Print html file without seeing a print dialog box
i need to script an action that would allow a user to print a sparcly formated html file to a printer while bypassing the normal print dialog box.
the unix lpr command seems like it might work, but the man page only mentions PS and txt files.
Ultimately i'd want to trigger the print action from a php script, but it could be a folder action also.
Does anyone have any suggestions or point me in the right direction.
lp is the right command to use but you may need to convert the html file in PDF format before printing it. Just test it. Also type man lp to see more options.
enscript is a nice utility that may help you. man enscript for more.

Printing from FLASH without "Print dialog Box" Pop-up window?
hi guys,
i got a flash + OSX question, maybe someone can help me,
i'm working on a Adobe Flash (Flash version 9, actionScript
3) project, running on a MacOS X 10.4, on a core2duo iMac, it is
connected to a printer (Xerox Phaser 6360).
- the flash will be displayed in full screen.
- it is a "create your own postcard- &- print it out"
flash-based multimedia project.
- so Flash will need to print stuff.
issue is:
- everytime when something need to be printed, macOS X will
prompt a "Print Box" pop-up window say Cancel or Print (see my jpeg
below).
- so it might overlap on top of my Flash project, which is
running full screen (so having the pop-up window overlapping my
flash is no good).
so i need a solution to avoid this, any idea?
what i can think of are:
A- is there a way to avoid/by-pass this step? meaning a way
not to show this?
or
B- or is there a shareware/way to "auto-click RETURN button"
so even this screen appear it will be "auto-click" away.
or ..C?
i knew there is a Plug-in (or Xtra) for Macromedia Director
called: Print-o-matic,
the URL is:
http://www.printomatic.com/products.cfm/
it work well on the Director on Mac OS7, but they only made
it for Director & Authorware, not Flash :-( do you know
something similar for Flash?
this
is the pop-up Print dialog box i meant (which i want to avoid),
or u can copy the URL to view there:
http://photos-g.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v193/184/11/743997016/n743997016_546542_881 6.jpg
about the printer URL:
High
speed color for high volume printing - Phaser 6360
hope i'm able to get a solution here.
thanks guys,
cheers,

Print frame without print dialog box
I want to thank everybody for the print swf file on the
raisingaimee site, but my question goes a bit further. I'm working
on a new quiz project and would like the results page to
automatically print out when the user reviews the quiz. OR when the
user clicks a button (say, continue or something similar) that the
review frame will automatically print to the default printer
without the print dialog box popping up. Is this possible?hi sebastian,
first of all u check for user settings.....in TABLE USR01
Selecting user master records from USR01 table
SELECT SINGLE * FROM usr01
INTO ls_usr01
WHERE bname = sy-uname.
ls_outputoptions-tddest = ls_usr01-spld.
IF ls_usr01-spdb = 'H'.
ls_outputoptions-tdimmed = ' '. "Print immediatetly
ELSE.
ls_outputoptions-tdimmed = 'X'.
ENDIF.
and in control parameters use
ls_outputoptions-no_dialog = 'X'.
this will help u out..
please reward in case usefull...

I can no longer print to the 3 Canon printers on my local area network. The print dialog box states that the print file is accepted and the job is printing, but the files never print. Everything worked when the computer and printers were initially set up.
There may be some security issues related to the USPS PDFs.

I can't help with the scan/print problem. You seem to have done everything I would try.
I don't know if maybe using a registry cleaner would help.

Excel is throwing error when it click print : 'No printers are installed. To install a printer click the File tab, and then click Print. Click No Printers Installed, and then click Add Printer. Follow the instructions in the Add Printer dialog box'
Word, and powerpoint application are working fine.
Environment : Windows 7 64-bit, MS Office 2013 64-bit
Steps to recreate
(i) Create new user account and add to any group ( do not log on using this
account)
(ii) runas /user:<new user account> <fullpath>\excel.exe
it will ask password so enter on command prompt
(iii) open any excel document and click File->Print
(iv) verify result (it is failing) it pop ups below error
Error:`Microsoft Excel
No printers are installed. To install a printer click the File tab, and then click
Print. Click No Printers Installed, and then click Add Printer. Follow the
instructions in the Add Printer dialog box.Sorry for late reply i was not at work
I have a default set excel is still throwing error. Interestingly winword , powerpoint and publisher are working fine. I am able to print from all office applications except Excel.
Probably excel behaves differently from other office applications.
Probably it is a bug in excel
Workaround : Log on to a system once using newly created account then runas excel using this account then print works fine.
It means something in user profile should be configure to run excel print operation. Could you please somebody help what I need to configure in user profile that makes print operation success? -
Can't see printer name in the print dialog box as the printer name is too long
This is actually causing siginificant pain as I am using a tablet and moving around a number of floors/buildings needing to be able to print from where I am.
When printing from Acrobat reader, the print dialog box that comes up does not have a horizontal scroll bar and does not fit in the names of the printers in my organisation. We are unable to change the printer name, so it basically means that when using Acrobat, we can't select a printer.
All other windows applications show more characters and also have a horizontal scroll bar in the print dialog box so you can scroll across to see the rest of a long printer name. Why is acrobat not using the standard windows print dialog?
Has anyone come across this? Help! This is the Acrobat forum, not the Reader forum. In the future you should check there. I am not sure why you can not change the printer name, unless you do not have administrator rights. The name of the printer has nothing to do with where the print copy is sent. It is just for the purpose you mentioned of identifying the printer to print to. If you are not the administrator, ask your IT folks to change the name for you and explain why.

