Presets not included when exporting video as original

Hello everyone. I am having a nasty issue when I try to edit and export video out of Lightroom 4.3 on Mac 10.6.8. When I export as "Original" the presets and clipping are not applied. Another user on another discussion had suggested to flag the video, but it does no good for me. It just copies the video to the folder with no preset adjustments applied. When I try to export as H.264, it sets the output to 640x480, which is undesirable, and when it does export, the video quality is completely ruined, with a sort of milky white overlay and heavy pixelization.
What can I do to export my video as "original" with all the presets applied?

The second part of this is the answer, the first part is irrelevant.

Lightroom never writes to the raw files.  Exporting as "original" gets you the original raw file. However, you can have LR output an XMP sidecar file with all the edit instructions in it, which still probably does not get you to where you want to be.
The short answer is, to get your edits applied to the exported file, you need to pick a format other than "original".

  • .THM Sidecar Files Not Included When Importing Video Directly From Camera (Canon 7d)

Lightroom (3.4) has always copied the .THM sidecard files when I have imported video files from my Canon 7d using a card reader.  However I am on a trip and have forgotten my card reader so I have been copying directly from the camera and for some reason Lightroom is not copying the .THM sidecar files and thus I am missing all my valuable metadata such as camera, exposure, focal length, ISO, etc. associated with the video files.  Very frustrating!
    Any ideas?

Also because I do not have a card reader I cannot grab the .thm files myself.  Mac OS X (and I think Windows) just see the camera as a "device" and offer to import but do not give me direct access to the files.  Maybe if there is an app that will allow me to do that when the camera is connected I can work around this for now.

  • Why are most of my keywords not included when I export images?

Why are most of my keywords not included when I export images?
Since starting with Lightroom 1, I've entered keywords into either of the two fields between "keyword tags" and "keyword suggestions" in the keywording panel.  I was unaware that some keywords are more equal than others, or that Lightroom offered (or has added?) hierarchy support.
I recently stumbled into the news (to me) that Lightroom tags can be organized into a hierarchy, so I exported my keywords to a text file to examine.  I hadn't unwittingly created any hierarchies, but an astounding fraction of the keywords were within square brackets.  Sure enough, if I export an image, keywords within square brackets are omitted from the output (jpeg) file.  How nice.  Since I began with Lightroom 1, I've added nearly 1600 keywords.. Too bad most of them are coded wrong... so as not to accompany output that I create.
    1.     What was I supposed to do, as a photographer beginning to use Lightroom, to enter keywords simply but reliably:  what I type is what I get? I'd expected that's what the "just type here" interface would provide.
I especially dislike obtaining erratic results:  most keywords are in square brackets, but a few are not.  Of course, when I use a simplified interface, I should expect not to have access to some of the options or features.  However, I shouldn't inadvertently trigger undocumented behavior.
    2.     Does the Adobe reference help system say how to enter keywords simply and reliably, in its documentation of the keywording panel? I don't find my answer under the Keywords topic, within Home / Using Photoshop Lightroom 3 / Organizing photos in the catalog.
(I NOW realize that the instructions for the "Create/Edit keyword tags" dialog mention exporting. However, that's not the method I was using.)

I'm afraid that I distracted you with my background mention of hierarcharial keywords; I'm not asking about them.
I've entered keywords for several years of using Lightroom.  Suddenly, this week, I find that most (yet not all) of them have the attribute of "don't include the keyword in an exported file's metadata."  I never intended to ask for that; I thought all keywords will stay with the file and its offspring, and that's what I wanted.
    So I'm asking:
    1.     What did I do "wrong" to induce Lightroom to give the keywords that attribute? I never intended to ask it to.
    2.     Where does Adobe document how to enter keywords reliably so that they stay with the file on output?  I can't find that Adobe does.
    > Can you be more clear about keywords in square brackets? I know when you export the keywords as a list you can get a normalized data file that uses punctuation and tabs as delimiters...
I did export the keywords into such a list:  most keywords in the plain-text list have square brackets surrounding them, indicating keywords that will be omitted from metadata of any image that Lightroom exports.
My concern is not that the brackets are there.  They encode the attribute of "don't include the keyword in an exported file's metadata," and recognizing that attribute concerns me.
    > ...but I've never seen keywords in image files or in the interface rendered so.
    I haven't, either.

