Printing wirelessly on officejet pro 8600 plus

I have recently purchased an e printer (Officejet pro 8600 plus).  I have set it up on my laptop as well as mobile phone.  I have printed photos from my phone, emails from my phone, emails from my laptop, word documents and excel documents from my laptop.  It will only print sometimes.  I think it may have to do with the printer going to sleep.  On my mobile phone, I get a message saying ePrint job delayed  because the printer is turned OFF or not connected to Internet.  Well, it is on.  When I actually go to the room where the printer is located, if I touch the screen and press Apps, sometimes, the printer says "connection error", unable to connect to the server.  Other times when I have done this, it does make the connection.  It seems that if I wake up the printer, I can eventually get something to print.  But that defeats my purpose of the wireless capability.  Can you help?

I will need some more information in order to help out. What make and model of router do you have?  Does it ever  fail regular wireless jobs sent from the computer to the printer? Or is it just ePrint jobs that it fails/delays? Also what is the IP address for the printer?

AirPrint is an iOS 5 protocol.  It is not used on the Mac or Lion.  What you *can* do is add the wireless printer to you network and print from the mac using that.

  • Printing photos from cell phone on a wireless HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

My wife sends photos to the printer from her cell phone, but not jst the photo gets printed, but also a lot of area outside of the photo gets printed in black ink - very wasteful.  How do you set up the printer or the phone so that only pictures get printed and not a lot of non-photo outside space?

Another option that you can try is using the Hp ePrint app for iPhone or the Hp Home and biz app for android devices. This may eliminate your problem.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Problem printing wirelessly with OfficeJet Pro 8600 on a Macbook Pro running OS 10.7.4

I just bought this printer. Setup when perfect, my Mac sees it and when I print, it starts fine, until... it looses contact.
I re-installed everything twice, and I even got the latest installer from HP's web site.
ePrint works fine, so I know docs make their way to the printer.
The router is a Linksys Wireless-N Broadband Router, model WRT160Nv2, with firmware v2.0.02
    Please help!!!
I even make a clip showing the problem.... http://youtu.be/Qlep8ZK8Dv0

Verify the router is on the latest firmware.  If not, upgrade it.
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 1...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
You should use WPA2-AES and reset your TV and all your other wireless devices as it will ask for a new password/paraphrase.
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus won't print or scan wirelessly using Mac OS 10.

