The tricky part is that you can't insert it between two existing criteria. It only works at the very end. After you have it in place, you can drag the criteria around to get it in the order you want.
The alternative method is to insert the code directly into the plist. PLEASE, always make sure you're working with a copy and have a good backup when you're poking around in such things. If you have trouble getting the code to take from within Aperture, you can try this. Same as above, create a new preset, but this time, enter an F or P where you want the Folder or Project name. Give it a unique preset name and save it. Then Quit Aperture. Navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/FileNamingPresets.plist, and make a copy of the file, then open with Property List Editor. Dropdown the plist and then dropdown the item you want to edit. You should recognize it by the preset name. Now the easy part. Click in the FormatString field and insert the % character before the F or P you entered in the Format field. Save and you're done.
I discovered later that while the Folder and Project name works just fine during import, for some reason only the Project name works during Batch Change. The Folder name simply creates a "-" in the filename.
In case this is seen as a hack and gets deleted, I'm also submitting it to http://www.macosxhints.com/ and I suspect if anyone from MacCreate sees it, they'll steal it too, as they're known to do.

I do not think there is an out of the box way to do this.
The immediate solution that comes to mind is using a workflow, that runs everytime  a document is uploaded/item created, which may be too much for your scenario.

  • HP Color Laserjet 4600dn - presets don't save

We have an HP Color Laserjet 4600dn which is networked and is using Appletalk.
The printer has two paper trays-- #1 is a pulldown rack which will hold various paper sizes and #2 is a 500 sheet tray for letter size paper.
In OS X 10.4 we could go into the "Paper Feed" feature in the Print menu (in MS Word, for example), set the feed to Tray #2 and save this as a "preset" we called "Main Tray".
In OS X Leopard I can no longer save the preset so the paper is always fed out of tray #1 unless (1) there is no paper in tray #1 or (2) I manually set the paper feed feature each time.
HP does not have a newer drive on its website and Leopard has the CLJ 4600 in its list of printer drivers and has settings for features such memory and duplex.
Anyone have an idea how to get the very useful "presets" function working again?
    Thanks

  • Media Encoder CC exporting the wrong resolution in custom preset h.264

I have two custom presets in Media Encoder CC.  The original file is an mov Lossless 720x480 from After Effects.  One is h.264 mp4 720x480 and the other is h.264 640x480.  When I encode the resolutions are 872x480 and 581x480 respectively.  Not sure what I have going on here.  The presets worked with the same settings just fine in Media Encoder CS6 on another computer.  Any ideas?

  • Prelude CC does not see presets in Media Encoder CC

I'm new at this, but am getting help from someone who has set this up and has it working in a previous version of the software(s), so we're both baffled!
I have defined a preset in Media Encoder CC, but when I go into Prelude CC to utilize it, it does not appear in the list of options.  However, I am able to see and access the preset in Premiere CC .No amount of deleting/reinstalling/cursing has helped, and I don't see anything in the software that would disable it.  I'm running a Windows 7 box.
Any ideas out there?  (stupid computers!!!)

Unfortunately, I only know the workaround on a Mac, but it might help as long as you can track the directories and might help Mac users who have suffered the same fate.
For whatever reason, AME is placing the presets in a new location without Prelude knowing about it.  Ill communication.  Basically, Prelude is looking in one place for the presets and the new Media Encoder is placing them elsewhere.
The workaround is to find where AME is placing them and move them to where Prelude is looking for them.
On a Mac, the solution is to take the presets User-- Documents--Adobe-Adobe Media Encoder--8.0--Presets and move them to where Prelude has always looked for them and where AME always previously stored them.  User--Library--Preferences--Adobe--Common--AME--8.0. On some machines, Adobe created an alias inside of here to point to the Documents folder and that solved it, but for whatever reason, it's inconsistent.

