    Hello,
    Variant pricing configuring steps
Can anyone explain the steps in details for configuring this with explanation of class type.
Full points will be awarded for good answers.
    Thanks,
    Anil Rajpal

    Hi
    STEP 1: CREATE CHARACTERISTICS: -   T.CODE: CT04
Logistics , central functions , classification , characteristics , create,
    Go for value tab page
    save it .
Go for the change mode and change the status to RELEASED
Create another characteristic Namely called CAR_COLOUR with char value as white and black and follow the same above procedure.
Step 2: Create Pricing Characteristic CT04
    SAVE IT
Go for change mode and change the status to RELEASED AND SAVE IT
    STEP 3: CREATE CLASS CL02
    GO TO CHAR TAB PAGE
    Save it
Again go for change mode and change the status to RELEASED
Step 4: Create configurable material with material type kmat: mm01
    Go for mrp3 view
Give strategy group =25 ( make to order ) and rest as usual.
    Step 5:
Create sub material masters for finished products
Like : white, black, normal, and disc.
Step 6: create BILL OF MATERIAL (BOM)
    PRESS ENTER
SELECT THE LINE ITEM AND GO OF EXTRAS, OBJECT DEPENDENCIES , EDITOR,
    SELECT SELECTION CONDITION
PUT THE SYNTAX AS CHARACTERISTIC = u2018CHAR VALUEu2019
CHECK THE SYSTAX ERROR (CRTL + F2)
    IF NO ERROR  THEN SAVE.
STEP 7: CREATE CONFIGURATION PROFILE: CU41
    SELECT MATERIAL AND PRESS ENTER,
SELECT THE LINE ITEM AND GOTO PROFILE DETAILS
Select the user interface tab page and click the setting button
Select the appropriate option as u like
No we have to link the characteristics and values
For the above , for the screen cu41, go for extras , object dependencies, editor
    SYNTAX  : $ SELF.PRICING CHARACTERISTIC = u2018CHAR.VALUEu2019 IF $SELF.CHARACTERISTIC = u2018CHAR.VALUEu2019
    Save it
Come back and again save it
    Step 8:
Place the variant condition in the pricing procedure
    Procedure zvaa01
    Create condition record vk11
    Save it
Now entire configuration was done for variant configuration
    N0w create a sales order

  • Variant pricing - steps requested

    Hi,
I created configurable material Envelope, assigned variant class 300 to material.
then created characteristics, ZSIZE and gave values like DIN C4, DIN C5.
then created class ZENVELOPE and assigned characteristics to it.
I want to do variant pricing?.
    How to proceed?
    Thanks

    Here are the detailed steps
    - create another characterstics 'ZPRICE' and go directly to  Addnl data tab. enter table name as SDCOM and in field name enter VKOND. The system would copy required information from the data dictionary.
    - go back to characterstic ZSIZE. Go to value tab and select DIN C4.
from menu bar select GoTo - Extras - Object Dependencies - Editor - select procedures.
    In front of 000010 enter $self.ZPRICE='DIN C4'.
similarly repeat step for DIN C5.
    - go back to class ZENVELOPE and assign your newly created characterstic ZPRICE
    - go to VK11 and enter condition record as VA00 and give values for DIN C4 and DIN C5.
    - create your order and a pop box would come up giving option to choose DIN C4 or DIN C5. Basing on option you choose system would automatically determine price for this variant.
    - Remember to declare material price for your main item Envelope.
    - If you have any problems post your message again.

  • Pricing step by step procedure

    Dear Experts,
pls send me the pricing notes ( step by step procedures) at my mail id
    [email protected]
    always reward point ...
    Thanks b4 hand
    Vaibhav

