Problem downloading Adobe InDesign CS5.5 family

I have subscribed for Online Store Download of Creative Suite CS5. Download of instructions plus the actual product downloaded successfully. Now wanting to continue downloading other downloads seen in my downloads. One I just downloaded is called Adobe InDesign CS5.5 Family. To download without Akamai Manager I downloaded the file using the Alternate Download Method.
So the download now resides on my desktop and a folder is titled Contents. When I double-click it shows font family folders. How do I install them into InDesign? Do I drag the icon onto my InDesign Application Icon...
Help most appreciative.

  • Problem using Adobe InDesign CS5 to prepare a PDF to upload to Magcloud:

I’m using the 30-day trial version of Adobe InDesign CS5.
I’ve downloaded the Magcloud template, created a document using InDesign CS5, exported it to PDF and uploaded it to Magcloud. Magcloud rejects my upload, saying it has the wrong number of pages. For example, if I create a 24-page document in InDesign, Magcloud thinks it has only 13 pages – front and back covers, plus 11 two-page spreads.
Details, please, on how to export from InDesign CS5 so that Magcloud will see the same number of pages that InDesign does.
    Thanks,
    RC

Sounds like you exported to PDF (Interactive) instead of choosing PDF (Print) from the dropdown or using one of the Print presets from File > Adobe PDF Presets...

  • Hi! I have a problem. I was downloading "Adobe Indesign CS5"...

and when the download finished, an advert says: It cannot open the image of the archive error -4960"
    Why?

Can you open the application from programs list ?
Also, please verify if the application is installed correctly and if not then probably a re-installation would be required.
For Immediate support its always recommended to join our Live chat team.

Adobe InDesign CS5 needs plugs ins, but how?   Adobe InDesign CS6 won't open says OS problem.  Adobe upgrade site crashes on me.

You might ask in InDesign to learn how to install plugins

What IS your operating system, and which exact version?
Is the link below where you are starting for upgrades?

  • Adobe Indesign CS5.5 Disc - Installer failed to initialize

I have been trying unsuccessfully to install my Adobe Indesign cs5.5 disc for the first time into my Dell Latitude E6400 laptop (Windows vista, intel core2 /duo - I meet all the system requirements). I keep getting the message "Installer failed to initialize. Please contact Adobe support."
I followed the indesign cs5 help suggestions at adobe.com and ran the Adobe Cs5 cleaner tool. This did not help. I also turned off my anti-virus to be sure.
Should I instead download the program from the internet and then enter my serial code? Is this my only option? Could you please give me some other suggestions.  Your help is greatly appreciated.
    David

    David:
I ran Adobe Support Adivsor toll, and the response was "Inspection could not identify any issues." I did not see any log files.
Just to confirm, you went to %APPDATA%\Local\Temp and found that there were a lot of files there, but there was not one called PDApp.log? Are you sure you have the right path?
If that's so, then the installer is failing really early. I suppose it's silly, but have you tried rebooting?
I find it doubtful that uninstalling Acrobat or Reader would help. Though I am slightly curious whether their Uninstallers launch. (For most Adobe products, the Uninstaller and the Installer are very similar, and they both do a bunch of checks and then pop up a window. For uninstallers, there is a chance to confirm before uninstalling. It would be interesting to know if the uninstallers fail to start the same way your InDesign installer has failed. But Acrobat is the product Least Like all the others. It's uninstaller might not behave this way, I'm not sure).
Still, we are getting down to weird or obscure problems. So it may be time to try solutions that are abnormal.
So, lacking anything better to do, assuming you have quadruple-checked for the above log file, why don't you go with your initial idea and try downloading the trial installer. And if it still doesn't work, sure, try uninstalling Acrobat first.

  • Mac upgrade to Yosemite, Adobe Indesign CS5 keyboard shortcuts not working -  t for text  - z for zoom - v for pointer etc

So I upgraded my MACBOOK PRO (Retina, Mid 2012) 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i7
    to MAC OS X YOSEMITE
Adobe Indesign CS5 generally works with some very annoying bugs.
All major keyboard shortcuts that use a single key command have stopped working. and these happen to be the main ones I use all the time for editing...
    t for text
    z for zoom
    v for pointer
It's annoying because now I have to keep  going back to the tool bar to change my cursor selection. It's just slowing me down.
    Annoying but workable.
Has anyone else go this issue?
An update or fix would be greatly appreciated.

    WARNING!!!
I was contacted by  apparently a third party supplier called Adobe Systems via this forum
They logged in to my computer via team viewer
    installed utorrent
and proceed to download a cracked version of adobe cs6
in the mean time saying on skype that Adobe no longer has Adobe CS6 on their server.
This seemed very OFF to me and I disconnected the skype (and blocked Adobe Systems) and disconnected TeamViewer
If I wanted a cracked version of Adobe CS6 I'm very capable of doing this kind of thing my self
However I run a business I want to have a legitimate licensed copy of the software running for my staff.
They were offering a fully licensed version of a Adobe Master Suite CS6 with my own unique ID for USD$400
Again very OFF considering the upgrade from Adobe from Indesign CS5 to CS6 is almost AUD$1600
I don't know how they got my email address from this forum but it seems that the adobe forum has been hacked!
    you have been warned!

