Printer present but documents disappear

I installed a new G5 with a fresh install of Leopard in our office network and cannot get it to print to the network printer, a Sharp MX-6200. I installed the print driver and the printer appears in the printer pane of System Preferences with the correct name and when I print to it, the document appears in the print que and then disappears after a few seconds but does not print. The job status screen on the printer shows no evidence of the document and the computer gives no error message. So where does a document go when it leaves the que? You'd think if it's not going to the printer, it must go somewhere! And how do I get this computer to print to this printer. All other computers on the network can print just fine and this particular computer can print to the little LaserWriter just fine.

If you have other computers that are printing fine to the Sharp, then I suggest you have a look at the port configuration they are using. Maybe you have selected the wrong protocol with your network printer queue.
I also suggest you see which printer driver language they are using. If you are using a PostScript driver but the Sharp does not support PostScript, then this can be a cause of the symptom you are experiencing.

    It's almost certainly too late.

  • I'm trying to print  an Ancestry document from an iPad 2 using air print onto a Canon 5350 (one of the printers ok'd by Apple) I am unable to change the print orientation from portrait to landscape.  That is I change it in printer settings but no use.

I'm trying to print an Ancestry document from an iPad 2 using air print.  The printer is a Canon MG5350 (on the Apple approved list) I have no difficulty printing but only in portrait format.  I've tried changing printer preferences from my computer but even though the Canon accepts the changes it will not print landscape - can anyone advise please?

    Hi,
How do you connect the printer to the XP machine ? If USB, you need to make that machine as a Print server. Please try this:

    Try resetting the printing system.
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse
    4. Click the "Reset printing system ..." popup
    5. Restart your Mac
This will remove your print queues but not your printer drivers. So you will only need to add your printer queues again.

Hi I have a Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W printer. This works with my Windows-based Toshiba laptop but not with my i-Mac. I have the latest (Mountain Lion 10.8.2) OS-X software.
I have installed the printer using 'System Preferences' on my i-Mac and it appears on the list of available printers but documents that I create just don't print.
Can someone please advise me how I get the Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W printer to work with my i-Mac?
    Thanks, John Lee

Looking at the Konica web site for the PagePro 1300W, I saw the following note.
Please note: This printer is designed to be used in computer operating systems running MS Windows only. Operating systems such as UNIX, Macintosh, or Linux are not supported nor do we have workaround drivers available. Older MS Windows versions, such as Windows 3.1/95/98[pre-SE] and NT 3.51/4.0, are not supported.
So KM are not going to help you. But the LinuxFoundation does provide a workaround that should allow you to print. Have a look at this web page. You will need to install all three packages as per the instructions from that page.

how can i print a translated document but keep EN text at it's cropmark info??

If you just want this for printing, one thing you can easily do is crop all of the pages to remove the margins. For example, you can rop 2" off the left and right sides, and 1.5" off the top and bottom. Then print using a Page Scaling of "Fit to Printable Area".
To crop in Acrobat 9, select: Document > Crop Pages
be sure to select All for the Page Range.

  • Printing portfolio - but only document for document ...

    Hi there,
I am suffering the following difficulty: I received a pdf-portfolio which contains 10 different documents. For an unknown reason there is for me no possibility given to print them all at once. So I do have to initiate printing for every single document and sort it afterwords -- which isn't funny at all ...
In the online-help from Adobe I found the hint, that I should mark all the documents in the side bar at the left. But this doesn't work either. There doesn't appear the promised windows that asks if I want to print a single document or all that are marked.
Who can give me the answer what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    schungala

Well then, it took a little while but eventually the problem has been solved!
I deinstalled the newest version of the reader and
    installed the version 9.0.0.
The print-dialogue from now on appears exactly as should be, I can decide eather to print some or to print all of the included documents.
So it seams as if there exists a bug which does't cause trouble for numerically enough people to become mentioned.
Who found out this solution?: http://www.m-dv.de/

  • History report page prints before printing each new document?cc=us

How do i stop my HP Officejet 6700  Premium from printing a history report page before printing each new document, using Windows 7 & Using Microsoft Word? When I open a document and print it, it prints a history including: File Name; Directory; Template; Title; Subject; Keywords; Comments; creation Date; Change Number; Last Saved On; Last Saved By; Total Editing; Last Printed On; As of Last Printing....
Everything worked perfectly for a year, then I had to reinstall the printer because I deleted it by mistake. I cary it with me when I travel to meetings and didn't have my install disk, so I had to download the install software. I haven't changed any settings in Word, but it appears that the report is generated from Word.
Help will be appreciated. I can't find any other topic like mine to see an already presented solution.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
The report indeed being generated by Word and not by the pritner driver.
As you did not clarify your MS Office version I included the steps for Word 2010, I believe the same should also apply for Word 2007:
From Word click the File menu, then select Options.
Select Display from the left pane.
Under the Printing Options sections, uncheck the box next to Print document properties.
Click OK and try printing again.
If you cannot find the specific option, please clarify your exact Microsoft Wiord version.

