Prints appear foggy

After upgrading from iPhoto 4 to 5, now 5.0.4, photos printed appear very
milky or foggy. The printer is a Canon iP4000. Printing with Canon
EasyPrint program generates perfect results.
How can be iPhoto is putting a veil of fog over printouts?
Any suggestion how to find out or what might help?
Thanks!

It looks like re-installing iPhoto 5 and update the printer driver from canon online fixed the problem with the colors. Can not finally tell which one ruled it out, would bet on iPhoto since the printer alone with Canon EasyPrint util worked fine before.
To reinstall I did:
- moved iPhoto app from Applications into a backup folder
- removed from /Library/Receipts everything starting with iPhoto
- install from DVD, custom install for iPhoto only
- after completion, updated iPhoto online to 5.0.4 with software update built into MacOS X
The cropping problem however still exists (see my post
"Crop is not that perfect in bounds").
Hope that helps

  • Canon LBP6000 print driver - no printer appears in the 'add printer' section'  I have installed Mac CAPT Ve r340 and nothing shows.r

I was having problems printing from my Canon LBP6000.  Print jobs remained held in the queue.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the Mac CAPT Ve r340 driver from Canon's website, no improvement.  The printer works fine with my Windows laptop.
I found an option to remove all printers from the Print preferences section. I can't remember how I did this, but all printers were removed.  I reinstalled the above driver, but now in the 'print & scan' - 'add printer' section, I have no printer options.  And no idea how to get printer options.  So very open to advice.
    Thanks
    T.

The ability to see the LBP6000 in the Add Printer view is not reliant on the printer driver but the USB cable. If you have the printers USB cable connected directly to the Mac, as opposed to having it connected to the Windows computer you mention or to some sort of USB hub, then it should appear in the Add Printer > Default view. If it does not show, then try another USB cable. You can also open System Information on the Mac and select the USB section in the left column. Then in the top right pane you will see all the USB busses on the Mac and the LBP should be seen under one of the busses if the USB cable is okay.
With regards to the action to remove all printers, I would bet that you performed a reset of the printing system.

  • My wireless printer appears as offline on my Macbook, despite being visible on the network and printable from a Windows laptop on the same network. Was fine previously. Any thoughts?

    I have a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8.
I have a wirelessly networked printer (HP PhotoSmart D110).
All worked well until a couple of months ago.
For reasons unknown, I stopped being able to print wirelessly to the printer from the Macbook. It appears as offline on the HP Photosmart utillity that pops up.
I can print to teh same printer from a Windows PC on the same network.
I have also logged onto the printer, using it's IP address and printed its test page, so obvioulsy not a printer fault as such.
The old PowerBook on the same network doesn't print to it either.
Grateful for any thoughts for quick tests or tips.
    Paul.

Nice one Ron, you're a star.
    That was a complete fix.
My preferences was slightly different, but it was the same approach.
I had 4 printers listed. Some old ones that I no longer had and the one that didn't work. I deleted all of them, then hit '+'.
It came back up, searched for new drivers, then I was able to print as per normal.
    Result.

  • Printer: appears in duplicates in print dialog box

I have 6 active printers for my mac. Lately they are showing up in multiples in the print dalog box of Illustrator. This is the only application that does this. Everything prints fine, so far. Just wonder what this means, why it's doing this, and how to fix it.  See image attached.
I've tried a few things: trashed illustrator preferences, trashed com.adobe.illustrator.plist file, trashed com.apple.printpreference.plist, and repaired disk permissions via disk utility.
Any ideas would be great! thanks!

Thanks for the speedy reply. Tried that and it didn't do the trick. I think what's happening may have something to do with what I saw when I tried your posting:
Notice that the same printers which were appearing 3 times in Illustrator are listed here 3 times also. Two are "shared printer" and one is "apple talk". What does this mean? Worth "fixing"?

  • Printing appears small

Does anyone have any idea why my printouts are appearing small? Whenever I select the print option the printout prints to the top left 25% of the page only and not the full page. This happens even though the print preview shows that it is going to print the full page. It is printing everything but just sqeezing it down to about 25% the original size. I always put settings to: Print full page, or Scale to 100% or Scale to Fit, etc
I am using Mac OS 10.6.8 on a MacBook (Older black type) using the applications Mail, Preview and Safari. MS Word prints ok which is leading me to think that perhaps this issue is tied to the Mac OS. The printer is a Canon MX350 but my feeling is that this is not a printer issue as the problem is not consistent, it seems to varry across applications.
    Any thoughts appreciated.

Using Safari as the program from which to print -
Check in the Print window (the window that appears when you select Print from the File menu, or press Command-P). There's a pulldownmenu underneath the Orientation section; it should show Safari -
Click that menu and select Layout from it. The window will change to show some new items -
In particular, look at the item Pages per Sheet. If that is set to 4, then the page will be reduced and printed on just one-quarter of the paper. Resetting that to 1 should return the print to full-size.

