Printers Again

Hi all. I've just installed a Time Machine to replace the Airport Express I was using before.
The TM is much better, but no I can't print/scan, nor find the device on the network nor can the printer find my network.
I'm using a MacBook Pro, OSX 10.6.8.
Time Capsule version is 7.6.1
Printer is an HP
Not the most savvy of computer people, so any tips would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

The printer is recognied when it's plugged in to the TC. Prints fine, but will not scan...
It is a wireless printer, I have been trying to print by wireless. The Printer will not find the wireless network, nor can I find it on the network....
Type is HP Photosmart Plus B209.
It was working fine when I was using the Airport Express, so I know it works. Just since I installed the TC, it won't work.. Even reinstalled all the software/drivers etc..!

  • Installed 10.7.3 software update, HP printers do not work anymore

I installed the latest software update. None of my HP printers work anymore. I have an HP Deskjet 2330, and an HP C5580 All In One. I tried resetting and then I added the printers again. It did not work. I have a 13 inch Mac Book Pro that was made in early 2011. It has a 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7 processor and 8GB of memory.
When I use my all-in-one as a copy machine, it works fine.  When I try to print something in it, I get a message that it is sending data to the printer and then nothing happens. The printer just sits there. The 2330 has a different problem. It acts like it is printing, but no images form on the paper. I replaced the ink cartridge and it made no difference. I tried cleaning the print heads on both but got an error message after a while. Both printers worked well for years. The problem started suddenly after the software update. I find scattered complaints on the web about this, but nothing particularly helpful for my situation. Help!

Are the printers connected to the Mac via USB or are they networked.
If they are USB connected, then you could try a reset of the printing system. This will remove all devices from Print & Scan, but not the supporting drivers, so you will only have to add the printers again.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus N911g Devices and Printers Page Is Slow to Open

Hello, I have HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, model N911g, installed as a wireless printer.  I have Windows 7 64-bit.  My Devices and Printers page takes over two minutes to open.  While I am waiting, if I go to Print Spooler Services and click Restart, the page opens right away.  Once the page is open, in the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus device, I ran Troubleshooter and it took about 1/2 hour to finish, and it reported and supposedly fixed a problem in the Print Spooler service.  The assigned Port looks like a recovered port.  However, if I restart the PC and try to open Devices and Printers again, the delay is still present.  I had trouble installing the HP program including the Scan to PC functionality, because response time was so slow.  Now it's installed and working, but the HP program is quite slow to open.  The spinning circle spins and then stops, almost like it has given up opening the program. Then several minutes later the program opens or the requested action begins.

Check the document I linked below. Step 6 might be the solution you are looking for but it will not hurt to start from the top.

  • How to adjust the color profile on Macbook Pro/IMAC for Brother printers?

    Hi,
We have both iMACs and MacbookPro w/Leopard 10.5.4 in our office. They also run the Parallels software with Windows XP. We have 2 color printers in the office, a Canon and a Brother 4070cdw. When I make a color print, the output looks very different from the 2 printers. The Brother printer produce very light copies, almost look like there's a white wash over it. I called Brother and went through all kinds of test and they finally said it's not the printer, but the color setting on the Mac. I didn't believe them at first, but then i did a test. I print a color page from the WindowsXP side on my Mac, and print the same page from the Mac side, and the results are very surprising. They look very different, like from 2 different printers; again, the one form MAc is very light.
I then opened up "system perferences" and tried to play around with the different color profiles under "Display". But the changes did not affect the print outcome much. Please help. Thank you very much.

To prepare a computer for sale or donation, in addition to the steps mentioned in this support article, take these steps:
If you set a firmware password, remove it by running Firmware Password Utility in Recovery mode.
If you activated FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, turn it off.
If you use Boot Camp, the partition must be deleted
If you created any other data partitions on the internal drive, remove them in Disk Utility.
Erase the data partition(s) with the option to zero out data. An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.
You can't legally or practically transfer any software downloaded from the Mac App Store to the new owner of the machine, even if it was free. That includes OS X, so if you paid for an upgrade OS X 10.7 or later, you must reinstall  the original OS, either from the installation media, if applicable, or by booting into Internet Recovery (option-command-R at the startup chime.)
The new owner will have to repurchase the software, if need be, under his or her Apple ID. If you ever updated the bundled iLife applications (Garage Band, iMovie, and iPhoto) through the App Store, you can't transfer them either.
Remove the machine from your list of registered products. If it's still covered by an AppleCare Protection Plan, transfer the coverage to the new owner by following the instructions in the AppleCare Terms and Conditions (under the heading "Transfer of Plan.")

