Printing to a photo printer connected to Windows?

Hi everyone,
Just got a new digital camera for Christmas and here's the problem. We have a Kodak digital camera and the Kodak EasyShare printer dock 6000 to go with it. It's connected to a Windows XP computer. My new camera is a Casio Exilim S500, so obviously, it doesn't go on the Kodak dock... but on the Windows computer you can print anything to the dock directly from the computer, but when I try to print to it from my Mac it won't go through. I've played around with some settings.. tried to tell it that it's printing on 4x6 paper and what not. (I'm using iPhoto by the way). It comes up in the printer que, but then never prints. It also says the file is like 30-something MBs when really its 1.5MBs. Can anyone tell me a correct way to make this work?? I print from my Mac to an HP Photosmart 1115 printer (connected to that same Windows computer) all the time- no problems.
Any of that make sence?
lol, thanks everyone.

Short and simple: get a different printer. Unfortunately, Dell does not make a driver compatible with OS X for ANY of their printers. AFAIK, there are no generic drivers as well that would be able to do this for a Dell printer either. Sorry for the luck here, but a possible solution would be to copy the files you want printed from the mac to the windoze computer then print it from there. You could even use [MS Remote Desktop for Mac|http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.mspx?pid=Mactopia_RDC&fid=803F9438-8 DF3-490F-92C6-0E0F92787DB8#viewer] for a GUI interface between the two.

  • Photosmart C4750 printer chops off photo prints on leading edge no matter what size, paper setting,

My Photosmart C4750 printer chops off the photo prints when using photo paper no matter what settings I use.  I don't have any trouble when using regular paper.  I have a Touchsmart 300 PC using windows 7 and I use either PMB from Sony for my photo editing or Corel Paint Shop.  The problem seems to be in the printer.  It starts printing the picture off the paper.  Can you help me?

I called their tech support and they informed me that the printer was out of warranty so they could not give advice unless I payed the one time fee or bought a 1 year plan.  First, the guy's India accent was so strong that I couldn't understand him.  Next, the prices they wanted were almost the price of a new printer.  So, I declined and wrote my post on the forum, but got no responses.  Yours is the first.  Then HP sent a survey.  I gave all bad scores.
In March I got an e-mail saying I had a one year warranty and would I like to extend it.  I called the number and got another India accented lady this time.  In the background a little kid's voice was saying "Mom, Mom".  This was not going to go well, I knew from the start.  So I explained my problem over again.  She told me to hold  a minute then came back and said my printer was out of warranty.  I read off the e-mail and she said that meant my printer had been out of warranty a year and was asking if I wanted to extend.  I asked the cost and again it was the price of the printer so I said NO.  She asked if I wanted help to solve my problem.  I asked if she was going to charge for it and she said Yes.  I told her I would just buy a different printer and hung  up.  HP sent another survey and I gave all bad scores again and wrote the comment that I will never buy another HP printer.  I heard Epson Printers are very good for photo work.  I will give them a try.

  • Using C4795 printer for 4X6 photo printing. Prints not registered, can start randomly on page, skip

C4795, printing 4X6 photos with new iMAC and iPhoto software.  Downloaded latest drivers.  Printing starts randomly on page,
sometimes skipping half a page, sometimes just a sliver.  Prints are OK with my other 8150 printer, but not 4795.  Any ideas?
    Thanks, John

    Hi John.
Perhaps it's a printer configuration problem (maybe the paper size is set to a different value than what's in the printer), but you may want to try printing with HP Photo Creations as a test. The program is a free download from www.hp.com/go/hppc, and can load photos from your iPhoto library.
Here's a quick tutorial on printing 4x6 photos with HP Photo Creations:

  • Printing with HP Photo Printer

I have an HPC6180 photo printer. Since I upgrade iPhoto '08 I can't print from the 4x6 photo tray.
How can I reinstall iPhoto without losing my photo library?

Yes. The photos, i.e. library, are totally separate from the application. Can you print to the 4x6 tray from any other application like Preview? If so then try logging into another account on your Mac and see if you can print from there to the 4x6 tray. If iPhoto won't print to the 4x6 tray there then a reinstall of iPhoto would be the next step. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

It looks like you have to have a postscript printer (i.e. a laser printer). I have been trying to solve this problem for some time with no luck so far.

  • Help cant get MAcbook to print to a Canon MP500 connected to Windows 7 lap

Have spend nearly all day trying to work this out but nothing i do works. The printer is connected to a Windows 7 Home premium Samsung r780 and I can share files between the computers fine but the mac will not connect to the printer. I have tried to use the LPD protocol which I have activated in windows. Very frustrated as i can get the old XP laptop to printer fine.

