Preview app doesn't display hyperlinks

PDFs when opened in Apple's Preview App do not work with hyperlinks (including mailto:s). We've tried with various work flows from both windows apps, Apple's 'print pdf', Acrobat Pro. Other apps work fine: e.g. Adobe Reader, Safari.
I'm surprised not to see more discussion about this, is it a well known issue?

Hyperlinks in PDFs that I create in Adobe InDesign work fine in Preview, assuming they were actually created as hyperlinks (versus text strings even with link-like formatting).
Some other apps try harder to interpret text strings as hyperlinks than Preview does.

Preview.app will not display some PDF files

Since upgrading Yosemite I have found that Preview.app will not display some PDF documents, the documents open but all the pages are blank. This is a big issue as my work involves reviewing documents that are all in the PDF format. Strangely some PDFs work properly but I haven't been able to determine any common factors among the documents that work versus those that don't work. The problem documents do open correctly in Adobe Acrobat Reader but Reader takes over viewing of PDF container fields I have in several important FileMaker Pro 13 databases. Acrobat in the FileMaker databases for me is just as much of a problem as not viewing PDFs in Preview.
After searching the forums I followed suggestion in a post to try using version 7.0 of Preview.app (the version that worked under Mavericks) but that is also showing blank pages. I have noticed that the PDFs which open as blank pages also display that way in Finder and Spotlight previews. Could this mean that I have some kind of OS level issue here and not a Preview.app issue? Perhaps Finder and Spotlight use Preview.app to generate the preview.
I have posted this in a bug report to Apple but in the meantime I would welcome any suggestions or workarounds to try.

The built-in PDF renderer has trouble with that file. You might get better results with Adobe Reader.

Verizon Messages App doesn't display incoming texts

The VERIZON MESSAGES APP doesn't display all incoming messages.
This is true for the WEB APP i use on my windows 7 PC
Iv'e tried multiple browsers and this does not help
It is also a problem with both my android tablets running the google play app from verizon
I'm not sure but, it appears that maybe this is related to ATT users.

This does NOT work on the Galaxy S3.
Airplane mode ON, Wifi ON, No network mode is available in Airplane mode. So...only wifi is available. When I try to send a text with only wifi available I get "Network not available. The message will be sent when the network is available"
BUT...On my Galaxy Tab 2 (non-verizon), This DOES work. On the tab 2 with only wifi available, I CAN send text messages using Verizon Messages.
So....again...
On Galaxy Tab 2 with only WiFi available...texting with Verizon messages DOES work.
On Galaxy S3 with only WiFi available...texting with Verizon messages DOES NOT work.
Please fix Verizon Messages to work over WiFi using Galaxy S3.

Memory Leak in Preview.app when switching Display Profiles

I found a weird memory leak in Max OS X Preview.app, which manifests itself when Display profiles (color calbration) is change. I wonder if anyone else can reproduce my experience.
1. Open up "System Preferences" -> "Displays", switch to the "Color" tab. You'll need at least 2 available profiles in the list. (If you only have 1, you can create another using "Calibrate..." button to launch Display Calibration Assistant.
2. Open an image file in Preview.app. The larger, the better. Zoom in full size to maximize the effect of the bug. I repro'ed easily with this image: http://www.donporter.net/NewSchool/Color/Examples/Printer%20Test%20file.jpg
3. Open up "Activity Monitor.app", and click on Preview to highlight it, so you can watch its memory usage.
4. Switch back to "Diplays" Preference Pane. Using the arrow keys, toggle up and down between two different Display profiles.
4a. At the same time, watch Preview's "Real Mem" in Activity Monitor, as well as the total "Active" memory.
5. Each time you switch profiles, Preview consumes more Active/Real memory, about 25MB per switch in my case. This continues until all physical memory is consumed, and then (I presume) starts swapping virtual memory to disk.
6. Bring Preview to foreground, and all the profile-induced memory usage is freed.
Weird, wild stuff.