  • Can't add printers.

I'm running Mavericks on a mid-2010 MacBook Pro. Up until I upgraded, I was able to access my ImageRunner iRC3220 and HP 4MP Laserjet printers on my wired network. After the OS upgrade, the printers remained idle and unresponsive in the utility. I reset the printers in the System Preferences, and I added them with no problem…
HOWEVER, after a day, I had the idle problem again, and when I reset the printers again, I tried to add my network printers and each time I got a message saying “Unable to download the software from the server at this time” for all printers.
I'm at a dead stop, so how do I access them and keep them stable?

I also tried downloading the newest driver from Canon, and wound up with a "CNRC322X1.PPD.gz". Is this correct and where the heck do I put it? I followed the path System>Library>Frameworks> but there's no Application Serivces and that's where I got lost.

  • I can't install any printers

Two of my USB printers failed to show up on my printer list. After trying several times to get them working, I switched them out for two other printers. I used the install CD and all went well but the two newer printers still didn't show up on my printer list. I click on "add printers" and only my Dymo label maker shows up. I've unplugged power and the USB cable and still nothing. Help......

Hope these allow your system to see your printers again

  • Cannot print to OpenDirectory printers, print button does not respond

Since I upgraded to Lion I can no longer print to the network printers in our office (which is an MS environment using Active Directory). And, Yes, I have deleted them and added the printers again after upgrading to Lion.
What happens is that the print button in the dialog just blinks and the dialog is never dismissed. (No printing occurs either.)
The printers in question are an HP 4250n (and I've tried both with the native driver and the generic). The other printer is a Konica Minolta C452 PS. Since Lion is not yet supported I've tried with the generic PS driver.
I found this link http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/149011-cannot-print-from-lion-to-microsoft -print-services-active-directory where another user has the same problem as me. Unfortunately our printers are not listed under the Windows tab.
I'm seriously considering downgrading to Snow Leopard if I cannot get this to work. Any hints please?

I made a workaround by adding the printer as an IP-printer using the LPD-protocol. Now printing works again!

  • Printing on printers shared on XP box

this is to do with two printers I have at home. a HP 1010 and a Cannon iP5000. When I plub then into the mac they are detected and pick up the correct drives. However when I share them on the XP box (I'm using it as a file and print share box for the rest of the network) I can't seem to find the right drivers for it. I downloaded the GIMP drivers but they still don't appear. Alot of other posts suggest holding down the option key when clicking more printers which will give and advanced option - I've tried this but nothing happens - it just goes to the select printer page.
I'm sort of running out of ideas.........

I don't think "Advanced" will give you any option you need -- but if you can't get to it, that may indicate a problem with your OS X installation. When I hold down the option key and click More Printers, I get the printer browser window, and the only change is that the very top pull-down menu has the "Advanced" choice at the bottom of the list.
I think you were on the right track by downloading/installing the Gutenprint 5.0.0 drivers. There is definitely a Laserjet 1010 driver there. Unfortunately, the only newer Canon inkjet in there is the iP4000. (PAHU is pretty knowledgable about Canons - he'll probably respond here, too. Maybe the iP4000 driver will work for your iP5000?) I know for certain that the iP5000 is supported for network printing by the printfab drivers (www.printfab.net).
If you haven't already, Repair permissions and restart the Mac and try Adding the printers again.

  • Scsi emulation and parallel port printers

I'm attempting to get a Microtek ScanMaker V300 installed on my laptop. I've read the man sane-microtek2 but have great difficulty interpretting man pages at the best of times.
    I have a port listed as /dev/parport0 at 0x378, or /dev/lp0  but no /dev/scanner or /dev/sg(x)
Being hardware illiterate I'm at a loss. Seems to have something to do with scsi emulation ??. Just how is the device created.
Any help appreciated (BTW Kernel 2.6.17 sane synced up to date).
The file /etc/sane.d/microtec2.conf exists in the filesystem.
    Where to start?

