Printer will not work on window 7

I have a Lexmark 4200 series printer and downloaded the cd on windows 7. It will not print. I try installing the program and then I was going to try and reinstalling but when I do it says you can't install until the printer is through printing??

Open Devices and Printers in Control Panel. Right-click the printer in questions and click Remove Device.
Install a printer
Is this the driver download?

Have you checked the Print Service log in event viewer?
Here's How.
I have the Microsoft XPS driver on my clients, so I use that fact to my advantage below.
Click Start Button/Administrative Tools/Remote Desktop Services/Remote Desktop Services Manager on the RDSH server
Click the Sessions tab. PC’s are listed Under Client Name by their computer name. Take Note of the corresponding
ID. We will use this to locate the Printer information in the Event Log.
In the Event Log open Application and Services Logs/Microsoft/Windows/Print Service/Admin/ and Find the Event ID 823 entry that has the corresponding ID from the sessions tab you previously noted.
This Event Log Entry is created at Logon and you can only get the session ID when they are logged in.
This tells you what client printer was mapped for the client. The name that appears is the name of the Printer that was set on the client when the printer was installed.
See if you see any errors here.
If you see Event Id 823 with the following message “The default printer was changed to Microsoft XPS Document Writer,winspool,Ne00:. See the event user data for context information.” Twice in a row with no other messages in between, and the first occurs
at the time the user logged in, then their printer was not properly redirected.
You see the Microsoft XPS driver mapped for each session prior to Easy Print redirecting the client machine’s Default Printer.
Since your printer is the HP 1020 I would bet the driver on the client does not work with Easyprint. I would try the the HP Universal Print Driver or the driver for a printer that is very close, like the HP 1018.

I found the solution in another thread. Thanks to frankglyn who posted it there.
I've just copied it here, as this seems to be the most active thread on this subject.
The solution (steps A to C) worked fine for me and others and should work for you as well, until Kodak will come with an updated driver. Then, you can revert the changes as also described below (steps 1 to 7)
A) in Spotlight Type Terminal and then press enter.
This should bring up the terminal window/program.
B) In the Terminal type sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf'
It will ask for your password.
C) After that type following: sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
After that if you are lucky the printer driver should start to work. (which it did in my case)
I hope this works out for you, if not then you can do following to revert the changes:
In case you want/have to revert the changes:
1) Open the terminal as usual (Spotlight type Terminal hit enter and wait for the terminal window to appear)
2) then type: cd /etc/cups
3) then type: sudo nano cups-files.conf
4) 'type in your password'
This brings up a command line editor which you can use to edit the file
5) Remove the last line which says Sandboxing Relaxed
6) press 'ctrl x'
And then confirm with y when being asked if you want to save the changes
7) after that type sudo launchctl start org.cups.cupsd

Printer will not work after update to Mavericks

I have a macbook pro and an HP7280 printer connected wirelessly. After upgrading to Mavericks the printer will not work. The first time I used it the system upgraded automatically (I forget what it said but it just went ahead and did some upgrading) When I clicked on something to print it did recognized the printer but just scrolled and scrolled and never printed. So I deleted the printer and reset the system and then added the printer back on - same thing. Any ideas??

It means there is no issue with the driver you are using and with it working correctly on Mavericks. So you have a network issue with the printer queue you are using. Normally a reset of the printing system and re-adding the printer would be enough to get things working again. But since you have done this and your issue is not resolved, there must be some other gremlins in the system.
With the HP connected to the network, if you know its IP address you can enter this as a URL into a web browser. This should result in you connecting to the internal web page of the HP. Does this work?

HP-2840 needs new drum (Q3964A) and I am told my printer will not work when I install a new drum

My HP2840 laser jet All-InOne has been telling me for 6 months that I need a new drum. I was waiting until I saw an issue with my print quality (which I never had a problem) and now my printer will not work unless I replace the drum.
A friend told me that even after installing a new OEM drum, that my printer will still not work unless I call HP and pay for them to tell me how to make it work.
Is that true?
I need help fast cause now my wife is really angry that I "broke" the printer!

