Print driver host for 32bit application has stopped

Hi.
I'm being asked to troubleshoot an issue with very limited access and I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.
Users are connecting to a WIndows 2008 R2 SP1 server using RDP. They are printing to HP Printers from within the RDP session. The Printers are installed onto the server as TCPIP printers. The error is a crash of SPLWOW64.EXE, and it references the file 'HPZUIWN7.DLL'.
The application they are printing from is 32-bit.
My biggest hurdle is the fact that I am expected to solve the problem, but have limited access to the environment and the people who have the required access are more interested in applying blame for the problem than fixing it (exacerbated by the fact that
if I am right in my diagnoses, they are the cause of the problem in the first place.)
I am of the opinion that the issue is 32/64-bit driver conflict related, but am a bit confused as to the recommended configuration for an environment like this. To summarize my question:
On a 64-bit OS that hosts multiple RDP Sessions (which could be from 32 or 64 bit workstations) that is used primarily for a 32-bit application, should we install the 32-bit print drivers, the 64-bit print drivers or both?
NOTE: I have some .DMP files related to the crash, but as of this stage I'd argue that the troubleshooting hasn't gotten to the point to justify trying to debug those yet.
Thanks for your time.
Dan

I'm not sure why the method is the name that it is.  I'm pretty sure MS blocked 16bit app support on 64bit machines.
The failure in the HP UI module is in this method
INVALID_POINTER_READ_c0000005_HPZUIWN7.DLL!CHPCommon::VUpdateResolutionFor16BitApps
They are not checking the memory before using it and it's not a valid pointer and crashes the process.
I'll send this to one of the guys that works for HP but there is not a way for the HP code to get updated like we do with system components.  The Office team has a report on this binary and method crashing office applications in 2012, but
it does not look like the issue was every handed off to HP, not that HP could address it then.
The FIRST thing I would do is change the resolution you have configured for the printer just to see if that initializes the data I assume the driver is looking for.
The next thing would be trying a different driver for the device.  If you find a newer driver that uses HPZ6RWN7.DLL, it has the same defect.

  • Error "print driver host for 32bit applications has stopped working"

Got this error when trying to "print" a gmail message to a pdf file. After some research (trial and error) I found that in my case this message is due to the subject line of the message generating an invalid Windows file name. Using the subject line to generate the filename is how GMail decides to generate the file name. I guess this is as good a strategy as any. I cannot think of a better strategy for GMail (would not want that "feature" changed).
Solution: Forwarded message to myself with a subject line that does not generate an invalid Windows file name and then "printed" that forwarded message.
Software: Adobe Acrobat Pro. OS: Win 7 64-bit. Application: Chrome accessing GMail. But I conjecture that this error message is not dependent on the specific configuration I have. For example, I recall having a failure when trying to do "print" a GMail message under 32-bit vista though I do not recall the error message (was very likely different :-). In that case I copied the message into Word and moved on leaving it as a mystery.
Adobe solution (I suppose) is that Acrobat (distiller) needs to check the validity of the Windows file name and give back a rationale error message before passing to the OS.
Hope this helps somone out there.

I am having the exact same problem. I have Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and Design Premium CS 5.5.  InDesign is the ONLY program that will not print to any printer. I get the "Printer selection failed." error every time I select any printer, even the Adobe PDF one. I have a Brother printer, an HP Plotter, and even an Oce copier/printer.  InDesign gives the error no matter what printer is selected form its own list.  Photoshop and Acrobat do not give me any issues, nor does any of the MS Office programs nor Autodesk softwares.  It's only InDesign that fails.  Reparing doesn't do anything and reinstalling every printer driver is pointless because it's only InDesign that produces the error.
Does anyone know what to do to fix this?

  • Print driver host for 32bit applications - Stopped working

Hey everyone, when I print to the Adobe PDF Converter print driver it will become unresponsive.  It might work for 4 or 5 print jobs and the crash.  This happens when printing from Illustrator CS5.5, IE9 and Visio 2010.
What normally happens is I will choose "print" then select "Adobe PDF" as the printer, the print progress bar comes up but not the explorer window where I choose to save the PDF.  The Illustrator/IE/Visio crashes.
The only way to be able to print again is to logout and log back in to the machine.  I've read some others re-starting the splwow64.exe but I haven't tried that.
I'm running a Windows7 Pro, 64-bit, SP1.  Adobe Design Premium CS5.5, Acrobat X Pro.  Everything is updated to the latest version.
    Any ideas?  Adobe?