    Hi Vaibhav,
Following are the steps you need to follow for pricing.
    Reward if this helps you...
    PRICING (PG)
This concept is based on condition technique.
    It’s the combination of:
    1)     Condition Tables
    2)     Access Sequence
    3)     Condition Types
    4)     Pricing Procedure
    1. Condition Tables: - Condition table contain the key fields for maintaining condition records.  I.e. in other words condition records are stored in condition table.
Note: - A condition type can have multiple condition tables.
Note: - A condition table can be used for multiple condition types.
    Defining condition tables: -
    SPRO
    Sales and Distribution
    Basic functions
    Pricing
    Pricing control
    Define condition tables [V/03]
    Create condition tables
Enter a table number beyond 600
From the field catalogue, which is there on the right side of the screen select the required key fields.
To get the valid on / valid to fields while maintaining the condition records we need to check the field “with validity period”.
    Go to icon Technical View
The fields which are marked, as footer field appears at the footer level at the condition records and the remaining fields appears at the key level.
Select the Icon Generate for generating the condition table.
To save the condition table, select the button Local object.
    2.     Access Sequence: - Access sequence is a search strategy with the help of which the system gets the valid condition records.  It contains the required condition tables in the required order.
Note: - If required an access sequence can be used or assigned to multiple
    Condition types.
Note: - The order in which the condition table are placed in access sequence
is important generally it is most specific to most generic
    Defining Access Sequence: -
    SPRO
    Sales and distribution
    Basic functions
    Pricing
    Pricing control
    Define access sequences
    Maintain access sequences
Go to new entries and define the access sequence.
Select the defined access sequence and go to accesses.
Go to new entries and place the condition tables in the required order
While placing the condition tables check the field “exclusive”.  By doing so if the system finds a valid condition record in the first condition table it will not go to the next condition table
Select the condition table and go to fields the system gives the warning message “the field assignment has not yet been made” say enter till we get the fields.
Repeat the same step for all the condition tables and save it.
Note: - After defining the access sequence assign it to the corresponding condition type.
    3. Condition Types: -
    Defining condition types: -
    SPRO
    Sales and Distribution
    Basic functions
    Pricing
    Pricing control
    Define condition types.
    Maintain condition types.
Functionality of a condition type: -
Access Sequence: - In this field specify the corresponding access sequence for the condition type.
Condition class: - It is the preliminary structuring of condition types.
Ex: - Surcharges or discounts and price
Plus/Minus: - If we specify negative here a condition type becomes discount and if we specify positive it becomes surcharge.
Calculation type: - Determines how the system calculates price discounts and surcharges in a condition type.
For Ex: - the system can calculate a price as a fixed amount or as a percentage based on the quantity, weight, or volume.
Condition Category: - It’s a classification of conditions according to pre-defined categories.
Rounding Rule: - The rule that determines how the system rounds of condition values during pricing.
Manual Entries: - Indicator which controls the priority with in a condition type between a condition enter manually and a condition automatically determined by the system.
Amount / Percent: - If we check this field the amount / percentage of a condition type can be change during the document processing.
Quantity Relation: - Specifies whether the conversion factors for the units of measure in the condition type can be change during document processing.
Delete: - If we check this field the condition type can be deleted during the sales document processing.
Value: - If we check this field the condition value can be changed during the document processing.
Calculation type: - If we check this field the calculation type can be change during the document processing.
Item condition: - If we check this field for a condition types it becomes item condition, which has to be enter at the item level only.
Header condition: - If we check this field for a condition type it becomes header condition, which has to be entered at the header level only
    Ex: - RB00 (Discount).
Note: - After entering the header condition type click on the button activate.
Note: - The condition amount of the header condition is copied as it is to all the line items in the document
Group condition: - If we check a header condition as a group condition the condition amount is distributed proportionately among all the line items in the sales document.
Valid from & valid to: - specifies the beginning and ending of the validity date that the system automatically proposes when we create condition records for the condition types.
Scale Basis: - Determines how the system interprets a pricing scale in a condition, for Ex: - the scale can be based on quantity weight and volume.
Check value: - Indicates whether the sale rates must be entered in ascending or descending order.
Note: - Header condition won’t be having access sequence.
    4. Pricing Procedure: - Pricing procedure contains all the required condition types in the required order.
    Defining Pricing Procedure: -
    SPRO
    Sales and Distribution
    Basic functions
    Pricing
    Pricing control
    Define and assign pricing procedures.
    Maintain pricing procedures
Go to new entries and define the pricing procedure.
Select the defined pricing procedure and go to control data
Go to new entries and place the required condition type in a specified order.
Step: - Specifies the number that determines the sequence of a condition type with in a procedure.
Counter: - Specifies the sequence number of a condition type with in a step in the procedure.
Condition type: - Specify the condition type.
From & To: - If you specify the reference steps in these fields, the condition values of the two steps specified and the condition values of the steps in between are totaled.
Manual: - If we check this field the condition type is only included in determination either if they are entered manually or if they are transferred from an external process such as costing.
Mandatory: - Indicates whether a condition type is mandatory when the system carries out pricing using the pricing procedure.
Statistical: - This indicator causes a condition type to be set in the document statistically only.
Print ID: - Controls the issue of condition lines when printing the documents such as order conformations or invoices. [X]
Sub Total: - Controls whether and in which fields the condition amounts or subtotals are stored.
Requirement: - For the condition type to be executed in the sales document the requirement specified here must be satisfied. [2]
Alternative calculation type: - Specifies the alternative formula to the calculation type in the standard system that determines a condition.
Alternative condition base value: - Specifies the formula for determining the condition basis as an alternative to the standard.
Account key: - This field along with few other fields enables the system to post the sales values to different General Ledger Accounts.
    Ex: -
    ERL          Sales Revenues
    ERS          Sales Deductions
    ERF          Freight Revenue
Accruals: - This is exclusively for rebate condition types. [B001 & B002]
Key, which identifies various types of General Ledger accounts for accruals posting.
Note: - to maintain the requirements and routines use the transaction code
    [VOFM]
    Pricing Procedure Determination: -
    SPRO
    Sales and Distribution
    Basic Functions
    Pricing
    Pricing control
    Define and Assign Pricing Procedures.
    Define Pricing procedure determination [OVKK]
We have to assign the pricing procedure to the combination of Sales Organisation, Distribution Channel, Division, Document Pricing Procedure and customer pricing procedure.
Sales Organisations     Distribution Channels     Divisions     Doc. Pricing Procedure     Cus. Pricing Procedure
    1000     10     00     A     01 & 02
    2000     12     00     A     01 & 02

