PRINTING TO PDF IN WINDOWS 8

I am having trouble printing to a pdf in windows 8.  I am doing this from Yahoo Mail and for some reason the PDF printer is giving me fits.  Please advise.

What version of Acrobat are you using. I had no problem with AA XI when I was testing Win8 with AA.

Adobe Reader cannot change the security on a PDF file. You need Acrobat on the desktop, and of course you'll need legal permission and the original password.

  • Cant "print to pdf" in Windows 8.1 using Outlook, Quickbooks, Word?

I can't "print to pdf" in any of the applications I listed. Seems to have happened after the last Windows update. It also screwed up my ability to connect with a second monitor, but that's a separate problem that has no fix. Anyone have any ideas? I fixed the Acrobat install through Adobe but no luck yet

Ar both in 64 bit installed? I experienced once problems one in 32bit, the other in 64bit.
Or if the Office was installed before the Acrobat it could also be a problem.

  • Print multiple PDFs from Windows Explorer causes Acrobat Pro 9.4 crash

I sometimes need to create a batch of PDFs independently, after which it suits me to print them all as a single job. FYI I am running Acrobat Pro 9.4 under Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
The sequence of the problem as follows:
    - With Acrobat closed, I go to the directory containing my multiple PDF files using Windows Explorer.
    - I highlight between three and six PDF docs (each individual doc is small, one page, black and white only).
    - I use the "Print" option made available within Windows Explorer.
It's clear that the system then tries to use Acrobat to print these docs, however I consistently get the same behaviour - some print, some do not, but on every occasion I receive the error "Adobe Acrobat 9.4 has stopped working".
Any ideas? Annoying for a paid-for piece of pro software although, granted, not on a level with famine in the third world it would be nice to have all the functionalities working correctly. If it helps my machine spec is below.
    Thanks,
    Alastair
    SPEC:
    Dual Xeon workstation
24Gb RAM (of which 22GB available at time of error)
    Disk 1TB (RAID10) of which 920GB free
    Windows 9 Ultimate 64bit
    Acrobat Pro ver 9.4.1

It may partly be a 64-bit issue since AA is apparently a 32-bit application that can run in the 64-bit environment (not that familiar with 64-bit systems, so I may not be stating it correctly. However, I would start by going to the Control Panel>Programs and Features and do a repair on your Acrobat installation. That will hopefully resolve the issue.

  • Is it possible to retain 100% k when printing to PDF

I print to pdf with photoshop, illustrator and indesign. i do this to reduce file sizes, mostly to send a proof to a client. however, i also use the pdfs in indesign when preparing large documents that first go to a printer then to go online. depending on the technology the printer is using, i can get away with 'print to pdf' pdfs and their press does not print the black in four color process, but other printers with older technology requests all blacks to be 100% k. It's not a big deal, as i can 'export' to 'smallest file size' with similar outcomes of size for posting online, i was just curious....

Thank you Mike, I do not work at a printer so am unfamilar with their programs and technology.
per your notes above: i do export to pdf, i do output Color Conversion set to 'Convert to Destination (Preserve Numbers),
i do: Destination 'US Web Coated (SWOP) v2 and Don't Include Profiles. Using these settings the pdf will have 100k blacks as 100K in the pdf and the images should have the same values as read in Photoshop.
i do: have .joboptions provided by some printers
and i always check my pdfs in Acrobat<output preview.
however, since posting and per your post, i have figure out....
if i had created an .ai (advertisement to place in indesign) document using some 100% k elements....
if i print to pdf in Illustrator: in the 'print' dialog box file<print<setup (with printer: Adobe pdf selected), (window pops up with: 'Continue' or 'Return to Print Dialog') select Continue<Preferences: under default setting choose: PDF/A-1b CMYK, then hit 'OK', then hit 'Print', then you will be back at the original print dialog box, from there go to the 'advanced tab' and choose<overprints<preserve (to eliminate knock-out, which i need to send to a printer.) However, after all that, the ad is still a couple or several megabytes, unlike the regular 'print to pdf' document that will be a couple hundred k or less. It sometimes can be better than orginal .ai placed docs, if they run 10, 20 or more megabytes....

  • Cannot print a PDF file after upgrading to Windows 8.1

Cannot print a PDF file after upgrading to Windows 8.1
I can print anything else from either the Desktop or Start but not a PDF.  No error message but just does not print.
Update: down loaded Adobe Reader which runs on the desktop so when I read a PDF file it now runs on the desktop and I can print it.

  • Silent print a PDF from a web page using Flex. We are targeting Windows and Mac with Arcobat reader installed

We are planning to Silent print a PDF from a web page using Flex. We are targeting Windows and Mac with Arcobat reader installed. I have tried using the AIR appliaction and it worked, But our requirement is NO INSTALL to the user machine for the silent printing. It is just from web page and silent printing to the default printer to the desktop/Laptop. Can anyone share your thoughts and experience with us. It will be very helpful..
For AIR : I tried the thread Re: AIR and PDF showing/silent printing

    Hey CodeMonkey & Ross,
Did you either of you ever find a solution? I'm stuck too, it seems I can get remote printing on all these PDFs to work but it just prints a blank page since I've been using Javascript in the browser, not Adobe's (they are Engineering drawings that I do not have permission to edit so I can't just insert code into them but I need to make work instructions). I've been scouring the internet for hours now, it seems that this thread is the only relevant/useful one at this point. No one else was trying to achieve this for similar reasons to mine.
    Thanks guys,
    Lox

  • PDF Reader not printing after upgrading to Windows 8.1

After installing the Windows 8.1 update, the PDF Reader doesn't print. Documents don't even show up in the queue.  I'm able to print from desktop apps (i.e., Photoshop, Word, etc.) just fine so it appears to be strictly a Reader issue.
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    Richard

    Hi,
Please locate to Windows Charm menu, click Settings, change PC settings, and find Devices option, then remove all printers in Devices.
Following this, please try printing through PDF Reader.
    Hope this helps!

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/

  • How can I print a pdf file in Windows 8?

I'm new to Windows 8. How can I print a pdf file in Windows 8?

Well, you can install Adobe Reader XI - not the version for Windows 8 tablets, but the one for regular PCs. This is just the same in Windows 8 as other systems, and can print. The tablet reader, which also runs on PCs, can't print.