  • Prints appear squashed

HP Deskjet 1000 J110 series.  Windows XP.
Hi I'm finding that when I print an image it appears slightly squashed/elongated compared to the correct image on my monitor.  How can I solve this issue?
    Thanks

    Hi funksucker,
Try doing a Hard Reset as described in the following link.  Click Here  This will help reset the firmware in the printer.
If that doesn't help, I would recommend treating this as a feed problem.  You can follow the steps in the troubleshooting document  The Printer Does Not Pick Up or Feed Paper,  even though that is not the description of your issue.  The steps apply to your situation.  Let me know how it goes.
    Good Luck !

  • Deskjet 5150 - Change of Microsoft Office results in change of print appearance

Until recently I used Excel '97 and Windows XP on my desktop PC.   I now have a new laptop with Excel 2007 and Windows 7.   If I work on my spreadsheet using the laptop, and save it as an Excel '97 file, when I take a copy to my desktop PC for printing - the spreadsheet looks smaller.  The margins appear bigger despite the settings being exactly the same.    I am being forced to cut and paste from the laptop copy into the desktop PC copy.  If I could set up a network life would be easier - but I can't - so I am forced to carry a removable drive between each PC.  Any ideas ?

MS Office only comes in one language at a time.  You have to download another version in English.  You should be able to use the same authorization code.
For MS products it is really best to go to the forums they run.

  • Help! Why does my HP 1536dnf Printer appear in my network with a strange device name?

    I own a HP Laserjet 1536dnf All-in-One Printer.
I notice that with the default settings, my printer is appearing in my network under the device name that seems to be some randomly generated name like NPICG042G that makes no sense to me.
I know that I can change the name in the device page, but I like to know how did this name come about in the first place??
When I reset the printer and redo the setup, the SAME device name appears as if this is some fixed preset.
Can someone explain this to me?
Also, if I change the name, do I need to reinstall all the drivers for each computer on the network OR change the name of the printer MANUALLY to the new name on each computer on the network?
    Please help.

Same probleme here on a HP Officejet 8500. Same question also under the post "How do i change my printer's name in the Mac OS X Finder?"

  • Printing appears yellow!

    Hi,
On a number of machines in the office, in the last couple of days the print outs have started appearing yellow. Other colours are also appearing differently to those in the design and print preview.
Initially it was thought it may be an issue with the printer, but the printer technicians checked the colours and all appears fine through their printouts. It only seems to happen when printing from Creative Cloud programs.
I've just updated Creative Cloud on my machine to confirm it's not an update issue and rebooted to ensure the updates applied.
Looking in the printer preferences everything appears fine, and hasn't changed from the previous state for it to have started causing this issue.
Has anyone had a similar problem or does anyone know of what could cause this?
    Thanks,
    Jason

I have just discovered that I can properly print pictures from iPhoto to the colour laser, as long as I don't put them in a greeting card. So that seems to be the trigger.

  • I recieve my reciepts from all of my Apple purchases via email to my email cllient "MS Outlook 2003" on a Windows 7 Home Premium platform. I cannot format the print appearance of HTML documents within Outlook and the print border cuts of the last digit?

I use MS Outlook as my email client under Windows 7 Home Premium and when I receive a reciept from Apple for purchases made for my iPhone (Stores or iTunes) the HTML formatting cuts off the last digit of the price paid on my eReceipts (the only receipts I get). Outlook 2003 does not allow for HTML print formatting since they (HTMLs) are formatted from the source (Apple). Can you help me to get Apple to fix this or find a workaround?

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app.  I am certain other applications also need this information.  Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information.  Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Thank you!

  • CP1025nw won't print wirelessly; two copies of printer appear in the network!

My two Macs running Mountain Lion (10.8) won't print wirelessly to the HP CP1025nw. HP Setup Assistant can't find the printer after it's set up wirelessly. The computers see the printer wirelessly when I try to add it, but there are TWO copies of the printer, and they won't print. Sometimes they seem to think the printer is already in use, possibly because there are two copies.
The printer prints fine through USB, though.

Same issue here, the CP1025nw can't print multiple copies UNLESS the user is a local administrator; which in this domain environment is not allowed. So another solution must be found.
The common answer is to adjust the "mopier mode" however this driver does NOT allow for that to be changed. The universal drivers typically do have the mopier setting but I could not find any compatible colour universal 64bit drivers that would work with the CP1025nw.
Even tried finding something in group policy and/or printer permissions, still no luck.
    Please help!
    We're all in it together.

Did you actually install the drivers as well as repaired permissions and restarting your computer?

    Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
