Preview can't open Adobe DNG files converted in snow leopard

I have been unable under Snow Leopard 10.6 to use either 5.4 or 5.5 adobe dng converter to convert Leica RWL files to DNG files that are readable by Preview or by Aperture. Adobe CS4 can read these DNG files, but then it can read the RWL raw files as well.
However, on my other mac using Leopard 10.5, the converted DNG files ARE readable by Preview and Aperture. Any thoughts or help?

The DNG converter is not a plug-in. You need the Camera Raw update. That may be your point of confusion.

Most users who have had a problem opening Office files with the iWork apps after upgrading to Snow Leopard have the problem fixed by updating to the latest versions. For iWork '08 that is Pages 3.0.3 & Numbers 1.0.3. For iWork '09 it's Pages 4.0.2 & Numbers 2.0.2. I don't use Keynote, but it should also be updated. If you're not running the latest versions & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. They must be in the iWork '08 or iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '08 or iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '08 or '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

Either use 'SYLKPIX Developer Studio SE' to develope the RAW files and to save them in another lossless format like TIFF, or try if Adobe's free DNG Coverter can convert your Lumix RAW files to dng. Then import the dngs. This way, your files will still be RAW files. This works (most times) for my Lumix FZ28.

Preview can't open any pdf file

PDF documents are greyed out in the open menu.
Setting Preview as the "open this document with..." app in the get info window gives the message that "it's not known if this application can open Adobe PDF files"
At the same time, Safari started crashing on being asked to open a PDF file.
I've reinstalled Safari, grabbed Preview from a Time Machine backup from when it worked, reinstalled the developer tools in case they wrote over webkit, trashed all preferences and rebooted. No joy.
I looked at the document types list in Preview's info.plist and the entry for com.adobe.pdf is in there. I've opened an eps file in Preview and saved it as a pdf; I can then open that pdf in Acrobat, but not in Preview (even though it appears in the "recent documents" list.)
What am I missing?

I can't open Adobe DNG converter in Windows

I tried to download Adobe DNG and RAW converter. It tells me Windows can't open the file.
I have Win 7 Pro. Want to use the converter with Photoshop CS6 which doesn't recognize
RAW files.

Why can I open THIS .dng file, but I can't open THAT .dng file?

I have one folder with .dng files that I can open in CS3 Camera RAW.
I have a second folder with .dng files, that says, "Photoshop does not recognize this type of file," when I try to open them.
Both folders where shot with the same Lumix LX-3 and passed through DNG converter.
What am I doing wrong?

Because of changes to the DNG spec over time, you must now choose what sort of backwards compatibility you need in the DNG Converter preferences...for Photoshop CS3, you need to select Camera Raw 4.6 as the ACR version. You should also be sure you've properly loaded Camera Raw 4.6 (the last version for CS3) .

Can't open Adobe Premeir Files after rebuilding computer

I had problems with my PC, so rebuilt it, and installed Windows 7 (it was XP SP3 beforehand). After installing Adobe Premeir Elements I now cannot open any previoulsy saved Premier Elements files. An error comes up saying 'this type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed'. The HDD the files are on was not changed at all.
Anyone help? I need to compete a project, and do get back to where I was would take ages!

This error usually indicates that a previous CODEC is not currently installed in the new OS. CODEC's are installed at the system-level, so just having your media files, etc., on the HDD's will not help here. This ARTICLE will give you more background, and tips.
What CODEC is required? That can be found by running the AV files through a utility, like G-SPOT. You need to find that CODEC, download it, and install it.
Once, Windows OS's included many common CODEC's, with the installation. With Vista, things changed, and especially for the Home editions. One had to go to the MS Web site, and download and install the Vista CODEC pack. Do not know exactly what is/is not included in the Win7 installation, but there should be an MS CODEC pack for Win7, where those were missing. WARNING: I do not recommend any of the "free" CODEC "packs," available, other than the ones from MS. Those often cause real problems, and I avoid them completely. At the very best, they fill up one's system with outdated, never-used CODEC's, that have to load, and usually will overwrite good, commercial CODEC's with hacked, or reverse-engineered versions. At the worst, they install all sorts of "stuff," and to get rid of some of that, one needs to completely wipe the system HDD, reinstall the OS, after a complete format, and then reinstall all software.

Preview can't open JPEG (.jpg) files

Prior to upgrading to OS X Yosemite, I was able to scan pictures on my scanner to JPEGs (file extension .jpg) and open them with Preview. Now Preview says "The file xxxx_xxxx.jpg could not be opened. It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize." How do I fix this? Thanks. Mid 2009 13'' MacBook Pro, OS X 10.10, Preview v8.0. My Scanner says its software is current.

I opened a bug report with Apple and received this response:
Engineering has determined that your bug report (18693595) is a duplicate of another issue (18596578) and will be closed.
Since the problem still exists I decided to check on the status of 18596578 and it is closed as well. Going to reach out to Apple again.

Failor, can't open Adobe .pdf file - Please Help

when I save a .pdf document to SAP, as you can see in the picture below, and try to open it, I get the failor that SAP is not able to open this .pdf in the "DEFAULT" Network.
I'm really new in SAP and don't know how I can change the network or somthing else to solve this problem.

Also you might want to provide more details as to what kind of document you're trying to open (e.g. in what transaction). And, instead of posting the pictures, just specify the message text and/or message class and number (e.g. V1 100). The error messages are unreadable on your pictures.
And, better yet, ask your manager to get a qualified Basis admin.

when I save a .pdf document to SAP (Code: CV01N), as you can see in the picture below, and try to open it, I get the failor "Network address DEFAULT of your computer is not maintained".
I'm really new in SAP and don't know how I can change the network or somthing else to solve this problem.

OS 10.8.4 (recent upgrade) and can not open a .dmg file

I am using an iMac 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 and have recently upgraded to 10.8.4 and can not open any .dng file. It indicats that it is not recognizeable. How can I intall my downloaded software?

Something else is going on then. Set up a test/new account. If the problems appears there too, then it means it's a system wide problem.
Another thing to try if you have not already done so is to disconnect all devices from your computer, repair permissions and restart your computer. Or do the following:
Mountain Lion Recovery
Boot up from your computer by holding down the command+r keys. This will take you to the recovery drive.
Select Disk Utility & hit Return.
In Disk Utility select the HD on the left & click on Repair Disk (bottom right).

If you have purchased CreatePDF please visit: https://createpdf.acrobat.com/SignIn.html
Sign in with your Adobe ID and password, and then convert your word doc into PDF.
Please let me know if that works.
If you have Adobe Reader, you cannot convert .doc file to .PDF by drag and drop.
