Preview Mode question

Hi All,
I'm new to the iMac, having just come from the PC world, and am hoping you can help me with a couple questions. I'm a photographer and in a PC opened my photos in preview then when I wanted to edit one, I'd right click and then choose the program I wanted to open the photo in (Photoshop). How do I do this from preview mode, or can I? I don't like selecting images to open from the thumbnails, because they're just not big enough to see the photo clearly.
Second question. Windows 7 allows you a folder view that opens the folder slightly, so you can see a couple of the contents inside. I don't believe Mac has that option but I thought I'd check. It's really handy, and didn't realize how often I'd used it.
Thanks!!

Using the Finder's coverflow or column view is one way to get a little bit larger preview, and QuickLook can be used for an even larger (or full screen) preview. Right-clicking on a file will let you choose what to open it with (you will need to exit QuickLook if that is what you are using at the time).

  • Gif file won't animate in Muse's preview mode or in Muse's view in browser mode

    Created a gif file with Photoshop that's 7.5MB in size.  Placed the gif  file on a Muse page.  But, the gif won't animate in Muse's preview mode or when Muse sends the page to be viewed in browser mode.  I'm using a Mac running OS X 10.9.2 and I'm a creative cloud member using Muse.  Any solutions?

    Step one to enable the community to help debug what you're encountering would be to provide the URL for the page where the GIF is being used. My first guess would be there are effects applied to the image (i.e. inner glow, bevel, etc.) that require Muse to re-encode the image and Muse does not support encoding animated .gif. It only supports passing animated .gif files through unchanged. (And to get an image to pass through unchanged it needs to have no effects that require rasterization applied in Muse.)
    Given you've stated the GIF file is 7.5Mb I have to question your choice of .gif. At 7.5Mb this single file will take ~8 seconds to download on the average US broadband connection and will be much slower for many broadband users and most cellular users. GIF is a reasonable choice for very small short animations used sparingly, but is seldom (if ever) a good choice for larger or longer animations. Better choices for those are to use a video or a tool like Edge Animate to create a HTML5/CSS3 animation. The end result will be vastly more user friendly in terms of page load performance.
    A huge percentage of first time visitors to a webpage will cancel the page load rather than waiting 8+ seconds for the page load to complete.

  • Looks good in design and preview mode, online there is box in lower right corner! How to find box and delete it?

    www.nssgranite.com
    Online, scrolling down and to the right, there is a white box that is linked to a different web site of mine. I don't want that box to be there, but I can't find it in design mode nor preview mode when working with the Muse program. Where is it?? I want to delete it!!

    Thank you. However, I went in, expanded every single layer and did not see anything that was missing it's "eye". I clicked and unclicked everything that was a rectangle and found one rectangle that didn't seem to have representation on the screen. I deleted this rectangle from the layers box, uploaded the site to the internet hoping for the best, and unfortunately this did not solve the problem.
    I wonder, should I just create a new page from scratch to replace this page?
    I don't know if you've seen my other question, but this isn't the only problem I am having with my Muse site. The layout is distorted on all but a select size of screen, and most likely I am going to have to revamp things quite a bit to make them work on the average computer display.
    Thank you for any further suggestions because I am totally open to other thoughts on this!!

  • Adobe Muse Footer not full width in preview mode?

    Hi, I originally had my footer 100% width when previewing in browser and preview mode, and now for some reason it is not 100% width. Not sure what I have done for this to occur and it doesnt make it any easier when in design mode it is 100% width. Any help much appreciated.

    Just answered my own question, bounding box was not quite out to full browser width. To ensure it goes out to the full width keep dragging across until the guides turn red. I must of bumped it when I went in the masters page to do something and it was out by just a bees dick! Unreal....2 hrs of my life I wont get back haha :-)
    PS...Do I get 10 points for answering my own question? ;-)

  • Widgets Do Not Function in Browser, Only in Preview Mode.