  • Printing presets are not loaded correctly

    Dear community,
i have the following problems using different printers (Canon MG5200, Epson Workforce WF3620, etc.):
I saved about 10 own printing presets and when I check on them under "Show presets" they are totally correct. But when I want to use them in a following print job and select them in the drop-down list "Presets" they are not correctly loaded. E.g. "Paper Size" and "Pages" are alternated to thesetting saved in the preset but e.g. the "Duplex Printing" checkbox or the "Print Quality" drop-down list are just left on the setting they were on before.
Anyone knows that problem and can help me?
    Thanks for your help.
    Greetings,
    Fares from Munich

Sorry for the delay in responding.
I was having trouble with presets, too, on my Epson printer/scanner, which is an old machine and the newer driver software does not give the same print setting options that came originally. So I decided to start from scratch. First I used the Epson uninstaller to remove the printer software. Next, reset the print system, then  connected directly to the printer via USB. Ignored the initial offer to download driver software. In the printer panel in System Preferences, clicked + to add the printer. Then the printer was set up by the system. Still connected directly, I made the presets. Make sure to check the box for "All printers" for your presets. These presets should work when you connect your printer on the network instead of USB.

  • Adobe Bridge Freezes While Previewing Animation Presets

    Hello
I know this question has been asked several times over, but I do not have a resolution so I thought would ask again.  Like the previous posts, when I browse presets from the Effects and Animations menu, Adobe Bridge opens.  I can scroll through the animations, but once I choose one, the play button scrubs and appears to play, but never does, and then the program freezes.  I have read the blog posts and installed the fixes posted on the adobe blog, but nothing helps. All of my Apple Software and Creative Cloud software says it is up to date.
    Here are my settings:
    Adobe After Effects 12.2.1.5
    Adobe Bridge 6.0.1.6
    Apple Quicktime 10.1
    20-inch, Early 2008 iMac OS X
Processor  2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b)
Any guidance you can offer is much appreciated!
    Thank you,

Thanks for the quick reply Rick.  Yes, 4Gb is not a lot, but when I bought the machine I was not doing any video and it sure seemed like plenty in 2008.  I probably should upgrade...
I did close down everything else, but the problem still exists.  I can navigate to a thumbnail, but once I click on it and try to preview, the program freezes and I have to force quit.

  • Unable To Use DVDSP4 Presets for HD-DVD in the H.264 Format

I recently prepared a 23 minute slide show using Fotomagico from high resolution Hasselblad slides scanned in at 1200 dpi. Within Fotomagico I rendered the Fotomagico slide show to Apple ProRes 422 HQ, took it into Final Cut Pro 6.03 and added an intro and closing section. I then sent this to Compressor and selected the 30 minute HD-DVD preset which uses mpeg2. All went fine with the encoding to mpeg2 and I got a successful build and format out of DVDSP4 after importing the resulting .m2v file into DVDSP4. However, while the disk plays back fine in my Mac Pro it plays back with stuttering (audio and video) on my Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD player. I used a Verbatim Datalife DVD+R, but several other discs from other manufactuers including a DVD-R disc showed the same problem.
Please note that I have the latest firmware on my Toshiba HD-A2 and I have successfully burned RL HD-DVD discs using my PC and Windows software (Ulead's DVD Movie Factory 6+) which play fine without stuttering on my HD-A2.
I then decided to send the project to Compressor and use the 60 minute HD-DVD preset that encodes to H.264. Once again Compressor successfully executed the encode of my 23 minute slide show and it plays fine in QuickTime or MPEG StreamClip. However, every time I try and import this .mov file encoded in H.264 using the Compressor preset for HD-DVD into DVDSP4, DVDSP4 brings it in to the assets folder, but after a couple of seconds DVDSP4 crashes. Using console I get a message that DVDSP4 quit unexpectedly due to a "segmentation fault".
I also tried to take the ProRes Fotomagic project in Final Cut Pro 6.02 and send it out with Quicktime Conversion using the H.264 codec. Again I have a file that plays fine in QT, but when I try and import this .mov file into DVDSP4, I get the message "imcompatible format".
In summary, I am completely frustrated after many many hours of work at trying to prepare an HD-DVD on red laser of my slide show in DVDSP4. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong, and I would be most appreciative of any suggestions anyone may have.
    Thanks in advance.
    Tom

Am I the only person who has ever tried to use the Presets in Compressor 3 for encoding HD-DVD disks? I would like to use these presets for burning HD-DVD's to standard red laser media as I have done on my PC. With the mpeg2 Preset I can get nothing but stuttering video when played back on my Toshiba HD-A2 and when I use Compressor 3 to encode with either of the H264 presets, the resulting .mov file causes DVDSP4 to crash when I import the file. Has no one else experienced this? Does anyone have any thoughts on addressing these issues other than to go back to working on my PC?