  • Insert new pricing Step

    Dear Members,
I want to insert new condition type between 2  steps but unfortunately, I don;t have any number in between these 2. what is the alternative ?
I have step 310 and step 311, Now I want to include a condition type between these 2 steps. Please let me know.
    Thank u.
    madhu

    Hi Madhu
In pricing procedure we have a step Counter , so maintain those condition types in counter only
So as you have step 310 go to new entries ->maintain step 310 counter 1 and maintain condition type and step 310 counter 2 and maintain 2nd condition type then those condition types will be between 310 and 311 steps only

  • Pricing condition- Header

    Hi,
I have a problem with a pricing condition. It is a the moment both a header and item condition but my customer want it to be only a header condition.
I can not get this to work as it is a condition that is an automatic freight condition with different stages depending on the value in the order. There are an access sequence connected to the condition and according to that the item condition can not be removed.
Is there anyone else who know how it could be possible to solve this? I want a condition to be automatic with stages depending on the order value and I only want to have the condition on header level.
    Thanks for the help,
    Ulrika Nilsson

Please go to the pricing procedure screen (VOK0 transaction) You will see different pricing steps within the pricing procedure. Also you will see a column "Reqt" associated with each pricing condition.
Identify the pricing condition type for automatic freight conditions and add a custom requirement" say for instance 699. Prior to this activity go to VOFM transaction -> Requirements -> Pricing and create a new routine 699. (may need access key)
Once this routine is created and saved, 2 form routines will be created. Add the following sy-subrc statements as shown below and activate the program. Make sure the routines are added to the transport.
    FORM KOBED_699. "Header Pricing
    sy-subrc = 0. "successful
    ENDFORM.
    FORM KOBEV_699. "Item Pricing.
    sy-subrc = 4. "not successful
    ENDFORM.

