Printers showing up after Printer Service has been stop or printers deleted

I started setting up the Print service on one of our Mac OS X.5 Servers.
Very simple to do.
At the printer configure and disable all sharing options mDNS, AppleTalk or EtherTalk...
On the server add the printer via IP address and select the correct PPD. In my case I have a couple of the same printer and wanted to setup a print center in a lab. So I disabled all sharing protocols on the server for each printer and then created a Printer Pool...
For some reason the particle printers weren't adding correctly to the clients so I deleted the printers and the pool (not sure in what order I did this).
Now on the client I can still see the Printer Pool and one of the printers from the server even when the service is disabled. The only way they disappear is when I shut the server down or pull it offline.
I found a website that describes this and how to fix it but it's based on Mac OS X.3.x. There must be more steps on Mac OS X.5?
http://macos-x-server.com/wiki/index.php?title=Myprint_queues_behave_erratically,_how_do_I_start_over_and_clear_out_the_oldqueues%3F

I observed the very same behaviour. One more reason not to use Apple's built-in print service.
Try deleting /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.printserviceLPR_mDNSxxxxxxx.plist (where xxxxxxx is the name of the print-queue) and restart the server.

Michael

  • Hyperion s9 administration services wls9 service has been stopped

    Hi ALL,
hyperion s9 administration services wls9 service has been stopped. Please let me know where can I find the reason.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Once you configured EAS through configuration utility and say deploy it on an application server like Weblogic and registered as window services then only "Hyperion S9 Administration Services ATS5" will be visible in Control Panel-->Administartive tools --> Services.
First check have you configured EAS as window services or not - If Essbase Administration Server is installed and running as a Windows service, you cannot start
Essbase Administration Server manually because the default port number is being used by the Windows service. If you try to start Essbase Administration Server manually, an error message is displayed indicating that the port is in use.
    Hope it will help you.
    Atul K,

  • Printers keep showing up even when name has been changed in or deleted

Running 10.5.8 on our xserve.  Earlier another and myself went in and changed printer names, deleted old ones.  Problem is this.  Our school recently bought new laptops for our teachers, running 10.8.  We used migration asst. to bring their items and profiles over to the new machines.  As teachers are getting back, they can not print.  The printers showing up are the old names, along with the new ones and the drivers that were installed are not there.  Wondering how to get rid of the printers that have been deleted from showing up in the Printer list.  I was thinking it had something to do with the old profiles sharing all the printer lists accross the network.

The Migration Assistant (or something else) obviously found the old printer definitions... Somewhere.  AFAIK, there's no sharing of any of these printer settings across the network, barring continued visibility of the old printer names via printer Bonjour announcements or some such, or getting the printer settings loaded into the clients via LDAP.
One usual approach for managing larger numbers of client boxes involves tools such as Munki and Puppet, or equivalent.  Munki generally for the package-handling and installation stuff, and Puppet for the configuration management and issuing commands.
Various commercial MDM software packages are also used.
With OS X and OS X Server 10.8, a printer profile would be another common approach, though your 10.5.8 server well predates any profile support.  (The MDM packages also usually tie directly into the profile management, as can Puppet.

  • Microsoft Exchange Transport Service has been stopped.

I changed out failing drives on a customers SBS 2011 which uses Intel Rapid Storage Technology. I saw that it had an option to email a failing condition to up to three addresses. I configured it but got the Could Not Connect error from the RST software.
I Googled the condition and determined that I needed to install another Receive Connector on a different port, which is what I tried.
I opened all of the receive connectors in the MS Exchange Console - Server Configuration - Hub Transport section. As far as I know I did not change anything there, I just looked and cancelled. None of the new receive connectors I configured worked., Everytime
one configuration made no difference I deleted the connector, re added a connector using different options and tried the RST email test again.
Getting nowhere, I deleted the last new connector I configured, Closed the Exchange management console figuring I had a job for some time in the future when things were slow.
This morning I get the call No e-mail, and found the Exchange Transport Service stopped. I restarted it, made sure it was set to automatic, and it ran for about 3 minutes and then stopped. Right now I am keeping my customer working by starting the service
    every 5 to 10 minutes.
Since I am not going to stay here indefinitely restarting the service, I need help!

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out. I finally got an error from the logs, in fact there are so many errors in the log I don't even know which one to follow. It gets a cluster of errors every 5 minutes (6 errors one critical) but that is when the transport
is shut down. I am relaying the first message that comes up after I restart the transport.