  • How do I print a pdf document in large type

I need to print the following document: http://www.mta.info/maps/service_guide_web_Jun10.pdf
I set the viewing size to 150%, but when I print the document it comes out too small to read.  How do I get the document to print in the size I set for viewing?

    Hello,
I'm not a specialist, but I think that you could configure these information in the /Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf file
    # Aliases: Add here as many aliases as you need (with no limit). The format is
    # Alias fakename realname
    <IfModule mod_alias.c>
        # Note that if you include a trailing / on fakename then the server will
        # require it to be present in the URL.  So "/icons" isn't aliased in this
        # example, only "/icons/"..
        Alias /icons/ "/appli/9IAS/Apache/Apache/icons/"
        Alias /jservdocs/ "/appli/9IAS/Apache/Jserv/docs/"
        Alias /javacachedocs/ "/appli/9IAS/javacache/javadoc/"

  • When adding security with 9.0 Pro Text in Document disappears!

I need to add no print/no edit security to a PDF.  When I do this, the text of the entire document disappears after I save it.  Why is this happening?  Even when I close and open the document again, it opens as essentially a blank document.
When I remove the security and save it again, the text of the document magically appears!  What is up with this?  Can anyone help?

You need to update AA9. I am not sure which subversion was needed to work with x64 systems. Generally the initial releases have not worked with x64 systems. I think that AA9 will work with x64, but only after updating. The current version of AA9 is 9.5.2. Some have still reported problems with x64 systems after upgrading, but without the upgrade you can probably forget it.

  • Why will my Imac (1 yr old) only print the full document in half a page?

Why will my IMAC only print the full document in half a page? All updated IOS downloads.  My Laptop Mac does not do this, so I feel it is not the printer, but the actual computer.  The full document is printed, it is just half a page, other half is blank.  This is presenting a huge problem for school and also when I need to print a shipping label ( which I do often) for my business.  I have several printers and it performs the mistake on all of them.  Thank you!

Make sure the scale in the Print window is set to 100%

  • Cancel Printing of individual document during EA29

    Hi,
In our requirement, we are creating only one spool request for say about 1000 print documents. Now, based on some validation, I need to prevent one of the invoice (not validated) from updating in spool request. I tried using Macro MAC_PRINT_CANCEL and MAC_PRINT_CANCEL_REPEAT.
These macros are giving the error message in the application log for the failed record, but at the same time, it is getting updated in the spool request.
EG~: I have selected the print of 10 records. When I am running EA29 with the condition that all 10 records are in one single spool.
In this case, suppose print document no. 5 fails the validation, I am calling MAC_PRINT_CANCEL in the During LOOP of the DOC_HEADER node.  In this case, after output, the application log has the message of 1 failed record, but at the same time, it is also present in the success log and is partially included for the Spool request.
The output spool has data for all 10 print documents, but it should have 9 as 1 has been cancelled.
The print date of the document is not updated.
Can you please suggest, if there is any way, I can cancel the print of one document from the particular set and have 9 in the output.
P.S> - We are using only one spool request per 1000 documents.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rajesh Popat

    Hi NimalyaC,
    Thanks for your response.
But in this case as well, the standard WRITE process for spool would create the default header at the start of each record. In this case, I need to carry out all the validations before actual print of text elements begin.
In some cases, I have all the values available in the HEADER_NODE, but not all cases are handled. Some of the values for payment / other items comes later in the NODE. I need to explicitly duplicate the NODE to perform validations.
My requirement is to roll back all the text elements that are processed for this record if the validation of any data in the lower node fails.
MAC_PRINT_CANCEL does not delete the text that is printed till the point the cancel event is triggered causing partial entry of record in the spool.
So, if you could help if there is any way the spool data can be rolled back for the particular record it would be really helpful.
    Thanks,
    Rajesh Popat

  • Print a KM document displayed in the portal

    Hi Experts,
I'm implementing ESS MSS for a client and I was asked to add an iview in the same page as Address to inform employees which other companies/phone provider.. they should inform when they change their address.
I added a KM document with the different addresses they should contact and displayed on the right on the screen like they asked.
Now they want to add a print button in order to print this KM document directly from the portal, I suggested the 'by default' browser's print clicking in the right button but they refuse (because the page is printed and not only the KM iview), they want to have a seperate button to print just the KM document.
    Any suggestion guys?
    Thanks you

In this case nothing to do with the KM Document iview.
You need to write your custom code in the KM document for getting the print button and print functionality.
