Problem deleting .app

I am having a problem deleting .app files from my macbook. I can delete other files such as .mp3 or any other but for some reason when i delete a .app it reappears on my HD. there will be a white circle with a line through it as if its stopping me from being able to delete.
What can be wrong?

I just figured it out and fixed it. There was a CleanApp Launch Daemon in my Library.deleted it, restarted my macbook and now joy =]

    What do you mean? You can't delete apps from iCloud. What exactly are you trying to do? I assume that you want to delete an app and all of the data and for some reason the data is coming back when you reinstall the app?

  • HT1349 I'm having problems downloading apps to my iPad using wifi at a McDonalds.  The apps all stay in a"waiting" mode.  I can't delete them or get them to install.  This is the second time that this has happened.  Advice?

    I am having problems downloading apps while using wifi in a public setting.  The apps will show up on my screen and say "waiting".  They will not install.  I can't even delete them from my screen.  This has happened before and I had to reset my iPad to factory settings.  I hope I don't have to do this again.  Any advice?

    Well, typically one of the fixes that I would suggest is to try to delete the waiting icons. WIFi in a public places like McDonalds, Starbucks, B&N, etc. is not the greatest and I would avoid those places for downloading and updating apps. But I do realize that not everybody has access to Wifi in their homes.
    These are all things that have worked at one time or another for other users. Hopefull one of them will work for you. Just ignore whatever does not apply or anything that you have already tried.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
    If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
    Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
    You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
    If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

    How do I delete apps from the bin. They won't delete! I have deleted them in iTunes, they went into the bin but they won't delete from there. They are from another user account. A messege comes up and says I don't have permission to delete them, and they are locked. How can I tackle this please anyone? Thanks!

    Hi There, i have tried the straightforward ways to delete the 'apps ipa' from the bin. they wont go.  I have unlocked them but they still won't delete. is it OK to delete them? will it mess up the apps?
    I have been able to delete an app from itunes then from the bin in my own area on the computer. It seems the problem is that it's in another user area? any ideas please? thanks

    How can I delete apps in iTunes and have that sync to my iPhone and iPad? I don't want to delete 3 separate times for each item. I just carefully chose 30-35 apps to get rid of via iTunes, hoping it would sync to my devices, only to find I have to repeat the process on my iPad, take notes, then repeat it on my iPhone. It wasn't always so tedious was it?
    Here's the "Help" I got from Apple. They even quoted my question back to me then proceeded to answer with something very different and completely missing the point.
    I understand that you would like to delete the Apps. I know how eager you are to get the required information and I will be happy to assist you.
    You can remove individual songs, audiobooks, and videos from your iPod, iPhone, or iPad. Removing an item from your device doesn't delete it from your iTunes library.
    To remove items from a device other than an iPod shuffle, first make sure that iTunes is set up to manually manage items.
    1. Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer.
    2. When the iPod, iPhone, or iPad icon appears in iTunes, select it.
    3. Unless your device is an iPod shuffle, click the Summary tab and make sure "Manually manage music and videos" or "Manually manage music" is selected.
    4. If the disclosure triangle to the left of your iPod, iPhone, or iPad (below Devices) is closed, click the triangle so that you can see the device's contents.
    5. Select the item you want to delete and press the Delete key.
    This was not helpful in any way and I am still unable to delete apps on my devices in a global, iTunes based way. Each device still requires its own independent process.

    Match was off.  I made all of the changes and then went through the "Turn on iTunes Match" option.  I now have deleted some tracks, edited the Metadata in CDDA, and then added it back.  This worked fine, but it is not a good solution.
    I just tried making some edits and use the "Update iTunes Match" and that seemed to work.  It looks like the real answer is that Match must be up and operational, then you can make changes and run the Update to incorporate the changes.  However, if Match has a problem then Signing Out and back in to your store account and going through the process of Turning On Match (were you get the questions, "Add this Computer to Match" will overwrite any changes. 
    Since this relies on the stability of iTunes, I won't be making a lot of changes between updates.

    Hi, I have checked the previous discussions on Storage HD problem in which suggestions to turn off backup, snapshots, even to using OmniDiskSweeper to reduce the space being used by Other but these suggested methods don't seem to work out for me.
    I don't have auto backup turn on for Time Machine. If I don't have Time Machine on, do I still have to perform the Terminal function of "sudo tmutil disablelocal"?
    I have used OmniDiskSweeper which revealed around 26.8GB files that I am pretty sure I need to keep, be it that the biggest size is the iTunes media folder in which converted audios are stored and taking 9.3GB of space.
    Based on my screencap below on my Storage HD, I have basically nothing much in terms of Audio, Movies, Photos, Apps, Backups but almost half of the space is being taken up by Others, just mind puzzled me.
    I know there are still space left and not critical but I just purchased this MBA last Christmas so I would like to be well prepared looking at the rate the Other storage is increasing each time. Any advice would be much appreciated. I am using external HD as Time Machine Backup and I do this backup manually. All my other audio, movies, photos, docs files are stored in another external HD.
    My other question is that is it ok or advisable to delete apps that are pre-installed when we first received the MBA? I noted there are quite a number of apps that may not be of use (especially those under the Utilities folder) but pre-installed. In the event that I have uninstalled/deleted these pre-installed apps is there any way to restore or download them?? Are these apps the ones that are taking up the space under Other or they will just fall under Apps section? I also installed some widgets apps like around 8 of them - not sure how I can gauge the size of these widgets.