  • Audio and video do not sync when exporting

the audio and video content do not sync when exporting to media browser or quicktime.. at times the audio is delayed, or ahead of the video

    Wow, I was just about to post something similar. I've tried 4 different times, wasted a few dvds, and tried various ways of outputting to solve this...nothing. Here's my situation;
    • I have a series of stills, with music underneath...kind of like a slide show.
    • That ends, both music and visual, and I go to a black screen/slug that is :22, to give some breathing room before the video that follows. Also, the audio track fades out at the end of the stills...it does not continue into the slug.
    • After the :22 of black, I fade into a video. HOWEVER, everytime I've done that, the AUDIO portion of that video is starting while there's still black on screen, then when the video comes in, it's way behind.
I've adjust the audio to now end before the slug, thinking that was somehow making iMovie go wonky. Didn't work. I've wasted a few dvds before I got smart and started checking before burning. And still, everytime, that section is not syncing, but, i syncs in iMovie, where I made the video.
    This is HUGELY frustrating.

  • Error when exporting video in LR4

    Hi.
I use LR4 very frequently in my video editing workflow and is a vital tool for me in color correction.
However, today, It will not let me export video! I exported some video just a couple of days ago and all of a sudden it just doesn't work.
There is an error message that comes up:
    "amecommand has encountered an error.
    [/Volumes/BuildDisk/builds/DynamicLinkMediaServer1/main/shared/adobe/MediaCore/Backend/Mak e/Mac/../../Src/Sequence/Sequence.cpp-1315]"
I then click the continue option and then it looks as if the video is exporting, but it doesn't. It just freezes up and does nothing.
Any help or reason why this is all of a sudden happening?
P.S. The ONLY thing that I have changed in the last couple of days was download a new preset package from VSCO.

I'm now having this error - Has anyone solved this issue?
    I'm Running
    LR4.4
    OS10.6.8
    I Have tried:
    Re-installing QuickTime (including older versions)
    Stopping processes:
    amecommand.exe
    Adobe QT32 Server
    dynamiclinkmanager
    dynamiclinkmediaserver
importing and exporting from locations other than external HD.
    changing the extention to .mp4
The problem only exists with .mov files, I can export .avi files with no problems. I can export the .mov files in their original format (useless as I want the edited clips).
Re-installing LR in not something that I would like to do if I can avoid it.
Thanks SO much if you can help, My Brain is starting to break on this one!!!

  • Error when exporting video

    Hi,
Got this error when exporting video. Tried to export in different formats but same error pops up.
Any solution to this problem would be greatly appreciated. I have PreProCS5
    Thanks
    Shiva

Similar as the last post.. copy and paste.
    Found a simple solution;
    In Iphoto, select the movie; right click on the movie and select "copy; right click on your desktop or other folder in Finder and then select "paste Item";
The movie will be copied to that location in its original format.
Easy solution until Apple fixes the export movie issue.

  • Include when exporting

Frames > Properties > Include when exporting
I see variations of this, the frames will look ready to be
included to export, or not, but the Properties box indicates the
opposite. - Or I check, or uncheck, the box and a different frame
    will change.
This is getting on my nerves so I am wondering why there
aren't complaints about it here. - How can I be the only one?
Please let me know if I am not explaining this well.
    Thanks,
    Corona

I (think) I know how it is supposed to work. - But picture
this: The list of frames will have frame1 selected to include
(there is a number in the box on the right) but frame2, frame3
    & frame4 won't, they have a red X in the box instead of a
number. Then I open the Properties box to also include frame3 to
export but although there is a red X in the right column of frame3
the Include when Exporting box is already checked. - Or the
    opposite will happen.
If I have to explain this it porbably isn't happening to many
    people.

  • Crackling/popping - constant, not just when watching videos

;Crackling/popping - constant, not just when watching videos' My setup is a Dell Dimension 8400 with Media Center (WinXP), Intel Pentium 4, 3.4GHz, 3070Mb RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 video card, and an Audigy 2 ZS sound card.
After never having any audio problems, almost 3 months ago I updated the Audigy 2 ZS driver (5.2.4.96) to the most recent available (2.8.00), and immediately crackling and popping began coming from the speakers.
Although nothing has solved the problem, here are some things I've tried:
    1) updating to the beta driver (2.8.00)
    2) installing the old driver (2.09.006) offered at the Creative site
    3) installing an old driver (5.2.4.445) found online
    4) reinstalling from the original CD that came with my computer
Because I've spent so many frustrating hours since the disastrous update trying many different fixes, I can't recall exactly what happened during the update, and didn't keep good notes. However, my contemporaneous notes from that day mention (without context, unfortunately) some files that may provide a clue to more knowledgeable techies as to what has gone wrong:
    ctac32k.sys
    haP72K.sys
    ctdnlstr.dat
    ctoss2k.sys
This problem has consumed a great deal of my time, and interfered with my profession (musician). At this point I'm very frustrated, and would greatly appreciate the help of this forum.
P.S. I've created this new thread (message) rather than add a post to the "Static noise from soundcards encountered with Nvidia dual SLI" thread, because: ) I don't *think* that my GeForce 6800 is a "dual SLI" and 2) my symptoms are different, i.e., crackling and popping not just when watching video files or playing mp3's, but constantly, from first starting the computer.