Pricing Step 1 :we want to calculate Taxes on the Total of 'Basic price + freight amount - Special discount " = Rs XYZ value.
Now on Rs XYZ , the entry tax has to be calculated??? = Rs ABC
Pricing Step 2 : Now Value Rs XYZ + ET = Rs ABC
Now On Rs ABC VAT has to be calculated .
Consider above pricing is only condition and steps and pricing procedure for domestic level , so revert with detailed step by step .
Total pricing should cover here ..
For above requirement i need Pricing steps in detail and Tax code (In TAXINJ procedure).
    Thanks

    Dear Bharati,
In VK31, it should allow to enter multiple conditions at a time. Any ways, after saving the record, come out and then do again, with next validity date
    e.g
    Price     from      to
100        Jan      Feb   Save then come out
    next
    price    From     to
    120      feb       march

  • Third party MM pricing procedure

    Hi,
Could you pls. explain the pricing steps involved in Third party MM pricing procedure?
    Thanks & Regards
    M.Rifaie

    Hai,
    Explain clearly the requirement?

  • Duplicate R/3 custom requirement in IPC  -- z table and comm. structure

    Dom,
The ZSITCATPRI has composit key of:
MANDT, VKORG, MTPOS, KSCHL, PSTYV, KOBED.  So the condition Type is part of the primary key.
The records in ZSITCATPRI table has KOBED=000 (no requirement), 002 or 022 (standard SAP requirement, I see them in the SAPStandardExit.checkRequirement(), I don't need to worry about these requirement, right?).  Should I code for 000 in the switch statement in checkRequirement(), thinking return simply false?
I am not sure how to run the field catalog transaction code /SAPCND/CTFC, we seem unable to directly run it?  With double checking, we are certain that ZZPSTYV is added to the communication structure (Item), but ZZKSCHL and ZZKOBED are not yet, but my middleware colleague is working on adding these fields to the communication structure now.
Your previous posting asked "Now, what is immediately apparent here is that these routines must be coded and available. I am not convinced that all the preparation work has been done by your colleagues.
In particular, I am interested by this Z table as one of the key fields is Condition Type. I don't know how they can provide this in the communication structure as the communication structure is at pricing document level, whereas Condition Type is at pricing step level."  Looking at the key structure of the ZSITCATPRI  table, do you still think our design would pose problems?
also, I noticed that the switch statements in the determinRelevantAttributesForRequirement() method has case 701 for both header and item, why 701?
    Appreciate,
    Yanhui

    Hi Yanhui
-> If you are only using standard routines, that's great. You are right, you need to explicitly check for the 000.
-> You can access the field catalog in the IMG, or by typing /n/SAPCND/CTFC in the command box.
-> You can't provide KSCHL in the communication structure as that is at item level. There is n condition types to 1 item.
-> 701 is probably from my cut'n'paste! You won't be able to just insert my code and compile - it's just meant as a starting point. Change it to your routine number.
    Cheers
    Dom

  • Calculation of Packing & Excise in PO

    Dear Functionals ,
I have a querry in MM Pricing . i have created the condition type ZPAC (packing & Forwarding) & maintained the conditions in calculation schema   in MM Pricing & accordingly Excise related conditions in TAXINN procedure.
As per our client the calculation must be the excise duty some times must include the base price plus the Packing charges & some times with out calculating the packing charges .How the link can be prepared as the condition & excise are maintained in two different pricing procedure .
Pls help to solve the calculation .
    Regards,
    Suresh.R

