Print PDF weird characters

I've got an Imac model begin 2012 and mountain lion installed and since a few weeks the following problem error.
PDF files i get from my insurance company and other companies look allright in preview but when i want to print them on my hp printer most of the text are strange ascii characters. It must be an bug because my father has allso an Imac and ML installed and he has the same issue with pdf files printing on his canon printer. We tried pdf files he gets from a different company.
Is this an known issue and does anyone has a solution for this problem?

I tried Adobe reader and it works now the document is printed correct.
I only get the error "SymbolMT is missing"  but when i say still printing it prints correct.
Problem i've got whit this solution is that preview is not working anymore for me and i have to use adobe reader......

  • Printing pdf - extra characters added

When printing from a downloaded pdf to another pdf or to hardcopy on our HP printer, extra characters are being added.  For example, the letter "j" is being added to the end of every word in one italicized paragraph, while a ":" is being added to the end of every word in another italicized paragraph.  The problem does not occur for all italicized items or paragraphs, only some.  I'm using Acrobat Professional 8.1.4.  This problem does not occur when using Acrobat 5 (which we have on one computer here for various reasons).  I've tried optimizing and flattening but they seem to have no effect.  Any ideas?  (There is no way to access the original source document used to generate the original pdf - I have re-downloaded it with no change.)

Try updating AA8. It is currently at AA8.2.3. May not solve the problem, but worth the try.

  • PDF Print issue : shifted characters

    Hello,
I have a problem printing PDF with reader 7.0 : in some cases, a part or all the document characters are shifted bye one.
    For example, a become b, b become c, c become d .....
Document render is perfect on screen.
The problem appears in a totaly random way, I not able to reproduce it for now.
I am printing from the OCX, encapsulated in IE on a HP laserjet (parallel port) throught PCL driver.
I updated reader to 8.1.2, but the problem is still present.
Does anybody already experienced troubles like these ?

Which broswer and what OS? You might want to configure the browser to open pdfs in stand alone in AA rather than within the browser window, or v/v.

  • Printer printing with truncating characters on both sides using Style PDF

    Hi,
    DB:11.1.0.7.0
    Oracle Apps: 12.1.1
    OS:Linux Red Hat 86x64
We are using Printer name XYZ with Printer Type: HPLJ4SI
    Style: PDF Publisher
    Driver:PASTA_PDF
Issue: The same printer works fine in DEV env but not in INT env.
What could be the issues here and where could be the fix?
Could anyone please share such an issues faced before?
    Thanks for your time!
    Regards,

    Hi,
    Yes.Verified.
    Printer style: PDF Publisher :
    User style: PDF Publisher
    Layout: Columns: 132 Rows :55
    Report Definition:
    Output Format: XML
    Columns: 132
    Rows: 45
    Style: PDF Publisher
Exactly the same setups are there in both the environments but still it's printing with truncated characters at both left and right margins of the page in INT only.
    In DEV it's printing fine.
So, now where else could we be looking for the fix.

  • Printed PDF not able to copy text

This is a weird problem I've had on a few distros, and I am trying to find out what is going on.
When I print a PDF from Firefox, Kate, etc. to either cups-pdf or kprinter's pdf function and then open it in Adobe Acrobat, any text that I highlight and copy comes out as weird characters that are mostly blocks.  I cannot seem to find a way to have the text appear as the actual text.  I am using all default settings for both pdf printers.  If I do an export pdf from OpenOffice, I can copy and paste the text fine from acrobat.  Therefore, it's not acrobat, but the pdfs that are being created.  Is there any way to solve this and does anyone else have the same behavior?
    Thanks.

Hadn't noticed this before, but I can reproduce it. Moreover, Evince will not even allow me to select text from PDFs generated by cups-pdf. Not familiar with Kprinter, could it be using cups-pdf as a PDF backend (couldn't determine that from Kprinter's handbook)? Maybe something with the PPD?

  • Unable to print PDF files to HP Colour Laser Printer

    Hi Guys,
I am having a problem with printing PDF files to a network printer. The printer was purchased recently and is a HP Colour LaserJet CP3525n all in one, printer/photocopier etc. Other documents such as Word documents work, so I don't think its a straight forward issue...
I can print PDF file to other printers, so I know the PDF files themselves are not at fault.
When I try and print to that printer, I just get pages and pages of funny characters coming up on the page... It doesn't matter what sort of PDF file I print either...
Are there any settings I can change that may help me resolve the issue. The printer is networked and shared amongst 4 people.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • My Mac won't read cyrillic in certain files and displays instead weird characters like this: "–í–µ-Ç–µ-Ä –ø-Ä–æ–¥–∏-Ä–∞–µ-Ç –¥–æ –∫–æ-Å-Ç–µ–π." Any ideas why this might be or how I can solve it?

Yesterday I extracted the subtitles of an MKV file to try and print them. Unfortunately, when I open the .srt file with any text processor, it displays weird characters like the ones included in the title:
    "–û–±—ã–≤–∞—Ç–µ–ª–∏ –ø–µ—á–∞–ª—å–Ω—ã.
    –í–µ—Ç–µ—Ä –ø—Ä–æ–¥–∏—Ä–∞–µ—Ç –¥–æ –∫–æ—Å—Ç–µ–π."
I thought this had to do with it being an .srt file, but just now I encountered the same problem with an Excel file.
Any ideas why this might be or suggestions as to how to solve it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mario

It looks like an encoding problem.  You should try opening the file in a text editor where you can choose one of the various possible cyrillic encodings (utf-8, koi8-r, iso-8859-5, win-1251, MacCyrillic)

