Hi Cat32,
I understand you are not able to print using shortcut keys.
I was just wondering if you installed the printer on your new Windows 8 Pro.
I would like to help but I do need to know the printer that you are using.
Here is a link to drivers and software help.

Have you checked the Print Service log in event viewer?
    Here's How.
I have the Microsoft XPS driver on my clients, so I use that fact to my advantage below.
Click Start Button/Administrative Tools/Remote Desktop Services/Remote Desktop Services Manager on the RDSH server
Click the Sessions tab.  PC’s are listed Under Client Name by their computer name.  Take Note of the corresponding
ID.  We will use this to locate the Printer information in the Event Log.
In the Event Log open Application and Services Logs/Microsoft/Windows/Print Service/Admin/ and Find the Event ID 823 entry that has the corresponding ID from the sessions tab you previously noted.
This Event Log Entry is created at Logon and you can only get the session ID when they are logged in.
This tells you what client printer was mapped for the client.  The name that appears is the name of the Printer that was set on the client when the printer was installed.
See if you see any errors here.
If you see Event Id 823 with the following message “The default printer was changed to Microsoft XPS Document Writer,winspool,Ne00:. See the event user data for context information.”  Twice in a row with no other messages in between, and the first occurs
at the time the user logged in, then their printer was not properly redirected.
You see the Microsoft XPS driver mapped for each session prior to Easy Print redirecting the client machine’s Default Printer.
Since your printer is the HP 1020 I would bet the driver on the client does not work with Easyprint.  I would try the  the HP Universal Print Driver or the driver for a printer that is very close, like the HP 1018.
    Thanks,
    Jeremy

Satellite A100 Laptop Print Screen Not working for USER but is working for Administrator[ New ]

Hi I am new to this forum and am asking for your  help.  We are sharing a computer, the PrtSc key is working for the Administrator but not when we switch users.  We have tried everything that we can think of: From opening a the page(S) we want to paste to not opening the pages. My most common usage is to PrtSc and paste it into an email , but barring that we have tried opening a page in notes, documents, word etc . Nothing seems to work.  I do not get an error message , it just won't paste. Since we are not computer literate we are hoping you can help us with a solution .  Thanks in Advance .

Jerry, that post you just answered was from nearly 4 1/2 years ago!  And that's the last time the OP was here.

  • Touch screen not working after windows 10

Touch screen is not working after windows 10 was down loaded.  Also the zoom keeps changing on it's own.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

Could you provide the unit's Model name/number?

  • Screen not working of Satellite Pro A

My sattelite pro, not sure what model because the sticker has worn out, but I think its something like L18850
When I was using it today, it went into sleep, when I rebooted it the screen wouldn't come on.
I tried removing the battery, holding power button for 45 seconds etc.. That didn't work.
I have tried turning it on and off lots of times, it boots up the desktop, I can hear the sound of it logging in, but it seems to take longer for the sound to happen now and it seems to make the login sound twice, 10 mins apart.
One of the times i Turned it on it the screen worked and it loaded up system recovery, I chose to keep my existing files and partition the rest, the screen was working for the half an hour that it took to recover windows, then when it restarted the screen was no longer working again..
It is very frustrating as one week ago the laptop was with Toshiba repair, there were no previous problems with the screen, I sent it in with a cooling fan fault..
Any help would be appreciated , I need the laptop badly as I work online and need it to pay rent..

Sorry to hear that it very annoying if notebook / computer start to malfunctions.
From my point of view nobody here in the forum would be able to help fixing this issue since I think there is something wrong with the hardware.
You could connect the external monitor just to check if something would be visible on 2nd screen but of course this would not fix the notebook problem.
Maybe the issue is related to the last notebook repair??? You said the notebook was send to the service one week ago this is just an assumption but maybe the technician made some mistakes last time who knows I recommend you to get in contact with the guys again

  • Printer does not work with Windows 7

I need help for printing with my HP Deskjet IA 3545 eAiO printer.
I cannot print with my laptop running on Windows 7. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing countless times over the past 3 days using the accompanying CD as well as trying to get the latest driver updates from the internet but all failed to print. I have also tried using Wireless Direct but that did not work as well. The printer printed the  internal page when I ran the HP Printing and Scanning Doctor tool.
I have no such printing issue with thsi printer model while using my desktop and other laptop running on Windows 8.1. This Windows 7 laptop prints smoothly however when I switch to my Brother DCP-J315W and Canon LBP7100Cn printers.
Windows Updates lets me know there is one important update for the driver for this printer but for some mysterious reason the Windows 7 laptop just will not accept the down-loading and installation operations for this particular update.
    Please assist me.

    Hi there @YuLen ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums
I read your post about how your Deskjet Ink Advantage 3545 is not completely functioning on your own computer running Windows 7 however, another computer functions fine with the printer, and the printer will also print out test pages successfully. This seems to sound like an operating system issue so far, and I have some ideas in mind for you to try out that might help.
    1. Run the Microsoft Fix It Tool to uninstall the printer.
    2. Restart your computer.
    3. Perform a Clean Boot.
    4. Restart the PC again.
    5. Run Windows Updates: Use your Start menu to check for updates
    6. Download and run the full installation here: HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3540 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers
    7. Try printing now!
If there is still an issue with performing the Windows Updates, contact Microsoft: Microsoft Support Forums
    Good luck!

  • Printer does not work on Windows 10

I cannot install the driver. HP Print and Scan Doctor Does not hlep, neither does the HP Support Assistant and i even downloaded direct 8.1 driver from a third party, which does not work as well. Please Help Me.
How do i install the printer driver so that windows is able to recognise it. As before i had installed all of it on 8.1 and could even use the 'Netgear Wirless Router Driver' with it.