Mixed news - I have solved one problem only to discover another!
Here's how I managed to get KDE adding printers again:
    # pacman -Rd cups libcups
    # rm -r /etc/cups
    # pacman -S cups libcups
But I find that I cannot scan reliably with the HP PSC 500, getting either a "busy" or "i/o error" message when running XSane; or else it usually loads with scan resolution = 0 instead of 75. But sometimes (say 10%) it works!
I also found the sane-troubleshoot program from http://www.meier-geinitz.de/sane/sts/ and it reports:
[hpaio] failed to open scan channel: scan/sane/hpaio.c 665
    <-- sane_open (hpaio:/par/PSC_500?device=/dev/parport0): Device busy

Also, I wonder whether this comment from http://www.xs4all.nl/~ljm/SANE-faq.html#43 is significant:
7.7. I'm using IDE over SCSI and I keep getting IO-error under xsane.

Just checked again, and I can scan fine with the HP PSC 500, running from the Knoppix 5.3.1 live DVD.

  • Can't install parallel port printers or use printer/scanner

I have two fully upgraded systems, each of which has a parallel device: an HP Laserjet 2100 printer; and an HP PSC 500 printer/scanner/copier. They "worked fine a while ago" (!), but when I try and reinstall them now (as root or user) via the KDE Control Center, I get this error message at the end of the installation:
Unable to create printer: Error message received from manager:
You don't have access to the requested resource
I also notice that under Add Printer / Local printer / Local System / Parallel it only shows 'LPT #1' and not the identifier of the actual device as expected.
I've checked that the devices can be installed and work as expected under the new Knoppix 5.3.1 and Absolute Linux 12.1 distros - and I can successfully scan using the HP PSC 500 too.
Had a look at many error reports in various forums, but these seemed the closest to home:

    http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=45456
    http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de/index … opic=66751
Tried adding lp, parport and parport_pc explicitly to my modules list in rc.conf but no luck. Also, 'dmesg|grep lp' reports:
lp: driver loaded but no devices found
Reinstalled my cups and hplip packages, and tried downgrading them too, to no avail.
This is doing my head in - any fixes most welcome!

  • Hp Printers and Norton 360 Diagnostic Report?

I have had this problem for a long time and have never gotten any postitive solution for it. I have had HP printers for longer than when I started using Norton,But ever since the 5,0 version and later I have had trouble with the Run Diagnostic Report feature that ALWAYS show my HP printer drivers as not installed. Now!  the Printers all work fine except if I go to Device Manager it will show the yelow exclamation mark then I'll update the drivers thru DM,but windows will fail to locate the drivers, but the printers AGAIN I say work fine. Now most of the techs that I've talk to and chatted with at Norton support tell me that as long as the printers work to ignore the Diagnostic Report!!!! Now I have version 6 and the problem still exists. You would think that if it didn't go away in the next version (6) then something is wrong with the software that should REALLY be addressed. Now the over-time effects from this issue is that I might come home and maybe needing to send a fax, print -up a envelop thru Stamps.com or just print and find that my printers dissappeared from  Devices and Printers And then I'm forced to re-install the drivers all over again. (ALWAYS theFull Version) Now with the new drivers I still have the same issue. There is an issue with the Diagnostic Report features the prevents the drivers of my printers from registering as installed. When I go into properties for the printers it says: The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28). But the printers are working???????? I've also talked to many HP support techs online and they take me over and over thru the process of un-installing the software complete and re-installing it and I still end up with the same results. Can anyone please tell me how to fix this issue or who to talk to to get maybe both companies to research this issue???

Now before you suggest installing with the Anti-virus and the firewall off well!! I've done it all. Is there a feature that's not being installed or missing that prevents the drivers from being read properly or at all?? That's stopping it from registering in Device Manager?