    Mac OS 10.9
    Wireless
My printer was working fine until today.  Then when I used the control panel to scan a page I went through the steps and got to scanning and got the message I needed to enable "Scan to Computer" in the HP Utility.  I went there and it was unchecked.  Seems I had this problem every time I did a new scan job in the past.  It wouldn't retain than check.  So I checked it and after awhile I got the message "Communication Error" and to check my connections and if that didn't work restart my computer and printer.  I did that and also restarted the router but it didn't help.
Then I tried printing from Word, which has always worked but it didn't this time.  The printer icon on the right of the dock came up, bounced a few times then disappeared with nothing happening on the printer.
So I deleted and reinstalled the printer.  No help.  I downloaded and installed HP software and firmware updates.  No help.  I went through wireless setup.  No help
BTW, all along I got good "Wireless Network Test" results.  I says it's connected but nothing happens when I try any functions of the printer.
If I can find a USB cable I will try to see if wired works.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hey @neoflyer,
I would like to assist you today with resolving the wireless printing and scanning issues you're experiencing on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer on your Mac OS X 10.9 Operating System. You mentioned that you have powercycled the devices, reran the wireless setup, and uninstalled and reinstalled the software and drivers to no avail. I'm going to suggest a few additional troubleshooting steps to verify if this is a computer issue or a network issue.
Step 1: Gather the IP and Open the EWS:
    1. On the screen of your printer select the wireless button:
    2. Under the Wireless information you should see your IP address
    3. Open up your internet browser on your Mac computer and in the website address bar just type in your IP address. Please do not include www.
    4. After you enter your IP address in the website bar go to that website
    5. If the website for your printer opens than that proves with 100% certainty that your printer and computer are 'talking' to each other on your wireless network. If the website fails to open than you have a network communication issue with your router.
If the website fails to open please powercycle your network again:
How to Properly Powercycle a Network:
First, unplug the power cable to your Router
Once your Router is unplugged, turn off your printer
    Next, shut down your computer
After 30 seconds to 1 minutes, plug your Router back in
    Next, turn on your printer
    Turn on the computer
After a few moments check on your computer and ensure that the internet is working. Once it is, hit the wireless button again on the printer to see if your printer got a new IP address. Using the IP address enter it in the address bar of your internet browser and now see if the website for the printer opens.
If the website for the printer opens successfully please follow the steps below:
Step 1: Uninstall Drivers and Software:
From the computer desktop, double-click the Macintosh HD, and then click Applications.
    Click the Hewlett-Packard folder.
Double-click the HP Uninstaller, and then click Continue.
Select the product to uninstall, and then click Uninstall.
When prompted, type the Administrator name and Password, and then click OK.
From the Macintosh HD menu, click Users.
    Click the correct user name.
    Click Library.
    Click Preferences.
Click and hold the cursor on the first file that starts with "HP," and then drag the file to the Trash icon on the taskbar. Complete this step for each file that starts with "HP."
    Close out of Preferences.
Click the Trash icon on the taskbar, click the Empty button, and then click OK to empty the trash.
Step 2: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    Go to the Utilities Folder
    Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
    Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 3: Check for Apple Updates:
    Go to Apple
    Select System Preferences
    Select Software Update
    Click Update Now
    Install your available updates
    Restart your computer
Step 4: Reinstall your Software and Drivers:
    1. Please click the following link to download the appropriate Mac OS X 10.9 drivers for your printer: Mac: HP Officejet Pro 8600 series Full Feature Software and Drivers
    2. Once downloaded, run through the step by step screens to reinstall your network printer
    3. Once the printer is reinstalled, attempt a print and a scan!
Please let me know if these steps resolved your issue. Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums. Good luck!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus no longer printing wirelessly

My HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus has printed wireless for both my MacBook Pro and iPad for over a year.  As of this morning, it no longer will.  The Wireless Network Test Results notice says "your hp printer is unable to connect to your wireless router.  MAC address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router which can prevent your HP printer from connecting to your wireless network during setup.  Solution:  if MAC address filtering is enabled and you would like to keep it enabled, you must add the MAC address of your printer (available in this Test Report) to the list of permitted devices for your wireless router before continuing"
My "router" is an Apple Time Capsule.   All this is "greek" to me.  I have been trying to resolve this for 5 hours now and have made no headway as I really do not know what I'm doing.  Do you have any tips (step by step) as to how to get this working again?
    Thanks so much!

  • My HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer will not recognize my wireless router passwrd

My printer was working fine but when I turned it on today it wouldn't connect to my wireless router. I try inputing the correct password and the printer gives me this message......"the WPA security passphrase configured on your HP printer does not match your wireless router setting" .
I have entered the password several times and I know what I have entered is correct

    Hi @Southglen,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer will not recognize your wireless router password. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to help!
I would recommend to go through this guide, How to Find the WEP or WPA Key or Password for Your Wireless Network, just to double-check your wireless password, in case it might have changed.
I would also suggest a hard reset, by going to this post How to perform a Hard Reset, by @Rich1.
After those two steps, I would suggest a firmware update, Getting Printer Updates for HP Officejet Pro 8600 (N911), Officejet 6600 (H711) and Officejet 6700 P....
Let's start with these steps, and we will go from there!

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus will print wirelessly but not scan

I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus all in one printer/copier/scanner. It's worked fine for the several months I have had it. But now suddently the computer does not recognize the scanner. I am connected to the device wirelessly and can print but not scan. I haven't been able to figure out why the comptuer recognizes the printer but not the scanner. I uninstalled and reinstalled the device but still no success.
Any ideas how I can get the computer to recognize the scanner? I am running Windows 8. Have not updated to 8.1.

