Printing a report

I'd like to open this discussion because i did not find much information on the net, and maybe someone has already tried out this.
I'm facing the problem of printing a report with my application and I'm having problem figuring out how to insert into a Jdeveloper project this feature....maybe a servlet ?
Can someone point me the way ?

printing on the web, as you experience it on major websites is done by first viewing the content and then asking the user to press the browser's print button.
As long as you don't download software to the client you don't have much control. So if you are on an Intranet side thes eare your options:
1. Use Oracle Reports and have client printers being network printers configured to the server running Reports Server
2. Check orarrp, which requires people to download a piece of software that registers specific file extensions to be printed directly. The orarrp utiloity is not what we provide as a supported product, but you will get the idea and - if you like it - are welcome to use it.

If you are having Swing client, then using teh Java printing API also is an option.

Hi All,
I have a requirement to develop the custom print Quote Report. When i review the standard pring quote report ,I found a call like <?call-template:TermsTemplate?>.

Questions on Print Quote report

I'm fairly new to Oracle Quoting and trying to get familiar with it. I have a few questions and would appreciate if anyone answers them
1) We have a requirement to customize the Print Quote report. I searched these forums and found that this report can be defined either as a XML Publisher report or an Oracle Reports report depending on a profile option. Can you please let me know what the name of the profile option is?
2) When I select the 'Print Quote' option from the Actions drop down in the quoting page and click Submit I get the report printed and see the following URL in my browser.

No, there is no conc program getting called, you can directly call a report in a browser window, Oracle reports server will execute the report and send the HTTP response to the browser.4) If we want to customize the jsp pages can you please let me know the steps involved in making the customizations and testing them.

Print crystal report without using the print button on toolbar

Hi,
I am working on Crystal report XI. I need to print the report w/o using the toolbar. So I have inserted a print icon in the report. On clicking that icon it should call a jsp page which will print the report. I am not able to call any print methods provided by JRC to do this.
Can someone help me with this problem.
Is there some other way to implement it ?

Print the report where? On what printer? The server's printer?
Java code runs on the server. You can't affect the client's computer from JSP.
You can write javascript code which can call window.print() but that is working through the browser to display the print dialog box (as if the user selected file:print)

Print a report on doc format truncate data

I have a report launching with a form in an oracle applications, when I print a report on pdf format looks ok
but when I print the same report on doc format truncate data on left and right side.

Reports does not support .doc format. Are you referring .rtf format?
In any case, you must contact Oracle Support to get the issue resolved.

Print the report on page has width larger than height and not landscape mode

Hi,
I'm trying to print report on page (Width: 18cm, Height: 13cm) which the width larger than the height.
The problem is windows keeps changing the page oreintation to landscape and when I change it back to portrait its changing the width to 13cm and height to 18cm.
I'm using dot matrix printer to print the report, if i put Landscape , printer is printing the text in horizontal.
Already i have tried to setup the custom for on printer, and used custom page size but it is changing to landscape.
I need to print the report with out preview, direct print top printer, NO PDF....

After testing the issue in my environment, I can reproduce it. When I set (Width: 18cm, Height: 13cm) as the Report Page size, it would automatically convert Orientation from Portrait to Landscape. Because the Orientation displayed is dependent on the page
width and page height of the report.
But in my scenario, the Orientation option just change the Width and Height sizes, it couldn’t affect the text rotation. I guess this issue can be caused by the printer and printer driver, please try to update them. Reference:

Problem on print a report in mode character

hi, i have oracle 8i and reports 6i, my reports it's generate in mode character, when i send to print (printer epson fx1180), the print is bad, (i configure the prt files example: bold esc "E", Unbold esc "F"),
MY problem is with windows 2000, i send to print on windows 98 and all good, but now i have windows 2000, anybody help me to config the printers file for windows 2000

You can create a PDF file using the [itext |http://www.lowagie.com/iText/] library
you can create reports using jasperreports
you can print the reports and save them as PDF,EXCEL ,HTML and more...
(jasperreports is using the [itext |http://www.lowagie.com/iText/] library )
you can edit your reports using ireport

Error in Printing Crystal Report Directly to Printer using SDK Code

I allow users to download reports using the Interactive Reports Region.
If you use that method then you can insert a title at the top of the report by populating the Report Region > Print Attributes (TAB) > Page Header
Note: This is available when using APEX coupled with Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher. It does not work with "CSV" output.

Print landscape report in character mode

Hi!
It seems that I should change xxx.prt file in DESFORMAT parameter to match different kinds of printers in order to print landscape report in character mode.
Our customers are international wide. How can I do to make this setting meet every customer for printing reports in landscape style?
We will run the reports on Unix on the middle tier and customers read them in browser.

This sounds like a similar problem that I had (and still having). It was (is) a Bug. Go to metalink.oracle.com and reference this bug#1413754. See if this is your problem as well. My only work around was change the format of the file instead of using character mode I am now using PDF. Which is working fine for me.

Print a report adapted a single page.

Hi,
I have a report in Answer that is printed on two pages.
I wish that when I choose to print the report in pdf, it is adapted a single page.
Is it possible from OBIEE?

Thanks, I was afraid that the answer was "Publisher".
Unfortunately you can decrease the font size in the cell of the report ....
You can not edit the xml report to adapt it to the page?

Print HTML Report.vi doesn't scale properly.

LV 8.5.1, Report Generation Toolkit, XP. Our application uses the Print HTML Report.vi to print an HTML report.
We found that on some installations the resulting page does not scale properly. Instead of being one page wide,
the printout is about 1.5 pages wide (and proportionately longer), leading to our report being truncated.
Tried different printers, different print drivers, no difference.
Finally we noticed that the affected computers all had Internet Explorer 6 installed. Updating to Internet
Explorer 7 fixed the problem. Don't know about IE8, I expect that will work as well.
Hopefully this will help someone else who runs across this problem. I couldn't find any reference to
an IE > 6 dependency in the Report Generation Toolkit readme system requirement.

Hi Charlie,
The layout option is not wired to anything in the Standard, HTML, Excel and Word Report, but it is used in the Quick Print default case. The Help document for this VI mentions that the layout option is ignored on Standard and HTML Reports but does not mention the Excel or Word Reports.
This was discovered a little while ago in this discussion forum. And a report has be filed to R&D by Ben.