    Hi,
You need to arrive NET price in Purchase Order which need to flow to tax procedure as u201CBase Priceu201D where BASB condition type play vital role  in tax procedure(OBYZ t.code) with routine 362 is assigned in u201CBasTyu201D column. You can manage all by having only one MM pricing procedure. You have following options:
    Option-1:
You can add P & F Charge to NET PRICE of Purchase Order and then excise will calculate from NET PRICE where you have following setting in MM pricing
    Steps-Couu2014Condition type--Cond Descri--- -
    From -
    TO
    10----0PB00 Gross Price--
    20----0 R000Discount % on Gross10--
    30----0Subtotal1030-
    40----0---ZPACP & F Charge30--
    50----0ZFREDelivery Ch(Fixed)30--
    60----0TOTAL3050--
    Option-2:
With above setting, if  P & F Charge NIL, then do not entry any value in  ZPAC condition type, so  NET PRICE is only Gross price minus discount, then excise will calculate
    Option-3:
If business needs, some time P & F Charge will add to NET PRICE of Purchase Order & some other time P & F Charge not added to NET PRICE of PO and that P & F Charge to be capture separate G/L account. In that case create two condition types for P & F Charge, one (ZPAC) for adding to PO NET PRICE & other one(ZPA1) for taking cost separate G/L account. Keep condition category  B for condition type ZPA1 in control-1 & select accrual check box in control data-2.In MM pricing (M/08), keep an accrual key with " ZPA1" condition type and assign accrual key to delivery G/L account in OBYC
You can have following setting in MM pricing
    Steps-Couu2014Condition type--Cond Descri--- -
    From -
    TO
    10----0PB00 Gross Price--
    20----0 R000Discount % on Gross10--
    30----0Subtotal1030-
    40----0---ZPACP & F Charge30--
    50----0---ZPA1P & F Cha.Se30--
    60----0ZFREDelivery Ch(Fixed)30--

  • Price update from Original Material to copied Material Master

    I have a scenario,
We are selling Raw materials to outside companies who have shortage of materials on Loan Basis. Once they have materials, they will return the materials within a time period. If they don't have the materials and unable to return within the said time, they will make the payment.
We will follow the normal sales process to sell the item to the customer.
    1. creating sales order,
    2. Outbound Delivery, and
    3. Billing
Return process when receiving the materials from the company.
    1. Billing Cancellation
    2. PGI Cancellation
Since this is not an actual sale, hence we need to maintain selling price same as the purchase price.
We are planning to extend the Raw Materials to Sales View in the material master. However, we came to know that this will be Violation of Act. Hence we are planning to create a new material by copying the existing Raw Material master but the Material type will be Issue on Loan. This material will have sales view and purchase view.
This material will have a separate Valuation Class. Price control indicator will be V, since the item should be valuated at Purchase Price and the purchase price will keep changing as and when the price changes. This moving average price will be used as selling price.
The same price needs to be updated in the Sales Order automatically from the Loan Material Master when selling the Loan Material.
Now, the problem we are facing is, if we create a new Loan Material by copying Raw Material master with ROH material type, how will the price update in New Loan Material since, we will not purchase the Loan Material. We are purchasing the original item as raw material. Hence, this will not update the Loan Material Price automatically and the price will remain unchanged.
    Please suggest a work around?

    Hi,
Let me explain to you how I am proceeding.
    Step 1:
Create new material master by copying existing Raw Material with Issue on Loan material type. I am assigning a new Valuation Class in this material master. Also, we keep the pricing
    Step 2:
Transfer stock from old material to new material in MB1B with movement type 309.
Step 3: Issue of Loan Material to Customer on loan basis.
Creating Sales Order, PGI and Billing
Step 4: Receipt of Item back from Customer
    Sales Return process.
Step 5: In case Customer does not return goods, then we will collect payment from them
In the entire process we need to maintain the selling price at purchase price of the original material. Can you suggest any work around, in case this process is not advisable.