  • Text missing when printing PDF

We're having a problem with printing PDFs to our networked large format Canon ipf8000 printer from our Mac Pros. We have two Mac Pros, both are having the same problem. When printing a PDF through Acrobat Pro that we have created using either from Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign, that contains live text information (font's are embedded as the applications do this by default when saving a PDF), none of the text will print. All graphics and images will print but text will not.
This initially started off as an issue where the printer would print some characters incorrectly, then this progressed to printing complete gobbledygook, to not printing any text at all.
We had thought that it may be a printer driver problem, but we recently just bought a new printer (same model, just an updated version ipf8300), and installed the new drivers for it and this issue still occurs on this machine.
Converting the text to outline before saving the PDF and sending it to print is the only solution we have found so far to get the text to print.
I have tried printing the same document from a PC, again using Acrobat Pro, and it has gone through completely fine, all text is present and correct, which leads us to believe it is a Mac related issue and not a printer related one.
Has anyone else experienced this or know of a fix for the problem, other than what we are doing currently?

  • Report printing in Greek characters after changing Font

    Hi All,
We had a bunch of reports created in 'Courier New' font whose output type is PDF. The users wanted the reports to print in 'Arial' font. When I changed the same from Courier New to Arial and ran the report , the report is printing in Greek characters instead of English. I initially thought that it prints in Greek may be because of insufficient space or something for the text fields but there seems to be sufficient spaces to print characters. I tried reducing the size and still the reports prints in Greek in lower size.
Can anyone let me know how to get rid of this?
    Thanks,
    Srini.

  • Can't Print PDF/Folders Need Password To Opem After Archive and Install

    Greetings:
I did a archive and install on my 10.4.11 eMac because of ever sluggish performance and Safari 3.1.1 and QuickTime 1.4 problems (gotta be a better way than all that!). First, maybe by my shakey hand or because of bills, I somehow did the archive and install twice in succession, ending up with 2 previous system folders. (The second one doesn't contain any personal goodies). But I've lost my prefs and happily I regularly Sync Firefox/Thunderbird separately so they weren't lost in the grand sweep-up. I dumped the library folder in the 1st Previous System folder into the "new" System folder's (blank) library one and retrieved most of my functionality. What I can't do now is Print PDFs and annoyingly, most every other system folder wants my permissions password before I can use it. This sneaky lock-out kept NeoOffice from booting for hours despite reinstalling it several times before I realized the NeoOffice folder in the library folder was locked. Unfortunately, Safari seems to choke when you type a password or characters into some input windows, like some kind of auto-fill was trying beat you and gets hung.
How can I kill all these pesky permissions off and how do I recover Print PDF?
    Thanks.

  • Trouble Printing PDF Attachments in Outlook as "Fit to Printable Area"

If this has been discussed before, I apologize. I wasn't able to find the exact problem...
We use Outlook 2007 and Reader X here in my office. When we try to print an email w/ a PDF attachment, the attachment is not printing as "Fit to Printable Area," resulting in very tiny printed PDFs. If we open the PDF on its own, "Fit to Printable Area" is selected by default and the attachment prints as it should. The weird thing is... this is only a problem for some users. For others, the attachments always print as "Fit to Printable Area," even when printed at the same time as the email. Is there some kind of default setting for "Fit to Printable Area" that specifically applies to PDF email attachments? Is there some other reason why this problem only affects some users? Everyone is using Windows XP and we're all going to the same printer.
    Thanks!
EDIT: Does any one have any ideas on this at all? Thanks again.

In the past, I have overriden the Print dialog with my own dialog..
I've called the print function with param5 = true

  • Set filename of printed PDF via script

    Hi folks!
I have a little problem with generating a PDF. First my Workflow:
I have a InDesign document with 6 pages. This document is merged with a databasefile containing 100 records. After merging it, we have to generate a PDF file. This PDF file is opened within acrobat. Within the document, I'm searching for an ID each record has so I can split the document to 100 files (each with 6 pages) and name it by the ID I found.
The script within Acrobat is finished and working. I thought, the InDesign script is finished ,too. But I was wrong -.-
I merged the databasefile with the document and exported it as PDF. But after exporting, we noticed that the script within Acrobat isn't finding the adressheader where the ID is in. The script only noticed the text after that header. The result is, that Acrobat get's always "null" as ID
If we print the PDF with our PDFprinter, the header could be read by our Acrobat script. I don't know why this is... But now I changed the script to print the files via our PDF printer. Unfortunately I can't set a name for my exported file - do you know if there is a possibility to print PDF's without prompting after each one and with a via script given name?
Here you can see the old script for InDesign and right after it, the Acrobat sript. Maybe I made some mistake by generating my PDFexport and don't need to use the printer?

  • Printing PDFs on a 1210

I have run into a weird problem when I'm printing PDFs.  Sometimes, only the hyphens are printed of the entire text, other times, arbitrary lines or paragraphs are missing, but everything else prints just fine, and at other times again, figures and graph descriptions, edges and numbers are printed, but not the figures/graphs themselves. Very odd. What could be the cause of this?
I'm running a win7 32-bit, with standard IE8-browser and Avast antivirus (which normally acts very friendly - never had firewall/antivirus related blocking of anything). I've had these problems ever since I set up this computer.
Hope you guys can help me.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Are you using Adobe Reader or some other pdf reader?  We experienced something similar.  The print preview would look fine, but printing it was similar to what you've described.  After searching Adobe website I couldn't find anything in their support documentation to help.  I updated and installed the latest Acrobat Reader and it still didn't solve the problem.
I went to Staples and asked their technician if they've seen problems like this and he suggested I download Foxit Reader.  I downloaded and installed Foxit Reader and printed my pdf's just fine.