    Figured it myself.
For some reason, the tool does NOT support source locations on ReFS formatted drives. Move the D:\ISOFOLDER location to NTFS formatted drive, and the tool works flawless:

  • Printer Software not Working for Windows 8.1 and Drivers not Working with USB 3.0

We have a HP CM1312 MFP. We recently got two new windows 8.1 machines. We tried downloading and installing the windows 8 64 bit software, but everytime we tried installing the software the software program would exit abruptly.
We then tried just downloading the printer drivers and installing these. They installed ok, but when we tried to connect the printer via USB it said the printer did not support USB 3.0 which are the only ports we have on the new computers.
Is there a solution to either of these problems? Without the software we cannot use the fax or scanner.
    Thanks.

Can you connect USB 2.0 data drives?
    What make/model are the computers?

  • Finger print reader not working 'post' Windows 10 upgrade from windows 7

Ok I have succumbed to upgrading to Windows 10 as I did to Windows 8, perhaps this time I won't 'rollback' but already things don't look good .  As a part of the upgrade the Windows 10 the installer spat about the HP Protect Tools Security Manager and asked me to uninstall in order to proceed with the upgrade. I started to get a little concerned from this point on that I would lose my fingerprint reader as a result of going to Win 10 and low and behold that’s happened. It was only after following several threads online that I originally got the fingerprint reader working on windows 7.  I went in and out of the BIOS resetting this and that but in the end despite having all the HP drivers for the readers (latest ones) the only thing that ‘fixed’ my fingerprint reader was the installation of the HP Protect Tools Security Software. So the question is where’s the Windows 10 version of the HP Protect Tools Security Software or the ‘fix’ is there one?? Hate to think an operating system is blocking such a great HP laptop feature!

I want to upgrade from windows7 to  windows10 (probook 4350s) I have the same question about compatible version, which I hope HP or somebody answer soon and help us...I also cant uninstall my protect tools as upgrade needs me to.I want to know is it possible for finger scanner to work in windows10 after uninstalling HPPTM. thanks,Nazanin Mirzabeigi

  • Printer 3510 not working witn windows 8.1 goes to print to file not printing

IN installed the new driver from the hp website which is supposed to fix the print  problems since  the upgrade to windows 8.1. Now when I  tell the computer to print, it looks like it will print, but it goes to print to file and tries to save the document rather than print it. I have no idea what to do.

    Hello kcgphd,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some printing issues when connecting the printer to your Windows 8.1 computer.
I have a few suggestions that we can try in the attempt to troubleshoot this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
If you have the printer connected to the computer with a USB cable, please remove it from the printer and the computer and leave it disconnected until further notice.
The next step that I suggest we go through is Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once the uninstall is complete, please restart the computer.
When the computer is back up and running, please click on the following for the HP Deskjet 3510 e-All-in-One Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers.  Please save the download to the Desktop so that it creates its own icon.  This will make the download easy to find.
Double click the new icon and follow the instructions.  The installation will let you know when to connect the USB cable.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Skype call share screen not working on Windows 7

To see the Skype version, in Skype open Help -> About Skype.

Hello Skype community! I have a little bit of a problem with my share screen function. This is on Windows 7, and it used to be fine before. My friend's screen, (We'll call her Flower for now), can show up just fine on my screen. But Flower cannot see my screen on her skype call.  Screenshot Flower's Laptop is also running Windows 7. I've tried quitting Skype, and even re-downloading it. Sadly, I'm not so sure what version of Skype Flower's running, or mine. Any help is appreciated!

  • Bonjour Printer Services not working on Windows 7 anymore

I have my HP Deskjet F4450 connected via USB on my IMAC running 10.6.8.
I have it shared with everybody can print settings and can add it to both my Windows 7 laptops using Bonjour Printer Services 2.0.2 (it sees it and I can add it)
But when I print from Windows 7 it says that the test page is spooling but nothing happens, Nothing prints.
I have looked at a bunch of help files, but nothing has worked for me.
Did some Windows 7 Updates break the Bonjour printer Services application?
    Thanks for any help.
Update:  It worked about a month ago I know from each Windows laptop.
It prints fine from my MacBook.

I'm having the same issue, but with a Time Capsule.  My MBA can print fine to it, but my Windows 7 desktop cannot.  It sees the printer, and things queue up but never come out.  Worked fine about a month ago but stopped.

  • Touch Screen not working in Windows 8.1 HP Pavilion 23 TouchSmart

I've checked the device manager and the device seems to be working properly and have the latest driver installed.
However, in the Pen and Touch section, the Touch action is not able to be altered.  It is set to Equivalent mouse action, but it is not doing that either.  I can alter the Double-tap and the Press and hold.
I believe it stopped working after the last two updates.
    This question was solved.

I answered my own question.  I did a complete shut down instead of a restart.  When I started it up again after about 10 minutes, the touchscreen was back to working.

  • Fingerprint Reader not working after windows password reset

    Hi There
I was using windows login (single admin user) and fingerprint reader to login to my Thinkpad T510. Yesterday night I changed windows password and I didn't update finger print. Unfortunately I am not able to login when I tried to login using windows login today, I forgot the password and when I tried finger print reader it is just throwing error.
Why finger print is not working after windows password reset? What should I do to login?
    Help would be appreciated!!

I just called the tech support just now? I just asked the 'why the finger print reader not recognizing the finger print after changing windows password?', and he gave the following answers
    1. You should change fingerprint while changing windows password.  I don't understand the reason behind it, btw is this true?
    2. We can't do anything for this issue.