Could it be possible that this is just the OS holding the memory for the app until another process requires it? Do you find that the memory increase eventually causes the app to become unstable?

Preview app doesn't open anymore after Maverick installation

Since Maverick installation, I can't open my pictures in Preview. The Preview application doesn't open anymore. Neither does the App Store, nor the 'software update'
Any idea what to do?

Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library", then go to Containers folder and com.apple.Preview and delete container plist. Now relaunch Preview and test.
EDIT: Oops, 10.7... it may be in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preview.plist. I'm not running 10.7 right now.

Running app doesn't display unicode chars

So far, i didn't care about character encodings. When i setup a string in java i just used my special characters, like e.g. the german umlauts:
String text = "�usserlich �berhaupt nicht sch�n."; //html: Äusserlich überhaupt nicht schön Then i changed the file encoding in my IDE (eclipse) to UTF-8. The first time i reloaded my source files, i had to replace my texts by retyping my special charaters in the source. I thought that would have been enough.
But now, such text doesn't display anymore in a Swing component like a JTextField - instead the special characters are replaced by weird (sometimes multiple) other characters.
The only workaround i've found so far is, to replace all special characters in my source code with the corresp�onding unicode code character "\uxxxx" (backslash + u + 4 chars). But then this would be a step back writing text in the source code. I thought it would be easier to use Unicode ...?

This post should be under iCloud on the Mac, not icloud.com. If any moderator can move it, that would be great.

Preview.app Glitch throws Display Back to First Page

OS X Yosemite v10.10.2; Preview.app v8.0
I've discovered a very annoying glitch in Preview.app; in which when I select all pages after I showed thumbnails, and then mark all pages with [Command]+[A] and unmark a view pages by holding the Command Key and klicking some; the program throws me back to the very first page of the .pdf document. Anyone knows whether there's a fix to be made?

that is what im talking about. after i have tapped the apps icon and gone to the apps pages not the front/main pages, the pages cant be swiped continuously as they were on the s4. you start on page one, then 2 then 3 then 4 and instead of going back to page one it stops and to get back to page one you have to go in the other direction and go to page 3 then 2 then 1. on the s4 you could just keeep going 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 or 1, 4 3 2 1 4 3 2 1,

Since today, I can't open any pdf file (using Apple Preview app), nor can I open Preview.

I have just upgraded to OSX Mavericks and I have an annoying issue, this happened after I used clean mymac app and do some routine scanning. After it was done, I have noticed that Preview app doesn't work anymore, it just keeps crashing up until now

Anyone having issues of Preview.app crashing in OSX Mavericks?

No but CleanMyMac ca cause destructive issues to your system. I would recommend uninstalling it completely as per the Developers instructions, and if Preview still is not working, then chances are good that CleanMyMac has corrupted it and you may need to reinstall Mavericks (after backing up your system)

Preview.app doesn't allow capture of signature

When in the preferences pane of Preview.app, I get the following error, "The operation could not be completed" when clicking "Create Signature". If I make a second attempt, Preview.app aborts. I've tried resetting my preferences, but I continue to receive the same error. Any tips/ideas?

Had this problem too. In my case "Preview" defaulted to use "Camtwist" as camera source, with no option to choose another.
I uninstalled Camtwist. Now it uses the builtin Camera again. Check if you have any other webcam .kext you can temporarily disable.

Photos app doesn't display shared iCloud albums

I've been using Aperture and iPhoto, and had a few shared albums on iCloud. The upgrade to Photos app didn't seem to go smoothly and I had some strange behavior and messages about connecting to iCloud when the app first launched. I don't recall what they were exactly.
Now I can't view any of the shared albums in Photos and when I try to share to them, they are not seen as options. I can still view the shared albums on my iPhone. And I was able to re-establish shared albums in Aperture. But I can't see any way to get Photos to see and display them.
I disabled and re-enabled iCloud sharing in Photos preferences, no effect. I am not using iCloud photo library and am not interested in upgrading.
I eventually logged out of iCloud and removed all its data locally and then logged in again. Everything was restored except the shared albums.
So far nothing I've tried has worked. Photos looks nice, but I can't access my shared albums.