    I created a lightbox and a tabbed section on separate pages, and the wodgets do not function when I test in browser or or open html conversions in a browser. They test fine in preview mode.
    Bill
    Actually, the problem seems to be Explorer. Works fine in Safari. Frequently have to insert fixes for special problems in IE. Are there any fixes for IE's peculiar problems?
    Also works fine in Mozilla FF & Chrome. Mulitple problems in IE with display, and Widgets are completely non-functional.

    I am referring to the attached files, which are a Muse site conversion to html. I have had problems in the past emailing web info, so if you want me to ftp the files somewhere, I can do that. These pages have not been published yet.
    The two pages in question are in the file. If you open them in IE, the widgets do not function. In the index page, the text in the New & Events area to the right are Lightbox links. In the cottages page, you can see the slide show in the main middle are and the tabs on the right in the shadow box.
    The side show works off and on. The lightbox (index) and tabs (cottages) do not function at all. There are no error messages. IE does not indicate working links (no finger).
    As I believe you know, IE has problems displaying things that other browsers do not. Dreamweaver templates, for example, include a blockquote instruction for html5 that is needed for IE to display certain items properly. Since the pages will function normally in Safari, Mozilla FF and Google Chrome, I conclude there is a problem with IE.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Acrobat Preview mode doesn't show PMS spot colors

    Out of the blue, the preview mode in Acrobat 9 is showing PMS spot colors as black, CMYK colors show up fine. The actual pdf itself is fine. This happens when I make pdfs "High Quality" or "Press Quality" from Indesign 6. Curiously, it does not happen when I make a "Smallest File". However when I attach these pdfs to email, the spot colors appear black.
    I've been using 9 for a long time and I've been using Indesign 6 for a few months now. I'm on a Mac Pro, OSX 10.6.8. I can't figure out if there is something that was unchecked or checked that is causing this problem to come up seemingly out of nowhere.
    Any advice is much appreciated,
    Thanks!

    It was correct for Adobe to use the Lab alternate color space for display of Pantone spot colors. Why? Two reasons:
    (1)     InDesign and Illustrator are now consistent with Photoshop's behaviour with non-process color channels. This interoperability issue has been complained about for years.
    (2)     When one referred to the CMYK alternate color space values of Pantone colors, the question naturally comes up as to which CMYK color space those deviceCMYK values represent. Are those values for SWOP or Gracol or what? According to what Pantone told me personally years ago, they were SWOP, but not so-labelled. Thus, unless your output CMYK color space is SWOP, use of those CMYK colors is simply wrong!!! Using Lab alternate colors will allow whatever renders those spot colors in either RGB or CMYK to properly render them in the actual final color space!
    Unfortunately, there is nothing that Adobe can do to cause Apple's preview product to properly display these colors. By the way, this problem also afflicts the built-in PDF viewer in the iOS products as well as MacOS X. Fortunately, under MacOS, you can easily download and install the free Adobe Reader and have it do all the PDF display in lieu of Apple's preview. Although we do have Adobe Reader available for iOS, Apple does not let us replace preview in iOS for PDF preview. You must view in preview and send the file to Adobe Reader.
    Of course, if enough Apple users complained to Apple management about the numerous anomalies of its preview program, maybe after all these years, they might actually fix it to properly handle Lab colors (as well as transparency).

  • Critical Help:  Xcelsius 2008 (crashes on snapshot and preview mode?)

    I just upgraded to Xcelsius 2008................. everything seemed to work fine until I built my first model with Xcelsius 2008.
    For some reason, I can not place the Xcelsius 2008 into "Preview" mode.......... when it goes into preview mode is leaves out data on the charts......... and when I try a snapshot back to Excel to see what is wrong............ it totally crashes.... then Xcelsius 2008 and MS Excel shut down and have issues starting up?????? I never had this problem with Professional 4.5
    I am pretty familiar with MS Excel and Xcelsius (however, I do not understand why it would crash when I attempt to preview??); do you know if there is a fix or if others are having this problem?  Can you forward to an engineer??  Please, Please............ this has been a trying process....... I am questioning whether I should have really spent the $400 to upgrade.
    Also, I downloaded the SP1 zip files..... what files specifically do I use?  there is 50 or more files in that folder.
    Please help..........my only option is to delete Xcelsius 2008  and go back to the the old Professional version 4.5??   Thought I would check in with you...........Thanks for helping!!!!

