Printing with Bleed and Crop marks from a PDF made with PS

So, i have created a business card with a .125in bleed all around in photoshop. I know that you can go to File->print->output in photoshop and specify crop marks and the amound of bleed...however, i have saved my business card as a PDF from photoshop. I want to print from the PDF version as i have the plug-in quite imposing 2 for acrobat and use step and repeat to print multiples on 11x17 paper. How do i add the crop marks in the right place from Acrobat on the business card?

Do you have Quite Imposing Plus 2 or just Quite Imposing 2?
cheers,
Charles

  • How can I make a print-ready book-file in lightroom 4, with bleeds and crop marks?

I am wondering if its possible to make a file that includes bleed and crop marks from lightroom 4?  I have made a book, but it lacks these features, which makes the printers unable to print my book. Do I have to use indesign instead?

  • Bleed and crop marks in Pages '09

Need to export pages document as PDF with bleed and crop marks, HOW do I do that?
The printer needs to have bleed in the document to be able to crop.

    Hi Daniel,
    Welcome to the forum.
Pages does not have bleeds, crop marks nor slugs.
You will need to increase the page size all round by 3/8" or 10mm and add them as 100% cmyk rules to the corners.
Best done in Word Processing mode with the crops as master objects so they appear on every page.
Crude, primitive and harking back to what I had to do back in the 80's and early 90's, but Pages seems to be in a time warp.

You plan to use Photoshop to lay out an entire magazine? I'll say a prayer for you.

  • Bleed and crop lines

    Hi all,
Just wanted to know if/how one can set the bleed and crop marks in pages.
I'm using the trial and would like these features to print artwork that bleeds off the page.
    Thanks,
    naj

    hi frank,
thanks for the tip, its a shame however that such a well designed piece of software lacks such a simple feature.
I sure hope apple implements it in the future.
You see what I need this for is that I'm working on a comic book. I'd like to be able to produce a PDF that would be suitable to be used by a printer/pod printer. So crop marks and bleed are quite important.
Your suggestion is a very nice and simple workaround that I will probably end up using. I'll have to get all the details on whats needed by the printer tho - I'm a newbie to this whole industry you see, more of a hobby really.
have you any other suggestion that might help my cause in light of that?

  • Saving trim, bleed and registry marks

I am trying to set up a series of calendar pages for professional printing. The printer has requested I forward in 'eps' format with trim, bleed and registry marks. I have followed these instructions to do so. http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WSfd1234e1c4b69f30ea53e41001031ab64-7799a.h tml
However, nowhere on here can I find instructions on how these marks can be saved to the file using the print dialogue. Only options available are 'cancel' , 'done' and 'print'. Since I don't want to cancel or print I used the 'done' option and forwarded the file to the printer. The printer reports than none of the markings are saved to the files.

    First of all:
You might want to exercise more impulse control, your rudeness seems rather regrettable.
This is a user-to-user-Forum and people can post here whether the original posters can distinguish the relevance (if any) of other peoples’ posts or not.
If you took the trouble to peruse the site you linked to more thoroughly you might have noticed the line
    »Home / Using Photoshop / Printing / Printing images to a commercial printing press«
Wonder what the author meant by »Printing«?
Raising the print-dialog without actually printing will not create an eps-file – because you did not actually print anything.
And from what I remember from your original post the printer asked for an eps-file, not a psd-file with some customized print-settings.
If you are a photographer or some other professional in the field of graphic design or the like you may want to look into Acrobat (and I wrote »Acrobat Professional«, not »Adobe Professional«) and/or proper layout applications like Indesign for tasks like this one.
Edit: Though there are probably freeware alternatives, too.

  • Bleeds and Trim Marks

So I am desinging a business card for a company I work for. The company we are sending them off too obviously needs to have the bleed and trims marks. The only thing I can't figure out is how do I make the bleed marks visible to them? When I print the document it shows me the trim marks but since I have a white background, it looks as if there is no border. Should I add a border to the actual Artboard?

