Problem importing ics files into iCal

Importing ics files into iCal is the problem, but first here is the background on why I'm trying to import.
I have an iMac and iPad, and recently changed my iPhone 3G for an iPhone 4S. Having got the iPhone 4S I have now set up all my devices to use iCloud. In moving iCal to iCloud an extra calendar was created "automatically" in iCal, called "Me". This "Me" calendar contains a partial duplicate of my main calendar, which is called "My Calendar". In fact, some of the events from "My Calendar" seem to have been moved to "Me", and some have been duplicated.
It seems as it I now need to merge the "Me" and "My calendar" calendars to get back to where I was.
I have tried to export one of the calendars and then re-import it into the other. The export seems to work fine, but every single time I try to re-import the ics file iCal crashes at the end of the import process, and the import is not completed.
Can anyone help? This has been driving me absolutely crazy today!
I even tried manually moving events from one calendar to another, but they reappeared. I think this was because my iPhone/iPad were re-syncing via iCloud and overwriting the changes I had just made.
I don't mind if I end up with one calendar with duplicates as I can remove them with iCal Dupe Deleter.
Or if there are any other alternative solutions I'd love to hear them!

(P.S. Is it just me, or is Apple software slowly getting as unreliable as Windows used to be? I get more problems with software updates now than when I first got a Mac about 8 years ago!)

Not a great answer but I dragged the attachment either to the finder - app - ical or the icon. It placed it on the calendar. I clicked in and accepted. So, no auto populate. Need to drag and drop. So glad I paid the 20 bucks to upgrade to 10.8

Please be more specific. What Premiere project? What version of Premiere? Which operating system? What CoDecs do the QT fiels use? Are all the video files in the correct folders inside the Premiere project structure? Your description sounds like you are attempting to open a Mac based project on a PC and your video files are either in the wrong location or use a Mac-specific CoDec, hence they cannot be read on a PC.

Import .icbu file into iCal

My Apple ID is linked to an e-mail address which is deleted by provider, due to move to another town. My Calendar and Notes are in iCloud under the e-mail address which has been deleted. I made an .icbu file but cannot import the file into Calendar under a different Apple ID (which is the secondary e-mail address of my Apple ID of the deleted e-mail address).
Any way to import the .icbu file into Calendar with the content not linked to my deleted e-mail Apple ID?

Right you just imported the data, and the data was imported. If you want it to sync you have to turn that feature on.
I cannot make a new password since Apple ID does not accept my date of birth... and Apple ID cannot send any notification to my deleted e-mail address... nor does it make use of my secondary e-mail address in Apple ID.
You should not need a new password. Just deleteing the email address you used for your AppleID does not change anything about your AppleID account. You would just need to login and change the account email address to your new one. When did your AppleId stop working? Or had you forgotten it. You could try contacting Apple's customer service, but I doubt they will be able to do anything. If you have really lost access to that AppleId then you might just have to make a new one and start over. Sorry I know, not a great answer.

Problem importing video files into slideshow in Photoshop Elements 9

I am able to import the files into my slideshow, but it won't let me save it. It reports an error in saving. Help!

When converting the videos try decreasing the bitrate or changing the file type (perhaps to the iPod native .m4v)
Other than that, you could try a different encoder, like iSquint (isquint.org). It's the one that I use and I even have a QT Pro license.

Import .dba file into iCal?

I have been using Palm Desktop 4.0.1.0 on my work PC for a number of years (even though my Palm device is long dead). I am changing jobs, and want to take the contents of my calendar when I go, then trash the Palm Desktop App for security. I went to export and the only export option is ".dba". If I try to import a .dba file into an empty iCal on my Mac at home, will it be compatible and populate everything correctly?

Problem importing MOV files into iPhoto

I am getting an error when importing my iPhone mov files into iPhoto -- "The following file could not be imported. The file is in an unrecognized format". However the file plays ok with Quicktime.
Can someone help me with this? Its a brand new mac and I have the latest iPhoto too.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

There are no plans to add that functionality that I am aware of. I am usually not informed of updates until it comes out.
There is a 3rd party program that allows you to sync with Palm desktop calendar.

Problems Importing earlier files into Logic 8

Hey Folks,
I have had problems opening up previous versions of logic in Logic espress 8. the files will either open with vesion 6 or version 7 and I can not import the files when I have version 8 open. Has anyone else had these issues?

That sounds like pretty old software... your best bet is to get all of the audio files saved as full length files, from beginning to end.
You will have to see what options for exporting audio that program has. I doubt if it can save OMF files so either Broadcast Wav or full length audio files are going to be your best bet.

Sync Problems - Importing Garageband FIles Into Logic Studio 8

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone can PLEASE HELP?!!
I'm having a real headache when I open my Garageband files in Logic Studio 8 - most of the real instrument tracks end up out of sync with the software tracks!!
For example, I opened a song in Logic 8 (mostly Apple loops/beats & software synths - but with some rhythm guitar parts and bass) and the guitars and bass are a few beats in front of the rest of the song.
The same thing happens (sometimes) with the vocal tracks too...
It's become a real nightmare for me - I'm due to go into a professional studio in a few weeks time to start mixing my (Garageband) songs (in Logic). Aaaargh! Pressure!
A previous advisor kindly advised me that I may be exhausting my Mac's processing capabilities.
However, I use an iMac (250GB, 3GB of RAM, 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo). It's only around 1 year old - so I'm sure it should be man enough for the job.
However, the studio I am using to mix my album have the latest up-to-date MacPro's - and when they open the Garageband files I've supplied to them (on dvd) in Logic 8....they are having the same problem. The tracks are out of sync...
I've supplied them with both the Garageband files (as an exported project) and the imported Logic 8 version...
I just don't get it.
The songs play okay in Garageband. (Ok, I get the occasional processor warnings....so I lock the tracks, problem solved).
I'n not using any fancy plug-ins.
I don't have any other applications running.
I'm not sure what the RPM of my iMac hard drive is (can anyone advise me how I can find this out please?) but I'm sure that can't be an issue either....
If anyone can please help, I'll be so grateful.
I've been working on my album for 11 months now - and I'm about to go into the studio to mix it in late August.....and after all my hard work, I'd be so relieved if anyone can help me avert a catastrophe!