Print Preview is missing from Firefox 6 on Mac OSX Lion in both File Menu and Print Dialog Box
The question says it all really. Print Preview option is missing from both the File menu and from the Print dialog box when you select Print. I use Print Preview a lot to avoid wasting paper.
A relevant issue might be that the Mac OSX app Preview is currently having trouble with various printers including my Xerox and so, temporarily, the default application for all Preview items is now Adobe Reader until Apple get their act together. Perhaps this is affecting things?
Thanks for any helpIt's moved to the PDF dropdown, "Open PDF in Preview"

CS6 Photoshop: One newly-created PSD file won't print because the print dialog box won't appear after selecting File > Print. Then "Print" becomes grayed out. The file properties such as permissions, are the same as other PSD files that do print. This file also cannot be converted to Adobe PDF, which is not offered as choice under "Save as", whereas other can be. I've exited, reopened Photoshop, restarted computer, checked out other CS6 PSD files which do print, nothing changes. The 52 MB file has been flattened. OS is Windows 7. Thanks for any suggestions.
Sounds like the printer driver is having some problems.
Try holding the space bar down when you select Print (which makes the print dialog NOT load previously used settings). -
Where do I find the printer dialog box to change the setting that asks me to save a file before printing
Hi Sara,
The problem is every time I try to copy a page from a website or attachment sent to me or anything that I don't create, the dialog box says I have to save it before I can print -- there are no other options on the dialog box. Very frustrating -- one of the girls in my office is having the same problem and we can't find a way around it.
Hope you can help
Thanks

PSE 10 - Print Dialog box - Preview shows incorrect file
PSE 10 - Print Dialog box - Preview shows incorrect file. Preview shows an open, but minimized file, however, it does not show the active, open file that I want to print. Rather than have to go through the organizer to choose the correct file and delete the incorrect file, how can I make sure that the targeted file I want to print appears in the Print dialog preview window and actually prints?
Thanks, Barbara. I've used PSE for years and never knew this. Such an easy solution. Thanks for quick response!

SUBMIT command; for print dialog box-how to pass parameter here?
Hi Gurus,
I am calling a report from another report. Inside report_2 i am using,
When i execute report2, i get a PRINT DIALOG BOX
Here i need to enter the output device name. and again excute.
I am not able to automate this in my program. Could you suggest?
Through F1 help, i found the screen_field name(of the output device parameter) to be 'SFPOUTPAR-DEST'
and i enter default output device 'PDEST'
where do i give this?
and also, after this, i need to do a 'Print Preview' action and see if file is opening up.
Can i automate these actions?
I am using:
rspar_line-selname = 'SFPOUTPAR-DEST'. // the output device parameter name
rspar_line-kind = 'S'.
rspar_line-sign = 'I'.
rspar_line-option = 'EQ'.
rspar_line-low = 'PDEST'. // PDEST is the default value i want to pass
APPEND rspar_line TO rspar_tab.
Then i do, (inside report 2....)
SUBMIT report_1
WITH SELECTION-TABLE rspar_tab
AND RETURN.
Its not working... i just get the print dialog box(without values being defaulted)
How do i proceed?
Thanks,
RashmiHi
You can do the following way.
data : lv_pri_params like pri_params,
lv_user_name type char16,
lv_user_name0 like tbtcjob-authcknam.
lv_user_name = sy-uname.
lv_user_name0 = sy-uname.
call function 'LOAD_PRINT_PARAMETERS'
exporting
key = lv_user_name
importing
out_parameters = lv_pri_params
exceptions
error_occured = 1
others = 2.
if sy-subrc <> 0 or lv_pri_params-pdest is initial.
select single padest into lv_pri_params-pdest from tsp03.
endif.
submit report1
with selection-table rspar_tab
destination lv_pri_params-pdest
copies lv_pri_params-prcop
list name lv_pri_params-plist
immediately space
keep in spool 'X'
new list identification 'X'
line-count lv_pri_params-linct
line-size lv_pri_params-linsz
sap cover page lv_pri_params-prsap
cover page lv_pri_params-prbig
without spool dynpro
user lv_user_name
and return.
Reward Points, if it is useful.
With Regards
Raja.

Printer dialog box does not appear in Photoshop CS.5
I use Photoshop CS.5.1 with a Macbook 2013 using version 10.9.5. The printer works perfectly with all other applications but in Photoshop no printer dialog box comes up and the print job does not appear in the printers queue. Anyone the same issues?
First, try nuking (deleting them and letting the application create new ones) your Photoshop preferences:
To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
Note: If this process doesn't work for you while you're using a wireless (Bluetooth) keyboard, attach a wired keyboard and retry.
Important: If you re-create the preferences by deleting the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings file, make sure that you only delete that file. If you delete the entire settings folder, you also delete any unsaved actions or presets.
Reinstalling Photoshop does not remove the preferences file. Before reinstalling Photoshop, re-create your preferences.
NEW Video! Julieanne Kost created a video that takes you through two ways of resetting your Photoshop preferences. The manual preference file removal method is between 0:00 - 5:05. The keyboard shortcut method is between 5:05 - 8:18. The video is located here.
Mac OS
Important: Apple made the user library folder hidden by default with the release of Mac OS X 10.7. If you require access to files in the hidden library folder to perform Adobe-related troubleshooting, see How to access hidden user library files.