If you run into difficulties, don’t hesitate to search our community forums or post a question. One of our volunteer forum experts will be happy to assist you.
What types of files can I upload to convert to an eBook?
Before we can convert your manuscript to an eBook in EPUB file format, it must be saved as a properly formatted Microsoft Word (DOC or DOCX), Rich Text Format (RTF), or Open Office (ODT) file.
For more information about file types compatible for use in our EPUB converter, see Supported File Types.
Can I use the same file I uploaded for my print book to create my eBook?
You can certainly create a copy of your print book manuscript file to use as a starting point; however, eBooks are formatted very differently than their print book cousins.
Your original manuscript was probably created to closely resemble the format of a print book, which requires, margins, a table of contents, headers, footers, page numbers, page breaks, etc. eBooks, on the other hand, are composed of reflowable text, do not have pages as we think of them, and include an electronic table of contents allowing readers to navigate to sections or chapters.
For more information about formatting your manuscript, see Prepare Your Manuscript for eBook Conversion.
What is an eBook Marketing Image?
Think of the eBook Marketing Image as the eBook’s “cover.” It is the image shoppers see when browsing online for eBooks and on their eReader’s “bookshelf” when they purchase and download your work.
When creating and editing your Marketing Image, you should design the image to capture a shopper’s attention. The art and text should be clear, crisp, and easily read when viewed as a thumbnail.
The Marketing Image consists only of the front cover art, which should include the book title and author name. Unlike print books, there is no back cover or dust jacket flaps on an eBook cover that can be used to provide author information or a synopsis of your work. Therefore the Marketing Image could be the first, and last, impression a shopper has of your work.
The Marketing Image must be created to the following specifications:
    Dimensions: at least 612 x 792 pixels (8.5” x 11” or 21.59 cm x 27.94 cm)
Resolution: 72dpi or higher to provide a clear image when viewed in multiple sizes
Do I need an ISBN for my eBook?
You do not need an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) if you only want to sell your eBook in the Lulu Marketplace.
You will need an ISBN if you want to sell your eBook on sites other than the Lulu Marketplace, such as the Kindle Store, the Apple iBookstore, the Kobo Store, and the Barnes & Noble NOOK® Bookstore.
Please Note: All eBooks published with an ISBN and set to a status of Private or General Access qualify for retail distribution. For more information about this process, see eBook Distribution FAQ.
Can I use the same ISBN for my eBook as I used for my print book?
No. The ISBN identifies the title, author, publisher, and format of a book. Therefore, a different ISBN is required for each format (hardcover, paperback, eBook, etc.).
How much should I charge for my eBook?
Only you know the worth of your work.
You can get an idea of a competitive price range by studying your intended market. How much are authors in your genre or area of expertise charging for their work? Do you have the same name recognition in your field? Are you just getting started as a writer and want to get your work into as many hands as possible? Is a print version of your book also available for purchase and if so, do you want to offer a discount on the eBook version?
Rather than answering your question with even more questions, here are few points to consider when pricing your eBook:
    Lulu Marketplace
You can offer your eBook as a free download or sell it for any price greater than or equal to $0.99.
Important Note: The Lulu creator revenue split is calculated on income above $0.99. For example, if you charge $2.99 for your eBook, your income for each eBook sold in the Lulu Marketplace will be $1.80, which is 90% of $2.00. For the mathematically inclined: Lulu Marketplace eBook Creator Revenue = .90(price – $0.99)
iBookstore or Barnes & Noble NOOK® Bookstore:
Retail channels also have rules governing acceptable minimum and maximum list prices. Each channel may adjust your price to comply with their pricing policies. Use this eBook Retailer Price & Revenue Calculator to see what your eBook will sell for on these retailers' sites and estimate the revenue you will earn from each sale.
    Amazon Kindle and Kobo Bookstores
Some retailers operate as resellers. This means they pay the wholesale price to a distributor when your eBook sells. Since these retailers are buying your book from a middleman at a set price, they can resell your eBook at any price they like, including a discounted price. Under the reseller model you will always make the same revenue as displayed in the retail pricing step for each book sold by that retailer, regardless of the sale price.
Once your eBook is published, you can view and edit your eBook's retail pricing and distribution options from the My Projects > Manage button.
IMPORTANT NOTES: When you select Kindle and/or Kobo distribution, Barnes & Noble converts to the reseller revenue model. At this time Amazon Kindle and Kobo distribution are not available to authors residing in Australia.
Why can’t I sell my PDF eBook on sites other than Lulu.com?
While PDFs are simple to create and great for reading on a large monitor or laptop screen, they are usually created as fixed text documents (i.e. the reader cannot choose the font or font size). As such, PDFs are not easily read on smaller screens such as those found on eReader devices.
Due to this limitation, our retail partners prefer eBooks in EPUB file format. These types of eBooks allow text to be optimized for all displays and reading on both large screens and small devices such as smartphones and eReaders.

