Printing slides from Captivate

I am a new Captivate user and I can't find this info anywhere.
I use Captivate to build presentations, but the other SME's don't have Captivate to make edits. When we used Powerpoint for presentations, our standard practice was to convert the Powerpoint presentation to PDF and print the PDF for each SME to make notes on. My SME's would like to be able to print the Captivate presentation in order to make notes, the same way they used to print Powerpoint slides.
I also need to be able to use each Captivate slide for a handbook. I am hoping there is an easy way to do this, rather than taking screenshots of each slide....
I use Adobe Captivate, and I have Adobe Acrobat 9. My SME's only have Adobe Reader. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Can Slides from Captivate 4 be pasted into Captivate 3?

I had never used Captivate but I downloaded the Captivate 4 demo and was able to create a training (this software is sweet).  Anyhow, my company has Captivate 3 and I do not have this on my machine so instead of re-creating this training in Captivate 3, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if they are able to successfully copy slides from Captivate 4 to Captivate 3.  ( I have already read that Captivate is not backward compatible and noticed there is no option in Captivate 4 to save this as a Captivate 3 file).  Thanks for you help.

    Hi there
You should be able to have version 4 as well as 3 on the same PC. Then copy slides from 4 and paste into 3.
Of course, you cannot expect any features specific to 4 to work in 3.

  • Page Layout when Printing slides from Keynote

I don't often print my Keynote presentations, but I would like to be able to print FOUR slides on one sheet (landscape format) with one slide in each quadrant or corner. All I can select --as far as I can tell-- is a single column with all 4 slides minutely scaled down the page. The slides are far toooooooo small to read. CAN I CHANGE THE LAYOUT FOR PRINTING SO THAT HAVE 2 COLUMNS OF 2 SLIDES EACH? Many thanks for your suggestions!

When I do Print > Handouts > 4 slides per page, it puts the slides stacked on top of one another (ie 1 column of slides, 4 rows). I assume you would want to have 2 columns of slides and two rows. I don't know how to do this in Keynote, but if you are in Keynote, just do a File > Export > PDF. If you are printing in color, I'd select Image Quality > Best. Once you have the PDF of the presentation, open it with Preview. From Preview, do a File > Print. When the Print "window" comes up, you select your landscape orientation. At the bottom of the window, you will see a dropdown option that says "Images per page" and select 4. This should do the trick.
Be careful when you do the export from Keynote to PDF. There are a lot of options to include or exclude page numbers, builds, etc. in the PDF.
    Hope this helps.

  • Printing slides from keynote

How do you print 3,6, or 9 slides to a page from iPad Keynote to use as a handout?

If you want one full slide per page, print "Individual slides". For a nice layout of multiple slides without notes lines, choose "Individual Slides" and change the Layout/Pages per sheet to 6 (or whatever) per page. Then you don't waste any space on notes lines. It still will show in the preview that you are printing one slide/page but when I tried it, it printed 6 slides/page without being crammed into the corner of the page.

  • Import slide from captivates not responding

it maxes my cpu and memory and just sits there...not
    responding.

I've had better luck opening Captivate twice, opening both
files and copying and pasting from on to the other.

  • Published .avi from Captivate is shorter in Adobe Media Encoder

I published 8 slides from Captivate 4 to .avi video format.  When I play the .avi in Windows Media Player, it works great.  I'm using Adobe Media Encoder to convert it to .flv file to use in my Flash project.  When I import the .avi to AME, it's shorter and the audio on the last slide is cut off.  I tried inserting a duplicate slide with silent audio in Captivate to extend the duration by 10 seconds.  Still, the .avi is 2:57 in length and when I import it to AME it's 2:47.  It makes no difference if I extend the last silent slide to even 25 seconds.
Is this an issue with AME or with Captivate 4?  How do I fix it?
    Thank you!

Here's the info I can provide at this time:
Yes, it seems that this only affects .avi files published from Captivate.  Other .avi files reflect the correct length when imported to AME.
    Using AME CS4 4.2.0.006.
    Using Captivate CS4 4.0.0.1596.
Yes, it happens with every .avi file published from Captivate.  I've tried the following and still the last slide (#8) was cut off at the end including its audio:
extended last slide (#8) for more than a minute after the audio stops
extended the audio on the last slide (#8) by inserting silence for additional 30 seconds
added another slide (#9) after the last slide
added another slide (#9) after the last slide with 30 seconds of silent audio
I did find a temporary solution, however.  I added a transparent object (rectangle) a few seconds after the audio ended on slide 8 and when I published to .avi, Captivate recognized the added object and published the video to include the added animation.
You may download a zipped file containing the Captivate project and the published .avi from here:

    Thank you,

  • Converting Captivate 3 slides to Captivate 2

    Hi,
I created a module on Captivate 3, however my office colleagues have captivate 2. They are unable to open the slides in Captivate 2 to record voice. Is there a way to convert slides from captivate 3 to captivate 2. Please advice.
    Thanks

    Hi there
If you have a PC with both version 2 and 3 installed where you can run them side by side, you can copy slides from 3 and paste into 2.
Other than that, just have them create blank projects in 2 with slides timed identically to 3 and have them record the narration. Then you could export the Narrated clips and import them into the 3 project.

  • Print from captivate widget

    Hi All,
I have tryed to created the widget to print for entire captivate slides within a single shot. But i have failed to do that. So i have planned to make the entire slide as a separate screenshot then put it in the click event. While i have compile the flash movie it will working superb.
But if i placed the widget object in captivate then it will not work. For your reference i have placed the widget from http://mkarthic.site90.net/test/Widget.swf. Kindly help me what's wrong with me.
    Thanks
    Karthik

I have worked out that it is tied in with the resolution of the project which is 1024 x 768. If I change my screen resolution from 1920 x 1024 to match the projects resolution there is no print problem. However I don't want to put this restriction on my users. I would like them to sit the test at whatever resolution they need and then print the certificate when they are finished. Any ideas if there is a setting that I might be able to click or anything I can do to facilitate printing full screen without making my users adjust their screen settings.