Also, if you have plugins on the main output or busses - what is your PDC setting in your audio prefs? Make sure it's set to "All".
Yes, it's the same in Logic (44.100).
No sure about PDC settings etc as I am not familiar with Logic.
However, I'm not using any plug-ins - and when I check under Logic/preferences/audio/general - "Plug in delay" is set to "Compensation: All"
(Sorry to sound like a novice, but as I mentioned in my original post, I'm not familiar with Logic........but the studio where I'm taking my album to be mixed is)!

Problems Importing DV Files into iMovie (stretching)

So, I was working at a camp with a Sony Camera running at 30fps and using Adobe Premier Pro. Upon leaving the camp, I used the "Project Manager" feature to give me all the raw DV AVI files for me to use later.
This is where the problems start...
The Files are widescreen files, so of course I open a DV Widescreen Project in iMovie. When I try to import the Clips though, It stretches them... It makes them into stretched 4x3 clips with Pillarboxing in my widescreen project. So of course I go and change the setting to the OFF setting, and that doesn't change a thing.
Next attempt is to create a 4x3 Project, and then import the clips in that project, with the Pillar/Letter-boxing setting on and then off... same dealio. It keeps streching the clips, no matter what.
More useful info.. If I open the clips in Quicktime, they are displayed correctly. VLC on the other hand stretches them, but not completely to 4x3 like iMovie...
So basically, this is ********
Last time I encountered this problem, I used Quicktime to open the clips, and export them as a new file with letterboxing, then imported them into iMovie. this worked, but now I'm dealing with a whole bunch of files, so I'd like to avoid this.
If you have any advice at all, I'd be really thankful for some help here... I could use iSquint to convert them to MP4 and make a "convertion playlist" so i can let it do it's thing all night, but then you've got some MAJOR quality issues ones your all said and done...

The problem is just a single byte in the header of these clips that is not set properly for iMovie to recognize them as widescreen clips. To fix this, you can load them into Quicktime Pro, then export as DV stream, and make sure you set the aspect ratio to "16:9" under options. Do not enable "Preserve aspect ratio". This will rewrite the files, without re-encoding the contents, and is entire lossless.
You can open all the files at the same time from Finder, and then export them with just three mouse clicks each (File -> Export, Save, Close). The settings will be remembered, so you don't have to fiddle with any export settings. That's not too bad... You don't even have to wait for one to finish before starting the next one, as Quicktime batches them up.

Problems importing multiple files into iTunes

I'm running the most recent version of iTunes. When I try to add multiple files to my itunes library a box pops up and it seems to be importing, but when the box closes, the files are not in my library. I can only add 2 or three files at a time, but no more than that. This didn't happen with the older version of iTunes. Is anyone else having the same problem, and is there a way to solve this? I have tons of files that I want to import, but at this rate, it will take months to import them. Please help!

Problem importing .mov file into Photoshop CS6

I recently bought a canon 600D and I am trying to edit a 1080p video in photoshop CS6, however whenever it won't let me import the video. When I try to open it via File>open, it tells me 'Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file.' and when I try to drag and drop it it tells me 'Could not place the document ‘MVI_0710.MOV’ because no parser or file format can open the file.'
I'm not a professional at all so I could be missing something very basic! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What system are you on? Which PS version? 32bit or 64 bit? Sounds like the required qtserver/ dynamiclink stuff is not running and you are using the 64bit version.

Problem importing MP4 files into iTunes

I'm tearing my hair out here! I've used a DVD ripper to convert a track from a DVD into an (iPod friendly) MP4 format. I then dragged & dropped the MP4 "chapter" into iTunes Library, where it appeared in Movies, but I had to click on Advanced>Convert Selection for iPod. It took iTunes about 1 hour to convert the track & then it played on iPod. (Was SO CHUFFED I'd got it to work!) Flushed with success, I tried doing several tracks at once but when I tried to get iTunes to convert again, I got a message saying the file is already in the correct format. And although file is showing in Library>Movies, it doesnt register in my iPod>Movies and of course it won't play. Please help.

Importing AAF files into Logic Pro 7.1

Hello All:
Have got a number of song sequences that are in the AAF format, complete with associated audio .aif sound files in the same folder.
These AAF files were created on another Logic pro studio, as they had to export them from Pro Tools into AAF .
i am able to IMPORT the sequence arrange with requisite tracks set up, but when the audio files attempt to load, i am prompted by the finder to MANUALLY locate each audio file to enable it to place into the Logic arrange page correctly.
I get the "where is the file"xxxxxB4Wrww.aif" type message, and can see the actual file located in the finder window, but it won't just locate them automatically.
It takes a loooong time to search out in the list each file and then click DONE to enter it!
Then repeat for EACH file name.....jeez.
One song has 78 audio files associated with it!
A local tech guy in a MAC software dealership said this was a continuing problem he had also with AAF in Logic 7.....
Any hints, before i spend 4 mind numbing hours hand-locating
these frikkin files?