How can i set songs within a playlist, or an entire playlist, so that they are not included when using the shuffle function on IPOD Classic?
    Is this possible?

You can set any song to Skip when shuffling.
In your iTunes Library, highlight the song and right-click/Get Info. On the Options tab is the Skip when shuffling box. Select that and then Sync the iPod with your Library.

  • Trouble maintaining original "date taken" info and metadata when exporting TIFFs from original CR2 files.

When exporting TIFFs (from original RAW), I noticed my metadata said the "date created" was the day of export. I want to be able to access the date the original image was taken as opposed to the day I exported it. Is there a way to maintain original date of image taken in my info? I couldn't seem to find it after I exported my TIFFs...

I just tested this with LR 5.5 Mac OS 10.9.3 and it works correctly for me.
    To troubleshoot your problem:
    1. Which version of LR and which platform (Mac, Windows)?
    2. Which tool or command are you using to examine Date Created of the exported TIFF?
    3. Upload a sample TIFF showing the problem to Dropbox or similar and post the URL here. This will allow us to take a look in detail.

  • Audio and video not synchronized when exporting from Premiere Pro CS6

    Hi
We have made a project in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 that´s intended to be exported to DVD (it´s a weeding). We are working with NTSC DV Widescreen. The exporting is 720x480
We have 2 audio lines activated and sounding on this project.
    The question is:
When exporting the entire video (the entire timeline sequece) using Adobe Media Encoder to formats like H.264 (NTSC DV Widescreen)... Quick Tile Movie or AVI without compression (we tested these formats) the 2 audio channels get unsynchronized from the video. The same problem occurs if we get a direct link of the timeline from Premiere to Encore.
And Inside Premiere Preview audio is preety correct.
Does anyone here are getting such problem?
Also..can I ask another question (as I´m not expert on video production)?. What´s the best format for our purpose? Export a video to be played to DVD (we record weedings, birthdays..social events). No problem the time to export. We´d like the best quality for output.
    Thank you for the help
    Gustavo.

    Hi John and techkid123
We have 4 cameras here. 1 is Sony model HD1000 (since it works with Mini-DV cassete we need to capture the image via Firewire). 2 cameras are Sony HD2000 (it generates *.MPEG files if I remember well). And 1 camera is a Panasonic AG-DVC7 (it generates *.MTS files)
We start a new project using the Standard NTSC Widescreen 48Khz format.  When we drag to the timeline for example the MTS file...Premiere ask us if we want to Keep and Change timeline to suit the file specification. Anyway we always have 1 or 2 camera files that has a yellow line over timeline.
But I renders correct...no problem to edit...and we had no problem with Premiere CS5.5 :/
We are downloading the latest update of Premiere. I´ll make some test and publish here if the problem persist.
Thank you a lot for the help
    Gustavo.

  • FCPx 10.0.3 (exporting video, "proxy" - "original")

When you import video into FCPx and create proxy video from your original video, you must remember afterwards to change in the settings to "use proxy video when editing video", or else in defulte settings you use the original, even if you chosen "create proxy" in import video.
Then I noticed when exporting the finnished work that you have to remember to change back to original video in settings before encodning (exporting) the video, to the original video and  highest quality, otherwise you are encodning in proxy quality, and you will have a poor quality of the finished product.
Wish Apple would warn about this when encodningen with folowing message "do you want to change proxy video to export with the original video instead", or that this is done automatically, or to say the Apple words "it (should) just work".
It chould be common sence that the user wants to use proxy if chosen, for HQ HD material, for better working flow and export in original when finnish with project.
(otherwise very happy with the new layout for FCPx, feldt in the beggining like an amateurprogram, but now feels more and more professional, i have jumped from Adobe Premiere CS4 to FCPx).