I see that you are getting the error code " 0xc19a0022 " .
I do have a few steps that we can try.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. I have downloaded PSE13 trial version and it will not work with Windows 7

I have been using PSE 13 for 3 months with no problems. When I launch the Editor in PSE 13 this is what I get -

I upgraded from leopard to lion and my epson printer will not work. I get a communication error

I upgraded from leopard to lion and my Epson printer will not work. I get a error message comunication error. What can Ido to fix this I bought a new USB cord and it did no good.

I suddenly had the same thing happen. I've had my new iMac for 3 months and at first my Epson Artisan 50 worked okay then yesterday I started getting the same error message other people on this support site have gotten. I tried ALL the advice given (deleating the Epson files from the library folder, etc. reinstalling older software) and nothing worked. With the newest iMac (and operating system) you cannot pick and choose which version of Epson software you want. You must use the 10.8 version or it simply will not open when you've downloaded it. Finally I found the comment above by den.thed and tried the OS X Mountain Lion: Reset the printing system suggested. As much as I hated to lose all my printing presets that took a lot of expiermentation to set up, I was desperate. I tried it and it worked. Now I just have to consult my old computer and try to recreate all my printing set ups. So to others with Epson / Apple 10.8 issues this may help when everything else fails. Perifials will not work with Windows 7

I have a new HP h8 1214 PC WiFi with Windows 7 installed. My old HP ScanJet 4850 and my HP Personal Media Driove 1600 will not install. My previous operating system was XP.
I would like to install the ScanJet 4850 because it can send slides and film strips to my computer to be used in a slide show with Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Premiere. I have started a slide show of these items and did not get all of the slides transferred before my old computer conked out.
I would like to use my Personal Media Drive for backup and it also has pictures I would like to be able to obtain.
I don't know if perifials that are not WiFi will install on a WiFi computer. Apparently not!

The reason the CD will not work is evident. The CD is for Windows 98, XP Home or XP Professional.
The WIN 7 64bit downloaded driver file is what you need. Download and install the driver.
Here is a link ( see pg 5 and 11) that discussed the power supply for a PMD drive, your's may vary. But you must have a power supply (modular plug with cord), or brick/adapter (has AC cord into power supply, then another cord that supplies DC).

HDX 9010nr, Radeon 2600 will not work with WIndows 7

Apparently, HP is not going to support the HDX 9010nr for Windows 7. That's the bad news, the good news is that it "mostly" works.
The only big issue is that the display driver stops every few minutes and then restarts. So you sit there for thirty seconds while the machine recovers. But, it doesn’t support a second screen; and worse, every 10th time the video driver crashes; it locks up the whole machine.
ATI has a version of the Radeon 2600 software that worked with the Release Candidate (RC) of Windows 7, but it will not work with the shipped version of Windows 7. ATI recommends that you get a version from your hardware vendor. Which brings me back to the first sentence. HP isn't supporting the 9010nr.
The question is do any of the "supported" HP laptops have the ATI Radeon 2600? If so, might that work on the HDX 9010nr?

HP Photosmart C6180 All-in-One printer will not work

Printer worked one day and the next day it did not and now will not turn on. I did not turn it off. It went off all by itself. Only 3 years old and not over used. Have checked outlet and power cable. Green LED light comes on when connected to outlet but as soon as I connect it to the printer, the light goes out and the printer will not turn on. Is it dead?

My scanner on the MF4370dn will not work with Windows 8 or 8.1.

I have a Canon MF4370dn which the scanner portion has not worked right since I got a computer with windows 8 and will not work at all since I downloaded windows 8.1.
I have reloaded the scanner tools, tried the Presto! PageManager that came with the oomputer. I have downloaded the latest drivers for the scanner from the site.
It worked with Windows 7 fine, but that computer no longer is functional and I use my scanner often.
Any ideas?