I am going to stop one of my phones' voice services, any ideas that might affect the phone that I might and might not be able to turn it on?

no, has nothing at all to do with the phone but rather your phone service, and that Is between you and your network carrier.

  • Service has been cancelled

This has given me a headache….
11 Months ago I cancelled my bt vision service due to my Freeview signal not been good enough... I received a pre-paid package from BT to send it back, which I did.
Fast forward 6 months, I realised I was still being charged for BT vision when I moved house, fair enough, rung the call centre “ yes sir I do apologise for this we will make sure this is rectified “
2 Weeks ago I realised that it is still going on, so I called the contact centre bouncing around from department to department, having the phone hung up every time I tried to speak to a senior member of the team, I finally got through to someone after 2 hours. They advised me that this will be resolved and a refund of £137.50 would be credited to my account. I had stated I would not pay my bill because I am owed this, when it is credited they can post the credit to the account. 1 day later my phone and broadband are suspended. So I make the call again… after 2 and a half hours of department hopping I get through to the BT vision billing department explain what has happened for what felt like the 100th time, to be told there’s not a lot they can do. They reorder the Vision account to be cancelled; they manually reactivate my connection, Great! But the credit I will need to speak to a supervisor “I will be transferred “ I am told… 45 minutes holding I look at the clock.. 8:00pm and unsurprisingly the line goes dead and all the helpful little call centre bees strudel off home.
Next day after laying in be contemplating turning Amish just due to convenience really, I head off to work.. Not before checking my emails before I leave.. But what’s this ahh my service has been stopped again WOO!  So I get home from work.. I make the call again Blah Blah Blah wrong department, another person blah blah blah.. That’s the summery of an hour and a half. I hang up to go and eat... Ring back get through to a helpful gentleman, who says they will re cancel my vision because it doesn’t look like it’s been done and restart my service... and get the credit issued. Brilliant
So happy as can be problem seems to be sorted.. But waiiiit Tuesday morning I wake up get some breakfast get dressed, check my email before work it’s still working. 9am my phone goes it’s the wife my head thinks ack did I leave the loo seat up or something. No no BT have cut off our phone and internet... But not even the friendly cut off where I can still ring them from the landline... Full account cancellation. Sighhhh
So home from work hi to the wife, hi to the kid.. back on the phone to my bit on the side good ole’ BT. Department bouncing, we cant help you, blah blah blah, cut off, ring back etc etc. Finnaly I get through to a lovely lady in Sunderland who is nice as pie, she’s going to help me..we go onto a conference call with a manager somewhere.. the helpful soul who I spoke to on Friday put a cancellation on for my whole account.. and also there’s 12 cancellation order’s pending for my BT vision account. To get it sorted it’s going to take a day.
So I rang back yesterday got through to a call centre obviously not in Sunderland.. apparently they can’t transfer me to the helpful Mackem team but alas she is able to email them and asked them to call be back within half hour. So that was 19 hours ago. I’ve been without a stable service for 2 weeks, your chucking more and more late charges on and a cancellation fee. What I may do is charge you a late cancellation fee of 11 months plus the 24+ hours total I’ve been on the phone to you (of which I’ve probably only spoke to a human for 2 hours) So either someone fixes this shocking customer service or I am going to become Amish.

I am unable to register my debit card after creating my apple ID. Whenever i click "continue" after filling all the debit card details, it shows that, "Your payement method has been declined". Please help me people, why is it so.? Also, i would ike to tell that my bank is, Union Bank Of India and it facilitates the auto conversion, rupee to dollar.. I think there is a different problem. Please help me guys.!!

The card must be issued in the same country as the store you are trying to use. If you're trying to sign up for the US Apple Store, it must be a US card with a US billing address. If you're trying to sign up in India, it must be an Indian card with an Indian billing address.
Apple will run a small charge, which will be credited back, to make sure the card is valid. If it is a debit card and you do not have enough in the account to cover the authorization, it will be declined.
It is possible the currency conversion you mentioned may be causing a problem. Contact the issuing bank if you are sure you have enough in the account and you are signing up for the correct store.

The reason, I included the annotation that I'd upgraded my Itunes, (On my Computer) is B/C in many forums - the very first question, *HELPERS* ask, is. "Do you have the latest version of Itunes downloaded on your computer." I wanted to knock out any obvious replies.
Now-  "DO YOU have any idea,"... how your UNHELPFUL remarks, do absolutely nothing but hurt others that might not have the EXPERIENCE you have? How do you expect people to know things without asking questions? Whew! RUDE!!