  • Print driver host for 32 bit app has stopped working

Using Windows 7 64 bit. The printer is an HP Laser 1200. The 64 bit driver for the printer would not work, so I switched to the hp 2200 64 bit driver and the customer was able to print out of his CAD program and Excel.
However Adobe Reader is a different matter. He got the message "print driver for the 32 bit app has stopped working" and printed out 3 blank pages. Then he tried to print again, didn't get the message, and didn't get the blank paper. In fact, he didn't get anything.
Of course, there is no information on the HP website. Any ideas on what could be the problem?
    Thanks

  • Satellite L500D-144 - CCC Host Application has stopped working

    Ladies and Gentlemen,
my PSLT6E-007004GR is almost a year old.
Earlier this month there was an update - possibly from Microsoft - and since then popt always at startup in Windows 7 this window and look for solutions:
Catalyst Control Center. Host Application has stopped working, it is searched for a solution.
A new installation of the graphics card driver and Catalyst Control Center did not change. Instead, a standard graphics card driver from Microsoft is installed.
Resetting the system to the month of October also brought nothing, for after fresh updates, the problem occurs again.
    So it is reproducible.
Have already reported more customers or am I the first?
What can you do to the problem?
    Sincerely,
    CBluebaerchen

    Hello
    > Resetting the system to the month of October also brought nothing, for after fresh updates, the problem occurs again.
Do you get this display driver update from Windows Update?
If yes restore the system to an earlier point and disable this display driver update and choose only the important updates from Windows. Thats enough.
Otherwise you could try to run CCleaner. It can clean and fix registry problems.

How can I get rid of this?

    Hello tribefanz,
Sounds like a compatiblity issue with a program and Windows 7. We need to find out what program is causing the issue though. We can do that through event viewer
    1. Click the start orb
    2. Select Control Panel
    3. System and Security
    4. Under Administrative Tools select the Event Viewer
In the event viewer you will want to drill down into the Application and System logs and look for anything with a Red X that says Error. Identify the program causing the problem and then we can go from there.

  • Software Update printer driver update for HP causes an extra page to print that just has "2345X" printed on it.

A few days ago, Software Update showed a printer driver update for HP so I installed it.  Now, after everything that I print, I get an extra page that just has "2345X" printed on it.  I tried reinstalling the driver update but still get the extra page.  Anyone know how to get stop this extra pgae from printing?

    Hello charliemun,
What I suggest is to reset the print system, click the link below to proceed:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1341
Once you have reset the print system please make sure you are selecting the HP Driver and not the Airprint driver (see picture below)
Please let me know if this has resolved the error of the extra page with the numbers on it, or if you require more assistance.

  • Why  will photoshop not open after loading it to new iMac computer from an external hard drive and I get this message: Licensing for this product has stopped working:error code: 150:30

Why will Photoshop CS4 not open after loading to new iMac from an external hard drive and I get this message: Licensing for this product has stopped working:error code: 150:30

A Photoshop installation is tied to the machine it was installed on. Moving it to or from a hard drive breaks the licensing.
The answer is easy: Reinstall CS4 from your disc. and apply all updates.

  • HP 6600 Scan\Print Driver Issue for Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

    Hello,
For some time now I have been unable to scan or print from my desktop (Windows 7 Professional 64bit) and I have exhausted too much effort and am now bringing it to the masses.
    The problem:
Printing:  Currently receiving an "Error - Offline" message in my printer queue at all times.
Scanning:  Scanning has never fully worked on this desktop. I am always unable to communicate with the printer. (Though webscan works through accessing the printers IP address)
    Things I have tried:
Ran HPPSDr, followed directions (Unpluged power to printer, turn back on, restart computer) brings me to this website after it cannot fix. (Note that while the HPPSDr is running it always notions that there is a driver problem)
Uninstalled Drivers from CD-ROM, re-installed, countless times
Installed "Windows 7 Pro 64 bit drivers" from the HP website and uninstalled, countless times.
Attempted to set a static IP and use "Update IP Address" to point specifically at the printers IP.
Installed Drivers and finding the printer myself through it's own static IP address.
Turned off firewall and attempted to print (after reboot), same errors
Setting up the printer on all of my laptops (3) wirelessly to attempt to find if there is a problem with the printer or static IP. (1 is Windows VISTA 32bit and the other 2 are Ubuntu 32bit). All laptops are able to use the printer wirelessly without any problems.
Read all of the forums about this issue and attempted all of the 'solutions'. Although I mostly don't see that anyone with this same problem is resolved, unless I'm missing the perfect post.
    Things I have not tried:
Plugging the USB directly into the desktop. (This seems self defeating as the purpose for this printer was to be able to print wirelessly to it from across the room)
Re-installed Windows 7 Pro 64bit (Trying to avoid this, would rather just print from laptops)
    You tell me
    Curiosities:
I have noticed strange things that make me believe the driver is somehow incomptable with my OS. Here is a shot of the properties of the printer:
Weird that it is not recognizing the model number.
Also in the Printer Settings when I go to the port tab, there is no port selected, if I try and tab away it forces me to select a port, yet when I do and 'apply' and then re-open the Printer Settings in the ports tab; it has again unselected the previously selected port.
    Theories:
I feel like my OS is just refusing to notice the IP address for the wireless printer, no matter what I have it set to, even if it's dynamic. It's like the driver for Windows 7 Pro 64bit is actually not the correct driver for my system.
Anyways, another thing to mention is that I am not currently willing to wipe my operating system and re-install Windows 7 Pro in order to resolve this just yet. I want to see if anyone else has any other avenues I can try before even beginning to consider that.
Anyways, thanks in advance for taking the time to read my ramblings and hopefully someone who has resolved this issue can help me.