  • Adobe PDF Printer not working as print driver; 9.5.5 (pro) with Windows 7, 64 bit

I have installed, repaired, uninstalled and re-installed Acrobat Pro 9.5.5 on a newly formatted SSD with Windows 7, 64 bit on my desktop machine. The program was installed from Acrobat Pro 9.0.0 and updated within the program. I have the program also installed on my laptop, and the Adobe PDF Printer driver is working properly on my laptop.
On my desktop with the newly formatted SSD, the Adobe PDF printer driver is not working. Note that I am using the printer driver, and not any pdf creation techniques within MS Office or other programs.
When I go to the Adobe PDF printing preferences on my desktop, I only get a generic, two tab window open. When I print a file to this printer on my desktop machine, I do not get a window opening that asks where to create the pdf or what to name it, and I never see any files created. In MS Word, the Create PDF option under the Acrobat tab works and opens a dialog to ask the name and location to save, and then opens a PDF Maker progress window and properly creates the file. I can also save a file as an .eps or .ps file and use Distiller to create the pdf. However I cannot get the Adobe PDF printer driver in my Devices and Printers to work properly, although it works just fine on my laptop with the same program (Pro 9.5.5) and same Windows version (7, 64 bit).
Repairing, uninstalling and re-installing does not solve the problem. Acrotray.exe *32 process is running. Any ideas on why this won't run properly on my desktop, but will run on a similarly configured laptop?
On my laptop, I get a full, (7) tabl menu with all the normal options:

I found this answer from Deepak Chauhan on another forum, and it solved this problem!
Try this to add Adobe PDF printer manually on Windows 7, and Windows Vista.
If windows 7 is Enterprise or better edition: (Admin rights required)
Start>search for printmanagement.msc and open the print management module
Expand the print server and expand the computer name to see availbale printers, drivers and printer ports.
    - from printers ensure there's no Adobe PDF printer, if there is delete it
    - go to ports and delete the PDF ports (the ones ending in *.pdf)
    - go to drivers and delete the PDF converter.
Take note if any errors occur, but continue with the following steps regardless.
If on windows 7 home edition, just goto start>Devices and Printers and ensure PDF pritner is not listed.
Then open the registry (if any erors deleting these keys happen, see below)
    1: go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Printers
delete any adobe PDF printer subkey present
    2: go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors
delee the PDF port monitor if present
    3: go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers
again delete and pdf printer subkey
If any erros occur, you need to set the owner of the key to the currently logged in admin user, then ensure that user has full control.
Do this by right-click the key and selecting permissions, clicking on advanced, then the owner tab.
Once you've all that has been done, open a command line as administrator.
Copy and pate the following commands in order
    1: net stop spooler
    2: rundll32.exe setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection AdobePDFPortMonitor 128 C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF\AdobePDF.inf
    3: net start spooler
    4:rundll32.exe printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /if /b "Adobe PDF" /f "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF\AdobePDF.inf" /r "Documents\*.pdf" /m "Adobe PDF Converter"
That should set back the pdf printer.
This seemed to provide the link that provided the Adobe PDF Settings tab to the Adobe PDF Printing Preferences that was missing!

  • Photoshop CS 'Program error' but works in different account

My version of Photoshop CS suddenly stopped working. It said 'program error' when I try to load any files. Then, after quitting, it failed to reload each time.
I have tried reinstalling, then uninstalling fully (through Adobe's uninstall procedure). Also, deleting the preferences and font caches but still no luck. So I downloaded the try out version of CS2 and it installed fine. But it now says exactly the same thing '
I created a new account on the computer and tried it from there - and it worked! So I then copied my preferences to that account and it still worked, so I guess it isn't the preferences.
It seems there is something wrong with my main account but not sure where to look. Is it easy to transfer all setting and all files to the new account?
    Thanks
    Alan

I had a lot of grief with this exact problem. I fixed it by deleting my printers in mac OSX preferences. I have not re-added them yet, but since removing the printers I have not had the problem occur since - and this is after an erase and install, an archive and install, upgrading to CSII and calls to Adobe phone support were of no help. Everything else in the CS suite worked, except photshop. Photoshop would work if I created a new user account, but this work-around was not acceptable to me. In desperation, with deadlines looming, I was about to do another erase and fresh install when I found this:
Solution 6: Re-create your printers in Mac OS X.
To re-create your printers, first delete them and then add them again.
    To delete your printers:
    1. Open System Preferences from the Apple menu.
    2. Select Print & Fax, and click Printing.
    3. Select each printer in the list and click the delete key (the minus key).
For instructions on how to add your printers again, see "Setting up to print to a printer" in Mac Help or search Help using the phrase "add a printer."
    http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/331627.html
That fixed the problem for me and I really hope that helps someone else. This was a terrible and frustrating problem for me, not only am I a design student but I also earn a living using the Adobe software and my mac, and Photoshop is one of my primary tools.