For the LPD protocol, you need to enter the Windows 7 share name for the LPD queue name on the Mac. I also suggest that you don't use any spaces for the share name. Just have MP500. So you may need to change this first on Win7 before trying to add the printer queue again.
The other thing to note is that for many Canon inkjets, you cannot use the Canon driver when the printer is being shared from Windows. For these types of connections, you need to use a CUPS-based driver, such as Gutenprint or PrintFab. Since Gutenprint is free, it is the preferred option. You may already have the Gutenprint drivers on your Mac as they are part of the SL install. So for the Print Using menu, you need to select 'Canon PIXMA MP500'.

We are using HP Offiejet Pro 8000 A809 on our network, and they are installed on a Windows 2008 Server.
But when we are sending a print command it prints only garbage. We've tried different print drivers but without success.
Anyone experience the same problem and have a solution?
    Thanks

temporary solution from HP is to use the standard HP Deskjet 990c driver.
it works but i hope they make a proper driver.

  • How does iPad store photos when connected to Windows?

I've recently upgraded to iPad2. A friend is interested in buying my original iPad 32gb because she loves iPhoto and would like to move her current 10 gb photo library into it. Uploading new photos from her camera to the iPad is easy with the card reader.  But how could she handle backup of photo files going forward since she works in the Windows world and her primary OS is Windows 7?
I know that when I upload pictures to the iPad in the field and then connect the iPad to my computer at home the Image Capture program asks me if I want to import the photos and where to put them.  Does a similar event take place when using Windows?

Yes - the windows camera wizard should open : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . Or they can be manually copied from the iPad as it will appear as a 'camera' in windows explorer (in a similar way to how a memory card in a card reader would).

  • HP Photo Printing Software - How to change predefined sizes in "Design To Page size:" window?

I have a HP Photosmart printer, which came with a photo print application, "HP Photo Printing Software", Version 3.9.0.0.  When I try to change the page size of the photo output using the "Design to Page Size:" screen, I see a list of predefined page sizes (e.g., "4x6 w/tab").  However, these predefined sizes (there are 11) can't be changed from within the program.  For example, if I want to print a 4x6 photo with no border, which is a frequent requirement, there seems to be no way to do it.
How do I change or override these predefined print sizes in this program?  BTW - I have Windows XP on my PC.

    Hi Alex.
You may want to try HP's new photo-printing program, HP Photo Creations. It's a free download at www.hp.com/go/hppc.
To print photos at a predefined size, select the Print-at-Home tab (2), then Prints & Posters (3), then the Prints project (4). Then design your print and select your desired size on the printing screen (7).

  • Photo printing slow one line at a time

My first time printing phots on my Officejet 4620 and it is taking 20 minutes per picture one line at a time. Very frustrated. Call the help line and was told tht how this printer works.....

Many things can affect printing photos. Wireless connectivity (if applicable), paper size, print quality, software used to print the photo, printer design optimization (photo printer vs. office printer), security software used on your computer,  etc.....
That being said, this photo printing document may offer some information of benefit:

  • HP Software - photo printing

I used to have a HP Inkjet 932C and All-In-One 2170 and the HP software that came with it allowed you to print multiple size photo prints on a 8.5"x 11".    For example, I want to print out three (3) 5"x7" photo prints on an 8.5"x11", or ten (10) wallets on an 8.5"x11".    The software would allow me to configure several layouts on 1 sheet.
I now have a HP B210A Photosmart, and I tried to do this the other day, but did not see how I could do this.    Is there any HP software on the website or disk that I may have overlooked that allows you to do this?    I can only print out a single photo on a sheet of paper.   Thanks

  • Photo printing colour matching to older hp printer

I have a D7160 hp printer and have just acquired a C309a printer.  The photos printed on the c309a have less vibrancy of colour and when printing mountain scenes have a distinct green cast.  Compared to the same image printed on the D7160 the images look under exposed.  Most of the photos I take are used as colour references when painting in oils - this is very disappointing as I know the photo in no way represents the image taken.  Is there a way to colour correct or do I need a different ?  Also, the software with this printer - "simple home print" function in no way compares to the photsmat premium 6.1 that came with the D7160.  I am not a professional photographer but I have taken many courses. I need a "truer" colour match than I have been able to achieve.  This printer and software don't appear to be sophisticated enough for my needs unless there is a way to correct these problems.