    No, as you notice in this screenshot, "backups" is Zero.  This is where local snapshots would be stored.

    You can delete the Apps.  You can reinstall them at any time by inserting disc 2 (the applications disc that came with your mac).  I don't use GarageBand or iMovie, so I deleted them.  Apps just fall under the "Apps" category.  I qquestioned the Genius Bar as to what is in "other" and they said it is impossible to say exactly what is in that category, it is slightly different for each user.  It does include the operating system among other things.  They told me to thing of it as an "etcetera" category.

  • I am unable to delete apps on iPhone 5

    After looking at other similar questions, I can find no answer.
    For some reason, I can no longer delete apps from my iPhone 5 running 6.1.4. I am doing everything the way you are supposed to, but nothing. What I end up with is a bunch of jiggling icons, the one I am trying to delete has its "x" blacked out, but it doesn't delete. There is no message asking if I am sure I want to delete this app. I have to do a hard rest in order to get back to normal.
    This happen regardless the app I am trying to delete, so there is no one offending app causing the problem. I've checked restrictions and am able to delete. This is just weird and more than a little bit frustrating. I do not want to keep going into iTunes to delete apps from my iPhone. I shouldn't have to anyway.
    Everything else appears fine. No problems on my iPad or iPod Touch.
    Any assistance will be most welcome!

  • Problems syncing apps with 10.3.1

    recently i have had problems syncing app updates on my ipad since i updated to 10.3.1. i did a restore on the ipad thinking that there was a problem with the operating system. it froze during the restore and every time i tried after that. i was able to restore on a different computer with an older version of itunes and was able to sync apps from that computer. i tried to sync apps again on the origional computer and when i do it takes an hour for them to all load on but at the end i get an error that says some of the apps in your library were not installed on the ipad because one or more errors occured.  i have reinstalled itunes several times and also reinstalled the apple moble device drivers. every time i trie to sync apps i use a new back up file so there would be no corrupted files. i have also gone to apple and they gave me a new ipad. please help i dont know what to do.

    i have downgraded to versio 10.2.2 and i still have the same issues. I have also tried deleting then redownloading the apps to see if a new version will correct the problem however i have had no success. please tell me every idea that you might have to fix the problems i am having.

    I know you can't help with my Yahoo problem, however, apparently at some time in the past I have went to the Sync and tried to figure it out on both my laptop and my desktop, because I have the long snyc key information. However, when I go to try to sync both computers I never get the box to enter that key on either one. That is my problem. So should I try and get a new sync key and see if that works.

    My daughter has an iphone 5 with ios 7.02. Ever since she updated to ios7 she has not been able to update her apps. When she tries they grey out and are stuck on waiting. We have tried everything and I think I have read every post on the subject. I decided to work on it again today and I have deleted as many of the apps as I can, there are still some that are completely grey that don't show in any list and won't delete off the phone.
    I cannot update to ios 7.03 because it does not show that as an update. Now when you look at the app store icon it has a little #28 on it but when I go into the App Store app to see the updates it only shows 4 because I have deleted all the other apps.
    Things to know.
    This phone has only ever been in icloud.
    Never connected to the computer.
    I have tried every version of signing out of itunes, deleting apps, resetting network settings, reset by holding on/off and home button that I can read about. I'm at a loss.
    These are my main questions/concerns-
    Why won't the deleted apps come off the screen?
    Why does the App store icon show 28 but when go into the App store app it only has 4 updates?
    Why is there no ios 7.03 to update to?
    Why can't we update the 4 apps that need to be updated? (she can't use them at all)
    Even the apps that have been deleted and show to be in the cloud can't be downloaded-why not?
    I would really appreciate any help. It's been such a problem...I really don't want her to lose everything if possible. She is a 13 year old girl and would love to keep all her data etc.

    If this is only happening occasionally with incoming calls, I would check the signal strength where it occurs and also check with the carrier to have them check your account. Phone calls are a carrier responsibility, and since it seems to be a infrequent issue, I would look at the carrier first.

  • Problems downloading app

    I am having problems with my apple ID. When I try to download anything at apple store, it opens sthg saying that the update is not available with this apple ID... What should I do?

    I came across this issue on my iPad and iPhone today. I did some research and it was suggested that you need to change your region to wherever in the world you originally purchased the app.
    This worked for me.
    I had tried signing in and out, deleting apps and resetting my devices; because I had never used any Apple ID except for my own personal one, I thought that those options would sort it. I changed my region to the uk (where the apps were purchased) and now they have updated with no other issues.

    You need a different BlackBerryID and email address attached to each ID, for each BlackBerry phone.
    You didn't say what her model BlackBerry is, but she can look at Options > BlackBerryID.

    When I delete apps on my iPhone 4 with 32g it doesn't free up any memory? I goto settings,general, about and it says 28g used and like 4g free.  I deleted almost all my apps and the memory stayed the same.