  • Adobe Indesign Cs5.5 to Indesign CS6

We have a site license for Adobe Indesign Cs5.5 for 200+ seats running on 10 terminal servers. It took us about a month to test/tweak/modify Indesign CS5.5 to accommodate our workflow. We would like to upgrade to InDesign CS6, but here is my problem, I have Indesign CS5.5 on my PC as testing and when I installed Indesign CS6, it kept CS5.5 and of course it did a fresh install of CS6, and so we would have to go though about 2-3 weeks to again  test/tweak/modify CS6 to accommodate our workflow…..
My question is, is their just and upgrade installer from Indesign CS5.5 to CS6 where it keeps all of our current modifications?
    thnaks

That's humbug. Buying a newer version doesn't entitle you to use older versions nor is it technically possible since it would keep Adobe busy all day issuing extra legacy serial numbers.

  • How to uninstall and reinstall Adobe InDesign CS5?

My Adobe InDesign CS5 stopped opening properly. Upon startup all the menu items were grayed out and unaccessible. Adobe Chat support advised me to uninstall and reinstall CS5.
My other Adobe programs are working fine. (CS5 photoshop, illustrator, acrobat, etc.)
    MacBook Pro OS10.9.3
Anyone know how to uninstall and reinstall CS5?
Unfortunately Adobe chat service no longer supports this function on this older software.
    Thanks for your help.

before you go to the trouble of uninstalling/reinstalling--try this (it's called resetting the preferences)
OOPs--I forgot that I was in the indesign forum
There is a quick and easy method for doing this using the keyboard: close and relaunch InDesign, and IMMEDIATELY hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Windows) or Cmd + Ctrl + Opt + Shift (Mac), and respond in the affirmative to the dialog asking if you really want to replace the preferences. There are two downsides to this method, however. First, you must be extremely fast on the keyboard (if you don’t see the confirmation prompt, you were too slow), and second, anytime you replace the preferences you will lose most program customizations, and using the keyboard method leaves you with no backup to restore them when the problem turns out to be something else.
My preferred method is to CLOSE INDESIGN and do a “manual” prefs replacement, which consists of finding and renaming the two files which make up the preference set: InDesign Defaults and InDesign SavedData. BOTH of these files should be replaced at the same time. You can delete them, but renaming or moving them will give you the opportunity to copy them back in the event that new prefs doesn’t cure your issue. When you restart ID, the program will look for these two files, and when they are not found, a new default set will be written.

  • Adobe InDesign cs5 crashes every time try to save, save as or export

I've got adobe InDesign (cs5 version), and every time I try to save, save as or export a file, the InDesign window closes or crashes. This is very frustrating as I have a project which needs to be completed in the next two days using InDesign. Help!

    Try reseting the preferences.
or  delete Mark II folder from the location
    Windows 7/Vista: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\SING\Mark II
Mac OS: [Startup Disk]/Library/Applications Support/Adobe/SING/Mark II
    It will fix this..
This problem is pretty definitely not SING, so deleting the Mark II folder is not going to help. (It wont't hurt, though!)
Resetting prefrences is always a good thing to try.
I suspect it is a corrupt story thread of some sort. Moving pages to a new document, exporting stories to IDML, copying the file and deleting pages until the problem goes away...those are things I would try.

  • How to create a new plugin using Adobe InDesign CS5?

How to create our own plugin using Adobe InDesign CS5?is there any documents available for this?

    Sure. (Didn't Google find anything?)
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/indesign/sdk.html
But you don't "use" InDesign to write plugins. You need a C++ compiler and a lot of programming knowledge and experience with C++. If this means nothing to you, don't look any further -- it's way too complicated to "go and get started" at random. Adobe's documentation is not intended for learners, starters, and people who shrink back at the thought of having to read multiple help documents that are each a couple of megabytes large.
Using the SDK is so complicated there's even a part of the forum dedicated to it, aptly (and obviously) called InDesign SDK. If you browse the messages in there, you can get an idea of the most common pitfalls and problems.
If the above scares you off, well, that was fully intentional (sorry, but it is). It's by far easier to write scripts. Scripts have several advantages over plugins:
    1. They are platform independent (Javascripts are; AppleScript is just for Macs and Visual Basic is just for Windows). Plugins are exclusively platform dependent. To write the same plugin for both Windows and for Mac, you have to know all the pitfalls of changing code from one platform to another, and you need a complete working compiler and development system for both platforms.
    2. They are version independent. Simple scripts work on a fairly great range of InDesign versions -- some of my own scripts date back to CS, and are totally or virtually unchanged. It's even possible to force "too old" scripts to work with newer versions.
    3. Scripts can do most of the things a plugin can do. The main difference used to be that plugins allow you to write a fully integrated look-and-feel part of InDesign, but with the advance of ScriptUI and event handlers and menu customization, you come quite far. Only for highly specialized functions you still need a real plugin (custom item integration, custom spell and hyphenation modules, stuff like that).
    4. The scripting community is very active -- it also has a forum of its own, called (well, obviously) InDesign Scripting -- and are a friendly lot, always ready to help. (Unless you whine about how to do every little thing. (That is, I can't stand that personally. Others may not mind.))
    5. Scripting is easy. ... not really, but it is fairly easy, and compared to writing a custom plugin in C++, it's a breeze, a walk in the park, and a summer stroll all rolled into one.