I'm sorry I can't help you, because I have a similar problem printing to an HP AIO 7410 from Corel Paint Shop Pro, or even Roxio Photo Suite.  The colors on the screen do not match the colors on the prints.  If I spend several hours per print, I'll eventuall get there, at a great cost in paper and ink.
How does one calibrate a monitor?  How does an amateur calibrate a 7400 series printer?
Same problem, I think, as yours, but different hardware and software.
Maybe HP will start collecting complaints such as these and issue a simple step-by-step paper to help us out.

  • Need help connecting a windows network printer to my Mac (Xerox Phaser 3600) over a windows home network

Need help connecting a windows network printer to my Mac (Xerox Phaser 3600) over a windows home network.
My Mac runs lion and the windows desktop runs Windows XP
I have tried for a few hours or so to connect my mac to this printer over a home network.
For your information it does work when connected directly to my mac using a USB Cable.
If there is no soultion could I have help getting the drivers for a Dell All-in-One Photo 926

In most cases you can connect to the Windows shared printer from the Mac. But there is a dependence on the Mac driver being compatible. For many consumer inkjets, the vendor created driver cannot be used for this type of connection so you need to look at alternative drivers, such as Gutenprint or PrintFab. If you can tell us which brand and model of printer you have shared from Windows then we can answer your question with the preferred procedure on the Mac.

  • Is there going to be a Windows 8 (64 bit) driver for Sony DPP-EX5 Photo printer?

I have the DPP-EX5 Photo Printer and love it.  Currently connected to my Windows XP machine. I just bought a Windows 8 64 bit computer, but the site
http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=DPPEX5&LOC=3#/downloadTab does not show a Windows 8 driver.  Will the Windows 7 64 bit driver work with Windows 8 64 bit?

Well, since no one replied, I went ahead and downloaded the Windows XP driver for DPP-EX5 printer and installed it onto my Windows 8 64 bit machine, and presto, it worked.  I'm a happy camper.

  • HP Deskjet 3550 cannot print using Airport Extreme via USB connection on Windows 7 64 bits

Product Name and Number: HP Deskjet 3550 Inkjet Printer
Operating System installed: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits
    Error message: None
Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred: Setting up HP printer using Airport Utility to add a new printer and installed Bonjour Print Wizard.
Problem: My printer is already set up using Airport Utility. When I print something, the printer doesn't do anything. Is there something I haven't done lately in order to get this printer working using my wifi router?
Suggestion #1: Are the print jobs getting stuck in the print queue? You can check this by clicking on the printer icon in your task tray by the clock.
Error Message #1: Yes, the print job got stuck in the print queue, but the moment, it disappeared from the print queue and the printer doesn't print at all. This is frustrating.
Suggestion #2: Does the printer work as expected if you connect it directly to the PC via USB?
Error Message #2: Yes, the printer works if I connect it directly to my PC via USB, but I don't understand why it wouldn't work with the wifi router, though.
Suggestion #3: This has to do with the way the router handles the connection to the printer. I found another thread, regarding this issue, and it has some information that may help resolve it.
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/Print-Problem-Using -USB-Printer-on-Airp...
If that does not help, I would recommend posting on the Apple forums, as they may have more expertise with the router's abilities:
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/wireless/airport
Error Message #3: After clicking on the first link that you posted, it was very helpful, but the printer couldn't print completely and somehow it would stop at the quarter of a paper. It looks incomplete when I took it out from my printer. It does that every time.

    UPDATE!
Problem solved!  So this is just a followup in case someone else ever stumbles into these boards with the same or similar problems as mine, that is, trying to run an HP Deskjet D1500 series printer [mine's a D1520] on an Airport Extreme wifi router's USB port as a network printer [with the Airport Extreme controlled by an ancient G4 PowerMac Quicksilver currently running OS X 10.4.11).
Although it probably SHOULDN'T matter, since this type of printer works fine with just the Tricolor cartridge as shipped when hooked up directly to a computer's USB port, on a hunch I got a black HP cartridge (that's a type 21, not type 22 as I had earlier said), slapped it in, tried a test page, and all's well.  So, we can call off the technoid hounds.  Everything running perfectly.
I hope this message in a bottle may help someone else out there some day soon who may be scratching his or her head with a similar stumper.  And just to recap those important Windows printer settings, they are:
    * [Printer Properties--> Ports--> Add New Port...] "Standard TCP/IP Port"
    * [Configure Port] IP Address "10.0.1.1" and Port "9100"
    Best of luck!