  • Mfp 175

My LaserJet 100 colorMFP M175nw is dropping off the network rather more often than I should have to put up with for a quality product.
I can query the router and the printer is shown as being connected
The IP adress in the config report is identical to that reported by the router
The ethernet cable lights are as expected (gree on, orange flashing)
I am using Wired networking as I have several wireless routers using the same SSID (different channels) and the device is stupidly sensitive to this, unlike everything else I use that just picks up the best. The printer is sitting under the desk that the main router is on and it still tries to connect to others
the EWS does not respond (browser times out)
printing fails as the printer cannot be found
First stage of HP Print and Scan doctor ("The following products are visible from your computer") finds the printer
Click Next and HPP&SDr reports "The selected product is not connected" (so how the hell did it find it in the previous stage, then?)
Force wired connection and try again
This goes back to the "products connected" screen with the printer showing, and hence into the loop desribed in steps 7 & 8
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing all the printer software
And I still cannot print directly
Oh, I can print by using he ePrint - so the network really does know the printer is there
Every time I vow to never buy HP printers again, I let myself down, and they let me down. Maybe this time it will be different, please prove me wrong

    Hi KeithAC,
Thanks for the response.  Unfortunately this type of network configuration will continue to cause issues if not configured in a specific manner.  This process is complicated. You need to set a static IP on each router, and disable DHCP on all but the primary router directly connected to your modem (or the one built-in to your modem/router combo if you have one).  Then you need to make sure all secondary routers are connected to the primary using one of the Ethernet ports, and not the Internet/WAN port.  Click Here to review information related to this process (NOTE: this is a 3rd party website, HP and I are not responsible for the content of this site).  I will try to provide additional information if you are able to provide the needed information below.  Also I have provided some clarification with some of the elements of the last post.
    Need information:
    1. What brand routers are you using?
    2. How are they connected? What port are the cables connected to coming from modem to router, and then to additional routers?
    3. Do you have a modem router combo?
    4. How many routers have DHCP enabled?
    Clarification:
    1. Sleep mode possibilities
         A.  Unfortunately it does not appear to be related to this issue, since the unit responds when Eprint is used
         B.  I can send you the steps to turn this off; however it is unlikely it will help
    2. With an Ethernet connection mobile print function is hindered with how the routers are configured.  Usually when networks are configured this way, parts of the network become segregated which will result in specific devices not communicating with others connected to an alternate router.
    3.  You can reconfigure the driver a few ways without adding a new driver.  What exactly are you trying to change? I can provide additional steps for that.
    4. Intermittent communication: "At the moment, everything is working as it should. I have no idea at all what is different now."
        A. This is typical of this type of network configuration.  Setup and settings have to be configured precisely for this type of configuration to be successful the majority of the time, and even with the correct setup there are still scenarios in which the communication can become bogged.
Disclaimer: making network changes may result in communication issues, HP and I are not responsible for setting or configuration changes made to network
    Hope this helps!

  • Can't get HP DesignJet 500 connected

We are trying to get a Mac with Snow Leopard OS connected to our DesignJet 500. The DJ500 is connected via a Linksys printer server to our Window Server 2003. I've tried a bunch of work arounds, but it either won't connect, has on hold authentication error, or says connected but won't print. I would love any and help or suggestions. I'm super frustrated at this point!
    Thanks!

Sometimes, the Reset Printing System command will get things going when nothing else will. If you haven't tried this, it' worth a shot.
    Open Print & Fax
Right-click in the printers area on the left
    Select +Reset Printing System+
You'll have to setup your printers again and give it another try. If you can get printing going, your all-in-one will only print from the USB port location on the AirPort Extreme. Fax, copy, scan, maintenance, etc are not supported, so you'll need to connect directly to your computer for those services.
I checked to see if the printer was on the compatibility list published by the iFelix site and could not find it. But neither could I find it on the incompatibility list, so there's not much to go on here.