Hello Sarah1234, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scanning issues.  I would like to help.
I would recommend powering off your printer and computer.  Once they are both down, I would recommend unplugging the power from your wireless router for 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in.  Once it has begun broadcasting again, power on your printer and computer.
I would also recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Once you have launched the tool, select the 'fix scanning' option.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus wireless printing dilemma

    Hello,
I recently purchased the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus for my dorm room in college. However, the school requires all devices that want to use its wi-fi to register their IP addresses through detection software in addition to the default log-in information just to use the wi-fi. Now, here are the items I currently have:
    - the printer itself
    - the printer USB cable
    - a few ethernet cables
    - a personal router
    - an ASUS wireless dongle (plugs into PCs via USB, has ethernet port but the device itself can create a hotspot and its own "network")
    - one of the built-in school routers (high up on the wall)
The question is, is there a way I can set up any type of wireless printing in my dorm room? Is it possible to buy two wireless USB attachments that hook up wirelessly to my printer and computer, acting like bluetooth? Thank you!

Range extender improves the signal strength and cover a bigger area, but adds an extra layer of communication so will have slower response. It helps connecting devices far apart, but may cause delay and "loss" of communication, especially "two way" communication which is the problem you are experiencing.

  • WiFi Wireless Setup Wizard produces Blue Screen of Death on Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

The wireless setup wizard on my Officejet Pro 8600 Plus is failing immediately after "scanning for networks". I get a blue screen of death with error message B8494B00, followed by "turn printer on and off" with flashing screen.
I bought the printer about one month ago and it has worked perfectly so far. My Apple Time Capsule failed yesterday, so I bought a new one (latest model) and had to set up the wireless network again. When I tried to do so on the printer, I got the error for the first time. Nothing else had changed. Other devices are working with no problems on the new network. The computer is an Apple iMac running OS Mountain Lion.
I have tried turning the printer on and off, disconnecting the power and reconnecting, then turning it on again, but no result. I have restored the wireless to factory settings, but no difference.
    Please help.

Right off I have to tell you I do not "speak Mac".
I assume the "Apple Time Capsule" is a name for a network router?  A syncing device?
    Unless I am mistaken:
You do not need the Wizard to set up the network -- it is pretty software for an HP PC; when it works, it can make things easier.  The setup Wizard is not necessary for the process.  I should think this is true for the Mac.
    =====================================================================================
If you cannot get someone from the Printing group to answer your specific concern,
you may have succes with the following:
The User Guide has pretty good detail on how to set up the networking necessary to get the printer connected to either a PC or Mac environment.  Assuming you can get the printer to "Reset network settings" (User Guide, page 222), then you can re-enter the information you require manually.  It is a bit tedious, but is may work better than fighting the Wizard.
    OfficeJet Pro 8600 User Guide
You may be able to circumvent sone or all of this by reinstalling the Full Feature Software for your printer -- that assumes you are first able to "reset network settings", at least, and get a printout test page to verify that the reset actually worked.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus will not print from my MacAir

I have used my MacAir to print on my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus for about 5 months without any problems.  All of a sudden my printer will not print.  The wireless icon says it's connected to the network.  But when I click print it says "looking for air printer" and then "printer not connected".  I've repeated the Wizard Set Up for the wireless connection.  I've turned the printer and computer on and off.  I've even tried printing from my iPhone but it will not find the printer anymore.  Please help!

    Hello @ladybonds ,
Thank you for taking the time to post on the HP Forums today! Hope you enjoy the experience.
You are saying that you have been printing fine from your computer for 5 months and now your printer says it is connected to the network and your computer says that it isn't.
Have you recently upgraded to Yosemite the new Apple OS? If not what OS X are you using?
Are you sure that the printer and your devices are on the same network?
Does the router give your printer an I.P address?
Let me know these answers and we can go from there.