You can use the automated marks
If you want to draw your own trimmarks
file >> document setup>> set the bleed amount - you will see a red line showing you where the bleed ends

  • Trying to copy and paste text from a pdf to a webpage

trying to copy and paste text from a pdf to my iWeb edit page shows up as red lines,  only shows up on the website if I highlight it, please help

If it only shows up when you highlight it, then it could be your font or your font color. Try changing both to a different font to see if that helps. If not, copy it into a word processor such as Microsoft Word, Pages, or Text Edit to see if it shows up there. If it does, try copying it again from the processor to your webpage.

  • Working with bleeds and crop lines

I have a document in Indesign that is 7" x 7". One one page of this document I have an image that is 8 x 8. Therefore, it is a full four-sided bleed.
I want to be able to print or PDF this document so that the crop lines appear and the full 8 x 8 image appears (or at least, an image larger than the page size). This way it would be easy to cut out the image using a blade without white space peeking out.
Can this be done in Indesign? If so, how would I go about doing it?
Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm sorry but I don't understand how to use the bleed, slug and crop features.
I would have thought I could specify a page be 7 x 7 and have crop marks that are 7 x 7. And then I could set the bleed marks to be 0.5 inches out each way resulting in a bleed.
But if this is the case, I am doing something wrong. Because changing the bleed seems to do the opposite. Obviously, I'm confused here about how this works. Any ideas?

  • Setting Bleed Lines and Crop Marks

I'm trying to lay out a 4x6 postcard on a 4.5x6.5 document. I want my crop marks and bleed lines at 4x6 to tell the printer where to trim off the extra. I'm setting my bleeds up for .25 on each side to give me lines that make a 4x6 finished product but it's not working. The crop marks aren't even close to where I want them. I've set up guides at 4x6 to compare where they are landing and it's way off. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Please Help!

Make your document size 4 X 6 and use the bleed setting to set up the extra bleed (Document Setup > More Options).

  • How can I extract Trim, Art, Bleed and Crop Box information from PDF document

I want to know where in PDF are these information saved. I need my program to know these numbers without me manually rewriting them.

    Use the getPageBox method.
getPageBox can get the dimensions of the following:
    Art
    Bleed
    BBox
    Crop (default)
    Trim
There is an example in the JavaScript for Acrobat reference that gets the dimensions of the media box and displays it in the console window:
    var aRect = this.getPageBox("Media");
    var width = aRect[2] - aRect[0];
    var height = aRect[1] - aRect[3];
    console.println("Page 1 has a width of " + width + " and a height of " + height);

  • InDesign CS5.5 - Adobe Acrobat export (incorrect master pages and crop marks)

Hi, I've recently experienced a couple of anomalies when exporting books from InDesign to PDF.
The first issue was that, on seemingly random pages of the book, the exporter suddenly seemed to interpret the crop marks incorrectly. The book pages would go something like: left, right, left, right, right, left, right.
The second issue was that the pdf didn't display the correct master page on one page of the book. The InDesign file has sections with slight grey backgrounds to separate particular sections of the book. One of the pages in one of those grey sections just appears as white (the text remained unharmed) in the pdf though the InDesign file is as it should be.
    Any suggestions?

First issue: No pages are missing, the crop marks indicating whether right or left go out of l,r,l,r order.
Second issue: There is a background fill on the master page. I just checked and the attribute is fine. What's strange is that the first time I made this pdf and sent the book to print, this didn't happen. Now that I've reexported for a second print of the book it happened (the master pages haven't been touched between prints and the same print settings have been used). Is it possible that the exporter can just mess up?

  • Remove crop marks from AI CS2 doc?

    Hi,
I resized my document from a 8.5 x 11 to a 11 x 14 and then scaled the business card on it up 280% to fit in the new document size in Adobe Illustrator CS2. Everything is working fine except that my existing crop marks for the business card stayed the same size as the business card 3.5 x 2 so how do I remove these? I don't need them anymore.
I will be having this printed so do I need to insert print marks or anything like that?
    Thanks in advance,
    ashmic19

It worked! Thanks so much ScottW. I have no idea what it did but it worked. Thanks again!