I have written this to "Apple FCPx" (Provide FCPx Feedback), but for now I am writing this as information for those who wonder why the quality of the video does not get good at the finished product when encoading is done.
(Thats why i have written it here on Apple "diuscussion")

  • Unwanted moderate distortion of aspect ratio when exporting video

This seems to be a new problem for me, and I don't THINK I've changed any of my parameters. But the result is now wrong... Help!
I use my VCR to record from US broadcasts (good old fashioned plain old TV, NTSC, I presume). Then I transfer snippets onto my DV camcorder (good ol' plain DV, nothing with 16:9 or anything like that). Then I import my DV footage into iMovie HD 6.0.2. It imports fine and looks like a normal aspect ratio.
But when I export using the File > Export... setting, I get a Quicktime video which appears vertically squished. The faces are too wide, bodies are too fat.
Looking at the various aspect ratios, I see that the preview window in iMovie HD is about 720 by 525 -- there are no black bars or letterboxing, and faces and bodies look normal. But the output video is 720 by 480, which is (according to a quick Google search) a normal NTSC output. No cropping has taken place, and no letterboxing, either. So that's why it's squished. But...
So why is iMovie showing me something from right off my TV screen which is the wrong aspect ratio but seems to have the correct proportions? That would seem to imply that my good ol' TV and VCR are not actually operating in NTSC proportions... which would be extremely weird because the footage I happen to have recorded is from an old game show from the 1960s. Do I have some setting wrong somewhere?? Is there something fundamental I don't understand? Help! Like I said, this is a new problem with me and I don't recall having changed any import settings.

Thanks for your help! I had no idea that so many video processes use rectangular pixels. But I'm still confused. What I see on screen in iMovie (and most QuickTime stuff) looks fine, but what I got out of this last set of conversions looks wrong.
Obviously you used the Full Quality DV option which uses rectangular pixels, right?
Uh... I have no idea. I've spent a couple of minutes looking through the menus in iMovie and I don't see anything labeled "Full Quality DV". I'm not specifically trying to export in DV format; I'm trying to compress my NTSC format so that it plays back in nearly full size on my iBook laptop, which cannot keep up with Sorensen video or the H.264 (or two-sixty-whatever) codecs. I found that Cinepak CAN be played back at this size on my iBook. But Cinepak is a compression standard, not a video frame size standard, right?
What you are seeing is normal... 720x480 NTSC rectangular pixel DV should be scaled to 656x480 square pixels.
No, it's not normal. It doesn't look normal to the eye. It's not what normally happened to me in the past. It drives me nuts. By those three definitions, it's not normal.
I am not trying to export in a format that fits some video standard or TV set. I'm trying to export a QuickTime movie which will display properly when played back by QuickTime. So I'm extremely frustrated when iMovie (or something) takes a video clip from an NTSC source and for some odd reason squishes it.
When you say that "720x480 NTSC rectangular pixel DV should be scaled to 656x480 square pixels", I assume you mean that it should be scaled to that number of square pixels in order to display on a computer monitor with square pixels (i.e., basically all computer monitors) in a way which makes faces and bodies appear of normal proportions, right? Are you implying that the problem is that rectangular pixels are NOT being converted/resampled to square pixels, but that the conversion is being done on a (no-resampling) pixel-by-pixel basis? I'm just not sure I understnand the point you are making here.
Since I had different results in the past, there must be SOMETHING different about my current setup. After reading the link you suggested, I see that there are a HUGE number of possible complications out there. The main idea, however, is that I want to produce a QuickTime movie which looks the same as the preview shown in iMovie: Same shape of faces, same shape of bodies, just as it was when I originally viewed the footage on my television.
    Thanks!

  • Meta data not included upon export - Please confirm

Hello everyone. I'm looking to confirm with several people the following:
After updating to the most recent version of Aperture and Tiger (Leopard is not tame enough yet), exported images do not include meta data (yes, I know how to click the little box that says include meta data so please understand in advance that isn't the solution).
I'm looking for several people to confirm this is happening to them too. Kinda a bummer to have done all the key-wording & meta data work only to have exported images void of anything. Previous version of Aperture exported meta data just fine: I have one folder here full of images I just processed (no meta data) and one folder full of images processed 7 weeks ago (has meta data).
    Thoughts?
    Thanks in advance,
    Christopher David

Your problem and description gave me the first clue about the little box that needs to be checked, but where to find that little box. I'm adding my resolution here because your title most closely matched my problem. Maybe someone searching in the future needs to know how to find the box to check and won't have to search any farther with this explanation. I hope you've solved your problem too.
I searched and posted in several forums before calling Apple Support today. I've discovered the problem with that tech person's guidance. If anyone else faces this dilemma, check your settings here:
Aperture > File > Export Versions
Then you get a pop up box with some drop down menus. The top drop down box has 'Edit' at the bottom of its list. Go into there. You'll have several preferences to choose from (file type, dimensions, quality, etc) and there's a tiny box that accidently got unchecked which says something like: Include Metadata.
I can't check it for exact wording because I'm merrily re-exporting right now - Metadata intact!
Apparently there's an even quicker path to fix this:
Aperture > Presets > Image Export
I can't check this either because exporting doesn't go to the background and I have a bunch of photos to resend now that it's working OK!
