Prevent change unit of measure on a component in an order
Hello,
Is it possible to prevent the user to change the unit of measure (UM) in the component of an order.
What I need is the unit of measure from the material master without the possibility to change it.
Thanks,
François
thyagarajan,
By default, the system displays the Unit of issue entered in the material master. If none exists, SAP display the Base Unit of Measure.
The problem we're facing is when many units exists in the material master.
Example: "EA" Each and "DZ" Dozen is defined in the Mat. Master, with obviously defined as 1 dozen equals 12 each.
If a user enters 1 "EA" in the ORDER but the Unit of issue is in DZ, the Procurement side will see that they need to buy 0,08 DZ wich is impossible because material is sold by dozens...
We need to prevent the usage of smaller unit equivalent on the order side.
What do you suggest?
François

Hi SAP MM gurus,
I am trying to change the base unit of measure of the part and got error says that PR,PO Sale order exists.
Third party order already created. I have deleted purchase requisition and Purchase order.
When I try to delete the third part order it gives me an error reference Po already exists even PO got deleted alreday.
Could you please help to resolve the issue. How to delete the sale order?
Regards,
SenthilHi,
You can change UOM only
1.No stocks are available for the material.
2.no existing PR,POs or scheduling agreements for the material. And material is not link to BOM .
For more clarity please refer the below links.

How can i change unit of measurement in sales order on header
Dear all,
I have material master with base unit of measurement " Ea ".
I have to take unit Pc in sales order.
how can i change unit on header in sales order.
i changed unit on line item in sales order by setting in sales unit field in material master.Hi,
You can very well do it, please do the following steps,
Go to material master and select the Sales Org.1 and 2, here maintain the sales unit PC and
it will ask you for the conversion, so maintain your conversion for PC to EA. Then maintain
the Division, delivery plant, material pricing group and account assignment group(if not maintained) and save it
Now create the sales order for that resp. material, you will find that system will pick up
the sales unit which is maintained in the material master's sales orgnization tab.
For this you need not to change at the header level of sales order
Please check and revert.
Thanks,

Met problem to change unit of measure in material master
Our prime made mistake when creating material master with MM01. He used wrong unit of measure EA instead of right one M. And when he recognized this issue and tried to change it with MM02 in view Basic1, system prompt him an error message that "Standard cost estimates for the current period already exist".
So, please help to let me know how can I delete related records about cost estimates and avoid this error. Thanks a lot.Robbie,
You can delete Cost estimates using T-code: CKR1 , I am not sure if you can change UoM if you have any goods movements on the material. The best option would be create new material with correct UoM and transfer stock from old Material to New one with proper Conversion.
Thanks

Change Unit of Measure for Non-stock item PR
Good day!
I have created a non-stock PR. After I saved it, the transaction was then converted to RFQ and then to PO. In PO, it was found out that the unit of measure was incorrect. We have reverse/cancelled both RFQ and PO but the unit of measure field is non-editable. Is there another way to change this aside from deleting and recreating the item?
Thank you.hi,
Its correct...It is always follows the same scenerio...
You can only change the Unit of measure when you have just saved the document and can change it till the further document is not made for it...
Once you make the further document like as you said you have made RFQ, its not possible to make change further...
So, the alternative is you delete the exsisting line item and create the new one...
For the same, create the new RFQ and PO items as well...

I would like to know how to change the units of measurement in the rulers in a FrameMaker 9 document (Windows XP). I tried View > Options to open the dialog box but the changes I make there don’t seem to have any effect. I have been familiar w/FrameMaker for several years but I’m just starting to use this version. I know it’s something simple—please advise. Thanks--
What exactly are you setting?
Units: Display Units:
doesn't affect the rulers.
Snap: Grid Spacing:
doesn't affect the rulers.
Display:
[*] Rulers [pull down choice]
does affect the rulers.
Works fine in FM7.1/Unix.
I just wish Photoshop and Illustrator had the 1/10th inch option. -
Update info record when changing units of measure in material master
Hello,
is there any possibility for an automatic change of info record when changing conversion factors in the material master ?
We have 3 units of measure in our material master: the base unit and 2 alternative units. The first alternative unit is the order unit and the second alternative unit is the order price unit. So in our purchase info records we maintain an order unit, which differs from the base unit and we also maintain an order price unit, which differs from the base unit and the order unit.
If we now change the conversion factors between the units in the material master, we would like to get an automatic change of the converions in the info record (to order unit and order price unit), which have the same previous conversions.
For IS R it seems to be implemented (see OSS-Note 975954).
Is there any solution for a "normal" industry system ?
Thanks for answering
Edited by: Britta Heinsen on Jul 23, 2009 1:52 PMI don't think such an auto update is available. Infact I came to know that such an update is available in IS-R after reading your query.
Obviously you an always create a workflow based enhancement that can synchronize the Info-records and material master changes or sort of enhancement which regularly reads the material master change history for such changes and trigger a synchronization by executing change Info-record automatically. -

Is it possible to change a Purchace UOM.
If not, how should I deal with this?
The products we puchase are not always puchased in the same UOM, and we have no control over this.
ThanksThanks for responding Suda.
I posed the question incorrectly.
Is it possible to change the "Items per Purchase Unit"?
This is what needs to be changed when goods are recieved.
For example; One shipment will contain 56 pieces per box...the next will contain 48 pieces, etc, etc.

how to make stock of material zero, without issuing it.
Reverse the transaction with which it has come into stock.
Let's assume the stock comes using MIGO 101, then reverse MIGO using 102 movement type.
Hope I made it clear to you. please reward.

Unit of measure changed in BOM not reflected in Production order
We noticed the following problem in one of our production order.
1. We have a bom component having a unit of measure MT.
2. A planned order already exists for this header material.
3. We changed the unit of masure in the same BOM component to KG.
4. We processed the production order and did confirmations and did auto GR.( Value 20 times high)
5. The cost at GR is very high , although the material consumption is considering the changed unit of measure KG.
Any possible solution to this problem,
Thanks,
ManoharAll steps suggested including read PP master data , rerun MRP and generate a new planned order and then convert to a new production order, have been done but the effect at 101 remains same with high actual costs.
The production order is acocunt-assigned to a WBS.
In table QBEW , the standard price is updated as very high. We havs S as price control in header material master.
May be , some one has some idea about how the standard price in Table QBEW gets updated. What is the source for this standard price which gets updated on doing GR ( It comes to project stock and we see the standard price being very high and so the actual cost is very high)
Thanks,