This post should be under iCloud on the Mac, not icloud.com. If any moderator can move it, that would be great.

Since IOS 5 iPad video app doesn't display correct art for shared videos.

I like to watch my movies located on my mac computer over my network to my iPad. Ever since I installed IOS 5 on my iPad when browsing shared movies on iPad the artwork doesn't match the movie making it difficult to pick the correct movie. When I select a movie, then the correct movie artwork shows up before selecting play. when clicking back(Shared) button the artwork flips back to the incorrect artwork in the move list. I've tried rebooting my mac, rebooting my iPad. I even restored my iPad with no success. This problem didn't start until I installed IOS 5 on my iPad. Apple can you please fix this!!!!

It doesn't work.. I have already tried many ways to close the app. This is the step by step guide I have to follow every time I want to close the video app:
1. When everything doesn't react - press the lock screen button.
2. press it again (or the home button) and slide the screen to unlock.
3. Now the Application doesn't have any picture. Just a black screen, but sound is still running, and it still doesn't react when I am doing anything. Now this was the tricky part to experience, because now I simply press the home button one time and after 12-15 seconds, the application hides and I am back to home screen. (sound still playing.)
4. Open the task bar and close the app. (Sound is still playing)
5. Press lock screen button. (sound stop playing).
6. Unlock the screen and open the video app again to start over.

Email app doesn't display all inbox email

I have recently changed phones, moved all the content from my old phone to the new one (same model) using Blackberry Desktop Software - all went fine.
Problem is that if I click the email icon I can't see all the messages - it only shows those that replies were sent to and doesnt display the email if its only one email sent i.e. not a thread.
Display style is set to Group by Subject. If I change it to Single Message I can see them all, but its annoying to use if I need to refer to the whole conversation.
I can go to View Folder and set to Inbox and then I DO see all my inbox messages, but if I close the app and open it again I'm back the beggining - I can only see an email if there are replies to it, not if its a single sent email.
How do I set the Inbox view as the view I get after opening the email app? It used to be like that on my old phone so I know it is doable - though I dont remember having to set it up. It just displayed everyting correctly.
I simply used to be the same view as on the computer. Inbox as the main view, conversation combined by the Subject, once clicked on I get all the emails in the conversation displaying one after another, clickable to open.
I loved the blackberry due the fact how easily I could handle my work email, now it became much more fiddly.

What I havent tried before posting whats above is back the blackberry content up and restore it again. I have absolutely not idea why it worked (since it should have copied the wrong settings) but it DID.

"Group by Subject" was what I was referring to. Sometimes it's called Conversation style.

Preview mode doesn't display correctly

Lately I have had many problems in preview mode. I had to restart the program to see preview mode correctly. I waste time (on restart, then run the program, and test again the preview mode) each time is not doing correctly. It will be great if someone can help me!

No, they just display on your browser, when you close your browser the files are deleted.
I personally like to use preview in browser, I can preview a designed page in Chrome, Firefox and Explorer by just coping the address.

Preview mode doesn't display slide shows

I have the most recent Muse CC v7.1 Build 329, and Mac OS 10.9.1.
My machine is an iMac 27 (12,2) with 24 Gb RAM.
Any slide show created in Muse fails to display in "Preview" and "Preview in Browser". I have also downlaoded the "Katie's Cafe" tutorial file, and the slide show in the final file also fails to preview in these 2 modes.
Once exported to HTML. there seems to be no problem in the website files. The inability to preview without going to these lengths is a problem.
Is there a solution?

If you copy over the link/URL that you see in the browser's address field when you use Preview in Browser and then open that link in another browser, do you see the slideshow working?