  • EBook Distribution FAQ

    What is eBook distribution?
If you are considering selling your eBook on retail sites other than Lulu.com, your eBook must include a unique International Standard Book Number (ISBN), comply with our retail partners’ distribution guidelines, and pass both Lulu’s and our retail partners’ quality assurance reviews.
Your eBook will be eligible for distribution if you:
Select Sell this book in the first step of the eBook Publishing Wizard
Apply an ISBN to the project
Create it as or convert it to EPUB format
Comply with all eBook distribution guidelines
How can I get my eBook distributed to other retailers such as the Kindle Bookstore, the Apple iBookstore, the NOOK® bookstore, and the Kobo Bookstore?
When you publish an eBook in EPUB format that includes an ISBN, you will see a pricing and distribution step in the publishing wizard. In this step you will enter your retail price and select retail distribution options. Your projected revenue for each selected retailer will be displayed. Your book will enter the distribution process once you complete the publishing wizard.
Following publication, you can review and edit your price and retail selections from the My Projects  page. Click the Manage distribution button next to the project to view and edit distribution options.
Will my eBook be available for purchase on Amazon.com?
Lulu's eBook distribution options include the Kindle Bookstore on Amazon.com.
One of my distribution options is "Kobo and More," which online retailers are included in this option?
The Kobo and More distribution option includes all online eBook retailers included in the Ingram CoreSource eBook distribution network. This network includes specialty bookstores that offer regional and curated content. Here is a link to a current list of Ingram's online eBook distribution partners.
How much does it cost to place my eBook in distribution?
There is no charge for submitting your eBook for distribution.
What is an eBook Quality Assurance Review?
When you choose retail distribution for your eBook, it is submitted to our Distribution Team for a Quality Assurance (QA) review. Your eBook will then be reviewed to ensure it meets our retailers’ distribution requirements. If your eBook does not meet these requirements, it will be rejected for distribution and you will be notified via email of the rejection reason. You may then revise your project and resubmit it for an additional QA review.
Important Note: The QA review is a technical review, not a review of your content.
Will I be notified when my book passes Lulu’s eBook Quality Assurance Review?
Yes. When your eBook passes the Lulu QA Review, we will send you an email to alert you that your eBook has been passed to the retail distributors you selected in the publishing wizard or Manage Distribution page.
The eBook’s distribution status will be set to Processed. If you chose to distribute your work to the iBookstore, the Available on the iBookstore badge will also be applied by Lulu when we submit your eBook to Apple for review.
Please Note: The Processed status only indicates that your eBook has been reviewed by Lulu and submitted to the retailer. It must then also pass the retailer’s QA review before it will be available for purchase on the retailer’s site.
You can track your eBook’s progress through the distribution process from the Manage Distribution page. For more information about distribution statuses and action alerts, see How to Use the eBook Manage Distribution Page.
My eBook was rejected for distribution. What do I do now?
If your eBook is rejected because it does not meet eBook distribution requirements, you can revise the project to correct the issues discovered during the QA review and resubmit it for another review.
For more information about why eBooks are rejected for distribution, see Top 10 Reasons Why Your eBook Was Rejected.
Why is it necessary for Lulu and the retailer to review my eBook?
The Lulu Distribution Team verifies that your eBook meets current distribution requirements. Retailers then confirm that your eBook is not in violation of their publishing terms and conditions, which can change at any time and varies between retailers.
How long will it take for my eBook to appear on a retailer’s site?
When you submit your eBook for distribution, it is queued with all other eBooks awaiting review. On average, the Lulu team will review your eBook within a week of submission.
If your eBook passes the Lulu QA review, it will be submitted to the selected retailers for final review. The eBook distribution status will be updated to Processed.
If your book passes the retailer’s review, it will be queued for addition to the retailer’s online catalog and should be available for purchase in 2-4 weeks. Each retailer has their own process for reviewing, approving, and listing eBooks on their sites.
Please Note: All times are estimates and vary depending on demand.
Will I be notified when my eBook is made available on other retail sites?
No. When your book passes the retailer’s review, your eBook will be queued to be included in the retailer’s next site catalog update. The only means of verifying whether a title is listed on a retailer’s website is to search for the title.
Helpful hint: Searching by the eBook’s ISBN, without the dashes, will return a list of all sites on which the eBook is currently offered for sale.
