Problem(?) encoding a sendstream used for sending and storing

Question

I am trying to create a program that will send live audio (from mic) to the client and also storing that data. Right now it works but the filesize of the data from the audio recording is in Megabytes while the streams sent and recorded from the other end is in Kbytes. Someone mentioned its encoding problem but I am not sure it is? Someone mentioned Encoding but I did encode it to .WAVE. I also took an example from the JMF site that saves audio data to file from mic and it came out to be a big file size as well. Does anyone know why ?
So here is the problem:
Client A to Client B:
A sends live audio and B captures it- file size in KB
A records himself - file size in MB
B sends live audio and A captures it- file in KB
B records himself- file size in MB.
When I encoded the dataSource from mic in the beginning I made 2
clones:
cloneableDataSource = Manager.createCloneableDataSource( ds );
     clonedDataSource = ((SourceCloneable)cloneableDataSource).createClone();

     // processor = javax.media.Manager.createProcessor(ds);
          processor= Manager.createProcessor(cloneableDataSource);
....encoding begins.
So I didnt encode the clonedDataSource BUT when I pass the clonedDataSource to fileWriter there is a function that does encode it to WAVE so I dont think thats why? anyone have any ideas? thanks!

I have an epson sx515w.
It is a scanner/copier/printer its about a year old so it maybe discontinued but it work perfectly witn my iMac i5
I can print and scan wirelessly
It also works with windows XP/Vista and Windows 7

The only feature it is missing is the fax but I got round this by using scan and faxing software.  Ink is pretty cheap if bought via ebay.