    Hi, I had the same problem. I solved it just waiting more time.
    It happens when you're trying to make a snapshot of a very big excel with inside some "critical" formulas like VLOOKUP or SUMIF or COUNTIF. Are you using some of these formulas?
    If your answer is YES, what I can say to you is that when you make a snapshot you'll be able to open the excel only when you'll can to exit from the snapshot...(not when the time icon disappear )
    Try this way, and let me know if it's ok.

  • My preview mode icon doesn't work

    Just upgraded to CS3 master collection on Windows XP
    Very inexperienced on InDesign however. My preview mode icon does not work as it did on the CS2 version. I have to go view-screenmode-preview to see the preview mode - this is a bit of a slow way compared with just toggling the preview button as of old. But clicking the preview button just does nothing now. Any suggestions?

    Thank-you Peter. Yes, I was in single-column mode.
    I can see it was a pretty stupid question now, so thanks for not growling at me. Guess I deserved to be told to read the manual. But I certainly did a search first to see if I could find the answer on the forum and I couldn't. The keyboard shortcut will definitely be my most common future method, but everything else you said is also helpful and useful.
    This is my very first experience of the InDesign forum and it has been a good one, immediately helpful, just like my beloved GoLive forums which helped me build a career in webdesign.
    Some of my clients now expect print work from me and I managed to produce the goods with ID CS2 a few times but even that was still new to me when I upgraded! But since I don't think my clients can see the slightest difference between web desing and print publishing, I'm just going to have to learn. Luckily its a fascinating process.

  • Javascript works in Designer preview mode, but not when invoked via process

    I have a fragment consisting of a subform and a text object. The subform has the following Javascript for its initialize event:
    var cars = $data.input.cars.car.all;
    var showMe = false;
    for (var i = 0; i < cars.length; i++) {
    if(cars.item(i).color && cars.item(i).color.value == 'RED')
    showMe = true;
    break;
    if(!showMe) {
    this.presence = 'hidden';
    The code is supposed to loop through all my input XML data's cars, see if each car has a color element, and if so, see if the color is RED. If any of the cars have a color of RED, the fragment should be visible. Otherwise, it should be hidden.
    The Javascript works fine when I preview the fragment in Designer using a sample XML input file with no color element (i.e. the text in the fragment is hidden).
    The Javascript works fine in my main document (which has the fragment included in it) when in preview mode in Designer.
    The Javascript does not work when I invoke my process in LiveCycle server. I pass in data that has 1 car without a color element, and for some reason my fragment is visible.
    Is there something wrong with my Javascript? Is this the wrong way to check to see if an XML element is present? Is something else wrong?
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Andy

    I guess a more appropriate question might be:<br /><br />How can I tell if my XML input data does or does not contain an element?  Let's say I have<br /><br /><input><br />  <cars><br />   <car><br />     <make>VW</make><br />   </car><br />  </cars><br /></input><br /><br />How can I use Javascript to safely determine if the car has a <color> element?

  • Wrapper tag in preview mode

    Hello guys, I have an issue with my website.
    It seems that the wraping tag looks fine when in design mode (has the appropriate colour) however, when I switch to preview mode or live version wrapper colour  dissapears. What seems to be causing that?

        .img-right {float:right; margin-left:2px; margin-right:2px; margin-top:2px; margin-bottom:2px;}

    Your HTML has no </head> tag.
    Add this to your #wrapper rule -
    overflow:hidden
    The problem was that you are not clearing your floated elements within #wrapper before closing #wrapper, causing #wrapper to collapse vertically to a single line - it collapses to the size of its NON-FLOATED content.  Since there is no non-floated content, It just goes all the way down to a thin line.  The overflow style when used with "hidden | scroll" will force a new block-formatting context within that container, effectively clearing all of the interior floats.