  • Can we send pre-test score (Pre-test question slide) and post test score (Question slide) both in lms from captivate?

can we send pre-test score (Pre-test question slide) and post test score (Question slide) both in lms from captivate?

Pretest score normally is not sent to the LMS. However it is stored in a system variable, you could use JS to send it.

  • I want to edit the text within Captivate after importing slides from PowerPoint

    Hi,
Background: I import slides from a .pptx file. Once the slides are created inside of Captivate, I want to edit the text on the slide, but I can't; it's all become part of the background. So, I am left with two options: 1) open the .pptx file, edit the text, and then re-import the slide 2) Manually create everything on the slide inside of Captivate. This is so labor-intensive. I was hoping Captivate 7 would address this, but what seemed could possible address it - High Fidelity - isn't available for mac. I'm sure others have this problem too.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe you'd better look at Adobe Presenter if you need only to convert a PPT to an eLearning course?
Captivate is much more powerful, but its principal goal is not to convert PPT's. Each PPT-slide is converted into a movie slide so that all animations will be transferred properly. Personally I never create presentations in PPT but always directly in CP. You could import only the backgrounds, and create the other objects in CP. Images can be imported into the library, audio as well.

  • Your opinion on whether to insert a Captivate 5 swf or copy the slides from the swf's project?

I was wondering what peoples opinion is on inserting a Captivate swf or just copy and paste the slides from the project? If I insert a swf the project would be smaller, but sometimes its harder to control the swf (as in playing it inside of a project). If I copy and paste the slides, my project could have over 150 slides. I know that I can break down into small chunks, like one project per procedure, but..
I just would like some other people's opinion on this. I really appreciate any insight you may have ont. Thanks.

I've not had good luck putting Captivate-published SWF files into a new CP project file... As you say, playback can get crazy, slide completions not marked correctly, timings off...
If the SWF files I have are not interactive, I convert them to FLV/F4V and import them into the new CP project that way - much more reliable in my experience.
If they are interactive though, I just past the slides themselves.

  • Unable to export from Captivate 4 to Flash CS4

    Hello everyone!
I am attempting to export a captivate project over to flash CS4.  However when it goes from captivate over to flash the result is basically a slide show. It does not show any of the animations that are present in Captivate. I also keep recieving an error message.
I have searched for how to solve this problem for quite a while now and so far have come up with nothing.
This is the error message that flash gives me:
The following elements in your project have not been converted. They are not supported by this importer.
    508 Compliance
A swf animation slide has been imported. The following files must be made available at publish time:
    Project01_slide_22_0.swf
    DefaultPreloader.swf
Please make sure you publish the project to “C:\Documents and Settings\jmillard\Desktop.” Saving the project to this directory will ensure that test project will work with the swf animation slides.
Unfortunately I am on a tight schedule to get this project done and the Captivate 4 and Flash CS4 I am using are both 30 day trials, so I am in quite a hurry.
If you could please help me I'd greately appreciate it!

When you click on <Send Book to Blurb> a dialog should come up that asks for your ID and password for your Blurb account. I don't know if Blurb ships to Norway - you probably can find out at the Blurb website. But I don't think that this is the problem here since you also cannot export a PDF or JPGs.
I don't know of any specifics why this is not possible for you but it's worth trying to replace the Preference File.
This file can go "funny" and is then responsible for all kinds of strange behavior of Lr. The remedy is replacing the Preference File.
BTW: Re-installing Lr or updating / upgrading Lr does not replace the Preference File since it is designed to "survive" upgrades.

  • Adobe Connect 9 Training Course Video gets resized after being published from Captivate 6

    Hello!
I have an FLV that I have published to Adobe Connect 9 from Adobe Captivate 6.
I have set the size of the video to the dimensions that best display the FLV with player controls.
However, when I publish to Adobe Connect 9, the video is resized to a smaller size and looks heavily pixelated.
Is there a way to keep the dimensions and quality without Adobe Connect 9 resizing it?
Here are the settings in Captivate 6:
Here is the first screen for the preferences:
Here is the second screen in Preferences:
Here is what it looks like when viewed from Captivate 6 in a web browser:
Here is what it looks like after it has been published and uploaded into the training in Adobe Acrobat 9:
If you notice in the image above the video is smaller and the CMS logo is very pixelated due to Adobe Connect 9 resizing it.
I am not sure how to keep the dimensions that I have from Captivate 6 and have it reflect after it has been published to Adobe Connect 9.
And is there more functionality that I am not able to access since I am using a 30-Day trial.
Thanks for taking the time to read and assist!
    Angelo

You are correct that this is a known issue.  There was a fundamental change to the way objects are added to the timeline that came in with Cp6.  The result is that objects such as your SWF animations are only loaded at the time they are added to the timeline, and this causes the slide flickering you witness.  There's not really a lot you can do to get rid of it other than rebuilding all of your animations to be a single animation that once loaded will continue unabated until finished.

  • Is there a time limit for a slide in Captivate?

I have a 45 second slide but when I land on this slide from the previous slide, I still see the previous slide. The text boxes and highlight boxes appear fine but the previous slide is displayed in the background.

There is no real time limit. Can you check if you have perhaps some objects timed for the rest of the project in that previous slide? And please, try to mention the version (exact number) of Captivate you are using. It helps to give a correct answer.

Have you tried restarting the printer? Reboot the iPad as well.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