    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

  • Service has been great for a week - ping loss afte...

    Hi,
I've recently switched from virgin media and I must say the service has been amazing so far. The ping times are far more reliable and there is absolutely no jitter on the line what so ever.
A few days ago the internet disconnected for an hour or 2 at around 1am. It wouldn't come back on after rebooting the router (the one that connects to the phone socket) a couple of times so I just called it a night and it was working again in the morning. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the problems I've been having but lately I've been noticing packet loss on the line in the evenings / early hours of the morning, as evidenced by this TBB graph:
    http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/0f41cf302992a582e75f9e9f9b410a75-13-04-2013.html
The spikes are very intermittent and last only for a second or 2 before returning to normal but it's wreaking havoc with trying to game on it. A normal ping-test shows a good connection:
    http://www.pingtest.net/result/79789653.png
There's also times where the average ping will spike up to 100-200ms for a couple of minutes and then return to normal.
Please help! I've been very happy with my connection so far. I am not using the router supplied from BT but instead am using an Asus N66U which is quite new. The router is known to work perfectly and I've been rebooting both boxes to try and resolve connection issues.
Edit: Just gave everything another power cycle. The connection went from this:
    http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/0f41cf302992a582e75f9e9f9b410a75-13-04-2013.html
    To this:
    http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/576c8e4182cc4fe33e35a7bef969207c-13-04-2013.html
The only difference I can see is ping times are a little higher, but the connection for the hour or so it's been on looks absolutely solid instantly after a restart. What could be causing this issue?

    Hi David,
Thanks for the reply. I couldn't find a reply e-mail address or anywhere to login to reply, so I sent the email to forum.moderation.team email. Just incase that's the wrong thing to do, I'll post what I said below:
The speeds I'm getting are fine - many sites are reporting 38mbit down and ~8mbit up which is what I expect from the connection.
For the past few days the connection has been good, as you can see by the TBB graph here:
    http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/efadfec0b36f986da8f5aaf592db0b43-21-04-2013.html
There were tiny blips of packet loss at 2pm and 6pm but nothing major.
The problem is that there appears to be random blips of latency throughout the day, even at early hours of the morning as you can see here:
    http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/4a10c0e969e6a5f3f72644516cb7526b-16-04-2013.html
On this graph the spikes started just before 12am.
The spikes themselves aren't major and only last for a few seconds, but it's very annoying if I or anyone in the house is using the connection for gaming at the time.
The has been a couple of nights (namely about a week after installation) that the connection has been absolutely horrendous - see the graph in the original enquiry (http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/0a49bc6365c0c2cac05c3137b03e118d-14-04-2013.html) that when I reset the modem going into the telephone box the connection will return to perfect again instantly.
There's nothing more I can tell you really, except that the connection is generally perfect apart from these little blips of packet loss.
    Thanks,
    Stephen
    edit:
Here's a graph from yesterday, you can still see tiny blips of packet loss:

Worse fact is no one at the company seems to care. Right now the immediate issue is no service. I cannot do business this way.

You used the data.  Verizon can not see what it was sued for.  However your phone can see whats apps used the data.  go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle.  line the dates up with your cycle.  then there will be a bar graph below that   extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right.  after those are extended below that will be a list of apps,  there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

  • Cannot create a session after the response has been committed (Tomcat 6)

I'm getting a rather annoying error when I try to open a pretty basic JSP page.
I'm rather new to the whole JSP scene, so I'm following the example found on pages 287 and onwards in "JSF in Action - Manning" in case anyone wanted to check my code against the source.
I've searched for about 4 hours now, coming back to this site a couple of times, once reading about writeouts and stuff. But I'm not really sure this is the issue in this case and if it is, where exactly the problem lies.
I've already fixed a number of errors I got (jtsl.jar and standard.jar missing etc...) but this particular problem is driving me (and my co-workers for that matter :-) ) up the wall.
Anyone willing to help me out here?

When searching for this error, this was the first page google gave me. I found the answer and just in case anyone else stumbles in here with the same question I thought I'd share my findings.
Unfortunately, if your problem is the same as mine, you're going to feel pretty silly. I was navigating to the wrong page. If MyFaces(when running tomcat) tries to resolve to a page that doesn't exist, the error given above is what happens.
In my case I accidentally put my .jsp page into the wrong directory and ended up banging my head against the wall for an hour figuring that out. Hope this helps someone.