  • Hp officejet pro 8600 plus - connected to the wireless but AirPrint not working

i have an hp officejet pro 8600 plus.  had it for 6 months or so.  intial setup went fine...connected to the wireless network with no problems...airprint worked instantly from all of my apple devices.  recently, in the last 3 weeks, airprint has stopped working. when i turn the printer off and turn it back on, airprint will work for about 5 minutes.  but then it stops working.  it is like the printer is losing wireless connectivity, but the wirless diagnostics show it to be connected fine.
i have an apple airport exptreme router.  it is showing to be connected just fine to the network and i can see the printer's mac address as a wireless client in the Airport Utility.
    any ideas?

    Hi henryje,
Sorry to hear you are experiencing these issues. I would be glad to help.
Try changing the channel on the AirPort Extreme router to channel 11 or any channel that seem less congested.
You can check you network channel environment by printing a Network Configuration page from the Wireless Settings menu on printer front panel. The second page of the printout will display all detected networks by the printer listed by signal strength. You can also use InSSIDer: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5936-inssider.html
Printers also do not support the 5GHz band, so if your network uses 5GHz only, you can disable this in the AirPort Extreme router config page.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus - no wireless connection

    Hi,
I am now onto my second HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. The previous one froze entirely. This one switches on ok, but is unable to connect to my wireless router (even when it is inches away from the router). The blue wireless indicator is constantly flashing, and when I try to set up the wireless connection is just says "searching" and the screen never changes. I have tried restoring factory defaults and restoring network defaults.
Does anyone have a solution please?
    Glynn

You are not connecting to your wireless router if the blue (wireless) light is flashing.   Move the printer to 3 feet away from the router.  Set the router to a fixed wireless channel like 1, 6 or 11 never 'auto' try all three.  Use 20 Mhz only or 145Mbps depending on the router.  Power cycle both.  Connect to your SSID using WPA2-AES encryption with your password.  Have to connect to the router successfully first.

  • Printing from Motorola Xoon tablet to Officejet Pro 8600 Plus via Android ePrint app

    Hello!
My Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer
    - is connected to my Laptop (Win7 64bit) via USB cable
    - is connected to my router via WLAN
    - is configured to use ePrint with a registered mail address
    My Motorola Xoom tablet3
    - has Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4 installed as operating system
    - has the HP ePrint Home&Biz app installed
    ePrint
    - ePrint app is configured
    - the app identified/shows my printer as it should
    - I successfully registered to ePrint on the HP website
    - I am using a registered mail address for connection between app and ePrint online
As soon as I select a document on my tablet and try to print it,
    - the app shows up a "rendering document" message for a short time
    - a preview of the document should show up, but it doesn't!!
    - I can see the selected document as "pending" print job
    - no documents will be printed
    - pending documents can't be deleted and remain in the tablet's display
So, I desparately need help! Why does my printer not receive or print the documents from the Xoom tablet?
Thanks a lot for your help!

I understand that It was not a problem with the connection. When dealing with wireless networks, it is always a good idea to set a static IP.  It makes things more stable.  The reason I told you to enter Google's DNS was not to connect you to Google.  All a DNS does is create a pathway to the internet.  Once any device finds the internet via the DNS it then goes where it is supposed to.  It just uses the DNS as a referance for the internet.  Web services should work fine with your router DNS, I have just had more success using Google's public DNS.
You never mentioned wether you did all the power cycling that I asked you too.  I know it does not make sense, but power cycling everything on the network so it can all reconnect fresh, solves most issues like this one.  However, if you have power cycled everything and you are still having issues, then try removing the Xoom and the printer from the network, and reconnecting them.  Sometime, you have to completely remove the printer and mobile device from the networks and reattach them before they will comunicate.
If none of that works,  you may need to call the cloud services department to have them take a look at the issue.  You can find the number by logging into your ePrintCenter.com acount and looking under the help section.  When you get an agent on the phone make sure to tell them everything you have done, so they do not have you do the same steps.  Honestly at this point if it is not working the next step is a semi-full reset, which will cause you to loose your ePrint email address, as well as reset everything back to factory settings on the printer.  I am not allowed to share how to semi-full the printer via the forums, however the phone agents can walk you through one.