    Hi Zerosouls,

  • Licensing for this product has stopped working - Acrobat 9 Pro / OS 10.7

I am having a problem with Acrobat 9 Pro (9.4.5)  following my upgrade to Mac OS 10.7 (MacBook Pro).  The error that I've been receiving is "Licensing for this product has stopped working" with a numeric code at the bottom of the page of (0).
As suggested on that screen, I uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat 9 Pro and spent quite a bit of time loading all of the updates.  At the end of it, I still receive the same message and the program will not continue after that message.
This is part of CS4 Master.  All other products in the suite are working correctly and without issue.  No challenges with other Adobe products for licensing.  Acrobat is the only program I have that gives this message and then closes.
I found this page -> http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/512/cpsid_51260.html and started working through the process on that page.  When I got to the step of the License Recovery Tool (11.6.1), the launcher program will not launch with the error "You can't open the application LicenseRecoveryLauncher because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."  I guess that this program relies on Rosetta and will no longer function.
Can you help?  I've already uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat 9 Pro several times.  Some of the steps noted on http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/512/cpsid_51260.html disable the licensing for the other apps in CS4.  I really don't want to uninstall and reinstall the entire suite.
I have been on Adobe Customer Service Chat for a few hours.  Recommendations have been to just upgrade to Acrobat X or to call it in.  Before that, I wanted to check the forum to see if anyone else has hit this issue and if there is another possible fix.
    Thanks!

    Steve,
I appreciate your answer.  While it might work, I'm a bit hesitant to remove the other programs as a possible solution since they are all currently working.
With Acrobat 9 Pro failing with the OS 10.7 upgrade, I'm hoping that there is a less severe solution.
Since the trigger appears to be 10.7 and may have something to do with the discontinued support of Rosetta, I could be spending a few hours working on a reinstall without a change.  Yes, it might work.  The "might" is the part that makes me hesitate.
Is anyone else out there on OS 10.7 and running Acrobat 9 Pro?  Any issues with anyone else?
Thanks Steve.  I do appreciate your offering a solution.  I may end up trying it if nothing else comes together.

  • Licensing for this product has stopped working Error: 5

    OK. Totally frustrated here.
Trying to start InDesign (installed with Master Collection CS4) on Powerbook Pro running 10.5.7 and consistently get the error above: "Licensing for this product has stopped working" and with error: 5.
I have attached a dump of the error screen.
I have been through Adobe's knowledge base and followed the steps there. I have:
    1. Applied the licensing service update, and I also used the 0 option.
    2. I have restarted the computer several times.
    3. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the application (the whole Master Collection actually) using the uninstaller, with the remove preferences files option selected.
As far as I am aware I have the latest version because after reinstalling it the updater downloaded 1.1Gb of updates and installed those.
I have also nuked all font caches in case it was related to Apple's font cache bug.
No joy in any event. Still getting the error and no InDesign.
Any suggestions from the gurus here, please???
    Alan

    Thanks Peter,
As I said, have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but InDesign still doesn't work, all the other CS4 apps seem OK. Looked at the list you provided - much the same as the one I generated except there was one extra page I had not seen before at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/494/cpsid_49485.html.
Of course the series of steps described in that page are impossible to do because it says to :
    1)      Set the computer clock back to May 31, 2009.
    2)      Launch the affected product.
    3)      Go to Help->Deactivate, select ERASE THIS SERIAL NUMBER.
    4)      Quit the application.
    5)      ...
The application will not start because the licensing has stopped working. So step 2 is not possible.
Apart from that the only other page that specifically addresses this problem is at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405970.html
In this it says to do the things I said I have already done in my original post. None have worked.
Guess Adobe don't monitor this forum so I suppose I need to go back to Quark to do my work. InDesign appears fatally broken.

trying to launch photoshop cs3 on a mac running OS10.6.8 i keep getting the error message: Licensing for this product has stopped working  you cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT adminstrator or Adobe customer support for help
I already Uninstalled and reinstalled the product and it still does not work.

    Hi,
Try to uninstall the software again and you have to manually
    Delete the following folders:
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/caps
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/backup
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Application Support/FLEXnet Publisher/
Go to Applications-->Utilities-->Disk Utility, Open it and Select the MAC HD and then click on Repair permissions.
After that try to run the cleaner tool as mentioned by kglad.
Restart machine and then try to install again.
*** Make sure , you only delete these folders if there is no other adobe applications installed on the machine. As if you have any other Adobe application of the suite ( not free applications ) then it will be a problem.
