Preview search doesn't work for all ASCII characters

The title pretty much says it all. The behavior is completely broken. Any searches for words that contain a non-letter, non-number ASCII, non-standard punctuation character, e.g., @#$%^&*()+, kind of ignores the special characters. For example:
Find: C++
Finds all pages with the text "C++", but doesn't highlight that text. Instead, it highlights all "C" and "c" characters, and the find counts for those pages are the number of C characters. Note that it neither highlights nor counts C characters on pages that don't contain "C++"
Find: "C++"
Finds about half the pages and the find count is correct, but it highlights only C characters that are followed by ++ OR other special characters, e.g. it highlights the C in "C#".

  • "Move Current Track Automation Data to Region" doesn't work for all

    I have been using the 'Move Current Track Automation Data to Region' and while it works fine for some types of automation data like channel volume, pan and some plugin parameters, it doesn't work for all of them.
    I haven't done exhaustive research into which parameters work and which don't, but most of the parameters for individual voices within Ultrabeat don't - which is annoying as that is what I was trying to use it for.
    Any ideas about this, or workarounds?

    OK, well an update on this in case anyone's interested.
    With some further experimentation I have discovered that this problem did not exist in Logic 7 - ie you can move current track automation data for individual Ultrabeat voices to the region.
    It's also possible to move automation data for individual Ultrabeat voices using 'Move All Track Automation Data to Region,' so I suppose this is a kind of workaround, though it can be annoying if you don't want to move all track automation data.
    I'm now assuming this is a bug in Logic 8; is there any way to convert a Logic 8 project to work in Logic 7, as this along with the touch tracks bug is making working in Logic 8 very frustrating?

  • Exported UTI doesn't work for all account

    Hello,
    We have a QuickTime component that permits to play files with our video codec. These files also have a specific extension.
    It works fine with QuickTime 7 that allows "anything" content type. But on Snow Leopard, with QuickTime 10, we can not open file with our private extension. When we open QuickTime, our files are in grey and we can not click on it.
    What I've done is to export an UTI from my application info.plist file. This export says that my UTI with the right filename extension is conform to "public.movie". I have done it from the original admin account of the machine.
    What is strange, is that this modification has an impact on the others accounts I have created (standard or admin) but not on this original admin account.
    I mean, on the others accounts, the files with our extension are well seen as movie file and can be played with QuickTime Player. So the Uniform Type I export is well interpreted when I log with a different account.
    I do not understand what is wrong with this original account. The behavior is also the same if I am loged as root.
    I have made a repair disk permissions but it didn't change anything.
    Right now I don't know what to do in order to have this export to work for this particular account...

    Use Quicktime 7 on the Snow Leopard Computers to playback this video. On the Snow Leopard computer quicktime 7 should be in the Utility folder. If not download Quicktime 7 for Snow Leopard:

    Scroll to the top of the page for instruction on how to install Qt 7.
    Quicktime X can't playback all video formats/codecs. It's limited to a few so use Qt 7.

  • Catalog Search doesn't work for Catalog type BI EE

    Hi, All!
    Just noticed an issue with catalog search functionality in BI Publisher application: If BI Publisher uses BI EE catalog type, then search never returns results, always says nothing was found. But when i change catalog type to Filesystem and restart Publisher, then search works fine and finds needed reports.
    Tested this on 11.1.1.5 and 11.1.1.6. Can someone confirm this behavior? Or maybe this is known issue and you can advice some fix/workaround? Would be much appreciated, thanks!

    Oracle BI Publisher - File system - Search option working fine.
    Oracle BI EE - catalog - Search option not working always showing "did not match any documents".

    Is there any solution to the corrupted registry problem if
    you're running XP HomeEdition?

    I had the same problem none of that works...
    This is what I did:
    Using the adm profile, go to the windows folder, find the
    regedit icon, open it, then scroll all the way down until you find
    the shockwave files. Right click on each and the click on
    permissions, give each user persmission and do it for all the
    shockwave flash floders you see, it should be about 9.

  • Spotlight search doesn't work--for first letters H and N only! (iOS 5.1)

    I have been reading a thread about spotlight not working until people updated to 5.1. Well, I have the reverse problem. I updated to 5.1 a few days ago, and now I can search for everything EXCEPT words that begin with H or N. When I try that, the enlarged letters on the keyboard freeze for 10 seconds, then disappear. Although the N or H appears in the search screen, no search results appear. I have tried shutting off various programs but that does not help. Anyone else see this problem?

    Thanks, but I have done that already several time. I also closed all open applications, and I also Reset All Settings. No improvement. BTW I am using an iPhone 4.

  • Mail search doesn't work at all / disabled?

    I had some spotlight issues and the index was successfully rebuilt.  Mail however, still has a disabled search functionality.  If I enter a term in the upper right search field no results appear.  Rebooting and restoring Mail don't help.  Mail is not excluded in the system prefs spotlight settings.
    Any idea?

    These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

    The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear.

    The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
    Please don’t post any other kind of diagnostic report, such as hang logs—they're very long and not helpful.

    Try to update iTunes.
    Or - Remove iTunes from your system, download from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    And install.

    i guess you have updated Yosemite not clean install.
    Anyway, for me updates not worked 100% stable. i always do clean install and this is the best way to go, only problem is that there are no official way from apple to make a bootable drive - all the time this is big problem...

    It appears this question has been asked numerous times, but there is no response from Verizon. What's the deal here? I don't want to call Verizon because when I do, I'm inundated with calls from them, which I'm trying to decrease not increase. Honestly, Verizon reminds me of an ex who takes a break up badly, and I don't want to encourage continued calls, but I need to know how to stop this.

    It does work.  The problem is that anonymous call rejection doesn't do what you want it to do!    ACR blocks calls from people who withhold their telephone number by entering the ACR code on their phone.  "Unavailable" and "no name" callers have not used the ACR code to block their telephone number, so the call comes through.   It's a loophole in the regulation and there is no way for the consumer to get around it.
    If you feel motivated enough, a letter to the FCC or your congressman asking them to fix the loophole is your best recourse.

    I am writing e-mails on a daily basis in different languages (English, German, Spanisch, Russian, and French).
    And, of course, I have set my Mail spelling checker to <Multilingual>. It works just fine with the first three languages. But it “doesn't know” the french words. Neither checks it the russian words at all...
    If I turn <Francais> on, then it works, but the other languages don't (of course).
    Have you guys an idea???

    Seems like it should know French. Is French on your list in system prefs/international/languages? If not, use the Edit button to add it.
    Neither checks it the russian words at all...
    OS X has never come with a Russian spell checker.

    I don't have apple haeadphones anymore and I realized that not all headphones work on my ipod4. I have to turn my headphones to a certain angle to get them to work all the time. help?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.

  • Since downloading the iOS5.1 software to a 4th Gen ipod Touch Facetime doesn't work for all contacts. Any ideas?

    When trying to facetime a contact (which worked prior to update) it says that person is 'unavailable for facetime'. Some contacts work and some don't. Facetime is enabled in settings.
    Also can message some people but not others - not necessarily the same people that can't be facetimed.
    Anyone experienced similar or got any ideas?