  • Broken preview mode

    This is how my website looks in dreamweaver:
    However this is what I get in my firefox browser while in preview mode:
    Can anyone tell me what did I do wrong? Full path:
    file:///D:/mywebsite.com/wwwroot/index.html
    And another question, for some reason the content div tag has moved to the right side of the screen for no particular reason,  which makes the spacing between the left navigation and the content too big (too much space between them) I can't find anything wrong in the code:

  • Text placed within a blank composition thumbnail causes errors in preview mode?

    Greetings Adobe Community,
    I'm having some trouble placing text within a blank compositions thumbnail. While in design mode everything is fine and dandy, however, as soon as I preview my design, both in browser and preview mode the thumbnail gets displaced. It's very annoying and I can't seem to stop it from happening.
    I've tried to upload pictures detailing the issue but I keep getting this message (below) which should probably be a question topic of it's own.
    "An error occurred trying to retrieve data from server. Please try again in a few minutes. Error Code: Object doesn't support property or method 'createContextualFragment'"
    Anyway I uploaded the images to photobucket.

  • Report not printing in preview mode

    i have a report that has real strange behavior. we are using the forms server to produce this report in preview mode. this report will produce the desired results for some of the reports. but on other reports this pulls up a blank pdf document. on the webserver the pdf is produced properly in cache. the pdf can be opened on the server and viewed fine. does anyone have any ideas of why this is occuring.
    thanks

    hello,
    which webserver are you using? did you try to copy the file to your client and display it locally, just to see, if the client-side-acrobat is working fine ?

  • Images are not loading - but work in Preview mode

    Hi -
    I was wondering if anyone can help me.  I'm kind of new to Dreamweaver and I can't seem to figure this out on my own.
    I'm using Dreamweaver 8.  I developed a web page based on a template in which everything works perfectly in "Preview" mode on all browsers.  But when I uploaded the files to my remote hosting, the template based images (found in the "images" folder) are not loading on the page. The images that I added to the template myself, found in the same "images" folder ($200,000 in ..., and picture at bottom) are loading.  So some of the images in the images folder are loading some are not.
    I've checked the Images folder on the remote site, and they all seem to be there.  I've also checked for broken links, and I'm not getting any (I don't know if that would help w/ missing images or not, but I'm trying everything I can think of).  I also checked to see if there is a separate CSS style sheet, and there wasn't one supplied with the template (there is some CSS info in the code on the html page).  The image sizes are all small enough as well.  Can anyone help me with this?
    You can view one of the pages at: http://www.200kin5months.com/squeeze-video.html
    Thank you in advance to anyone who might be able to help!
    Stacey
    PS - I've attached a screenshot from Dreamweaver Preview to show what it is supposed to look like.

    Your Web server is running on an operating system that is case-sensitive. You appear to have uploaded an Images folder, but not an images folder.
    You do not have a file here:
    images/squeeze-video_425x344_r9_c6.jpg
    But you do have a file here:
    Images/squeeze-video_425x344_r9_c6.jpg
    So you'll need to either change all your image/<whatever> links to point to Images/<whatever>, or upload another folder named images.
    Or, if you want to use a single folder, and if your local file system is not case-sensitive, you might be able to do it in DW's file panel. Here is a method that you might use to have all of them in a folder named images.
    BACK UP YOUR SITE FILES
    Rename Images to Foo (allow DW to update links)
    Rename Foo to images (allow DW to update links)
    Upload the images folder and any/all files that DW changed
    Delete the online Images folder

  • How to change background color in preview mode?

    After entering by chance presentation mode and had to quit indesign for exit (esc key doesn't work on my iMac), I found that the background color in preview mode is now black instead of grey.
    There is any way to change it?

    In Edit- preferences go to Guides and Pasteboard and choose preview color