If your eBook remains in the Processed status for more than four weeks, please contact our Support Team. We will attempt to locate your eBook in the process and provide you with additional information on your eBook’s distribution status.
How can my fans purchase my eBook from retail distribution sites?
When your eBook is listed on a retail site, your fans can purchase it directly from that site using their eReader or other device.
I see an “Available on the iBookstore” badge next to my eBook title. Why can’t I find it on the iBookstore?
When your eBook passes the Lulu Quality Assurance review and is sent to Apple, the Available on the iBookstore button is automatically applied to the title. Since Apple does not communicate back to us when your eBook passes their review process and it is added to their catalog, we simply add the tag in preparation for its availability on the iBookstore.
The only way for you to know when it is actually available is to conduct a periodic search.
Helpful Hint: To search for your book on the iBookstore. Type the following URL address into your browser: itunes.apple.com/us/book/isbnxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Replace the xxxxx's with the numbers from your ISBN (without the dashes) and hit enter. If your eBook is available for purchase from the iBookstore, it will display in your browser.
Note: the above URL displays books in the US iBookstore. To see if your eBook is listed in other iBookstores around the world, change the /us/ to the country code of interest (i.e. uk, fr, ca, etc.). Click here to view a list of international iBookstores.
Why is my entire eBook displayed in the iBookstore Preview?
The iBookstore generates a preview using either the first linked section in your eBook table of contents (NCX file) or 5% of the text – whichever is greater. If your eBook table of contents contains only one link, then the entire book will be displayed in the preview. This commonly occurs with short stories, picture books, and short children’s books.
To prevent your entire eBook from displaying in the iBookstore preview, you can either create additional chapters or sections in your eBook or create and upload a preview, in EPUB format, using a selected portion of your eBook. Lulu will submit your preview along with your eBook for use by our retail partners.
Please Note: Custom previews must be created in EPUB format. Previews submitted in DOC, DOCX, or PDF formats cannot be submitted to retail distribution partners
Do I have to sell my eBook on Lulu.com?
No, you may choose the retailers to which your eBook will be sent. If you do not choose Lulu as a distribution option, your eBook will be automatically set to Private Access, which prevents it from displaying in the Lulu Marketplace.
If your eBook qualifies for distribution (i.e. is in EPUB format and includes an ISBN), you will see the Manage distribution button next to the title on the My Projects page. Click this button to review or edit the retail distribution sites on which you want to sell your work.
Please Note: You may notice that your revenue amounts change based on the retail sites you select to distribute your book. That is because some retailers (Lulu, Apple, and Barnes & Noble) act as sales agents meaning they sell your eBook at the price you set then take a commission based on that price. Other retailers (Amazon, Kobo) operate as resellers. This means they pay a wholesale price to a distributor when your eBook sells. Since these retailers are buying your book from a middleman at a set price, they can resell your eBook at any price they like, including a discounted price. Under the reseller model you will always make the same revenue as displayed in the retail pricing step for each book sold by that retailer, regardless of the sale price.
If I revise my eBook, how long will it take for the revision to be updated on retail sites?
If you choose to revise an eBook already in retail distribution, the entire QA review and distribution process must be repeated. The revised version should replace the previously listed eBook in 3-6 weeks.
If your eBook is still in the Lulu QA review process (Pending status) you can withdraw it (click My Projects > Manage Distribution and click Cancel), make revisions, and resubmit it for review. When you complete your revision, you can resubmit your eBook for review.
If I change the price of my eBook, when will I see the new price on retail sites?
Since a price change does not require a Lulu QA review, the price change request will be queued and sent in the next scheduled data feed for each retailer. Prices on retail sites are updated based on each retailer's schedule and are usually visible in about two weeks.
Note: E-Book price changes are immediately visible in the Lulu.com bookstore.
How do I remove my eBook from retail distribution?
You can remove your eBook from distribution by clicking on the Manage Distribution button next to the title. Deselect each distribution channel from which you wish to remove your eBook and save your changes.
Your eBook will be removed from the retailer’s site as part of the next scheduled site catalog update.
For more information about retail distribution actions, see How to Use the eBook Manage Distribution Page.
